Venus moves into her own sign of Libra, bringing grace to relationships and a longing for balance. Mars enters Cancer, where action becomes protective, emotional, and deeply rooted in the past. And two eclipses—one solar in Leo, one lunar in Pisces—illuminate what must fall away so something truer can emerge. This is not about prediction; it is about preparation. It is about understanding the patterns written in your chart so you can meet life with awareness rather than resistance.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Happy Monday, everybody! Today we're going to take a look at all of the major astrological transits for the month of August. There are a number of them, and it's also eclipse season, so I think we've got a good list of things to take a look at today that will prep you for everything to come.
Remember that most of these transits will also be covered on the channel individually, so this is just meant to give you an overview and a sense of the flow for the month of August. Before we get into it, of course, remember to like and subscribe, share your comments, all of your stories or reflections are really nice to read.
You can find transcripts of any of these daily talks every day at nightlightastrology.com, and every day I usually have a few promotions to share before we get into our content. I want you to know that the Oracle Within our annual retreat is now open for registration. This is our retreat that's going to be taking place in August of 2027.
So we open this up about a year in advance, and it becomes sort of like a pilgrimage to put on your calendar. It's an immersive, spiritually focused retreat that's meant to help you strengthen and deepen the spiritual level of your interest in astrology. So it's not an intense technical retreat; it's more experiential, and it's meant to support and strengthen the spiritual foundation of our practice of astrology.
It's about connecting with the oracle and how to develop and cultivate that relationship, which is the same spiritual intelligence that's behind tarot, behind the I Ching, behind all the different divinatory languages and systems that we use. So check it out. Everything you need to know is on the website there; it's filling up very quickly.
Just to let you guys know, there's an early bird sale until October 1. But plan ahead. This is an absolutely amazing retreat. I think it's easily the best event that I've hosted at Nightlight in you know sixteen years of doing this. So I highly recommend coming. It's in Minnesota. The retreat center is here, south of the Twin Cities.
But again, everything you need to know is on the page right there. Go to the shop page and check out my books. The book, my new book, The Oracle Speaks, is out. Been telling you guys about it for a while. If you check it out, you liked it, leave me a review on Amazon; that really helps.
Also, the Audible version should be coming out soon. And if you go to events, click on Community Quiet, Daily Meditation at Nightlight. I try to make sure it's known every single day that you can meditate with us for free. So check out the schedule, the Zoom link to join, the password, everything you need to know is right there.
Okay, well, on that note, let's turn our attention to Nichepso. You guys know this is the affiliate program. I'm an affiliate for this software program. Twenty percent off discount perpetually on your monthly subscription is available when you use the affiliate code in the comments or the description of the video.
It's an absolutely awesome astrology program. The guys are coming out, I believe it's August 24. They're coming. They'll be doing a live stream, and I'll have an announcement about it when it's coming. But they're going to come and tell you about all the newest updates too.
So, all right, what are we taking a look at here? We're moving through the month. We are moving through the month of. Whoops, I'm sorry. Let's get that going. Moving through the month of August, and I also have to say that if you heard, you're gonna hear me in another video this week say Happy Monday, everybody, because I accidentally misrecorded the intro to one of my videos as a Monday video.
Even though this is the video to start the week, so if that confuses anyone else, I know there's going to be people in the comments section being like, "But it's not Monday." So here I am telling you that you are going to see another video in which I tell you Happy Monday. So you can just pretend like it's a second Happy Monday.
You'll also notice as the week goes on that there are several. So because basically the schedule got thrown off, you're gonna hear me say today on Tuesday and everything's a day off. The content doesn't matter; this week is not super timing sensitive because of some of the general things we're looking at.
So it was just a goof on my part in terms of what days I had on my schedule. I sort of goofed up on that. So anyway, you'll get all the videos this week, but there may be some little lapses with what day I say it is. That's the, I don't think that's ever happened to me before, so it's bound to happen at some point.
But anywho, let's get on talking about the astrology of August. Now I don't take every last transit that's occurring. I try to stick to the big ones and talk about what I think is most important. Let's take a look at some of the biggest transits in August. Starting on August 6, Venus is going to enter the sign of Libra.
As Venus enters the sign of Libra, she will be in her own dignity, which is a great place for Venus. This is going to begin a period which we will explore actually later this week. There's a full video that you'll see where I take Venus all the way through Libra, all the aspects she's making, plus the fact that she's going to return this fall in the northern hemisphere to her domicile in Libra through her retrograde.
She's going to retrograde in Scorpio and come back for a little bit to Libra, so in a video this week I sort of outlined the big passage that Venus is about to go through. But the short version of it here is that Venus is entering her own domicile, and she will be back and forth to Libra all the way through about December.
That means that there's a period of time in which her significations are strengthened and expressed with greater ease and coherence and, you might say, strength. That generally means for Venus in Libra that relationships, diplomacy, beauty, art, pleasure, social connections are more favorable, smoother, more harmonious, or able to rebound from difficulties because of that added grace that Venus tends to bring in Libra.
Venus in Libra will be naturally seeking things like harmony and reciprocity, fairness, proportionality, balance, good taste and judgment of things and situations. It's a very, it's a really favorable period for relationships or negotiating agreements or negotiating disagreements or finding peace, or restoring balance, or beautifying our surroundings. Nice Venus.
Now the shadow, of course, can be like that excessive accommodating energy, not knowing how to stand up for oneself. And there are going to be several aspects we'll look at as the month goes on, where Venus is in opposition to Neptune and Saturn. Those may bring up tensions in relationships between, say, independence and the themes of dependency.
How much should we depend on others? How are we relational beings, and how are we independent in nature? And there will be tensions between those dynamics as the month rolls on, and the need to balance those situations Venus should be very good at. Well, going forward, the first aspect of the month on my list that's really significant is going to be Venus's opposition to Neptune.
Now that comes through on August 10, so we're gonna see this up. Whoa, the big arrow's out. It has been a long time, my friend. You know, I've legitimately missed the big arrow. So it feels good. It was like I think maybe I hurt its feelings at some point along the way. You never know.
Okay, Venus opposite Neptune on August 10, this is one of the defining moments of Venus's transit through Libra, where Neptune can, with Venus, spiritualize and romanticize matters around love, beauty, anything that requires relational tact or sensitivity can become magnified and more dramatic because Neptune can be quite theatrical.
Questions of confronting things that need balancing or mediating in relationships can be a little theatrical or a little grandiose. But there can also be with Venus Neptune oppositions kind of a profound longing for the ideal, perfect relationship, or some transcendent form of art or beauty. It's a really good transit for imagination, poetry, music.
There's a devotional quality to Venus Neptune, and it favors things that are very compassionate, sensitive, subtle, and aesthetically pleasing. But projections with this transit can also easily replace reality. Right, so you want to be careful of attractive illusions and of things that call to you and that you long for, but that may not be as substantive or long-lasting as they appear.
So, can we be open to the enchantment of Venus Neptune this month without losing our grounding or discernment? I think that's always a question with Venus Neptune, but this transit will also bring up that theme of interdependence versus independence, and those things are always being negotiated and renegotiated in our relationships, whether it's business relationships or intimacy or friendships or work, work, work and life balance.
So, a good Venus transit to consider. Let's go along. The next day, the very next day, August 11, Mars will enter Cancer, and this is also going to be one of the more powerful transits of the year, just in terms of the dignity. Mars in Cancer is in its fall.
You recently saw a video on the channel where I take you through the 2024 and 25 Mars retrograde in Cancer. This is the first time since that period that Mars is back in the sign of Cancer, and so we're going to be probably hearing some echoes of those past timelines in this transit of Mars in Cancer. Mars in its fall, its kind of direct cutting confrontational nature is less at home and less at ease.
It's just a tricky combination here that can bring up some difficult themes. For example, when action becomes emotionally fueled and protective and defensive, it can be a little bit like acting on pure emotion without thinking things through. But also that protective defensive energy usually orients toward things like home and family and memory and the past, sensitive places that might need protecting or that are more vulnerable.
And anger, of course, can become more indirect. Like it can be sort of moody, a little passive aggressive. There can be like letting something sort of boil beneath the surface until there's an emotional explosion. These are the things that you typically have to be careful of with Mars in Cancer.
But Mars in Cancer is also about overcoming circumstances that can make you feel disempowered, or weak, or vulnerable, and then developing strength in light of those circumstances. You've heard me a few times mention Lionel Messi, who I was looking at his chart during the World Cup this summer and realizing, oh, Mars in Cancer, and read his story.
Turns out he had a human growth hormone deficiency as a kid. Now I think I've mentioned this a couple times this summer, so it doesn't mean that Mars in Cancer is necessarily like oh you can't be the greatest soccer player of all time or something. It's not like Mars itself is helpless and can't do anything.
It's more like there are certain challenges that have to be overcome and you have to rise up to sort of meet them when a planet is in its fall. So we could be seeing something like that while Mars is in Cancer. Now the total stay I outlined in another video, but let's just review that really briefly here.
So Mars is going to go through Cancer and won't leave Cancer until about late September. I think it's, what is it here? Yeah, so it's like the 27th into the 28th, so August 11th to the end of September is what we're looking at in terms of the timeline for this transit. Let's go back just a touch.
So let me get this set up again. Okay, so that's Mars in Cancer. Some things to watch for there. I do think that's one of the more difficult Mars transits of the year, especially because I do think it's going to bring up, like I said, a kind of echo of the Mars retrograde that we worked through in 24 and 25.
Now, on that same day, Mercury is also opposite Pluto, which, you know Mars enters its fall while Mercury opposes Pluto, and it makes me feel like we might be confronting something a little charged, like mental and emotional dynamics feel a little heated. Mercury opposite Leo, or excuse me, in Leo, opposite Pluto in Aquarius, on August 11th could mean that the things that we're talking about or thinking about are quite intense.
That we have to be really strategic, or that there's things that are hidden that we're wondering if we should come out with or not. Mercury in Leo will often speak with a lot of personal heart and conviction, and Pluto in Aquarius will question where that voice belongs in terms of social constructs, ideas, and ideologies.
There can be sort of the Leo Aquarius thing we've been talking about a lot, which the upcoming eclipse is touching on as well, right? Collective versus social, collective and social pressures on the individual, and individual pushback to collective and social pressures, conformity, nonconformity, originality, heart-centeredness, but also social responsibility.
There's a pretty heated moment here with this Mercury opposite Pluto dynamic, as Mars is also entering Cancer, and then the very next day we have the solar eclipse in Leo. Now that's a pretty powerful reset that we've spent a lot of time talking about, and at the end of this week, I have a video devoted to talking about the South Node solar eclipse, and then we'll have horoscopes and everything else.
So we're going to spend a lot of time with this one. But whether you know, in the mundane sphere, I anticipate maybe some things happening with people who are famous or visible leaders. You know the quintessential Leonic qualities, and when something gets eclipsed in Leo, it's never a surprise.
A solar eclipse in Leo or the Sun Pluto, these kinds of dynamics often result in very famous people that have a very kind of solar archetypal quality to them passing away, or transitions of leadership occurring, and changes in how things are being led, or revelations about people who are in the spotlight.
There could be a bit of that happening in the collective, but more personally, I think that there's a new beginning that's taking place around this eclipse, but its meaning has to unfold gradually over time. We have a whole year with a second solar eclipse in Leo in August of 2027.
So, what is the most authentic heart-centered version of yourself, and what has to be released, or what are we removing or letting go of, very South Node, so that this new approach to life, this new sense of meaning and purpose can emerge? I think that's probably what is at the heart of all of this.
But some of the pressures around that, like the flame on the burners, is getting hotter and more intense. And you could think of this Mercury Pluto dynamic as starting to turn up the heat on what the eclipse is trying to point out or reveal to us. Now, a few days later, on August 15, we go forward just a little bit.
On August 15, then we're going to see, let me circle it here. Mercury conjoining Pluto, or excuse me, Mercury conjoining Jupiter in Leo. Now, I actually like this, although it could be a little bit like a bit of bravado or exaggeration or grandstanding, or that sort of overly confident bluster and arrogance.
Like it could be kind of a big mouthed, obnoxiously self-centered kind of expression, but I think there's generosity, there's leadership, there's creativity, there's a moment of speaking something or teaching something or being guided in heart and mind. Jupiter and Mercury, when they come together, especially in the sign of Leo, the Sun's sign, and right after this eclipse, it almost feels like it's seeding us with the confidence to begin the chapter, the new chapter that the eclipse is opening up.
Or they're giving some strategy, or some clear plans, or maybe a clear announcement or communication of some kind is coming through. You also may find that there are some kind of resource that is opening up. Mercury Jupiter is often a transit that comes when, for example, an abundance of time becomes available to you, or an abundance of money, or an abundance of creativity.
You know, I get into flow states when I'm writing sometimes, where it just starts pouring out. Mercury Jupiter reminds me of that, where there's just an abundance of some kind of resource that's made available for a craft or a skill or an activity or a creative project, and things can come together because all of the details are supported, and there's a kind of a smoothness to the way that something's able to be transmitted.
But I think you know a big plan with attention to details comes to my mind, or words that encourage and inspire the heart. These are the kinds of things that I'm thinking about here. Let's go on to the 21st. I do think this is probably the most difficult transit of the month outside of any potential eclipse energy, because eclipses, you know, you never know exactly what they're going to bring, especially if they hit someplace pretty personal in the chart.
But here we have Venus in Libra opposing Saturn in Aries, and I do believe that this is the most, probably the most intense transit of the month. Relationships and agreements with other people, creative projects, collaborations are being tested, and they're being tested to see if they can withstand or endure some kind of oppositional tension or challenge, a roadblock, a problem, a conflict.
You can feel a little distant, or there can be issues around rejection or loneliness, or you know, Venus wants things to be together. Saturn in Aries is sometimes more on the independent side of things, and so there again can be conflicts between that relational level, where we are our relationships, and that personal space where I am independent and apart from any relationship in my life.
I'm an individual. How we create boundaries in our relationships between our needs and meeting the needs of the people that we love and making sure our needs are being met. How we carry responsibilities, how we share the load of life. These are all questions that are being looked at very carefully, maybe even scrutinized under the lens of this transit.
Saturn can also bring a lot of stability to Venus, where when Venus and Saturn get together, it's a bit like the aging of fine wine. There's maturity around love and relationships. There's the honoring of commitment, the development of trust over long periods of time, so it's also a useful moment for passing the test or seeing the harvest that you've reaped from what's been sown.
Venus Saturn can crystallize good things in relationships simply because they've stood the test of time and gone through certain kinds of confrontations and crises and conflicts. Now, on August 25, Mercury will enter Virgo. I'm not going to say much about this, other than to mention that this is a really strong period of dignity for Mercury in Virgo.
Mercury will go through the Cazimi on August 27, just a couple of days later, and this Cazimi is taking place basically at the exact same time as the lunar eclipse. So this lunar eclipse takes place on August 28, depending on the time of day and the coast you're on and so forth. It's late 27th into early 28th in my time zone.
But the point that I want to highlight here is that Mercury is at the heart of the Sun, and then moments after it departs from the heart of the Sun, the eclipse comes through. Now remember that we just had a full moon that was opposite a Jupiter Cazimi, so these Cazimi moments are pretty interesting around the lunations recently.
Now, when it comes to Mercury in Virgo and this heart of the Sun moment, Mercury is already protected from the combustion by virtue of being in its own sign and exaltation. But Mercury is especially capable and precise and discerning, analytical, organized, crafty, technically savvy, practical with regard to problem solving. It's a pretty good placement for Mercury that we're going to have for several weeks now.
It's good for things like editing or studying or skill development, research, accounting, refining things carefully, editing things. The shadow of any Virgo transit, but especially Mercury, will be the kind of nervous, over analytical, anxious, excessively critical, lost in minor detail kind of Virgo stuff. But then we move into the lunar eclipse, and that's on August 28.
Lunar eclipses are full moons, so they're times of culmination and release. Something is reaching its fullness, and then from this moment forward, the waning begins. So it is the culmination and fulfillment of a cycle of activity that's been happening in the whole sign house of Pisces in your birth chart.
We're going to look at that through horoscopes later this month, but I believe that this will be about faith in spiritual or religious themes, imaginative, artistic themes, emotional, compassionate, empathetic themes. You're going to see a very powerful kind of emotional culmination in that whole sign house of Pisces in your chart come late August.
That's only a partial lunar eclipse, but in my experience, they're still strong, especially if they land somewhere sensitive in the birth chart. What's interesting to me is this: this lands pretty close to Famalo, which is a fixed star that has a lot to do with things like spiritual communities. So it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
Now, on August 28, the exact same day, the Sun is also square to Uranus. Now, the reason I think that's important is obviously this means that the lunar eclipse is also squared to Uranus. So that lunar eclipse with Mercury square Uranus, the Sun square Uranus, the full moon square Uranus, that's a pretty big deal.
We're looking at, I think, some pretty, what do I want to say here? The kind of eccentric and original freedom-loving quality of Uranus in Gemini is having a pretty significant contribution to whatever the full moon emotional kind of culmination or breakthrough in Pisces is bringing. So that was convoluted. Let me say that again.
When a full moon is already a great moment of culmination, add to it lunar eclipse energy, and you're talking about a longer cycle of karmic activity that's coming to a point of release. It's finished. Full moons represent the fullness of something, like the peak of the fever before it breaks. So it's a peak state happening in a very imaginative, emotional, religious, spiritual, mystical sign of Pisces.
But it's got this Uranian quality. It's very mercurial, so there's something inventive and unusual and sort of eccentric about this eclipse that is being activated. The Sun, Mercury square Uranus are very inventive, very original, and constitute real breakthroughs in what we want to be doing with our life, how we're thinking about things, what things our mind is finding stimulating.
That paired with the lunar eclipse, to me suggests that this is not an eclipse to sleep on. We're going to be spending a lot of time with this one later this month for that reason. Finally, the last transit of the month that I have my eye on is Jupiter's trine to Saturn. Let me just say a little bit about this.
We're going to spend some pretty serious time with this one too, because the Jupiter-Saturn cycle is historically a pretty big deal. Those Jupiter-Saturn cycles speak to pretty big, significant changes of meaning, purpose, and life direction, undergoing changes in beliefs or belief systems, religious institutions, places that are supposed to be the institutions that organize and grant coherence and meaning to the human experience: the courts, government, religion, education, infrastructure.
Even the trine between the two since the opening, which was back in 2020, the end of 2020 in Aquarius, their trine as they're moving toward the full moon of their cycle represents a time of building consensus, building momentum, developing things that seeded back in the Aquarius opening. So we're going to spend some significant time with that.
But what I'm used to seeing with the Jupiter Saturn trine periods, as I've mapped them out in the past for you guys on the channel, you've probably, if you've been on the channel for a while, then you may remember me mapping these Jupiter Saturn moments out. Maybe the past couple years, I did so a few times.
In my life, I've noticed that they always coincide with moments where things that I've been in the process of learning start really taking hold and starting to affect systematic change in my life. The value of meditation, or my work with entheogens, or my study of astrology, a lot of it for me has been the spiritual and sort of philosophical frameworks of my life, and how they're building out and changing larger structures like my career or the internal workings of Nightlight Astrology or the YouTube channel.
And I find that my evolution of understanding of wisdom in my life, it's slow like everyone, but the little growth of wisdom that I have seems to be shaping and reshaping and molding the structures of my life in pretty amazing ways right around these spaces of the Jupiter Saturn cycle. So we'll look at that later this month as well.
So what I'm doing this month, because we have so many specific horoscopes we're doing, is on some months when it's like this, it's eclipse season. There's going to be multiple times where we're doing horoscopes. I'm not going to do like a monthly horoscope. I'm going to do a monthly overview and save horoscopes closer to the big dates during the month, and probably do several of them.
Whereas other months, I may start off the month with a horoscope of the month ahead or something like that, if the month is a little quieter. So that's how I'll handle this. But I'll always try to do an overview for the month, as I have always done in the past. Although we had over the past couple years, we had teams of collaborators with me.
But I mentioned earlier this summer that became a lot of work to manage, so I'm back to doing it myself. But yeah, that is that's it for today. I hope that you enjoyed this overview. Again, apologies when you see that the mention of little timing windows throughout the week might be like a day off. That's because I accidentally recorded Tuesday's episode as Monday.
So oh, I love you guys. Hope you're having a good day. Bye.
