Venus is about to station retrograde in Scorpio, and the question is not whether love will change, but what you are willing to see beneath its surface. From October 3 to November 14, Venus turns inward in the fixed water of Scorpio while Mars opposes Pluto and Mercury joins the T-square. This is one of 2026’s more powerful windows—not for spectacle, but for soul.
Together we’ll explore where things pool: shared resources, unspoken contracts, desire, jealousy, grief, and the quiet restlessness that keeps you from settling. Venus retrograde in Scorpio drags up what has been hidden. It asks you to meet your attachments honestly, to feel the depth of what you want, and to choose whether you will be ruled by it or refined by it.
This is fertile ground, though not always gentle. It can be creative, clarifying, and humbling. If you stay with the process rather than the drama, you may discover a deeper intimacy with your own psyche.
The station is a Saturnian moment—a threshing, a reaping. Something reaches its limit, and transformation begins. Venus in Scorpio does not let desire hide.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we're going to take a look at Venus's upcoming retrograde in Scorpio, and this week's astrology is just packed. We've got Mars moving into an opposition with Pluto at the same exact time that Venus is going to turn retrograde. Mercury's getting in on the T square to Pluto and Mars, like nuts. So, and every once in a while, we go through these windows. Every calendar year, I look at the astrology of the year ahead. I always circle the spaces where it's a little treacherous. Now, these spaces are also meant for us. They're designed for our spiritual growth. I believe that to be true because I've seen it enough to have literally experienced that over and over again, but it doesn't make it any less harrowing to know there's some difficult transits, some more intense transits coming up.
So hopefully, what we're doing today by looking at this is preparing you with some deep insight. We're going to be spending time today looking specifically at the deep watery nature of Scorpio and what that might bring up in particular. But we'll be covering this from the standpoint of your horoscopes later in the week, we'll be doing Mars Pluto horoscopes, so a lot to get to. Before we get into it, remember to like and subscribe. It helps our channel grow so much and sustain what we do. When you give us that little thumbs up, turn on notifications, all the good things. Transcripts of any of these daily talks are always on the website.
That's nightlightastrology.com. When you're over there, a couple of brief promotions. Go to my books. My book, The Oracle Speaks. I just got a really nice review from an organization in the UK. That was really cool. Maybe I'll have to share a link to that. I was like so proud that someone gave such a lovely, thoughtful review from an astrological organization. Anyway, sorry, can't talk. Audiobook is there, so you can get an audible version. The audible version of the book I narrated it, so I hope you'll enjoy that. Go to book a reading. My readings are available again.
I've been able to keep up with them enough that not have to close my books, which has been awesome. So if you like a reading with me, I do birth chart readings. All you have to do when you fill out the form is tell me specifically what you're looking for. Is it a general purpose reading? Is it a year ahead reading? Is it a topic of love? I mean, whatever you want, it's sort of a la carte. So you just tell me. Now, if you can't afford a reading with me, check out the need based astrology readings with our staff. Those are available for you as well. Also, a couple of other things. One is our courses.
First year course, Ancient Astrology for the Modern Mystic, begins again november 14. Early bird registration is open right now. Need based tuition is there, so if you need some help within a sliding scale, we try to make sure that nobody's priced out of studying astrology. So take advantage of that. Just apply for need based tuition if you like a little assistance. At the end of today's video, you can see the video right here. There's an informational video all about our programs, which are now APAI certified, which means we are part of a list of schools who's been accredited by a very reputable organization, and I really that means a lot to me.
So it's a really great place to get your professional certification if you want to do that, over three years of our curriculum need to be completed. But this is step one in that process. Many people also take the course just for their own interest or because it's your hobby, you know, and so forth. So it's a pretty welcoming program. Check it out. The only other thing I will mention is that our speaker series is coming up. These are all free to register for. We've got three great speakers. Sam Reynolds, who just won a Regulus Award, is also giving a talk. And yeah, great lineup. These are all free. Check out the speaker series. Those are in October, so you can check those out.
All right, let's head over to Nichepso and let's take a look at our transit. Now, Nachepso is the official astrology software that I use. The discount for perpetual 20% off is in the comments or description. All right, all of that good stuff being said, let's take a look at what's happening Tuesday, september 29. You can see that Venus is at the eighth degree of Scorpio right here. Now that means that Venus is about to turn retrograde. I'm going to advance this. You're going to see that Venus is barely moving. Stations Friday, retrograde by Saturday, october 3. Now Venus is going to be retrograde from October 3 all the way till november 14, where you can see the station here.
Venus will be in Libra at that point in time, but will turn direct by the 14th into the 15th of November. So quite a process that we're going to be going through. It's about 40 days long. Venus retrogrades are so during that period of time. Like one thing that's I think really important to note as we're getting closer to the beginning of this retrograde is that stations tend to be the moment let's call it a Saturnian moment all when when we get to a planet's maximum elongation it reaches its limit in all limits. And synodic cycles are derived from the symbolism of Saturn. That's why the opposition was said to be of the nature of Saturn.
That's the farthest something can get away from its starting point in a synodic cycle, like a full moon. We call this a harvest moment. Remember, Saturn is exalted in the sign of Libra, opposite the sign of Aries, where the sun is exalted. It reaches its maximum extension across the circle, we get the fall harvest. So station points are very Saturnian in the sense that there's a kind of a threshing and a reaping of what's been sown, and that can be very positive. It doesn't have to be negative, but it usually means that something has reached its limit, and a transformation will begin right at the point of the stationing.
That can make stations in a place like Scorpio, where Venus is debilitated, being in a Mars ruled sign, a little bit more intense. That station is also happening. I want to point out as Mars is opposing Pluto, and as Mercury is getting in on the T square. I mean, that's just that's that's remarkable. It's a very powerful sequence of events, so we want to pay attention to things like that. Now that is what makes this transit one of the more powerful windows of 2026. We've had a number of them. Eclipse season in August was quite powerful. The last part of July, Jupiter opposite Pluto, quite powerful.
This is right up there, and this is also reactivating the Jupiter Pluto opposition. And so, you know, this is a time where things can be rehashed and looked at from about late July through August, but it's also its own territory, quite frankly, because the Venus retrograde simultaneous is a very powerful addition to that Leo Aquarius conversation. Now we'll have more to say about this. If you missed yesterday's episode on the Mars opposition to Pluto, I highly recommend checking that out for another yet another take. We turn the jewel here. We just keep turning the jewel, catching the light, bouncing off from it at different angles, gives us different insights into the patterns that are present.
So today I want to talk about the deep yin, the solid fixed water of Scorpio, and what Venus might be bringing up for us within this space. So the first thing on my list is where things pool together. I thought that Chris Brennan did a really wonderful job on his astrology podcast recapping Venus retrograde cycles. You know, I Chris has been a friend and a colleague for a long time. I've been on the show a few times. It's been a while, but and you know, Chris is is someone who's really good when it comes to the historical research, mundane astrology and events like that. And one of the things that I wasn't surprised to find out about watching that show, which I recommend checking out if you haven't checked it out.
But one of the reasons that I appreciated that particular episode was that it brought up some themes collectively that are really applicable for us personally as well. And one of them that really struck me was the amount of things that have changed under Venus retrogrades in the financial systems of the world, loans and interest rates and markets and regulatory marketing things that the government does and so forth. And I was thinking about that. I was thinking, what does that translate to for us personally? How does that translate personally? And one of the things that I immediately thought of is, you know, in modern astrology we associate through the what's called the 12 letter alphabet we have associated Scorpio with the eighth house.
Now I I'm not I'm I'm someone who teaches that there's actually a fundamental difference between the rationale behind houses and signs and we shouldn't conflate them. So I don't think about Scorpio as the eighth house. But one of the reasons it there's some resemblance there is because of the solid fix nature of water that I think bears some resemblance to to the eighth house themes that we think about, like pooled assets or resources, shared assets or resources, soul contracts with other people and so forth. Now, what I what I know to be true about Scorpio is that that deep water is like a big lake, and everything that like water gathers together, it it it it runs down the hill and it like joins with itself.
You know the the drops and the rivulets they come together and they create a lake or a pond. One thing that happens in our life is we develop pools of resources from banking to investments to emotional resources that we have invested in other people's or other people or in communities is what I'm trying to say. Relationships and so forth, and when a Venus retrograde in Scorpio occurs, just like in the you know the the on the collective level, things can change around like banking and loans and interest rates and markets and so forth. The nature of soul contracts with other people and how the give and take of those soul contracts work, and how we share resources or distribute them or redistribute them, or the conflicts that arise because of resources, contracts, etc.
And what makes it especially challenging is that water is so subjective, so personal, and so emotional that when we think about assets or resources that are tied together in Scorpio, there is a sense in which they're tied together in ways that are deeply emotional, that involve desire and attachment, and that involve interpersonal spaces where the desires are not merely being thought of as practical or financial or tangible. They're also, again, like highly, highly sensitive because they're we have personal investment and attachment emotionally to them, and so where things pool together here on my list is a way of saying you're going to be looking at different kinds of of resources, how they're allocated, shared, exchanged, the agreements around them.
But it's sometimes it's hard because those resources are going to have a lot of very deep emotional attachments or investments in them, and that's where the potential for conflict and entanglement and disentanglement can occur as a matter of healing or clarifying something, as a matter of saying it's great that you have this resource, but not if it is something that's got its claws in you somehow, or or there's a poison in there's like a almost like a a poisonous arrangement of some kind. These things can be purged, cleansed, healed, rearranged. But that also means that certain kinds of really sensitive places for us will be, you know, we have to renegotiate things that are taking place in these sensitive spaces. It's hard sometimes to be rational, so keep all of that in mind.
That's number one. Number two is what's deep down. Again, with the water, this is a water that's like you know 60 feet deep. It's really deep. You can't see the bottom, and there might be things deep down there. I want to tell you a story that I heard recently that I thought was really interesting. We were looking when we were looking at different houses out in the country. Eat me a lot of peaches every time. I don't know if you guys saw that episode last week, but every time I think about moving to the country, I think of that stupid peaches song. So anyway, we're out there and we're hearing this story about like a lake that's out there, and apparently the way that the lake came about was through some kind of flooding.
Anyway, but apparently it happened so quickly that someone was in a in the vicinity of the basin where the flood happened with a tractor, and they had to get out so quickly that the tractor is just at the bottom of the lake. Still, I thought that was kind of neat. It's like this weird omen. I find things like that really fascinating. So, at the bottom of the lake, there's a tractor, but there's. I got me thinking about it because I was thinking about how Venus retrogrades drag things up from the bottom. Another piece that I thought was really interesting about the historical Venus retrograde episode Chris did was he mentioned the the tendency for things that are hidden to be revealed or to to come up into sight, and so if you can imagine, it's like you know when they when they took the the the video the the video of the Titanic, and they went down and they like had these little underwater submarines and they saw the Titanic wreckage for the first time.
This is a transit that is going to allow you to see almost like X-ray vision, some things beneath the surface that might be understanding where certain conditions are. That like, why do I have the manifestation of a certain health pattern? Ah, I'm seeing beneath the surface. I'm seeing that it has to do with an allergy that I have in my diet or anything that's about getting to the hidden bottom of it, or things that have been hidden, like coming up, and that has to do with the fact that this sign goes into these spaces that are so deep and sort of sort of murky and mysterious. So that's number two. Number Three is I called it why we can't rest, and Venus is the goddess of peace, and Venus rules all things pleasant, a nice breeze on a hot day, a picnic, you know, a date.
With your lover, it's really enjoyable. Laughter with friends, good food, the feeling of success, you know, enjoyment, ease, luxury, relaxation. These are all Venus ruled things. When Venus is in Scorpio now, Venus is in a Mars ruled sign, and so the tension that comes up is: I want to relax, but there is a sense of disease or dissatisfaction or desire that makes me restless, or confrontation or conflict emotionally, or depth that doesn't allow me to sit easy because I can feel that there's like a a cave deep below me. So this is a Venus that is going to be not the easiest Venus retrograde period in which to just like relax. It's going to be a Venus period that at least temporarily is about a kind of restlessness that may be very creative, very fertile, and I'm going to talk about that in a minute.
But a little bit of uneasiness around it, depth and intensity. I would I would liken it in the most positive way that I can think about it. I would liken it to like going out on a date with someone at a stage where you're still feeling it out. You both really like each other, but maybe you're nervous on the inside that you like them more than they like you, so there's just that like I can't quite settle into myself because there's too much at stake. I'm too excited. I'm too anxious. Those are sort of good feelings, but not really settled feelings. Venus retrograde in Scorpio can bring up things that are truly exciting, but there's still like it's not a settled feeling.
It's not a like another example of it, and I can pull on this because we're moving right. Is it's like it's fun to be envisioning how you're going to like. I'm thinking of my new YouTube space that I'm going to create, right? It's exciting to envision it. It's also really stressful to be like in the process of building and creating things, and things aren't settled, so that's a kind of Venus and Scorpio space. Venus and Scorpio can also bring the feeling that, you know, if you're in a relationship and there's just this this feeling of like there are there are things that are unspoken, that are things that are unsettled. I'm the kind of person who does not like to go to bed.
If Ashley and I are like arguing, no, I'm like, let's let's solve it and lose a little bit of sleep rather than sleeping for me terribly all night. My double Taurus wife is like, I'll sleep fine, you know. And I'm just kidding, but but I'm like, no, like let's let's get it done before we go to bed. I would rather be wrong and apologize and just fall on the sword than go to bed angry. Honestly, because it's that uncomfortable for me. But if I had to, let's say, sleep all night on an argument that just couldn't be settled before bed, that'd be very Venus and Scorpio. You know, all night long I'm sitting in that weird twilight space where you're unable to sleep, and every every three minutes you're thinking about the fact that you're not sleeping, and that the next day is going to be miserable.
But then you can't help but bounce back to obsessing over the thing that you're thinking about. You know, thankfully, I feel like for Ashley and I, those days are few and far between now. We've I feel like over time I don't know if you guys can agree, but over time with friends, lovers, you learn. It's like the best thing in the world. We just like learn how to fight well, and you learn how to avoid like conflicts. You can see them coming. You're like, oh, this is a real stupid one. Let's sidestep this, and you can both be like, gotcha. Let's let's not do that. Not that we're perfect at it, but I just do feel like I'm so much better at fighting now than I used to be.
Everything seemed like it was worth fighting for when I was younger. Now I'm like, fuck it. I'm gonna. I'm like halfway through life. I'm gonna die soon. So I'm only 45, but I, I honestly, I think I'm a little morbid. Anyway, so why you can't rest? Because Venus is retrograde in Scorpio, but there's something there, and that's why number four is fertile, but maybe destructive. This is a fertile place of discomfort. This is a fertile place of desire. This is a fertile place of conflict. The kinds of things that happen with Venus retrograde in Scorpio are can be very fertile, but also also destructive. So when when you think about this kind of this kind of energy, let's call it.
I want you to think about a good example is a breakup because it's so cliched and it's so Venus retrograde, especially in Scorpio, that breakups occur. When you go through a breakup, it's like so painful, but then in the wake of all of that betrayal. Or angst, or or grief, or whatever it is, you start realizing I'm in a whole new chapter of life, and it's kind of exciting. It's still fresh and a little bit raw, but it's very exciting. There's something like that with Venus retrograde in this water sign. Water signs were considered fertile, however, they were also called mute, which means that they had this quality of secretiveness or hiddenness to them-all water signs.
So, think of what you're going through in the next 40 days as very fertile, but it-it's not the kind of fertile that's real soft and sweet like cancer. It's a bit more tumultuous, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have really amazing creative potential in it, and that could just keep you buoyant a little bit while while all of this is happening. Now I'm I'm not the first person who's mentioned this, but quite I'm sure in the collective we are going to see with this configuration of Venus retrograde with Mars and Pluto. It's what do I want to say? It is not uncommon to see stories where love comes apart in like really destructive ways.
So the Venus retrograde can bring up things like quarrels with lovers that lead to, you know, people becoming violent at all costs. Right, avoid escalating things out of strong, wild emotions. It's hard when someone is has gone like two, three steps past the line to not be drawn across the line ourselves and to escalate and to say, well, I'm in the right. I'm gonna, I'm gonna beat this person. You know what I mean? I'm gonna win. Be careful, because when someone, if you're involved with anyone during this period, and they are taking things up way beyond what's fair or reasonable, they're not gonna stop just because you take things up in response, they're going to get crazier most likely.
So be very protective of yourself, because this is a space. When I was talking about what's deep down, that vulnerability and that sense of protectiveness that Scorpio brings up can be quite powerful. And when people, when you're, you know, it's like someone breaking up with someone, and they're like, "I'm going to make your life hell, and then you think, "No, you're not. I'm going to make your life hell. It's like, just don't do that. Don't get into the like revenge. Who can be most petty? Who can you know what I'm saying? Like, just cut ties and move on because the the creative space here can be complicated by things like revenge and jealousy and betrayal and lust and envy and it can get really really wild.
So steer clear of that kind of drama. Number five, desires can't hide. All of us have a motor inside of us, called desire. It's like a, you know, it's like an engine or something, and it's natural that we all are drawn to things. Like I want to be a great astrologer. I want to be a good dad. And there's a lot of. I'm sure people listening to this because it's a spiritual topic have a real interest in being a good person, you know, and I want to be the I want to be of service to humanity and like all this, and noble aspirations sometimes have very deep selfish motivations that we're not aware of.
It's a great transit for just getting a little bit more aware of that side of it. It's not black and white. You could want to do really good things in the world. There could be some real selfish reasons you have for doing them. Me too, and so we can get more in touch with those things and sort of complexify by by being exposed to that complexity. We can understand our own depth and complexity better and do what we're going to do, but with a little bit more self-awareness, a little less grandiosity or inflation. That's helpful. That's very humbling part of what Scorpio does. Scorpio is like the little accountability stinger for Leo the Lion.
Now, on the other hand, I think there's also a way in which we repress things that we desire. We say that's bad, can't do that. But if we don't give ourselves the chance to actually process, explore, and work through our desires, they just get-they just turn into monsters. And so, facing the monster of our desire-if we've not met it, faced it, worked with it, channeled it-that's probably a safe bet for one of the things that could come up right now. When you meet your desires, how do you deal with them? How do you acknowledge, honor them, make room for them, and then let them go, or find a healthy expression for them, and also just the honesty and relief of being real about them.
Desires can't hide when we get a Venus retrograde in Scorpio. So october 3 to november 14, buckle up. This is what we're heading toward next. I hope you're having a great day. Stick around next. I'm going to tell you about the year one program. It starts november 14. It is an excellent program, part of three years of programs that can prepare you for professional practice. I'm going to tell you all about the program next. Take it easy, everyone. Bye.
