Hi everyone this is Acyuta-bhava from Nightlight Astrology and today we are going to take a look at Mercury's retrograde in Scorpio. So this is a part of a couple of transits this week that are all coming together at once. And as promised, when we were taking a look at the Sun opposite Mars retrograde, today we're going to take a look at Mercury opposite Uranus as it station to turn retrograde. We also need to look at the Sun square Pluto. There's going to be a Venus opposition to Neptune. You've got Mercury retrograding and going back into the opposition with Uranus again. There's so much powerful, so much powerful astrology happening right now.

Alright, let's take a look at Mercury first of all. Mercury stationing as I'm making this video and opposing Uranus in Taurus. Mercury is going to turn retrograde between Wednesday and Thursday. So that's the next couple of days you've got, you know, Wednesday, you've got a stationing Mercury, which often can be a time of something one of the most intense parts of a Mercury Retrograde transit and I'll explain why in a minute. And then Mercury is going to go retrograde. And by next week, we'll once again oppose Uranus exactly in Taurus, and then it spends its retrograde, typically about three weeks, and the cazimi moment is going to be right around October 25. And then you're going to have Mercury coming back into Libra. And as it does so, right around Halloween, it will square Saturn. And then it's going to turn direct stationing and turning direct on the second the third and is direct again by the fourth in Libra in a square to Saturn. Very interesting, especially considering that that's happening during election day here. So that's the sequence of this Mercury Retrograde.

Now the opposition to Uranus will be exact between Monday and Tuesday of next week. So you've got a little bit to wait for that but it's going to happen pretty quickly. Alright, so Mercury retrograde in Scorpio opposite Uranus while we have this very powerful sequence from Mars, retrograde the sun in Libra the stellium in Capricorn. And if you again if you listen to the talk that I gave earlier this week on the Sun opposite Mars and also looking at the Sun square Pluto, those are dynamic transits happening in the midst of this Mercury Retrograde which if nothing else just amplifies the the likelihood that you experienced this Mercury Retrograde a little bit more acutely than usual. It's a grab bag that you have to look at your birth chart and see where that Mercury Retrograde is falling in order to get an understanding of how it may or may not be influencing you. If you have Scorpio rising, Taurus rising, Aquarius rising or Leo rising, then this Mercury Retrograde is going to be falling into one of the angular houses in your chart opposing Uranus and another one of the angular houses and you're probably more likely to experience it then, especially if you have planets right around say 9 to 11 degrees of any of the fixed signs, you may also feel it a little bit more intensely. But in general, here's what to watch for.

One of the meanings of retrograde that I was reminded of by a guest speaker that I recently had come and speak to my students, Martien Hermes. And he brought this up in reference to something that Robert Schmidt originally said, who was an astrologer and philosopher and mathematician and he was part of this group called Project Hindsight that translated a lot of the ancient source texts into English again for the first time in many hundreds of years. So we have these texts around in the English language, and and making an appearance again in the West, I should say, for the first time in a long time. So his, when he was talking about retrogradation, one of the things that he mentioned was, he was very aware of the way that the ancient Greek language and certain terms in the Greek language, especially within the astrology textbooks, was related to a legal paradigm, meaning that there were certain words that were used that almost made it seem like the astrologers were using a kind of cosmic courtroom analogy within the texts, which is really interesting because the planets are, of course, the judges of our fate, the kind of the, the arbiters of our of our destiny, and they have power to judge whether people rise or fall. They're kind of the karmic administrators. They're the administrators of cosmic karmic law, you could say, when a planet goes retrograde, one of the meanings that Schmidt mentioned, as kind of a possible way of understanding retrogradation was as in the, there was an etymological connection that he made to the idea of a cross examination. So, in a courtroom, let's say, you know, a witness gets up and says something, and adds their testimony to the case. Now, one of the things that planets were said to do by the ancient Greek astrologers word was to testify that when a planet is doing something, making an aspect, entering a house for the first time, appearing as a morning or an evening star, that it would be offering its testimony. A testimony to what? Well to the life of the native, to our lives, to the destiny path that is in front of us, and to how things are going to unfold to our fate, to our karma, so they act as witnesses, and they have an influence on divine law, and on how that plays out in our life. They add something to that. So they're witnesses. That's one of the ways that aspects are talking about that the planets act as witnesses. When a planet goes retrograde, one of the things that Schmidt talked about was this idea that a planet could be going through a period of cross examination, that is to say, if it has added one testimony, it may have to that testimony may be called back into question, or called back for cross examination, in which case, what was said or added to the life of the individual by the planet may be taken back for good or for worse. If there is a planet retrograding, in other words, and it has said, Hey, I'm going to add, you know, a lot of money to your life, a planetary retrograde could imply that, you know, the witness is going to get back up on the stand and be called to testify to the native again, in that same area of life, say it's retrograding in your second house. And it could be that some of that money will have to be taken away, because Mercury is being sort of cross examined on a topic that it previously added a different kind of testimony to. So it's a really interesting conceptual way of understanding retrogrades and it could it could be for the better or the worse, there's some things that you know, a planet may say and in a retrograde calls it back into question and may also remove some kind of affliction that was previously added to our lives, if that makes sense. But one of the best ways of understanding retrogradation though, in terms of this cross witnessing idea, or that kind of the image of the planet on the witness stand is also to say that you will learn more than was initially presented, that there will be more information given to you and oftentimes that information may be in conflict with the earlier information presented. In this case, it's as though a planet says something or add something to our destiny path. And then later, when it gets called into retrograde, it adds layers to the testimony, it's asked questions from a different direction, and that different direction may provide with a conflicting set of testimonies or it may provide conflicting evidence or it may provide a different perception or perspective.
8:30
So now why is that so important? And why do I choose this particular conceptual way of thinking about retrogrades today? Because Mercury is also in a sign of water sign like Scorpio, all the water signs were traditionally said to be mute, which is a way of saying that they were silent or quiet or even secretive. And I think this is interesting, because the Mercury retrograde in Scorpio may have the power to reveal things that have been hidden. Something was said earlier in our lives, the planets said something, made decrees about our fate, and then later, we have additional information added to our life story and it may call something into question, call us to doubt something or call us to it may disturb our faith in someone or something. Because, in particular, the kind of information that comes forth in Scorpios often have a Mars like nature. So it's both hidden, mute, watery, and deep. But also when it comes up it may have the effect of being a kind of cathartic revelation. When something comes up in a Scorpionic sense, there's often a more explosive and confrontational edge to it. So that what's being revealed, that was hidden previously, is now speaking, may also come at us in a way that is confrontational or difficult. Alright, that was difficult enough to explain.
10:12
So remember that Mars was a planet that was when associated with mercury was associated with things like investigation, like investigative journalism or scalpels and surgery, or math and science and chemistry or cooking things. Mercury-Mars could be like a blacksmith or, you know, a chef or a baker or someone who wields knives and makes their living through such things. What I find really interesting about this, when you apply it to the kind of information or the kind of speaking that Mercury might do right now, is the messenger is that Mercury may very easily try to penetrate down into levels of information that have been withheld from our view, and then reveal it in a way that is troubling or disturbing. And we have added testimony to this potential by virtue of the fact that Mercury will also be opposing Uranus. And Uranus is the planet of rebellion, defiance. And you could think of Uranus as a kind of circuit breaker, that this planet likes to defy convention, it likes to break apart, habituated patterns. It likes to challenge the status quo likes to think outside of the box, it's often very disruptive and has a way of interrupting normalcy with quick, fast, sudden, transformational bolts of energy. And so the regulatory nature, the cross examining nature, and also the the sudden way in which information can come kind of exploding out of the depths, and possibly causing us to have to confront something that we haven't seen or that we've been denying, or hiding or neglecting. So that's a big theme right now. And the potential for these issues to also be technological is really big because Mercury and Uranus together often represent breakthroughs in technology, both Mercury and Uranus are associated with different forms of thievery. So you have things like identity theft, cybercrime, all sorts of stealing or hiding information, see things have issues surrounding secrecy or privacy, and questions about what should or should not be shared or revealed to others versus what people feel like everyone should be able to know or see. So these are the kinds of themes that we're likely to encounter in the next especially in the next week or so, but throughout the next couple of weeks with Mercury retrograde.
13:11
Now when Mercury is stationing as promised, it's as though Mercury stops and suddenly gets really, really bright and hot, because there's this feeling of a potency that's building and growing within a planet when it's stationing. And then its turn of direction marks this intense period of cross examination that starts to occur. But the stationing itself is often when things break down and in a reversal of some kind starts to assert itself. We're going to look in a different direction now or something in the opposite direction of where you've been going is going to start to occur. And the shift or change in momentum starts to present itself, starts to take hold when the planet is stationing direct. This is why it's so important, by the way when you're tracking transits to not just look at the direct moment when the planet passes over another planet, but to look at the moment where it's stationing direct and will then in the next sequence of direct motions aspect the planet because when that is happening, that will often mark the turn of the plotline where I'll give you an example like if step if Saturn is stationing and is going to turn direct and in its next sequence of direct motions is going to square Venus in your chart. Oftentimes it will be that turning point when Saturn is turning direct and will then next go and square Venus that a critical turning point in relationship to the Saturn Venus transit will occur and For example, you may meet someone who in six months down the line when Saturn squares Venus, you will become committed to or you will become more serious about, which are often Saturn Venus themes, among other things, that would be more difficult, right? But trying to be upbeat here. So watch the places where the planets stations, and turns direct. Those are really pivotal turning points.
15:26
And we have that kind of turning point before us, basically now through Monday, which you know, I give it about three days, give or take, just after that planet stations, you know about three days as it's turning retrograde, a couple of days. Think of it as a continuous turning point. So I would mark it out between now and the beginning of next week as this as this pivotal point for Mercury and Uranus. You may have already experienced some of this over the past week because Mercury passed through the opposition to Uranus. And it's now sitting down stationing and it's going to go back over it. So this is a really interesting moment. And I think probably the theme that I have in my awareness most is this idea with Mercury and Uranus that the information that comes to light that comes to surface could engage in a series of very combative or potentially hostile dynamics where you have to take action really quickly and it's very overwhelming. Where a big curveball, or chaos, an unexpected event comes and you have to take action pretty quickly and respond to it. Where information comes to the surface that may create some tension or conflict and we see that because the ruler of Mercury in Scorpio is Mars who is retrograde and moving through the square to Pluto and the square with Jupiter the square the opposition with the sun. So the potential for it to be more combative is there because it's so Mars-like right now. But remember that Mars retrograde is also in the cross examination phase itself right now. So look at the houses of Scorpio and and Aries in your chart, those those houses are really really important right now. And will be for the next weeks ahead.
17:41
Okay, and then, remember that by the time all of this is done, Mercury is going to have to go direct again go back into Scorpio and then eventually, in November, it's going to oppose Uranus all over again. So this is a there's a number of really interesting twists and turns that this Mercury Uranus dynamic is going to present us with. I will be mentioning more about how I think this is going to impact the election, in a later video. I just wanted to give you guys this for today. So think about the Scorpio area of your birth chart and and what might be getting revealed are uncovered. And there might be relief that comes with what's being uncovered. It's not as bad as I thought, or, wow, there's more there than I thought there was or, or there's a new possibility. And I had no idea that this was even a possibility, right. So as those things happen, they can be very inspiring. And they can also throw a little bit of divine chaos into the mix right now. It's a good time to be probing and penetrating and sort of investigative with your mind, but also not paranoid. And there may be moments of real mental or intellectual excitation and sort of epiphanies and little breakthroughs or aha moments in the next week. But be careful that you are also not jumping out of your pants with enthusiasm because it can be a little zealous, and Mercury Uranus is a little bit, you know... Jerry Maguire. You remember in the very beginning of that movie, Tom Cruise is like he quits his job and he he writes this big manifesto or whatever, and then he's like, fired and then he leaves his job. This is big, like who's coming with me, who's coming with me and I think Renee Zellweger came with him and that was it. So it may be like a moment like that where you just want to break, you want to break free. But I was also thinking about how my daughter basically tried to boycott her parents the other night. She was like, really upset about what she had to eat for dinner. And so she was like, I am going to quit this family. It was adorable too because she has these silk scarf things that she plays with. And so she had one wrapped around her head and she looked like kind of like a drunken pirate. Anyway, so you know, just be careful not to let your own drunken pirate tirades, burn bridges or anything like that, especially in the next week.
