Hi, everyone, this is Acyuta-bhava from Nightlight Astrology. And today I am doing part two of a series that I started yesterday on how to identify obvious things in birth charts. By obvious I mean, things that are very present or obvious in a person's lifetime, for example, I've dealt with a really serious health problem, or I have a high profile job in a certain kind of industry. Where do I see that in my birth chart, it's a really obvious fact about my life, but I can't see it in my birth chart. Or maybe you're an astrologer who is consulting with people, and you have the problem of just not being able to identify something that you you hear the client mention about themselves, and you go, gosh, I feel like I should have been able to see that in their chart somewhere. So part of the reason for doing this series is because it's a slow week, astrologically, there's not a lot of big stuff happening little more toward the end of the week, that will be going into Venus into Virgo sun into Leo, full moon coming up, that's at the end of the week. So I thought it would be a good time to do some chart demos. I like to do these because I know that some people don't have the time or the resources to take a full on astrology programme somewhere. And so I'd like to try to provide some, you know, do it yourself content for people who are trying to learn at home.

One of the questions that I get from clients, there's a certain type of client that I have. And I would call them the click a crossover client. It's a client who wants to reading, but they're also maybe in one of my classes, or maybe studying astrology, in some programmes out there probably Hellenistic or traditional astrology, maybe mixed with a little modern archetypal, or psychological astrology. And they want to know where something in their chart shows up. Like I don't see this part of my life, that seems like it's a big deal. But I just I'm not able to see where exactly that is represented in my birth chart. So I get this kind of question a lot when, again, when people are coming in for a reading. I don't get this question from people who know nothing about astrology, because of course, they don't know enough to necessarily ask that question. But there are a lot of clients that I have who are deepening their studies of astrology by getting a reading with an astrologer, it's a great thing to do, I highly recommend it to all of my students, whether it's me or whoever else, I have had many readings from many different astrologers over the year to get a feel for what they how they read, and how they see my chart. Every astrologer reads a little bit differently. So when you go to an astrologer in that kind of setting, a really valuable thing to ask is, Hey, I'm not sure I think I understand where I'm seeing this part of my career, but could you show me where you see it? Or you could ask an astrologer? Hey, look, I've never been able to quite identify why I have such issues with my mom or something like that I'm making this up, of course, or where do I see? You know, where do I see that I tend to have, like a kind of an obsessive part of my personality? Or do you see that somewhere? I think I have an idea about it. But it's good to have an objective eye on it. So this is a great thing that you can ask an astrologer, if you have a reading with an astrologer, and you are also a student. So you know, you don't have to go into a reading and just listen to whatever the astrologer has to say. I mean, in fact, that's really, in my opinion, that's not the best way to go about having a reading, it's really better to ask the astrologer some questions, to have questions prepared. And if you're student of astrology, it's totally fine to ask essentially some tutoring as they interpret where do you see this in my chart, I want to learn more about my chart, as I'm having you read it. I have people ask that all the time. So at any rate, this is a chart from a client with permission, who had a few questions about her life. She's a student of Hellenistic astrology, not in one of my programmes, but studying actively on her own, reading books, watching different channels, came in for reading and said, hey, look, I want to know where I see the following details about my life. Okay, so I'm going to go through three of them that I think are pretty, pretty relevant. There was actually more than that, but we're gonna go through three of them. And I'm going to just walk you through how you can see these things and why you might not see them. If you're looking at this chart, and you're newer to interpretation. There's some good reasons why we don't see things sometimes.

So at any rate, the first question that she had was, where do you see my finances basically sucking, basically, my finances have been terrible. Up until later in life, closer to midlife. I met someone fell in love. And my wealth was greatly enhanced because he's really successful. So where do you see money taking such a dramatic turn? In my chart? I've been looking and looking and I can't figure it out. Good question. Good question. So first of all we have some we have many different pathways into such a question. Let's start by taking a look at the second house in this chart. This is going to be the place of money and finances, it's empty. So that means that we're going to look at the ruler, who in this case, because whole sign Gemini and the second house, we're going to look at mercury. So Mercury is the ruler. Now, there's a number of different ways that you can go from here, you could assess Mercury's condition, you could assess its house placement, aspects that are being made, its essential dignity, etc. And you could, by looking at those different factors, you could get a sense of what's the bottom line here. So one of the things that she mentioned was that she'd been living, never really been able to afford her own place, always living with roommates, and always feeling really constrained with finances, she used the word constrained. As soon as I hear certain words that people use, I start putting pieces together constrained, for example, is a Saturnine word, you notice that the ruler of her financial house has Mercury, who is in Capricorn, which is Saturn sign. And then Saturn points us down to the fourth house where Saturn is retrograde and debilitated, in the sign of Leo, in the place of living environment. So this person, from the time that she went to college, it's a very kind of ninth house thing, by the way, the house of higher education, ninth house. After that time, she went to college and onward, throughout her adult life, she'd always had to live with roommates, and so on, and so forth. Now she was a teacher did not make a lot of money teaching. This is also interesting, because you can see that the ruler of the second house of money or finances, in that house of education, translated into her teaching, not making a lot of money, and always having to have roommates because you couldn't afford your own place to live. So granted, she lives in a city, a big city, so that can be more expensive. She teaches in a city, living in a city can be more expensive. So at any rate, you're seeing the condition of how she makes her money, the ruler of the second in the ninth, and also that the money put her into more constrained limited circumstances, and especially seem to you seem to mention the condition of her living environments. So you could see that represented right there just by following the ruler of the second seeing where its host, Saturn is in this case, seeing the connection between the second and the ninth, you can start to see the story. So but when she said I had difficult finances, and then later they turned around because I met someone, I didn't start by going and looking for how that turned around, though I might have even been able to see it right away. Instead, what I what I did was I said, Tell me a little bit more about how you have made your money, what kind of circumstances you've been in around money, what are the patterns? Then she told me the story: Well, I'm a school teacher, school teachers don't make much and I've had these living living conditions, okay. But when she said that, then I can start gives me a little context, I can start seeing connections, I can start seeing Mercury ruling, the second in the ninth, I can start seeing mercury and Saturn sign connecting me down to the fourth. So I start to see the circumstances. Now what I want to know is, is there any hint here that Mercury's situation could improve. And a lot of the times the way that we're going to see an improvement in condition is if Mercury is about to change signs when a person is born, which could mean that the dignity changes, picks up perhaps, or if we're going to see, let's say an application, an aspect that's forming between Mercury and another planet suggesting that Mercury improves because of its connection with a planet that's in good shape, something like that. So in this case, one of the things that we can see right away that's really interesting is that Mercury is a more in the morning star position, you can if you know a little bit about how to identify phases, which I won't go into right now because he Mercury's in the morning star position.
9:25
And if we go back just a little bit, if we something that I will do often in readings is I will just check to see if mercury made a station direct or retrograde or just came out from under the beams of the Sun within about seven to 10 days of birth. This is something that Hellenistic astrologers did. So if I go back within say, I don't know like six or seven days, but I can see is that Yeah, now Long before this individuals birth, Mercury was stationing to turn direct, and kind of moving into its direct phase after its retrograde. So what does? What does that tell me? So what that tells me is that we have a Mercury that has just changed directions from retrograde, to direct. That can mean that things are going to improve, but gradually and over time because you have a slow moving Mercury, but it's a strong Morning Star Mercury, which means it's in sect in a daytime chart. That's a pretty powerful Mercury, but it's very slow moving. As it gets going, what is it going to do? Well, we're going to see it pick up speed, and it's moving toward a conjunction with Mars, who is exalted, and Mars is also moving in its own application to the midheaven. So you can just kind of look at this symbolically, and see, look at what's going to happen with mercury, Mercury is going to catch right up to Mars is going to change signs into Aquarius, but it's essentially moving into an application with Mars. And what is Mars' base condition in this chart. Mars is in it's an exalted Mars. That's right, going, going right on to the midheaven. So for me, I look at that, and I go, yeah, this is what is happening to her money. If we look at this sort of symbolically, I mean, you have to have kind of an imaginative eye, right? You're looking at a Mercury that's getting stronger, having just turned direct and becoming more powerful, but still slow moving. It's moving toward a Mars who is exalted and at the midheaven. And why would that Mars be so important? Because Mars rules the marriage house, Mars would therefore represent the marital partner. So you're showing a marriage partner that looks like the one she's describing a very potent, high earning, you know, type of partner. So you have a exalted Mars in Capricorn at the midheaven. And this person happened to be what do you call it? Oh, like a superintendent level in the school system. So someone way high up, but also in the ninth house of higher education. Isn't that interesting? At any rate, the fact that Mercury is joining with that Mars, and you could even symbolically look and say, hey, look, they're gonna join Mars right as they cross into the 10th house in Aquarius to or something like that. But the idea is that her money and her career or profession related to the earning of money visa v. Mercury, is picking up a lot of strength because it's moving toward an exalted Mars who represents the marriage partner.
12:55
So in ancient astrology, you learn to train your eye to look for those kinds of things, among lots of other things. And you could make a case, I think there's several cases to be made in this chart as to why money could pick up over time. But at any rate, another one of them, for example, which is even I think, just a little bit more straightforward, honestly, is you look at she has an exalted moon in her first house. And the exalted Moon is moving into a trine with Mars, the Lord or ruler of the seventh house of marriage, the exalted Moon in the first house, connecting through a positive, harmonious benefic trine with an exalted Mars, the midheaven also is a pretty good picture of a spouse entering her life that will bring a lot of benefit. So you could look at that way. The other thing that she mentioned, is I said, Well, you've survived, you've made it this far up until meeting this person, you know, it couldn't have been the worst fortune in the world. And one thing she said that caught my eye was she said, Well, I've always seemed to meet really good people who've who have helped me along, especially at critical moments where I wasn't sure if I was going to make it or not. And she said, do you see that anywhere? And I said, Well, I mean, here's this just a really simple explanation, right? Yeah, we do. Because look at what we're seeing here, we're seeing a Venus Jupiter, mutual reception with Venus exalted in the 11th house of friends and allies. So you have the ruler of the 11th house of friends and allies Jupiter in the first house and right on the ascendant. And then you have an exalted Venus in a sextile with that Jupiter, who is the ruler of the ascendant. So this person had this very magnetic, charming personality, and had a lot of really good friends and people just took to her and seem to support her. So that was number two. Yeah, we can see that people have lifted you up and helped you along. Whether you want to count that as a marriage partner, or just good friends and allies, you've got that in spades with that mutual reception between Jupiter and Venus mutual reception means that Venus is in Jupiter sign of Pisces, and Jupiter is in Venus, the sign of Taurus, and the two are even connected through a pretty close degree based sextile. So, a sextile is of the nature of Venus in harmonious.

So finally, she said, I wonder if you could also see the difficulties that I had with my father growing up. She said, he was absent in my life, I was raised largely by a single mother, I'm just kind of estranged from my dad. And she said, You know, I have a theory about that. She said, Could it be that I was born with the Sun in its detriment and Aquarius? And I said, Yeah, that's interesting. But in here's my response, I you know, the Sun can represent father to the problem with that is that that would mean that, you know, there should be like a high percentage of people born with the Sun in Aquarius, who are like, estranged from their father, because you have the Sun in Saturn's sign. So it's in a textile. And that's really not true in my experience. So it you know, I wouldn't look at that alone. A Sun in difficult condition could say something about son things, including the father, maybe being challenged by the archetypal tension inherent between the Sun and Saturn. So that could mean a lot of different things. And maybe one of them is like troubles with that somehow. But what we're really looking at is the sun moving into an opposition with Saturn. So the Sun and Saturn are now in each other signs, but in mutual exile, so they're in their their mutual reception, but also each in detriment. And so I said, it was just curious, because I said, Would you say that there's anything that your father has, like, given to you, like anything that even despite the estrangement, or whatever, the bitterness that he gave to you, she's like, Well, you know, throughout my my life, like one of the only ways that he stayed connected is occasionally he gives me money and helps me out with rent. I thought that that was really interesting, because it goes back to that Saturn in the fourth house of home and family, or of living environment. But at any rate, it certainly speaks to the Sun, opposition to Saturn certainly speaks to the the estrangement, oftentimes, any kind of opposition can mean that there's a split or like a schism between two things or two areas of life, all the more so when a malefic, like Mars, or Saturn is involved. And there's the cutting or hard polarisation as a part of the dynamic, but at any rate, the sun ruler of the fourth house and natural symp signifier of the Father opposing Saturn in the fourth house of the Father, so that's where you get some of that.
17:55
What I found really interesting was, in this reading, one of the things that she mentioned was, she said, in my current marriage with this person who is, you know, just a wonderful provider, wonderful earner, but always working and I find that a little bit difficult, because that's how my father was. Do you see any connection between my spouse and my father? So yeah, because when you look at the exalted Mars in Capricorn and Saturn sign first of all exalted Mars in Capricorn, Saturn's sign ruling, the marriage house can be a sign of someone who's very like type A, or just really driven hard working, you know, almost sometimes like militant it doesn't have to be it could just be someone who's just you know, really motivated, hardworking, serious, responsible. But we also have to look at its host, where is Saturn, Mars' ruler. Well, there it is opposing the sun. So one of the things that she said was, it feels like, you know, his, he's working so much all the time. And he earned so much that my own you know, kind of something of my own path or my own promise or potential is a little overshadowed by him. And I always felt that way with my dad. And that's really interesting because you're seeing how the Sun Saturn dynamic, it representing something about father is also present through the ruler of the marriage house Mars, looping back to that Saturn sun dynamic. So anyway, I hope that you guys have found this interesting today. Thank you to my client for letting me share this chart. I hope you find it really useful.
19:42
One of the things again that I can't recommend enough, although just a little lesson for today is if you are a student of astrology, get readings from different astrologers over the years to see how different astrologers read. If you're still not sure about what style or school of astrology is for you, although I invite And we'll tell you that Hellenistic, you know is the best because that's the one that that I do. But get readings from different styles if you're trying on different styles and feel, feel out which style works for you, as well as what type of delivery works for you. That's a good thing to be in the habit of. In the meantime, I also recommend asking questions to the astrologer that you visit. Again, if you're a student about the chart from a technical standpoint, one thing I remember is I had a reading with Demetra George some years ago, and I mentioned this very specific pattern in my life. And I said, I'm wondering if you can tell me where you see that. And she was able to point that pattern out in my chart in a way that had never dawned on me to look at it that way before. So there are sometimes several ways to see something about yourself or someone else in a birth charts is not always just one way, but hearing different astrologers address how they see it, and listening to the techniques that they use. And the way the way that they're seeing the craft that they're using is just a such a good way to learn. One of the programmes that I'm starting this fall is called readings and passages. If people have had any, if they have to have taken my year one programme or have some background in Hellenistic astrology already, but that course is just 24 live readings followed by craft breakdowns of the readings as well as key teaching passages from ancient astrology manuscripts. A great way to learn is to just watch someone like that's a big part of how I teach is to look okay, here's all the techniques, here's the theory, the history, the philosophy of Hellenistic astrology, or kind of traditional astrology in general, then let's see how we apply that in a live client reading where we also may draw on certain aspects of modern psychological astrology, kind of, you know, coffee shop counselling style. So at any rate, I find that approach really useful. And so I hope that you guys remember to ask that of your astrologer next time you meet with with them. All right, well, that's it for today. I hope you guys are doing well and more to come later this week with some of the big transits of the week. The full moon is the biggest one but Venus and sun changing signs as well. Alright, take it easy, everyone. Bye.
