A Storm Brewing: Mercury and Mars in Scorpio Approach a Conjunction — What to Watch For!

Today we're going to take a look at Mercury approaching Mars to form a conjunction in the sign of Scorpio, anytime that a planet gets within three degrees of making an aspect to another planet. It's said to be in an engagement with that planet. We're going to take a look at that today.

Give you the timeline of the mercury Mars conjunction that's coming up and talk about what you can start watching for now. This is a sort of slow burn between these two planets. So it's good to be aware of what the two planets bring in combination.

And here's the thing is that a lot of people will sort of be self taught, piecing things together around the internet, which is great. There's a lot of really good information out there, but at a certain point in time, studying with a lineage, in a community, with a curriculum and an approach and a structure, not just a structure that I've created, although a lot of creativity has gone into the structure of our programs, but also one that has been given to me by teachers that sense of there being a lineage and an approach that's repeatable and that gives you some anchoring for sorting through all of the information out there.

I think that is one of the best reasons to study astrology, in addition to the fact that the approach we take is all about using this as a spiritual practice for your life. Okay. On that note, let's turn our attention to the real time clock. Here we go. So here we are, Wednesday, the 15th, and I just want you to notice that mercury is within that three degree range of Mars, almost perfectly here this morning, Wednesday, October 15.

And let's watch the timeline of these two planets as they connect. Now I am going to take everything out of the chart here, except for. Theory and Mars, to simplify our view, I take this forward. Thursday, they're to a little less than two degrees, and we're going to go forward another they're staying around two degrees, a little less than two degrees.

By Friday, they get to within about one degree by Saturday, they're less than a degree away on Sunday, and they completely conjunct Sunday into Monday. I have a full video dedicated plus horoscopes dedicated to this next week. So we're going to be looking at this several times, but today, as the two planets are approaching and within that three degree range, you are going to start noticing or feeling something.

So I want to give you a list of five things to watch for. And these five things to watch for are, quite simply, the things to watch for over the course of the rest of this week into early next week, even as they're separating within three degrees, that's going to take us through most of next week.

So you got about a full seven to 10 days of these two planets really alchemically cooking and and maybe, if we're lucky, imparting some real lessons and wisdom for us. I think that this pairing, especially given the strength of Mars in Scorpio, one of its own signs, a very deep, penetrating, transformational water sign that often brings great emotional transformation when, when we allow feelings and emotional intelligence to work at their best during a transit like this, we often become wiser, more compassionate, more sensitive people, but we also have to be willing to face some fears, say or do or look at some hard things, explore the shadows.

That's all part of Mercury and Mars in Scorpio. But anyway, here are five things to watch for, and the way that I want you to think about this is these are things that are building and growing and developing, and may sort of pop on around Monday or late Sunday into Monday, but they're building now.

So start watching for these things now, and it's going to be a little bit easier to deal with, rather than everything that's sort of exploding at once, which they are prone to do in the sign of Scorpio, by the way.

So here are five things to watch for in no particular order. One is that when we put Mercury and Mars together in this deep water sign, this deep feminine water sign of autumn, we can get the combination of mental Mercury an emotional build up that is reaching a point of critical mass.

There's a hexagram in the I Ching number 28 that's called critical mass, and it shows like a ridge, a ridge pole that is holding everything up, sagging, getting to the point where it's going to collapse and break.

Now, that might sound a little extreme, or even, I don't know it could be sound a little bit scary, but where there is mental and emotional tension, Mercury building toward that, conjunction with Mars can bring us to a breaking point mentally and emotionally.

We all know what that's like. I think, for example, of the breaking points I get to with my kids, sometimes, you know, it's like, like, it's like, death by 1000 paper cuts. Little Things are building up, and then all of a sudden, you know, I have a daddy meltdown.

This kind of mental, emotional build up, because we can stay out in front of it with astrology. Is worth paying attention to. Don't let small little moments of aggression or passive aggression or resentment or jealousy or bitterness or anger frustration, don't let them build to a point where it becomes destructive and everything falls apart all at once.

So watch for that mental and emotional build up, starting now, peaking Sunday into Monday. Number two, one thing that's wonderful about Mercury and Mars and Scorpio is the ability that they have together to probe, to examine, to explore, to investigate, to get to the bottom of things.

And so I want you to also pay attention to what you're starting to investigate, what questions, what probing, what seeking of understanding is taking hold of you right now. What are the things that you're trying to understand or get to the bottom of?

Maybe it's happening in therapy. Maybe it's a conversation that's continuing to develop and get a little bit deeper and more consequential within a relationship. Maybe it's a form of research you're doing at work or in a in a educational setting.

But watch the deeper, exploring, examining, investigating that may lead to a moment of you know, breakthrough and understanding, Mercury and Mars together can represent a moment of intellectual clarity Mars. Think about Mars like heat and fire and mercury as the mind.

When the two come together, the mind can suddenly spark into a flame of understanding and greater awareness. And so, just in the same way that a mental emotional, you know, can reach a boiling point mentally and emotionally. We can also reach a moment of greater clarity and understanding in a process that we're deepening into.

Somehow, number three is a moment of individuation. So Mercury and Mars together, often though it is mental, verbal, emotion. Internal communicative can come together to represent a moment of articulating something truer or real or more authentic about who we are.

Sometimes that realization, especially in a deep water sign like Scorpio, is very internal, and nothing needs to be said at all. However, Mercury does like to talk, and so it wouldn't be surprising to see these two planets come together and need to say something or speak something, or explain something, or express an emotion.

And the purpose of doing that is to step more fully into who we are or who we're becoming. And that's very common for Mars in general. But when these two planets come together, you can think about the opportunity as one, a building kind of crisis of individuation.

The reason I use the word crisis is because Mars does have an edge. This is very powerful water sign that loves transformation, that process of destruction and regeneration that's part of the yin and the autumn, zodiacally speaking, so reaching a moment of catharsis that is really about you becoming more of who you are or or kind of being assertive in some way, or saying, I need to be more authentic.

But watch for this moment of individuation that is building, and don't wait until you have to scream and yell and throw a complete tantrum to, you know, to to get there. Number four, a messenger working its way into speak.

Let's get a little bit more spiritual and a little otherworldly here, Mercury and Mars can speak to messengers from the dead, from dreams, from synchronicities, from animal spirits, or from the spirits of nature, the idea that something is coming to speak very directly, maybe very strongly, very assertively, maybe even aggressively, a voice, a messenger of some kind that's coming into your life, and could even be a little shadowy, a little dark, a little hard to see or understand, or could be coming in.

A Message often comes into our lives through moods and landscapes emotionally and psychically that sort of become pervasive, and then they back away and they disappear pretty quickly. I mean, this is a week long, but watch for the messenger to come in with something very direct that it wants to communicate, maybe very deep and a little intense emotionally.

But just kind of keep your eyes open for the messenger. It's another way of thinking about this transit that I think can be really helpful and sometimes puts us in a better mindset. Anyway. Number five would be a conflict brewing.

Look, when these two planets come together, one of the things that can come about is mental, ideological, intellectual, even moral sparring. So the idea that there's a boiling point happening, that it needs to express itself in terms of mental, emotional, verbal conflict is possible.

Sometimes we shy away from conflicts because we think they're immoral. I think conflict when there is some ability to hold the dignity and respect for the other person, there are non violent forms of communication, in other words, that can occur and allow for a pretty intense difference between people to exist.

But watch for mental, verbal, emotional aggressiveness, or competitiveness or passive aggressiveness, and also the tendency to be moving towards some kind of moment of conflict, and how can we mitigate that a little bit?

How can we just find some release valves here or there? One of the things for me working out, sitting in silence, even obviously, my work as an astrologer is work, but getting to contemplate and reflect on these patterns and themes is such a blessing that really does allow me to get some perspective.

So if astrology does that for you, this is the whole purpose of thinking about it in this way, is so that we can say, oh, there's that. I see the conflict brewing. I can say, like a little storm cloud moving in rather than running out, you know, with a metal pole and getting electrocuted.

I'm going to be very thoughtful about how I engage with this kind of psychic weather front, knowing that there may be some conflicts that are coming that could be a lot worse if I'm not careful with them.

So these are all ways that we can have of preparing ourselves given the three degree range of their meeting that is now in effect. That's it. That's all I have for today. I wanted this to be simple and useful. I hope that it is also after I sign off.
