Hey everyone, this is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology and today we're going to take a look at Mars trining Uranus. Mars is in the sign of Capricorn, where it is exalted, and it's making a trine to Uranus in the sign of Taurus. This trine came through yesterday, late last night, and is still active today.
So, a really important transit for us to look at, and for those of you who are wondering, horoscopes will be tomorrow, possibly Thursday, but there'll be either the last day of the month or the first day of February. Just so you know, because some people were asking me about that, we started off the week with a look at all of the transits for the month ahead, and we're jumping around a little based on Alex's recording schedule.
So anyway, horoscopes will be coming shortly today; we're going to take a look at Mars is trine to Uranus, which is very much in the air, and hopefully, we're going to make a list of five things to watch for based on their archetypal combination.
So before we get into it, don't forget to like and subscribe to share your comments and reflections as always; I'd love to hear from you guys. You can find transcripts of any of my daily talks on the website nightlightastrology.com, Where right now, you can also find information about the three new courses that began this month, our year three program in counseling, astrology, our Roots and Spheres Moon circle, and we also have our Maste Class series on the fixed stars. Okay, on that note, let's take a look at the real-time clock, and here we go. So here is Mars in Capricorn. This is late January 29, Monday night, but if we move this forward to today, you're gonna see that the trine is very much still active, and there is the trine to Uranus in the sign of Taurus.
Mercury just went through the trine, and now Mars, so we are going to look at Mars and Uranus today as an archetype combination to remind you of what kinds of things are common for this combination. So there are five things that I have on my list to watch for, and you'll notice these in any kind of Mars-Uranus combination if the two planets are together in the sky in a square in an opposition and a conjunction and a trine or sextile although I find that the trine which is what is active in the sky today is usually the most constructive. Let's put it that way.
When they are combined by trine, you don't see as much of the difficulties and the kind of friction associated with Mars Uranus; you tend to see the constructive and harmonizing and truly more likable aspects.
I'm going to cover some of the things that you should watch for that are difficult today, even though it's a trine because you will still see those two planets when they get together, generating some difficult symbolism. It doesn't really matter what aspect they are in. Anyway, five things to watch for.
Number one is going to be breakthroughs due to determination, effort, and confidence. This is especially so because the two planets are in Earth signs right now, and Earth signs like to literally build things and make things, take things from an idea into form, and shape things through our will, through our effort to, our determination through a display of confidence or just a kind of can-do optimism.
Mars, when it trines Uranus, represents a breakthrough in our efforts. If you've been working towards something, building towards something, you know, pushing something up a hill, so to speak. Mars hits Uranus first of all; it's great to have Mars in Capricorn for that kind of effort and determination because Mars is exalted here, and Mars and Capricorn really do represent someone who, through effort, determination, patience, the long view, can make it up the mountain.
Then, you combine that with the Uranian energy and the impulse toward freedom, originality, and the association of Uranus with breakthroughs that provide creative breakthroughs or breakthroughs that provide greater freedom.
That's when you get this combination showing itself as, hey, if you work hard, you're gonna hit a moment where there is a significant breakthrough in what you've been working toward. It's kind of like a runner's high. You're running, you're running, you're running. It's a kind of effort. It's a slog, and then all of a sudden, the same exact pace, the same exact stride feels amazing, and most people who have ever done any kind of workout know that there gets to a certain point in the workout where you start feeling really good.
Yeah, so I would associate that with a kind of Mars Uranus signature. Mars-Uranus can be erratic, and of course, there's always the potential for that unexpected thing that Uranus brings with Mars to be erratic in a way that is more confrontational or difficult. But with the trine, you know, one of the main things you'll see will be, hey, what you've been working on, what you've been trying to shape or mold through effort and determination.
You keep pouring into that project or that work with effort and confidence, and you're going to reach a moment where you suddenly break through. So that is one of the great significations of Mars-Uranus.
Number two would be the surpassing of previously established limits or boundaries, as in a record-setting performance in sports, someone breaks the all-time single goals or points record in a game.
So when someone breaks a record, when someone goes like if you are in track, or if you're a swimmer, and you beat your own best time, you know that feeling where you go past what you've been able to do previously, in the gym, maybe it's that you are able to lift a little heavier on some exercise, or last a little bit longer on the treadmill. Something that you've never been able to do.
But now you can suddenly break through a previous limit or barrier; I could not do that, and now, through effort, patience, and determination, I have broken through some kind of barrier. It's also this transit associated broadly with record-setting or record-breaking athletic performances going faster than someone's ever gone before and also accomplishing or doing anything martial.
Uranus is very Promethium, and so Mars, and Uranus combinations, like Prometheus, kind of steal the fire from the gods. It's as though for a second, you know, you're feeling triumphant; there's a sense of surpassing and moving beyond your human mortal limits, you know. So it's pretty exciting in that respect the way that you can feel like suddenly you're flying, you know.
Number three, there is a defiant freedom-seeking impulse that is common with Mars and Uranus, and you have to be a little bit careful about this because this is what gets the surfer or the skateboarder or the extreme sports athlete of, you know, a broken something or another.
The combination of Mars and Uranus, as wonderful as the first two things that I mentioned, also has this tendency to seek out the surpassing of limits or boundaries to seek out freedom, emancipation, and revolution with a kind of bravado and machismo that can end up being reckless, or it can almost be like flaunting itself or in sort of disregarding boundaries or safety, or the concern or consideration for others.
So wild, erratic, willful Mars with Uranus, not totally concerned with consequence, not totally convinced that it can't fly and you know, even though it doesn't have wings, so you know, you just want to be a little bit careful of that.
But at the same time, know that if you see this energy around you, if you feel it within you, that that impulse is probably coming through because there's some way in which your life needs a greater expression of freedom, originality, creativity, you're looking for some kind of breakthrough, how can we respect that and channel that without being destructive or impulsive?
Because when we have that impulse, and we need it to be expressed, we don't know how to, and we just fly off the handle trying to express it. Sort of a failed attempt, in some ways, you might say, at integrating and accommodating the energy that is seeking its expression in our lives.
Number four would be erratic, willful, angry machismo. Now, I don't see this as much with the trine, but the square and the opposition for sure, even the conjunction to a certain extent. You have to be careful because this combination is road rage in a bottle, you know, it's like one of the as little energy shots that they sell at the gas stations; I've never had one in my life, by the way, I think it would probably die. But those little energy drinks, you slam them, they give you a ton of energy. But it's bad for the heart.
So erratic, willful, angry machismo, you want to be careful of like the Red Bull effect of this transit; I'll just put it that way: there is a meat-heavy Red Bull drink in this transit; don't get caught by it.
Number five spontaneous acts of creativity willpower muscle that serves to liberate or free up space. So anytime that Mars and Uranus get together, the other thing that happens is that stuck energy inside of us will find a way to get out, and that could be that you need to go have fun, you need to go dance, you need to go I don't know, go to go to a comedy show, even going out for dinner and just being like, doing whatever is the screw it in your life that you wouldn't usually do even if it doesn't seem like it's that willful or defiant like for most people going out to dinner, what I know for some of us is if you don't do that regularly, if you don't take a minute for yourself, or your you and your friends are you and your lover or whatever, then doing something for yourself that is seemingly simple, but it requires a like I'm done, I'm gonna go do something, you know, do something for myself.
That's very Mars-Uranus, spontaneous acts of creativity; I don't care anymore, I'm just going to stop everything I'm doing and go sing, go play my instrument or go dance, or go run or something, you may find that there is an urge or a need to spontaneously erupt in some kind of display of creative energy and it might also include things like willpower, action muscle, but it's coming through because it says I need space, I need to space to express myself because too many things are going according to too many rules, too many, too many procedures and protocols.
So, just a tendency to look at rules and boundaries and regulations as the enemy of creative flow or creative energy and to do something about it so that creative energy can return to a flow and there's a better balance between structure and fluidity in your life overall.
It might seem weird that Uranus and Mars are an Earth signs doing this. But one of the ways they can do that in earth signs is they can move things around so that life is more conducive to creativity and flow. Moving things around might mean that this action comes to serve in the practical structures and rearrangement of those structures so that you can access more creativity.
Sort of like saying, You know what? I'm sick of not having enough time. So, you know, me and my wife, we're gonna hire a nanny for some hours per week so that we can have some time out. You know what I mean? That's a very earthy expression of Mars and Uranus. It is not so sexy and flashy, you know, like fire signs where you just pop some mushrooms and go running through the woods or something. Be very fire sign-like, but yeah, the Earth will move things around if it needs to, and then you take the mushrooms later. I'm just kidding.
Okay, so anyway, these are our list of five things to watch for, and we will be back with horoscopes again either tomorrow or Thursday. I'm just working with Alex's schedule at the moment, and then you'll have your horoscopes for the month.
We're going to be looking at all of the planets across the Aquarius Taurus access that are talking with one another through the month of February. We'll be telling you what that looks like in your horoscope and then, you know, some other good transits to look at as the week goes on. Alright, that's it for now. I hope you're having a good one, and we'll see you again tomorrow. Bye.
