In this talk, I will explore the ancient meaning of the 8th house, whose topics traditionally included fear and anxiety, the belongings and esteem of others, karmic debts and penalties, death, and the “esteem” of others. In Indian astrology, the 8th house, like the 4th and the 12th houses, was also associated with “moksa” or liberation. But where do these topics come from, and how did they ever come to be associated with the 8th house? What can we do to work with placements in this house, and what are the blessings or healing potential of this house in the birth chart? Is the 8th house really so scary?
