As the Jupiter/Uranus opposition closes in, here are a few more things to consider:
* I’ve heard more than a few people comment that they feel like they are on the brink of a significant change in their lives, but that they feel, for the moment, stuck in a holding pattern. If this is something you’re experiencing, then you may find this helpful. Although Jupiter and Uranus opposed to one another signify things like growth, expansion, breadth of vision, opportunity, revolution, inventiveness, and so forth, the opposition is of the nature of Saturn, and Saturn is also trine to Uranus and sextile to Jupiter, which means that there is an element of conservatism in the mix of this revolutionary moment. Saturn can draw things out, slow or weigh things down, or add a general dimension of seriousness and gravity to the situation.
* The opposition itself is also of the nature of Saturn, as we see Saturn ruling the signs opposite the lights in the Thema Mundi (a Hellenistic teaching chart). This means that this revolution isn’t coming with Saturnine resistance to change, without struggle or conflicting or opposing points of view.
* With Jupiter in Libra, it’s also important to recognize that the scales of justice are involved in this unique moment. The revolutionary events in front of us are an expression of karmic balancing. Karmic balancing does not mean that the kinds of changes or resistance to change we’re experiencing right now are fair or just in terms of our own understanding of fairness. We have to remember that the laws of cause and effect operating in the material realm can be cold and hostile. The general image to keep in our minds right now is not only of a leveling out or balancing out but also of the never-ending tipping of the scales back and forth, from one extreme to another.
* Some of the best lessons we learn, lessons that provide the impetus for all kinds of exciting and dynamic changes in our lives occur because something disrupts, blindsides, interrupts, disturbs, shocks, or suddenly awakens us….we sometimes call these events, “rude awakenings.” A rude awakening can provide the impetus to turn or return to spiritual life because we see some very basic reality about the material world or the bottom-line of a situation we’ve gotten ourselves into. These awakening events can be experienced as limiting or blocking, but where we recognize a limit there is the start of liberation.
Prayer: Show us the limits so we might start to be liberated.
