A New Moon in Cancer: Through the 12 Houses

Hi everyone, this is Acyuta-bhava from nightlight astrology and today we are going to take a look at the new moon in cancer. So Happy New Moon everybody. A new moon in cancer happens once a year whenever the sun comes through the sign of cancer and a new moon is formed, the sun and the moon are always in a conjunction when a new moon is formed. And as someone who is born during cancer season, of course, always kind of one of my favourite new moons of the year. But this new moon cycle will feature a lot more intensity than usual. Because of the full moon that will happen. Well, what I should say is that as the full moon is happening, you're also going to get the tension of the Sun opposing Pluto. So I'll show you what this looks like. I'm going to walk this new moon through all 12 houses based on your rising sign and give you a sense of where the kind of where the action is at for you in the lunation cycle ahead. So I'm going to put the real time clock for starters. And I'm just using the traditional seven in my view for now, really just going to focus on the placement of the sun and the moon in cancer as the roots are origin of the potential action in the lunation cycle ahead. But for one minute, I want to put Pluto in just to show you what's going to happen.

So as the lunation cycle is built, first of all, you're gonna see that here we are on Friday, July, Friday into Saturday, July 9th into the 10th. You can see the new moon forming in the sign of cancer. And then what we're going to see is between the first quarter moon and the full moon, there's going to be a pretty explosive amount of drama as the sun moves through the opposition to Pluto. So watch how this unfolds. So we'll take this forward. Once we get to the first quarter moon in Libra. There we see the sun squaring the moon. As the moon has departed from their conjunction the first square it makes always the first quarter moon Moon is half lit half dark. As that's happening. The sun is opposing Pluto. So this is going to make the journey from first quarter to full moon particularly intense this month. And that's because when you have the light building on the waxing half of the moon cycle, it's very developmental dynamic period of each lunar cycle. And when that's tone at the first quarter, which is usually kind of sometimes described as a kind of a moment of initiating actions, and a moment of critical crossroads and activities within the month. That as that's happening in the sun is also moving through the opposition to Pluto. And then we give it say a three degree orb or there abouts. If I just take this forward a little bit further. Well, the sun is still about three degrees out from Pluto at 28 cancer. That's when we're starting to see the moon come into being full. So just so you guys can see what this looks like the full moon will actually take place technically in the sign of Aquarius, which is why I said it's not quite technically a full moon in Capricorn. But you'll notice how close to that full moon if we just back it up a little bit. As the full moon is forming, it's coming off from the conjunction with Pluto. So that's why this lunation cycle ahead, particularly from the first quarter moon through the full moon will be really intense. So we're looking at about July 23 for the full moon. So you're looking at probably this cycle starts on the ninth. So you could just span it out and say between the ninth and the 23rd, you're going to see this developmental tension. And it builds especially starting right around the 16th into the 17th. Okay, that's the first quarter moon.

Alright, so now what I want to do is, let's take let's take all of this and let's look at the position of the new moon according to each of the rising signs. And I'm just going to do this. I've just a few kind of hot takes that I want to run through with you guys. And hopefully it'll give you guys something good to think about as you're moving through the lunar cycle ahead.

So if you're an Aries rising, the develop in for me, the way that I tend to read transits is to look at the placements of the traditional seven. And so a new moon for me even though there's a big kind of explosive dynamic with Pluto, I'm still looking at the focus of the action being on where the sun is during that Pluto opposition from the sun. So in this case, the action is going to be where the new moon is for everybody. If you're an Aries rising that's landing in your fourth house so home family dynamics living environment, family, karma, the past, your roots, your sense of groundedness more of your private sphere of life. So watch for those things to be particularly potent. And again, if you kind of want to time it out that the most dynamic tension comes between, say, the 16th 17th and the 23rd 24th of this month.

Alright, let's move it forward to Taurus rising. Taurus rising, the third house was called the joy of the moon. And it's a very lunar house in so far as it, it speaks to the environment around us, like the water is to the fish. So if you think about very dramatic changes happening in the environment around you, this could be your mind or body could be siblings or neighbours, or your neighbourhood or community. It could be something happening to change your routine, something changing in the way that you do things every day. But watch for some pretty dynamic changes in the environment around you the mental and emotional environment, especially.

Okay, so we're going to move forward to Gemini rising. Now, if you're a Gemini rising, we're putting this into the new moon is falling into your second house, places that emphasis on money, finances, resources, business, and perhaps some tie in also with the lunar themes of family or home, or the more more emotionally vulnerable places in life with a Cancer, New Moon. So financial changes, emphasis on business and assets and resources. So watch for that to be the topic, if you're a Gemini rising

We put this into the first house if you're a cancer rising, and we're seeing an emphasis on the body, the mind the personality, the physical appearance or characteristics. So it's really it's very personal in the first house, very psychological could draw into the topic of relationships just by virtue of the fact that the opposition to Pluto will happen in the seventh. So there can be personal changes that are somehow being motored or powered by relational changes.

Well, let's go forward to Leo rising, Leo rising is going to put the new moon in cancer in the 12th house, it can be a place that is in your emotional blind spot, let's call it things that are coming up that aren't necessarily as conscious of or consciously aware of. So watch for things that are more vulnerable, that have history behind them, maybe some dimension, maybe some elements of family drama, or family karma. Also, be careful of the way that you're letting yourself be manipulated by others, or your own emotions, or be careful not to manipulate others. But deeper, more, I would say shadowy emotional things that you're looking at this month, if you're a Leo rising with the new moon in your 12th.

We go forward to Virgo rising and we're going to see the new moon in your 11th house a place of community groups, friends, allies, I look at this as the opportunity for perhaps growth and development around friends are within groups of people. I really like that one. Perhaps, gatherings of people gatherings of family, even if you're a Virgo rising being being important.

If we go forward from here to Libra rising, the action, the cancer, New Moon is falling in your 10th house, that's a place of career, the lunar cycle ahead could feature a lot of emphasis on what you're doing in the world, maybe your sense of future direction, and maybe simultaneously the way that it relates to home or family.

So if you're a Scorpio rising, this is falling into your ninth house, that's going to be the place of the higher mind the pursuit of truth, your guiding principles or beliefs, the things that guide your actions in the world because I believe in this, I care about this. It's your ninth house. So watch for the action and transformation and intensity in that house this month.

If you're a Sagittarius rising is going to fall into your eighth house. I like to call this especially with cancer in the eighth a place of emotional obligations, what are they? What should they be what Shouldn't they be things that you owe others or that others owe you that you help others with that they help you with perhaps the topic of money and relationships are coming up, death or change, death and rebirth, so to speak, in the family. You could see some of those things coming up. Because the eighth house also is a bit like the death card in Tarot in that there's sometimes critical endings or most like karmic bills that are due but then there's a feeling of being debt free afterward often enough.

Alright, so if we put Capricorn rising then we're taking the Cancer New Moon we're putting it into the seventh house, place of relationships, a heavy focus on relationships, or could be the family of a partner like family. Some changes going on in the in the lives of family members of a spouse or partner. Sometimes it's going to be marriage. Sometimes it's going to be children. Sometimes it's going to be the theme of debate. Stick life for the need for some kind of emotional catharsis within a relationship. So there's a lot of emphasis there. But sometimes the tie over with family or partners family can also be really strong. So watch for that the big changes to come in the relationship house.

Now if you're an Aquarius rising, we're taking this new moon, let me just back this up a tiny bit here. The new moon will fall into your sixth house. Now, for aquarians, I could see this one being a little bit more challenging in terms of deeper and more kind of trying emotional conflicts or emotional tests. Because the six was called the joy of Mars and tends to be a house of conflict or toil or struggle or strife, but also hard work. So you think of, you know, cancer in that sphere, and you think of the potential for there to be strife conflict or challenge in the home or in the family or around domestic lunar re lunar types of things. But also potentially the emotional commitment to things like I'm being driven by emotional convictions this month, and perhaps the need to address things that are difficult emotionally, and being rewarded for doing so.

So if we move forward to move forward, finally, to Pisces rising, we're going to place this new moon in the fifth, I said this in my monthly horoscopes, but you know, the potential for there to be the topic of pregnancy or children or childbirth or getting pregnant or trying to conceive or something like that could be a particularly you know, like a very dramatic topic for Pisces risings. But also the fifth house has to do with pleasure, joy, recreation, creativity, the arts, romance, the feeling of happiness that you get when you're doing something you really love. So I like this for Pisces rising as a time where you could have a lot of a lot of joyful time with family, or doing things that you love creatively. Perhaps, you know, like, I've seen people take cooking classes when there's a strong cancer transiting the fifth, I mean, anything that you could do, that has something to do with domestic life, as well as joy and happiness. But anything regarding the topics of children, pregnancy, creativity, would be pronounced this month. Now, remember that, in all of these topics that I'm mentioning, just running through them quickly, the key thing is to remember that those topics are being powered by this kind of catharsis of opposition to Pluto. So the sun goes through that opposition from like the 12th or 13th, up to the say, 23rd or 24th, you've got about, you know, a 1011 day stretch there, where the things could be quite dynamic, these topics that I'm mentioning could be the focus but in a way that's that's more transformational and require, there's a level of depth and intensity around these topics this month. And again, that's that's just due to the fact that this lunar cycle is engaging Pluto so intensely for the first, you know, two weeks up till the full moon.
