Hey everyone, this is Acyuta-bhava from Nightlight Astrology. Happy Monday, everybody. Today we're going to start the week by looking at Venus's upcoming trine to Jupiter. Venus is in the sign of Leo and making a trine to Jupiter in Aries. This is a very powerful and benefic aspect, probably one of the most powerful and positive transits of the month. And so that is what we're going to look at today. Before we do that, don't forget to like and subscribe, share your comments, and click the notification bell for updates; when you leave a comment, and you like, it helps the channel to grow. If you're not subscribed already, please do and get some notifications when you click on that notification bell.
Now I am super excited to also announce today that I have two new classes that are now open for registration. My wife Ashley and I will be leading a class called Roots and Spheres. And it is a 2023 moon circle that begins on January 19, 2023. And we're doing a pre-registration sale starting today that will last all the way up until September 12. So if you go to my website, nightlightastrology.com, We put that up there so you can see go to nightlight astrology.com. Go to the Courses tab and scroll down, and you'll see Roots and Spheres. If you click on it, you will see the course page, and everything that you need to know about the course is listed there.
There are 12 New Moon gatherings and 12 Full Moon gatherings over the course of 2023. And during those 12 months and lunar cycles, we're going to be studying the astrology of the month. And we're also going to be dieting 12 different plants for each lunar cycle of the month. And that those plants have been intentionally paired with the astrological energies of the month. Now the planet diets are optional; you could come along just for some of the transformational work that we're going to do that's just focused on the astrology of the month. But if you also want to diet some plants, we picked, you know, most easily accessible, and you know, safe plants that anyone can include like some of them will be tinctures, some of them will be infusions, things like that. Really gentle but good teaching herbs. So this is the goal for the year is to kind of pare the astrological energies of the year along with some plant teachers. This is something my wife and I; my wife has her master's degree in clinical herbal medicine. And so it's been something we've wanted to do for a long time. The pandemic sort of slowed down our plans. We originally were going to be doing this a few years ago. But now it's a reality.
So we're going to be meeting on the new and full moons guiding a plant teacher each cycle, looking at the astrology in depth, will have some guided transformational exercises for every lunar cycle, and a chat group forum where you can discuss how the month is going. And we'll be doing, you know, this is much more of an experiential way to get into the astrology of the year ahead, which for many people who are looking for personal healing and growth, maybe is more appropriate than you know, say taking a class if you're not interested in studying astrology, but you still want to have a deeper experience. So I think that this will be good for a lot of people. You can find the schedule is listed there everything you need to know about the program, there's an FAQ section, and then we do have an early bird payment that's going on until September 12, which you can use to save a couple of hundred dollars off the course. There's a payment plan if you need it. Then we also do have tuition assistance for anybody who is, you know, if you're you have some kind of financial constraints right now. It's tough out there for a lot of people; we get it, so please take advantage of that.
The other course that I'm really excited to announce is called the nightlight masterclass series. Now, this is something I'm going to be doing every year, and it's going to change every year. So you can go to the Courses page on nightlightastrology.com. Go to the masterclass series, and what you're going to find is that for each season of the year, I am now leading four masterclass series; there are four classes each, so there are 16 classes total and for different topics. For example, the first topic of the year is going to be the mysteries of the moon cycle. And this will be a four-part series where we really break down the nuances of the moon cycle with a focus on all of its major phases and advanced techniques for reading the relationship between the Sun and the moon's Faisal pairing in a birth chart. This is something that a lot of my students ask for it. Now, these classes are going to be better for people who already have a background in astrology, specifically Hellenistic astrology, ideally, people who are enrolled in one of my programs already, but anyone who has a background in ancient or traditional astrology would be fine to check these out.
Doing one called Zen and the Art of zodiacal releasing. This is going to be a series; although I already covered this in my year two course, it's a series that's meant to just take the study of zodiacal releasing even deeper because even in my year to the program, after four classes, most people still have a ton of questions. So I'm trying to cover topics that Um, you know, there's almost like, you could say you could, you could take three, four or five more classes out of my program to cover but are no time to. We're also going to be looking at unlocking temperament and personality and the birth chart that I missed one. Oh, yeah, we're going to be looking at the morningstar evening star cycles of Venus and Mercury and how to interpret their fasial differences. All of these are, the dates are all listed for you, you can take one of them, you can do like one off if you want to. But you'll save the most if you sign up for all four; there's a monthly payment plan, if you need it, you can buy just one if you want to do just one of them. Or you could; I guess you could, you could go back to the page and purchase again if you want to do just to have them or something like that. And there is tuition assistance, again, for those who are in need of that. So really excited to welcome people into that new course, don't forget that the sale of this pre-registration sale lasts until September 12.
So you have from now until September 12. Roots and Spheres begins January 19, 2023. And the masterclass series begins on February 17, 2023. If for some reason, you're not able to join with the pre-registration sale that we're having for the next four weeks, I will probably, although I'm not 100%. But I will probably rerun a discounted version of those classes through my Kickstarter because I do that for all of my classes in my Kickstarter every year. So but I hope to see some of you in those upcoming programs, especially roots and spheres.
Ashley is going to be coming in this week. And we're going to be talking about herbs to pair with the very long transit of Mars in Gemini. And so those of you who have not met her, so to speak, on my YouTube channel and gotten to know her work, you'll get to do that this week, as well. And we'll talk a little bit more about the program. So you can ask questions if you have them after hearing us talk a little bit more about it.
All right, well, all of that being said, really excited to get into Venus' trine to Jupiter this week. Let's put up the real-time clock and take a look at it. Okay, so first things first, here at the beginning of the week, we can see Venus in the sign of Leo. And we've got Jupiter in Aries. Now, as the week goes on, we're already by tomorrow, Tuesday, we are within that engagement range. In fact, later today, we will be that's within three degrees, then it actually moves through the perfection between Wednesday and Thursday, the 17th and the 18th of August. So this transit has a timeline that lasts roughly from the beginning of this week, August 15. And you could already feel it building all the way through; let's give it an extra three degrees. And we'll say all the way through August 20. You know, something like that. So a good long transit, a powerful one. It's very it's, you know, a benefic transit because it involves both benefics. If you know ancient astrology Jupiter's in the superior position. So when Jupiter is asserting itself over Venus, you might feel like this transit feels like Venus with a huge strong dose of Jupiter. Venus and Leo with like, you know, Jupiter in Aries, you know, sort of banging the drum alongside. So, we're gonna look at five themes that you might notice this week, along with three lessons; been a kind of fun format to use lately. So we'll stick with it. So here are five themes I think you'll be able to notice this week.
One is strength is beautiful. Now, this may, you know, for some people, it could easily rub you the wrong way. When you hear the phrase strength is beautiful. It's like, well, you know, you don't, there's a lot of things that are beautiful, and you don't have to be strong to be beautiful, whatever strong might mean physically strong or whatever. But this is a transit with Jupiter, muscular Jupiter in Aries; right Mars' sign a fire sign, very masculine yang sign connecting with Venus and Leo, again, the Sun sign a fire sign. These places by triplicity are the daytime and nighttime, belonging to Sun and Jupiter. So very fiery and bold and big. And so there's a way in which when Venus gets into the trine with Jupiter, and you know, the bloody war sign of the ram, that strength becomes attractive.
Now strength, strength of character, strength of integrity, strength of conviction, muscular strength, strength as in ability, something that makes you stand out and look stronger, or sort of more masterful than the rest but usually within an aura of like, almost like a muscular aura. By that. I mean, like, you know, when you see, see that person running outside or whatever, and you're like, Gosh, look, they just look like a gazelle. You know, and this is all you know, it's like this. This is the week where athleisure where you go to the store, and you end up purchasing a bunch of, you know, stretchy pants that You wear to the gym occasionally, but you wear to the grocery store more often; athleisure wear. So strength is beautiful.
Fitness, strength, even machismo; not that machismo is particularly attractive, you know, but, but this is a week where you could see a little bit more of that, like, you know, kind of big, bold, muscular muscle cars, like a beautiful classic muscle car is very Venus in Leo, trine Jupiter in Aries. Hope that's making sense. Now, I'm not saying that you necessarily have to celebrate these things or be attracted to these things yourself. I'm just saying you may notice this around you are sort of in the air this week. Strength and beauty. The other thing that could go along with this would be pride and beauty, things that are like, bold and beautiful. You know, what I think of when I think of strength is beautiful. Also, which is going to come down, I guess I could bring this in on my third theme for today as well. Maybe I will.
The strength is beautiful thing reminds me of Oh, God, now I'm gonna forget. It was a Marvel movie. No, it was Wakanda. Have you guys seen Black Panther? So we're in Wakanda. There's like there's, it's like Marvel heroes. So they all look like like ripped. Right? They're all you know; Marvel movies are everyone looks like, you know, inhumanly strong or whatever. But there's a sense of like pride and dignity and in beauty. It's not. It's not an arrogant pride. It's dignified; you know what I mean? So another thing that you could think about, and I think of that also because that's such a to me, that's such a lionic movie. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if; didn't the star of that movie die. I forget what his name was. But I think he died of cancer or something. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to see some strong Leo placements. And some of the main stars of that, if anyone wants to look it up and see if there's Leo energy and some of the stars of that movie.
The other thing that comes to my mind is that anything that you take pride in could be family; it could be an accomplishment. It could be, I don't know like right now, this is so silly. But like I got, I think I told you guys over the summer; I got a Jeep. And my wife let me get one because I was able to find a hybrid jeep. So it's like, you know, better on the environment. She was like not having it. You know, if it was gonna be like a gas-guzzling terrible thing, and I really wasn't either. But she was. I was a little bit more tempted. And she was a little bit like, No, you know, like, be ethical. And I was like, what is the Jeep? So anyway, but I take this pride in my jeep; that's kind of silly. You know, it's just, I just love it. I just take pride. And if you ever get it, you can see my guitar in the background. I think you can see it. Can you see it? There you can see it. You know, when you change the strings, and you kind of polish it once, and it's like things that you love, and you care for. And they make you feel strong because you care for them. And because you love them. There's just a kind of strength in bold, beautiful feeling. So the things that you take pride in making you feel strong. It's very Venus and Leo, trine Jupiter in Aries. Another thing that I think you could look at would be because Leo tends to be like, pack oriented like the pride, the missing. Yeah, pride. Isn't that what they call a group of lions? Like a pride of like a pack of lions? It's called pride, isn't it? So if you think of it, it's also about not just personal pride or egoic pride, but the people that you take pride in or with.
For example, you know, if I think when I was living in New York City, I lived in Brooklyn, and I believe there was a day, and I could, I'm gonna, I might mess this up. So my apologies to anybody who's from Brooklyn and knows what I'm talking about. And I mess it up. But I believe it was like a Puerto Rican Pride Day. It was a big parade that like went through Brooklyn, at least where I was living in Brooklyn, and from the art and the color and there was just such a healthy pride and like, we're, we're Puerto Rican. This is who we are. And I'm pretty sure it was Puerto Rican. If I'm messing that up. And it's it was another country. There are probably several different days like that anyway because I feel like New York City is like that, like every New York City is like every place in the world in one place. It's the most I just loved it. If it weren't for having a family. I feel like it's really hard to raise a family in New York City. That's just my own take. I feel like it'd be very overwhelming props to people who do it. I know lots of people grew up there but like to me, it was. It was such a beautiful city. I don't think I could raise a family there. But I often think about going back just because you could walk from one place to another and be in a totally different universe. People speaking different languages and different cuisine, like a different cultures. Amazing. But there's wherever you go when you feel that sense of this culture makes me strong and proud and beautiful that my pride is in the group I belong to; in the pride, we take in it, something like that. So that would be all of this would be. You could see it in the air this week.
Now that could verge on, like, territorial too, like. You could see a heightened sense of, you know, like getting territorial about who's in your group or who's not. This is what I take pride in; this is what I'm identified with as, as a group and, you know, and if you're not a part of that, like my, you know, it's hard to see Leo, like Leo is usually not a sign that's like at you know, actively being aggressive toward people that kind of cares too much about being like to do that a lot of the time, but I could see there being like, pride boundaries that are being drawn if that makes sense.
So, okay, number two, arrogance posing as strength. So when you think about this is just maybe this one of the shadow sides, for sure. And it kind of goes along with number one of strength is beautiful. Then number two would be, you know, watch for things that are like, Oh, look how great and mighty and strong and wonderful I am. And, you know, a lot of the time, there's an overcompensation that goes on with the Venus Jupiter connection like this and fire signs Jupiter in Aries. It's like, let me posture or pose like I'm great or strong, or, you know, mighty or beautiful or whatever. But, it's actually, you know, a kind of showiness that is masking underlying insecurities, or underlying inferiority complex, or something like that. So there can be like, a way in which the, you know, strength, true strength, you know, is, is beautiful, it's poised, it's regal, but it's not like it's not so demonstrative that it's domineering or boastful or something like that. So you might notice there's a fine line between that this week strong and beautiful, bold, proud, beautiful, in a good way versus kind of like the arrogance posturing is strong and proud and beautiful. And, you know, sometimes it's a fine line, even as myself as a Venus in Leo native, I find that you know, it's like, on my good days, it's number one on my, on my bad days, it can be number two, just it probably depends on how much sleep I've had, and if I've drank enough water.
All right, well, number three, trophies and tokens. Now. I think that it's really interesting to look at etymologies. You guys know I love to do this. So we're going to look at the etymology of the word trophy, and for token, I think you guys will appreciate it. Trophy, "an overwhelming victory," "a spoil or prize of war," "a sign of victory, a monument," originally tropaeum, from Greek tropaion; "monument of an enemy's defeat."
So, you know, it's weird because, like, when I was a kid, you know, I think I was on the brink of like, participation trophy era, or culture, whatever we want to call it, where it's like, everybody gets a trophy. But I was sort of on the edge of that. There was a little bit of that, but not as much as I think there probably is now or ended up being or something. Well, you don't necessarily think of like, Oh, look at these, you know, like, a trophy case, or something displaying all of your victories, which inherently means every single one of them means I defeated someone. I mean, for the most part, that's what trophies point to, right is I did better than everyone else, or I did better than most everyone else. Maybe you got a second-place trophy or something. So their marks of greatness. But it's also interesting that a mark of greatness in a trophy, which is like beautiful, glowing golden, something to take pride in, is a mark of strength. But it also has within it the sense of someone or something that I defeated. And it's sort of the subtle, quiet part about trophies, whether they're psychic trophies or mental or emotional trophies or, you know, trophies literally somewhere in your house. So, I think a lot about this week as a week to look at, you know, trophies, and now I'm not someone who thinks trophies and defeating other people is, as long as there's, you know, a sense of sportsmanship, I suppose. And that, you know, so forth isn't necessarily a bad thing, right? I mean, it's like, as long as there's not a sense of I crushed my enemies. Like, I'm better than everyone else, or whatever. Like, truly, there are things in life like I will tell you right now. There are trophies also that don't necessarily have to do with, like, having been better than anyone else. They're just personal trophies of things we've accomplished, and maybe we had to endure something. For example, I have, I don't think I have it here. No, it's in my other room. But I have a picture of a Blue Morpho butterfly and a little piece of Ayahuasca vine. And that's like a little trophy for me in terms of things that I survived, like Ayahuasca ceremonies. And it's a; it is a mark or a token as well, you could say. But it is a kind of trophy, a mark of accomplishment. You could be receiving one this week, mentally, emotionally, or even physically. Or you could be noticing that there are certain trophies you have, and maybe they're not so healthy to keep around all the time, maybe we don't always need a reminder of something we did or something that we've accomplished, or someone we beat or, you know, we're better than. So it's an interesting week to think about emblems or markers of greatness and what's implied within them.
Also, token, so let's look at the word token, which is also a very interesting word with an interesting etymology. A token would be a sign, symbol, or evidence. And I think it's interesting that in the Old Norse, there's actually the sense of a token being an omen or a reference to the zodiac. Let's see. If you go all the way back to some of the German etymological connections, you get the idea of a token is something that shows or pronounces solemnly. Now let's look at the word solemn. I thought you guys might appreciate this, performed with due religious ceremony or reverence, sacred or devoted to religious observances also of a vow, made under religious binding?
Yeah, so if you think about the idea of tokens, they come in as something, an emblem of something that we're saying or speaking, and probably with Venus and Jupiter, a token this week would be about something that we find to be beautiful, valuable, strong, that gives us pride, that is a sign or mark or, a trophy of some kind. But a token has the sense of, like, if you've ever gone to a shop and you see something, and you go, that's, that is a symbol that I want on my shelf, right? I was actually looking up the there are interesting etymological connections to the word totem from the Ojibwe people. I think it's Ojibwe. If I'm messing that up and people know better than me, let me know. But I think that word comes from the Ojibwe people. And the word totem has similar meanings. It's a mark of family or kin or something like that. But it has the association of something that you take a healthy reverence to your pride. So I think I think that's really interesting. And there's something very, very beautiful about this sense of emblems or markers or tokens that may come into your life and mark out something that you find beautiful, and it might be something like a little bit big. Like you want to know what's coming to my mind is? This is ridiculous. Have you guys ever seen that movie? That Christmas Story? I think it's called Christmas Story. It's the one about the little boy who has to wash his mouth out with soap, and he wants the Red Ryder BB gun; so bad, and his dad gets this huge lamp that's like a woman's leg with like, like, pantyhose on something. It's like, it's like that kind of thing to like, there's this big dramatic fashion statement or something like the peacock tail, right? So maybe it's a token also of, of a grandiose token or item or something like that.
All right, well, number four is the Queen. The Queen is, I think, Venus in Leo. But trying to Jupiter in Aries, the Queen's power. I think of powerful women. I think of women who are executives or CEOs; I think of, you know, sexual empowerment. And there was something I saw; I don't even know. I thought it was like social media; who knows where I saw it? And it said something; it was someone who had, like a celebrity who had gotten a tattoo or written something like I forgive myself for. I don't remember what it said. But it was basically in reference to enjoying their own sexuality, or there's something; like enjoying sexuality versus feeling ashamed of it or something like that. So there's a pride in the air, but it also could have something to do with being strong and bold around sexuality regardless of, you know, gender orientation, just bold strength and pride around our sexual nature. Also, it's a pretty good One week for there to be, like, just sexy, passionate energy in the air. The Queen though the powerful regal principles, strong woman who's starting her own business or something like that, you get a feeling of that energy in the air this week too.
Also, you know, let's be real here, the Queen in this combination, the shadow side would be sort of like the, you know, the? How can I put it? The ruthless woman, you know, like that archetype, whether it's fair or not fair, right? But that archetype that she's ruthless, she's nasty. Isn't that a word that is very, like, people say that you know, are they? Is that a fair word to use? Do you know what I mean? Like it's, it's just a double standard because it sucks for women, you know, like people think it sucks, women should be strong or something, you know, and, and so I think those kinds of tensions and themes will be maybe in the air a bit this week.
Number five is just powerful allies and good fortune. A trine is of the nature of Jupiter. Jupiter is making the trine. Jupiter is in a superior position, Jupiter took its joy in the 11th house, the place of allies Jupiter, and trines were all associated with benefactors or allies or useful resources that come in to promote, help, build support, etc. And then Venus was the goddess of good fortune, which means pleasant, enjoyable things. So allies help benefactors with supportive energies and good fortune. It's a little fiery little maybe there are some egos in the air; there's some will and pride or whatever. But you know, generally this week on the most, in the most positive sense is just hey, look, there's some good ally like there's some good help from Jupiter and there's some good fortune from Venus. So let's enjoy it.
Okay, well, three lessons. These are just reflections on these energies that I hope might be relevant. Number one is that real beauty is also psychic beauty. I want to read you a passage from James Hillman. This comes from his book A Blue Fire, which I've been rereading a bit recently. This is called Psychic Beauty. And he's drawing a distinction in this little excerpt which is very short, between the beauty of Aphrodite, Venus, and psyche, which psyche the word means soul.
While the erotic can be a form of mania, as Plato said, it also beautifies. Moreover, beauty is the first attribute which draws Eros to psyche.
To love is to bring forth upon the beautiful.
We have had to neglect beauty in our work because on the Oedipal model, it was regressive; seductively sexual, the attraction of Jocasta.
On the heroic model, beauty too often represented the merely aesthetic approach, producing an embellishment rather than a meaning. (Embellishment was another word I almost thought of using along with trophies and tokens, by the way.)
On the heroic model, beauty too often represented the merely aesthetic approach producing an embellishment rather than a meaning; a puer were avoidance of the battles of purposeful achievement and a neglect of the ugly bitterness of the shadow. Perhaps now we may realize the development of the feminine of anima into psyche and of the souls; awakening is a process in beauty. This implies that the criteria of aesthetics unity, line, rhythm, tension, and elegance may be transposed to the psyche, giving us a new set of qualities for appreciating what is going on in a psychological process. The beauty of soul, which alone surpasses the allure of Aphrodite, will show in the aesthetic imagination of the psyche and the attractive power of its images. It will show in the ways in which the psyche gives form to its contents-For instance, the manner in which the anima contains the erotic. But mainly, the beauty of psyche refers to a sense of the beautiful in connection with psychological events, by being touched, moved, and opened by the experience of the soul. One discovers that what goes on in the soul is not only interesting and meaningful, necessary and acceptable, but that it is attractive, lovable, and beautiful.
The ultimate beauty of psyche is that which is that which even Aphrodite does not have and which must come from Persephone, who is Queen over the dead souls and whose name means "bringer of destruction." The Box of Beauty which psyche must fetch as her last task refers to an underworld beauty that can never be seen with the senses. It is the beauty of the knowledge of death and of the effects of death upon all other beauty that does not contain this knowledge. Psyche must "die" herself in order to experience the reality of this beauty, a death different from her suicidal attempts. This would be the ultimate task of soul-making and its beauty: the incorporation of destruction into the flesh and skin embalmed in life, the visible transfigured by the invisibility of Hades kingdom, anointing the psyche by the killing experience of its personal mortality, the Playtonic upward movement toward asceticism is tempered by the beauty of Persephone. Destruction, Death, and Hades are not left out. Moreover, Aphrodite does not always have access to this kind of beauty. She can acquire it only through psyche that would be the soul, for the soul mediates the beauty of the invisible inner world to the world of outer forms.
What are you saying, is that nothing in this world of beauty is beautiful is truly beautiful unless it is also soulful. And I think that's what I'm getting at when I'm thinking of Wakanda was like; why is that movie so popular? You know, and I think it's because there was something that was both beautiful and soulful about that imaginal world of Wakanda that, that that world you enter into it. And I think that's exactly what Hillman is saying here. He's saying, real. There's blood and teeth and history and loss and pain and sorrow and the underworld. And all of that properly belongs to the soul. And aphroditic beauty is nothing unless it is somehow infused with psyche. And that is soul. So it's not surprising that there's a big drama that happens between Aphrodite's son Eros and psyche and that part of it is due to, you know, her attempt to foil Psyche out of, in some ways, jealousy. But what we're saying is that aphroditic beauty is superficial if it doesn't have soulfulness, and I think that's a really good lesson to remember right now this week when aphroditic beauty can get overblown by Jupiter; just remember to make it soulful.
Number two, real beauty draws out essence. So another way of saying this is that if something is really beautiful, it ought to be beautiful because it adorns and draws out something that is more intangible or invisible or subtle. For example, one of the things I've always loved about my wife, and you know, this is just, you know, just me in my subjective world and my relationship, right, but my wife is I think she has great taste in terms of how she dresses and the makeup she wears, and how she puts it on and jewelry and things like that. But I've always felt like the way she dresses, it is not what makes her right, that it simply draws out and makes more evident what is within. And I've always loved that about her. I'm sure that's partly just my tastes like she's a Taurus, I'm a Cancer, you know what I mean? But I've just I've always just thought like, what's beautiful to me, in general in the world, whether it's in men or women or anyone and the way that they dress is that the way they dress or the things they surround themselves with; the art or fashion or whatever, is something that sort of helps you feel what is beautiful and interesting and unique about that person. It draws that out, rather than the external thing, masking or covering it up or compensating for lack of, you know, kind of like not being in touch with your soul. So that's another way of putting it in the I-Ching says this, too; I think it's hexagram 22, which is sometimes called grace. And it basically says the function of adornment is to draw out what is within, and if it does that, then that's when the adornment can really be appreciated because it's actually the inner thing that's making the adornment on the outside. Beautiful. That's beautiful. There's say the same thing in bhakti where we say that Krishna and Krishna makes his earrings beautiful, you know, it's, it's not that the flute or the earrings make Krishna beautiful. It's that Krishna makes those things so beautiful and attractive. And that's exactly the same kind of teaching. So, you know, anyway,
Number three, nobility is pride. Nobility is healthy pride. Call it nobility; it is most visible. This is just my opinion, and what I've observed, and I guess my own values, but I think it's most visible, and people who are generous, they have a generous spirit. They're light-hearted, good-natured, and generous with that energy, or their resources, maybe even. And they may be great at something, or they may get there may be something that's really amazing about them. But they carry that greatness with humility, meaning they don't act like they're anyone better than anybody else. Isn't that what really is attractive about someone who's great? They make you feel like they're, you know, just another person. And that's not an act either. They really are just humble. I don't think I think the word humbled gets a bad rap, especially in narcissistic, you know, New Age culture where it's like, you know, everything is constantly about Loving yourself. And, um, don't get me wrong, I think self-love, you know, to me begins with not what you say or think about yourself or what you do for yourself in terms of taking care of your spirit, your soul, your body; people are doing those things. I'm all about self-love.
But I think it's, it's, you know, in this day and age like, I would love I wish at some point that we had just as much enthusiasm about humility and how challenging it can be to cultivate humility. In order to cultivate humility, we have to keep in mind at every given moment, hey, I don't necessarily deserve to be where I am; I don't necessarily; it could have been in times when we make a mistake or could have been worse. You know, it's just, it's a way of, you know, staying close, I use the phrase staying close to our own hypocrisy, staying close to our own fallibility, not with a sense of looking down upon ourselves or disliking ourselves, but of not really of just, you know, it's like, there's no place more comfortable to be than just being a beautiful grain of sand on the beaches of eternity, you know, just comfortable with what I am, you know.
So anyway, I think humility is it's tricky to talk about how to cultivate humility, you know what I mean, without it sounding like an ought or a should or a command or an as soon as that energy comes in around humility, then it's, it gets into power dynamics. And as soon as power dynamics are at play, people always revert back to, you know, be awesome, be better than everyone else, or pump yourself up or something like that.
It's a tricky transit this week when it comes to, like, pride, beauty strength; they're all there. So I think it has to be mentioned that something about humility has to be mentioned. Not that I, you know, not that I know so much about it. But nobility, again, is most visible to me in people who are generous and whatever greatness they have of a character or something they're good at. They just they're like a common person. And that's what is so special about them. That's what makes me admire people like that so deeply, so intensely, because they carry it without getting stuck on themselves. There's something really beautiful and attractive about that.
Okay, well, that's what I've got for today. I hope you guys find this useful. I would love to see you guys in my upcoming classes. So beautiful and soulful! Old Norse reference is helpful as the word for ‘token’ in Swedish is ‘tecken’ which encompasses far more, meaning ‘sign’ as in ‘portent’ or ‘prophecy’ in addition to ‘symbol’ and ‘signal’. These deeper more ancient meanings of ‘token’ seem to have been lost in modern English usage.
