Hi everyone, this is Acyuta-bhava from Nightlight Astrology and today we are going to talk about the ingress of Mars into the sign of Leo. And I also have a horary demonstration chart for you guys to see. And a few tips from a birth chart reading that I did recently, just some delineation techniques that you might use at home. So yeah, a couple of cool things in store for today. I also dropped the bonus episode today, I started a series around the beginning of the new year on becoming a professional astrologer. And I've been meaning to update it but got things got a little delayed because of moving so I finally was able to continue with that series, I interviewed one of the recent graduates from my programme who just launched her own full time practice. She's a great example of someone who has been through the process of studying and then gradually forming her own practice. So check that video out if you're interested.

So first of all, I'm going to pop up onto the screen, the real time clock so that we can talk about Mars is entrance into the sign of Leo. This is welcome news for us because Mars has been in cancer for quite a long time. And cancer is the sign of Mars this fall. So you can see here's Mars having just entered the sign of Leo this morning, this is June 11 2021. And exiting Cancer, the sign of its fall the dignity picks up it doesn't have any essential dignity in Leo in terms of being in its domicile or exaltation. But it's better than Cancer where the symbolism tends to be a lot more challenging. Now, people hear that and they immediately think that it's a reflection upon them like oh, it's my chart is better or worse five, this or that placement, that's not what we're saying. We're talking about almost like the relative level of ease or stress or tension between archetypes that are present when a planet is in another planet sign. When you mix Mars moon stuff, there tends to be a little bit more tension, for example, than when you mix Mars sun stuff, which is the case when Mars is in the sign of Leo. So that's what we're going to talk about today. What does it mean that Mars is in Leo, how long does this transit last? What are some of the highlights? So let me walk you through that right now. So some of the major highlights of this transit include, for the most part, the big one is the opposition to Saturn that's going to come Saturn in Aquarius. So let's just walk through this transit together.
4:37
The major event will be right around the beginning of July so the very end of June beginning of July. What do we see we see Mars opposing Saturn and Mars Saturn opposition's will often show up in terms of kind of like this feeling of a pressure cooker. Mars is the unstoppable force and Saturn is the immovable object and when they come into an opposition with one another, there's often a clashing of will, you know, here's a principal Saturn and here's my will Mars, I'm gonna do what I want, and Saturn says no, you're not because of this rule or this boundary or this principle. Other times, it's going to be the theme of concentrated effort or focus that comes to mind. Other times it's going to be trying to move past the limitation. Sometimes you're also going to have Mars in Leo, saying them, you know, the measure of all things is my will in my way. And, you know, kind of a more egocentric position for Mars and Leo, Saturn in Aquarius will say, Yeah, but you're not paying attention to this particular theme or person or principle that is being somehow marginalised, or left out somehow. So Saturn in Aquarius, for example, can be like the scene and like a coming of age movie where the hot shot, popular kid for once is shown up and in a sense, the the student body Saturn in Aquarius says, it doesn't matter how popular good looking you are, you know, you can't act like this, you can't behave that way. Mars, and Leo will say, No, I can do whatever I want. Because, you know, I'm the king, my will, in my way, and Saturn in Aquarius, as well. You know, the the group has other ideas. So the interaction between the individual and the group, the intolerance of the group, compared to the heroism and courage of the individual, for example, someone who's being bullied to us to stand up for themselves and find find courage in the face of social ostracization, or social pressures or pressures to conform. No matter what kind of group or crowd we identify with, whether it's socially or culturally, or politically or religiously or academically or, you know, even in sports, there's a way in which there will be pressure to conform. And, and some of that's good, because we find unity outside of ourselves and something bigger than ourselves. And other times that pressure to conform will strip us of something because, you know, at the end of the day, even if we identify with different kinds of groups in life, there's always something of an individual that can never be fully captured or satisfied by a group. So this tension between the will of the individual and limitations constraints need to, to compromise or potentially conform to something outside of ourselves coming into pretty intense conversation at the very beginning of July.
7:39
Now, beyond that, what I really like for this transit of Mars, and Leo is the conjunction between Venus and Mars. Now that Venus Mars conjunction is coming a little bit later in July, you're gonna see Venus conjoin, Mars around July 13. And at that point, I feel like, you know, the Venus Mars conjunction, and Leo, there's a lot of star power behind it, it's where the courage to be yourself, and the attractiveness of something that you're doing. So for example, if people were going to launch a new album, like, this is my solo album. And I feel like this Venus, Mars conjunction, and Leo is very good for showing, showcasing your talents or showing people what's really special about you, and probably being met with reception. And so if there are limitations, if you're facing personal limitations, or if you're feeling rejected, I feel like this is a counterpoint to that the harshness of the Mars opposition to Saturn, also Venus's opposition to Saturn, which will happen in July. So Venus and Mars coming together in Leo, look to me, like a celebration of individuality, having the courage to be ourselves and bring out our own. I like to think of the the Leo energy as you know, it's like, it's like there's a, there's a little sun inside of each of us. And we have to find ways of bringing it out into the world. So I like this as if you've, if you're working through that, that that individuating process between now and about mid July, I like there being a pretty nice resolution. This is also great in terms of a very romantic transit, it can be like the king and queen falling in love. Anyway, lots more to say about that in July, just kind of going off the top of my head for now.
9:40
Mars is going to continue to progress and finally leaves the sign of Leo around July 29. So July 29, into July 30. Mars will then transition into Virgo. So you're looking at effectively, you know, a month and a half worth of Mars and Leo now And again because the dignity has changed significantly the the experience of Mars, you should notice it very tangibly in the days and weeks ahead. Okay, so I wanted to share with you a few other things about Mars in Leo that I think you'll find interesting. As always, I like to use cosmos and psyche to refresh on some of the basic themes of the planets. So listen to Mars, it's an easy way to understand the meaning of the planets is to look at the sign that a planet is travelling in and realise this planet with these energetic archetypal principles is now a houseguest in the temple of this other God who has these energetic and archetypal principles. "Mars is the principle of energetic force the impulse and capacity to assert to act and move energetically and forcefully to have an impact to press forward and against defend in offend, to act with sharpness and ardour, the tendency to experience aggressiveness, anger, conflict, harm, violence, forceful physical energy to be combative, competitive, courageous, vigorous, Ares is the god of war". So this is again one of my favourite books, Cosmos and Psyche.
11:15
Now listen to what Tarnas has to say about the sun. So now if you know if Mars is coming to your house for dinner, and you know Mars has personality, Mars is going to need those things. The sun can only feed it what is natural to the sun, it's like, well, you're at my house for dinner, I've only got sun stuff to feed you. So what does it get? "Sun the central principle of vital creative energy, the will to exist, the impulse and capacity to be to manifest to be active, to be central to radiate to shine, to rise above, achieve, illuminate and integrate the individual will and personal identity, the seat of mind and spirit, the Animus, executive functions of self or ego, capacity for initiative and person purposeful assertion, the drive for individual autonomy and independence, directed and focus consciousness and self awareness, the centrifugal expression of the self, the trajectory of self manifestation, ascent and descent, the ruler of the day sky of the clearly visible, the single source of luminosity that overcomes the encompassing darkness, the monocentric Yang, the part that contains the whole and potential soul and all solar deities and the archetypal hero and its many forms."
12:30
All right. Wow, right. Let's check out my favourite Archetypal Universe by Renn Butler. So, let's see here, the sun, the sun, Mars pairing is what we're gonna look at. And just a few things that he says that I really liked. And I'm going to pick cherry pick from here, "impulses towards dynamic action and assertion, yang boldness and courage, physical confidence and strength, centrifugal force, a fierce hot headed persona, a rough and insensitive nature, contentious and competitive spirit of noxious directness and extroverted machismo." So, Renn Butler, archetypal universe, great archetypal cookbook.
13:13
Here's the thing, you have the king that will ride into battle. Mars in Leo, you have the potential for the bully, Mars in Leo, I'm the greatest, I'm better than you, I'm going to dominate you. You have assertiveness, willpower, agency autonomy, but also the need to dominate. And that can be complicated with Mars in Leo. Mars in Leo can be the need to muster your courage and strength in order to face things that you're unsure if you are able to face as an individual. And so the potential to rise above limitations. This is what I was trying to articulate with Mars, in its opposition to Saturn, this feeling of needing to rise above what other people say you are or are not, or how the way other people may want to define you, judge you, label you, Mars and Leo has this, this will to be special and to refuse to be defined in the way that anyone else defines you. But at the same time, it can be that sort of reckless bluster that's overly confident, that's arrogant, and you know, that doesn't consider the needs or will of others. So this Mars energy is going to be with us between now and the end of July. And it's good to just introduce ourselves to Mars and Leo right away and see if you can recognise it because when Mars in Leo changes signs, of course, the ingress into the new whole sign in your chart will be felt pretty instantly, you're gonna start to feel the presence of Mars in that new whole sign house, that new area of life activating the topics of that house as well. So be sure to check the whole sign House of Leo in your birth chart right now to see where Mars might be affecting you.
14:58
Alright, so As promised, I want to, I want to show you a birth chart and then a horary chart. Now, in this horary chart, or no, I'm going to show you the birth chart first. In this birth chart,
15:18
here we go. There's a few principles, a few delineation principles that can stand that may stand out to you right away. Here are some of the things that I noted when I saw the chart right away just scanning a chart, sometimes the first things that you see will honestly, you know, be the things that people want to talk about. So I have a lot of different techniques that I teach in my courses. But here's one that you can always notice. Look at where the major focus is in the chart, either by sign house, also by aspect. Anything that's really standing out Well, I can't help but notice that in this chart, the native the individual who let me use her chart with permission has three planets plus the north node of the moon, both luminaries, and the ascendant ruler all in Taurus in the 10th house. This is going to be a very career focused person, some kind of torian career, but probably given that all of these planets are houseguests in Venus's sign. Venus in the ninth house conjoined with Mercury, Venus retrograde will have something to say about the career. So the first thing that I did was to say you're really career centred person. But it probably has something to do with ninth house matters, because you can't just mean as much it's torian kind of career. It's a moon, Mars, sun type of career. But the dispositor or the host and its position in the chart will always give you a secondary layer of information that really should be incorporated. So what does a 10th house torian career look like with an underlying host Venus in the ninth house conjunct mercury? So I suggested that this person maybe did earthy things or things related to you know, Venus moon things, those are Tauruses main planets. Taurus is the exaltation of the moon and the domicile of Venus. So earthy Venus moon types of things, or that they did ninth house kinds of things. And, in fact, this person, when they came to speak with me, went on to explain that they are in the legal field. So makes a lot of sense because Venus, the underlying goddess that hosts all those planets in Taurus is in the ninth house, which is the place of higher education and is the house that is that pertains to the the law, the courts, the legal system. And so oftentimes, you know, when you have a bunch of planets in the 10th, you will Oh, there's career focus here, but what type of career? Well, Taurus, you know, you could go moon Mars sun type of career, but with an underlying Venus in the ninth emphasis. So this person is and you know, obviously, the the legal field is a contentious place, you have Venus in Aries and Mars ruled sign, you have Mars in Taurus. So their mutual reception between Venus and Mars, you work with clients, you try to make them happy if they have good customer client rapport, but you're also in a contentious area where people are fighting with the law. They're suing one another, and so forth. And so legal, legal fights, legal counsel, legal advice, and the Venus, the Venus mercury in the ninth house, this person's in the legal system or the justice system. So I thought that was really interesting, just a very simple expression of the astrology what else stands out in this chart? Well, how about the moon opposite Saturn, that's one of the tightest aspects in this charts within three degrees degree based aspect. Moon Saturn opposition's can be particularly challenging, also has a Mars Saturn opposition and the moon Mars conjunction. So that's a tough aspect. Honestly, that's, that's a difficult one. And one of the things that this individual spoke to was whether or not they would have the time or energy to become a mother in addition to their career focus. And this was a big point of concern. This was you know, occupied a good amount of the reading was talking about, you know, I just don't know if I should be a mom, I really want to be but I'm not sure. I'm not sure. You know, if I'm gonna be if I'm getting too old, if I waited too long, I'm not sure you know, if it would compromise my career, etc, etc. So, sometimes, you know, I mean, among many other things, a moon Saturn opposition from the 10th to the fourth will express itself in terms of real concerns about whether or not one can or should be apparent or remain focused on their career. Moon opposite Saturn will also mean someone who has trouble getting pregnant sometimes or someone who may not be you know, that there's, there's hardness or harshness or severity somehow around the mother archetype, which could mean Their own mother not necessarily having kids, but like some of their backstory with their own mom. So you never know. But that was at the top of my list. And sure enough shows up in the reading. So it doesn't take a lot to do a good reading, sometimes you just have to be, you know, carefully observing what stands out here, and then know a few techniques to fill out your predictions or descriptions of what you're seeing in the chart. The other thing that I thought was really funny, and it comes up from now, you know, from time to time, is that signature of Did you meet a handsome stranger in a distant land?
20:31
I, you know, did you meet someone in another country? Whenever I see Venus in the ninth house, I go, Okay, there is because there's basically two ways that you can look for love and signatures around marriage and important relationships, you can look at the seventh house and its ruler planets in the seventh house, you could also look at Venus. And those are pretty much at the top of your list in terms of basic delineations around love and marriage. Here you have Venus, retrograde, and, you know, in the ninth house, you and you could go through the dignity of Venus and Aries and so forth. And they could do a really full bodied analysis of Venus, but let's just keep it simple. Venus is in the ninth house of foreign countries, one of the first things I said was, you know, I think it's possible that you would meet someone you know, in an academic, educational, religious setting or potentially abroad, or that your attraction to those topics would be very important in terms of the spouse that you chose. Well, I have a very philosophical partner who I met while studying abroad and we ended up getting married. So there's there it is Venus in the ninth house, in that village, very philosophical partner, how about Jupiter in Aquarius in the seventh house, oftentimes planets, whether it's Venus or whether it's the ruler of the seventh, or planets in the seventh also literally describe something about the partner. In this case, partner is very philosophical, but also Jupiter in an air sign. This person has an like, engineering background or a tech oversee overseeing big tech projects type of background. So Jupiter and Aquarius, that kind of technological oversight and broad minded technological understanding, as well as being really into philosophy really described her spouse very well. So I thought that this was fascinating. The other thing, not surprisingly, was that this individual had a rocky background with her own mom. So some of the karma between her and her mom and questions about whether or not to become a mom became central to our conversation. And we were able to use the moon Saturn archetypes in order to discuss that both within herself and in her past. And in terms of the questions that she had going forward right now. So I think this was just a lovely chart example. And I want to thank my client for letting me show you guys some basic techniques for reading hopefully, they're useful to finally, here is a horary that I have with permission. Now, if you don't know what a horary is, I teach a whole class in horror area astrology. It's a one year programme, it also starts this. Let's see this Sunday, or is it come getting my dates mixed up? Now? It's this it starts this weekend. One of my my I know my second year class starts tomorrow and my horary class starts Sunday just getting mixed up. So this individual asks the horary question, will I get into a postdoc postdoctoral research position that they were hoping to get course you have to apply for these. And here's how we see it in the chart. So in horary, the way that it works is someone asks a direct outcome oriented question that they want a direct response to, this is very predictive, it's divinity, it's not like, for example, in the previous chart, I do a little describing predicting, telling the native what I see in their life, but a lot of it is process oriented. We're talking about dynamics in the chart. And we're using the archetypes to unpack things together. And there can be almost like a counselling dynamic. You don't need to be a professional counsellor to do it. But, you know, you're you're helping people relate to the archetypes of their own life. And you're doing some predicting, describing forecasting, but you're also creating room and space for conversation. horary is a little bit different in that it's it's very much targeted, outcome oriented predictions. So will I get into a postdoctoral programme? Well, in this case, the individual is going to be represented typically by two planets, the ascendant ruler. In this case, that's the sun because Leo was rising, and the moon, the moon is always co significator of the querent. To the person asking the question, we take the question in and cast a chart for it like it's a birth chart. So I got this question on January 24 2021, at 5:50pm in Minneapolis, Minnesota, so that's when I cast the chart. We then read the chart as the birth chart of the question. Again, the native gets the sun and the moon. In this case, the sun because Leo was rising. So the ascendant ruler goes to the quieren and the moon as a co significator, or just an indicator of the flow of events. that's likely to occur relative to the question. This is an academic institution that she's applied for a kind of research position. So what I did was looking at the ruler of the ninth house as that position, that's Jupiter. Here, you can see Jupiter in Aquarius. So what do we see, we see the sun and Jupiter coming together in a conjunction in the sign of Aquarius, how far off,
