Hey, everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology. Happy Friday, everybody. Today, we are going to talk about Pluto at the last degree of the sign of Capricorn for the next couple of months, and a few of the connections that Pluto is going to make to the other outer planets, Uranus and Neptune, and why this is such a big deal. These three planets, Uranus Pluto, Uranus Neptune, and Pluto, are all connected very closely by degree, in harmonious aspects. And this is something that we absolutely should take a look at. We should be talking about it. And I want all of us to take a look at this today.
So, I decided on one of my favorite astrological cookbooks for archetypal combinations. Comes from a book called The Archetypal Universe by Renn Butler, who is a colleague and just a really nice guy, and I really appreciate the way that he wrote this book. It is very accessible and helpful for astrologers to learn archetypes. Also, I often will turn to this, read through some of his descriptions, and use it as a launch pad for some of my own creative processes as a content writer. And so I've just got my book falling apart. I've used it so much. I love this book, and so I want to tell you some of the things that he has to say about Uranus-Pluto, Uranus-Neptune, and Pluto-Neptune.
When we put all of those things together, you'll understand why this is such a significant moment. This is why we should not be sleeping on what Pluto is about to do with these other outer planets. So that's our goal for today.
Before we get into it, don't forget to like and subscribe. Share your comments and reflections if you have them; if you have a story to share, ever use the hashtag. Grabbed. Name the transit in the comment section with the hashtag #grabbed, tell us your story, and then you can email it to us. grabbed@nightlightastrology.com and we may use it for future storytelling episodes. I will also be reading some of those in our horoscopes of the month with Alexandra and Whitney.
So yeah, if you have a good story to share through any of the transits that we talk about on this channel, feel free to use that hashtag. We are trying to get to 70,000 subscribers by the end of this month. We're over 68, so it may take us a little bit longer. Maybe we'll get there by the end of October. We'll see, but we're going to see what we can do this month. We have doubled our subscriber total so far on average monthly.
So, it's been a really nice response to our call for support. Thank you, everybody. I want to remind you that you can find transcripts of any of my daily talks on the website, nightlight astrology.com, and here on the website, I want to name a couple of events that are coming up.
If you go to the Courses page, click on the masterclass series. Today, we start our masterclass, a four-part series that is recorded if you cannot attend live. The webinars are held at 2pm Eastern time on Fridays. And this is a master class called The Magician's Apprentice, an archetypal exploration of the divinatory lifestyle. We are going to be looking at the archetypes of the astrologer and the different ways in which we show up as astrologers, as well as the different ways that you can see the signature of astrology itself in the birth chart.
This is going to help us identify astrology and astrological professional interests in birth charts. It's also going to help us understand all of the different kinds of astrologers that exist and what kind we might identify with personally. We're also going to be talking about how to cultivate the best habits and practices as a spiritual practitioner and as an astrologer. So that series starts today, and if you scroll up at the top, go to the Courses page.
Our first-year course will open for registration on Monday, and the sale will begin. So you'll have, like, a pre-registration sale for the first month where you can get an early bird rate; the need-based tuition will be available, of course, and then we will have our normal rates come back in October. So get about a month to save on the course. Enrollment. Of course, it is opening on Monday, and the course begins in November on the 16th, so more on that next week as well.
Okay, so let us turn our attention now to the real-time clock where we'll be looking at this combination of our planets. So, this is a really unique setup. Here, we have the sextile between Pluto and Neptune within one degree, see 28 and 29, and we have the Trine from Pluto to Uranus within two degrees, 27 and 29, and then we have Uranus, sextile Neptune within one degree. So this puts those three planets all within a three-degree range. One another, very powerful.
Now let's just track this out a little bit over time so we can see, and I'm actually going to take out everything from our view here, except for the outer planets, so that we can really get a feel for how these three are going to move. So, if we look, we see that these planets are staying within two degrees, or even one degree, of each other all throughout September and October. So you can see Uranus and Pluto are within three. Pluto and Neptune are within two, and Uranus and Neptune are within one.
So, that little three-degree range means that the planets are active and involved with each other. Uranus pulls about four degrees away from Pluto in November when Pluto is about to change back into Aquarius.
But nonetheless, we have, and then we'll see that kind of starting to break up later in November, around the 20th, when Pluto moves back into Aquarius, and then Uranus and Neptune are still within two degrees. But the point is that all of September, October, and into about the first half of November, these three outer planets are all configured to one another in degree-based aspects, all within three degrees.
That is what is called an engagement range. Now, they're not perfecting exact aspects, but they don't need to be activating each other and sort of mutually inflecting their archetypal signatures upon one another. So what I would like to do, given that this is the case, is read a few passages to you and riff off from them. I will add some of my own thoughts as we go from Renn Butler's archetypal universe. I think you will really appreciate this.
So, let me get to Uranus Pluto first. The Uranus-Pluto dynamic is very powerful, and here's what Renn Butler has to say about it. And then I'm going to say a few of my own things: the Titanic quest for human freedom and individuation, driving forces of evolution and revolution, the sense of participating in an epic death and rebirth struggle, erotic emancipation and awakening of natural and Dionysian energies, volcanic ecstasy, a tendency toward driving manic energies, fanatical idealism and obsession with change at any cost, urges for external revolution without adequate processing of one's inner, emotional material forces of Cataclysm and upheaval.
Now, here's the thing. Is that, like for example, during the 1960s, Pluto and Uranus were conjoined in the sign of Virgo, a sign, by the way, that often refers to the innocence of youth. The virgin doesn't have to be a female image. It can just be an archetypal image of the young person about to enter the initiation of the underworld that comes in Libra when we enter through the gateway of the autumnal equinox into the solar underworld of the year from the symbolic orientation, of course, of the Northern Hemisphere.
Now that Uranus Pluto conjunction in the 60s was, therefore, this very powerful initiation for the collective that, in many ways, was driven by young people, right the hippies, the CounterCultural Movement, rock and roll, and so many cultural innovations and breakthroughs that were being driven, at least on that sort of cultural, historical, artistic sense of things, by young people.
So that's that Virgo signature. The point is that it was a conjunction so very powerful seating moment of upheaval, revolution, change, and emancipation. And those are Uranian words, of course, a volcanic release of emancipatory energy.
So the two planets are dancing really close to one another right now again, Uranus and Pluto in earth signs, which means that the two planets have the power to bring about a kind of upheaval and transformation, a revolution and catharsis, but they have the power to do so somewhat harmoniously because they're in a trine with one another, which means they have a kind of smooth, flowing connection, conjunction, squares, oppositions tend to be much more intense.
Think about Pluto Uranus in Capricorn in Aries, which we had at the beginning of the last decade. And that was a time, for example, that square coincided with things like Occupy Wall Street, the Arab Spring, I believe it was called.
So, anyhow, their combination is often associated with tremendous forces of the uncommon. Conscious erupting in a simultaneous kind of emancipatory and revolutionary way. Okay, so those energies are at work this fall in a harmonious manner, which is really cool and in earth signs. What comes to my mind is something involving very practical things; I always feel like with earth signs, the things that we end up referencing with earth signs are things you can touch.
They're material, practical, worldly, and impressionable like Earth can be changed and molded. And so I think about earthy things having the power to go through significant reformations or that there's a kind of pliability and an ability to shift and create powerful changes. However, the same tendency toward the awakening of natural Dionysian energies, volcanic ecstasy, right, and the driving forces of evolution and revolution. Those forces are still stressful, even if the Trine makes them a little bit easier.
So, you know, Pluto's last couple of months have been very dynamic. It's a very dynamic period we're entering into at the same time that we're moving through eclipse season for a good portion of it, right? So don't sleep on the fact that Uranus and Pluto are very closely aligned right now.
In other words, he says liberation by facing and passing through the archetype purgatory, activation of the inner Kundalini, or primary energies of the base of the spine, which are portrayed in the ancient medical symbol of the Caduceus, sequences of cosmic energy moving through the body the healing effect of cathartic shaking and tremors, profuse sweating, hyper salivating, vomiting and explosive discharges of aggression as people relive their births, experiential rites of passage, he goes on, and he says that this is also a quest for deep transcendence.
If you wish to live, you must first attend your own funeral. Out of the wreck, I rise the reclamation of wildness, the call of the wild, free nature, driving feelings of purpose and direction, a sense of human history being drawn toward a predetermined evolutionary goal. So you can do it. We're taking the sort of these Titanic forces of Uranus and Pluto, the revolutionary impulse and the impulse of catharsis and purgation and volcanic eruptions or discharges of pent-up energy, and we're combining them harmoniously.
So there are, but things are going to happen, in other words, that create opportunities for these kinds of changes that may be just a little smoother or a little bit easier to incorporate or integrate into our experience, but nonetheless, those two planets closely configured for the next couple of months. A couple of months. You don't sleep on that, right? That's the main thing, all right.
Now, let's shift to Pluto and Neptune. We're gonna go to Pluto and Neptune next. And here we go. So I like what Ren has to say about this one: the questing human soul, the inexorable drive to reawaken divine consciousness, the ongoing interplay of spirit and nature, integration of the sacred and profane elements of the psyche, Serenity within change, strange obsessions or compulsions, feelings of confusion and loss of reference, a dissolved sense of purpose and willpower, the ebb and flow of all realities as a universe eternally swallows itself, an experience of no permanent peace, powerful religious and spiritual yearnings, urges towards spiritual regeneration, the questing human soul, the destruction of illusions.
So here, what we're talking about, Pluto Neptune, is the kind of purgatory, transformational, cathartic, and spiritual or mystical experience. We're talking about dreams that deeply touch and transform. We're talking about altered states or healing experiences that have the power to purge, release us from illusions, and shift our consciousness in significant ways.
Remember, Pluto and Neptune are very closely configured by a sextile. So, the idea is that these two forces can work together somewhat harmoniously right now. Does that mean everything we have to process, or will every state that comes up be easy? No, but the shift that it wants to create within us should be relatively easy to see and incorporate work through address. That's the benefit of a sextile, and we now say relatively easy looks different for everyone, right? But the impulse is to find a wider spiritual context for the humanities. Darkest behavior, efforts to understand the interplay between our higher and lower natures.
See, Pluto represents everything that is subterranean, and we might say dark, but there's also always at work within Pluto's transits, a need for us to, or like a desire for us from the Divine, to see that the darkness plays a role, a vital role, a creative role, a regenerative role, a fertile it has a fertile place in life, and it is more than just evil or bad or dark in some negative sense. It has another role to play. And the connection with Neptune, especially in Pisces, is a sign that empathizes and has room to bring everything in the connection between these two planets.
In other words, it allows us to make room for darkness or to have a deeper understanding of it or a deeper sense of its place or role in something so that spiritual connection with subterranean, unconscious material and the universal totality of all things is a really great feature of this sextile.
Now, these are big themes. When you get to the outer planets, we're talking about things that, in some ways, are more easily seen in collective narratives and big historical arcs, and sometimes it's harder to identify things in our own personal lives. But watch for these, this collection of planets getting together, in a sense, to bring things to the surface, from Pluto's perspective, that allow for us to accommodate, make room for, and have a broader, more compassionate understanding of things, while also providing opportunities for revolution and significant disruption of the status quo, or norms that we need to move on from. So I love this. He also says alternations of oceanic Apollonian and volcanic Dionysian forms of ecstasy.
So oceanic Apollonian would be like that beautiful kind of at-oneness feeling that you get when you're meditating, and there's just a sense of clarity like the sun shining across the ocean.
On the other hand, the volcanic Dionysian experience would be like, you know, trance Dancing in the Dark to like, really deep, earthy base beats that are bringing like, kind of like primal energies up to the surface and allowing them to express like, that's like a beautiful image.
So when you put the two together, wow, the capacity for things that are sort of dark and deep and weighty and primal, to meet with things that are clear and radiant and transparent and sort of serene come together, and that's why it's there's such an amazing ability, over the next couple of months, to accommodate elements of darkness, elements that are often unconscious and somewhat taboo, or that feel like this dark thing can't work with this light thing. No, it can.
The two have this space of being able to understand and work cooperatively together right now and then, when you add that into the Uranian themes of individuation revolution, wow. What a mix we have, right? And that's what I'm saying. Don't sleep on this, the outer planets, especially if you have planets at the late degrees of Cardinal, mutable, or fixed signs, right now, right? If you've got from, say, 2627 Taurus or Pisces or, uh, Capricorn in particular, this will be very. You'll very much feel these energies.
But if you have planets from, say, 26 through the end of the signs of any of the fixed, mutable, or cardinal signs, you're going to be getting squares or oppositions from some of these. And that will also have a major impact on you. All right, so when I put these together, he has these planetary triads, and we're going to look at those. Here's the last, the last entry in the book, because it's the last three outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, an empowered vision of human emancipation, successful integration of the sacred and profane elements in the psyche, descent into the psychological underworlds, followed by blessed rebirth into absolute consciousness.
Human history is leading inexorably to an Omega point of collective awakening, obsessive levels of rebellion or hedonism, a diffusion of evolutionary potentials and misguided political pursuits, submersion in extreme fantasies or delusions, and premature exposure to unconscious content without proper training or support.
So he's talking about, of course, the light and dark sides. When you put those three planets together, you have very powerful forces at work. Here, one of the things that I think he's pointing toward is to be careful that these energies coming together doesn't lead toward a kind of diffusion of your energies into too many things that are sort of selfish, hedonistic, nihilistic, not that you have to be a hedonist or a nihilist to also fall victim to these energies.
Let's be clear about that because, you know, we all have little seasons where we drop into acting as if nothing matters, acting like our choices don't have consequences, or acting as if we can just follow any of our impulses willy-nilly. These energies without a container, I think, could be sort of seductive and lead us into an expending of energy in a lot of different wild directions, rather impulsively.
On the other hand, the idea here is that these three planets getting together all harmoniously, all harmonious with one another, can also lead to this kind of a sense of matching the energies of mystical, compassionate, emotional, and imaginative sensitivity in Neptune with the revolutionary and emancipatory and individualizing elements of Uranus with the deep, primal forces of Pluto, the subterranean and unconscious dimension that erupts with great force like put those things all together harmoniously in the next couple months, and you have a really beautiful pocket of time within which we can do some really good work, like spiritually, I see these outer planets collective, collectively, as opening a kind of portal for spiritual growth.
When things happen over the next couple of months, and they will with these energies at play, it's as though there is more room to accommodate, grow, learn, and feel like it is. This is a moment of cosmic conspiring toward my growth, for my growth. And like, I feel like all moments are like that, but in some moments, you feel it, and you know it a little bit more because the transits are just a little bit more obvious about it.
I feel like when the outer planets get together like this; there is this sense of, like, really deep, heavy, slow-moving plates, archetypal plates moving around, that represent life philosophies, that represent paradigms that are intersecting and coalescing in a moment to be like, see, see. So anyway, I think these are great.
One other thing I wanted to mention is when you put Uranus and Neptune together. I want to touch on that really quickly. Here it is; Uranus and Neptune also have a really interesting experience, revolutionary changes in consciousness and exciting rebirth of vision and idealism, feelings of cosmic unity and compassion, transcendence in every direction, the open universe also tendencies toward escapism and fantasy, hyperstimulation by imagery, wishful thinking and lack of discernment, religious and spiritual extremism.
Now I'm not as worried about some of these shadows of extremism and sort of like the crazy, destructive side of any of these because they're all in flowing, easy connections with one another, and I think they just act a little less extreme when they're configured in that way.
But notice that what he's saying about Uranus Neptune, which is so valuable for us, is that Uranus Neptune contacts often coincide with great breakthroughs in imagination, spirituality, romance, and creativity. It's as though there is a window in which we can rapidly grow and advance through the connection with Neptune.
So, the growing, the advancing, the liberating, and the individualizing of Uranus is happening through contact with this sort of oceanic, mystical, romantic, imaginative energy. It is beautiful, just beautiful.
So, to me, the little dance the outer planets are doing for the next two months is something that I realized myself. I wasn't looking at it closely enough. I started thinking about it. I was like, My God, when do we get the three planets all configured so closely and harmoniously, you know, and just this tiny little time crunch that comes during eclipse season, that comes right in the midst of our lunar cycles that we are playing out the Eclipse energies.
So I feel like it's interesting, and I hope that you got something good out of hearing about this and have some things to work with going forward. I also feel like, you know, I'm not a mundane astrologer who tracks historical and collective developments on my channel so much, but this should make for a pretty interesting global picture unfolding in the next couple of months, and I will be an archetypal observer. Life in the heavens. I am interested in seeing how that plays out.
So anyway, on that note, I hope you're having a good day. One last thing that I forgot to promote is my next upcoming webinar. I want to just take you over the website really briefly for that. Let's see if I can get this right. Yeah.
So, I forgot to mention that my next webinar is coming out this month on Venus. So we are going to be looking at the 12 Love Languages of Venus, which is a way of talking about the story that Venus tells in our lives, in our charts, by sign position. So this is going to be an exploration of Venus through the 12 signs and the kinds of themes and stories that Venus tells about our love life, intimacy, sex, and even, you know, marriage through the sign placement in our birth charts.
So that is September 19. You can register on the Live Events page, and you will get the link to attend live. If you cannot attend live, you get the recording. So, I hope you're all doing well. Remember, registration for year one opens next week; I'll be promoting that as well. Can't wait to see a new group of students diving deep into ancient astrology with me. That's going to be really fun. Hope you have a great weekend, and we'll see you again soon. Bye
