In this talk I'm taking a look at two aspects perfecting today, Saturn square Uranus and also Venus square Mars.

Hi everyone this is Acyuta-bhava from Nightlight Astrology. Happy Wednesday everybody. Today Saturn is perfecting its square to Uranus. And at the same time Venus is moving into a square with Mars. So I thought that it would probably be a pretty good day to talk about this do a live stream. It's always interesting when you are tracking a major transit to pay attention to what other transits maybe more minor looking or faster moving transits are perfecting right around it. Because it's often that juxtaposition that will help you understand the heart of the transit or help you hone in on and specify some of the actual content of the transit. So that's what we're gonna do today. We're really, we've said a lot about Saturn and Uranus already. We haven't said as much about Saturn and Uranus given the particulars of Venus Mars that are that are perfecting at the same time.

Before I dive in today, I also wanted to take a moment to announce the beginning of my new course. This is something I've been sort of previewing for a while, I've been telling everybody that I have a new course coming out and looks like it's going to be up in on my website today, which is awesome. So the new course is called Readings and Passages. And it is an intermediate course intended for students who are already enrolled in or have completed my first year programme. And I'm going to talk to you a little bit about it today before we dive in. So I thank you for just bearing with me for moments, I can tell everyone about it all at once, versus writing 100 individual emails or you know, stuff like that. So at any rate, basically, the idea for the programme started several years ago, because one of the fundamental beliefs that I have as an astrologer is that you can't really learn how to read charts for other people and tell you until you see some live readings done. I mean, for me as a growing astrologer in my practice, I think one of the most difficult things was realising that, you know, I didn't have really any idea how to read charts for people, like there's a lot of information. There's a lot of theory, but there's almost like this big. This big question mark around, how do you take any of this and actually read for somebody? How do you actually read a chart for somebody. And that was that was a really big mystery to me. So what what I started doing in my programmes in the last third of my one year programme, basically eight or nine sessions out of 30 I started bringing in live clients and showing people how I read for people. So my students get to see me kind of flip open the hood of a birth chart, get into it from a craft standpoint, read for someone after the client leaves the online classroom, then we break down the session further and my students ask all sorts of craft questions. Why did you read this way? How did you organise the reading? And why did you choose to focus on this thing? How did you make that prediction, etc. And also just the kinds of intangible, almost like counselling skills that you need to learn when dealing with with people and yet you're not a trained therapist. You're not a psychologist that's not for most of us as astrologers. It's not something that we're necessarily going to have specialty training in. So what is the role of like, what kind of space do we hold as an astrologer? So all of those kinds of questions are things that I unpack in my class. But what I've been getting over the years, more and more was people saying, look, that isn't enough for me, I need more of that I need like a whole class devoted to that. So I decided to make this programme called Readings and Passages, which is a another one of my advanced programmes. So like all my advanced programmes, there's 24 classes on the year. And what we're doing in this programme is deep craft analysis, like a masterclass, you could say, and what I'm doing is bi weekly, so twice, twice a month, I'm giving all the students in my programme, a birth chart in advance the study was certain kinds of questions that I want them to answer. And then I'm going to read for that person, record the reading and upload that reading into our class website. Students will then also receive a second video, which is a craft breakdown, where I basically explained to you the way that I did everything and why I did everything, and other notes that stood out to me as well as things that I might have wanted to do differently in the reading. So students will have gotten to prepare for the reading as if they were doing it, they'll then get to see the reading broken down, they'll get to see the actual going from the theoretical into the real space of a live client. And then they'll get a craft breakdown. After that, there'll be forum discussions, which I'll lead and participate in for students to continue asking questions that might be generated through watching these live readings and through studying charts. That's the first half of the programme. That's why it's called Readings and Passages. The name of the programme is readings because there's going to be 24 live readings and craft breakdowns and forum discussions based upon them.

The other thing that I've decided to incorporate into the course, are passages from ancient astrology textbooks. So the reason for this is really simple. And it's another thing that people ask me about all the time. People that come into my programmes are learning about ancient astrology from myself and from people who have taken the time to read the actual source text, sit down and read for machista materna. Sit down and read tutorials sit down and, and read Paulus or vettius Valens, or Ptolemy, or Manilius, all of these, you know, ancient astrologers, those textbooks for most people are really, really intimidating. Because they're dense, they're not like, it's not like light reading, right. But I believe very deeply that more students of ancient astrology need to learn how to approach those texts, and read them and feel confident in reading them, and studying them for themselves. A couple of reasons, one, with a few good tips and, and with some healthy modelling, they're not that hard to read, that's the first thing. And so that's one of the goals of this programme. And I'll tell more about how that's going to happen practically in a second. But the second goal is that the ancient astrology manuscripts were written in a way that was deliberately enigmatic or sort of cryptic, which means that you have to learn how to read them in a certain way in order to extract all sorts of really beautiful, theoretical concepts. And I'm not some master who's uncovered all the secrets of ancient astrology manuscripts, but I have learned how to read them better and better over the years. And a lot of the deepest and richest experiences that I've had have come from learning how to read these sort of cryptic, ancient texts. And so the other part of the programme called passages involves bi weekly passage breakdowns. So what that entails is a set of passages, maybe totaling a couple of pages, so not much to read at all, a couple of pages, but these are dense pages, right? They're filled with a lot of information. And then what I'll be doing is, after students read that, bi weekly, they'll get a breakdown, a video breakdown of how I recommend reading such passages, how I recommend, you know, approaching the art of reading ancient astrology texts. And then also what are the esoteric or hidden dimensions of this section that we're reading or some of the deeper stuff. And in looking at that, it's going to teach you not only how to read ancient manuscripts for yourself. Ancient astrologers, the way that they wrote was intended to make the student have to think very deeply and differently. And so having that experience firsthand, has changed my life in my practice as an astrologer more than maybe anything else. So that's something that I really want to try to give to students more and more so bi weekly, there will also be reading assignments. And in those reading assignments, we'll be unpacking them and trying to learn how to read them, and how to excavate the esoteric depths within them, so there'll be biweekly reading assignments and then passage breakdowns where I walk you through those reading assignments and what there is to be gained from them and then form discussions based on those as well. So it's entirely correspondence there are no live classes. This is just for people who really want to go deeper with the craft of reading birth charts. And also who want to go deeper and learning how to read the esoteric dimension of, of ancient astrology texts. So again, for people who want to take this this will be people who are either in my one of my programmes already or who have graduated from one of my programmes. That's the that's the prerequisite because I want people to be familiar with the craft language that I teach them in my year one class before seeing me go into all this in depth craft material so don't end up having to explain things that I've already explained elsewhere. So thank you for listening. I'm really excited about it. I've been wanting to tell people about this class for a while the there is a pre registration sale on the class if you go to my website this afternoon. It should be up by this afternoon the next few hours go to nightlight astrology calm go to the courses page you'll see readings and passages course newly up there until April 1 there's going to be a pre registration sale you save a couple $100 off the you know the the course cost, the early bird rate will then be in effect. And there's also a payment plan and need based tuition as always donation base kind of scale for people who are hurting financially but but really trying to study astrology so so all of that will be there this afternoon. Thank you so much for giving me just a couple of minutes to talk about it. Now let's dive into today's astrology. So what I want to do with today's astrology is I want to talk about the fact that Venus is moving into a square with Mars again, as Uranus is in Saturn or perfecting their square. So what does that look like? Well, here we go right here. You can see Saturn and Mars or excuse me, Saturn and Uranus squaring each other at seven degrees of Aquarius and Taurus the moon is there right now to picking up the aspect and really amplifying it as it's perfecting, that's a big deal. And then simultaneously, we also see that Venus is moving into a square with Mars. Now, Mars is in its detriment currently in Venus's sign, which means that and Venus is in the superior square position. So Venus has the upper hand in this dynamic. And that's what I want to talk about what are the pros and cons of Venus being in the superior square to Mars while Saturn and Uranus is perfecting this square between Venus and Mars, by the way, will perfect between now and say Fridays and you'll feel the effects of it probably until I would say Monday or Tuesday. Right so so that's the basic over overview. Now remember that this is also happening. This transit is happening in the midst of the Saturn Uranus square, which I've spoken a lot about already. And I want to say a few things about that first.
12:55
So Saturn and Uranus making the square we have the principle of you know, the conservative quality of Saturn, the discipline, serious, sober, austere, sometimes rigid and inflexible qualities of Saturn. We have then the innovative, original, disruptive, defiant, rebellious, radical, unexpected qualities of Uranus. So we've seen for example, one great example of this in the news, although there's there's been, there was a dam that broke in India, apparently not long ago, because of a sort of unnatural act, there's been power outages, huge in Texas because of cold weather. I've heard about some big earthquakes in different places. Now, a lot of those things just happen, right. But you will notice that sometimes very dramatic or very pronounced moments of structural sudden structural collapse, we've mentioned how many times now over the past few weeks, the tower card from Tarot, very good energy for the sudden way in which Uranus can topple existing structures through unleashed, you know, kind of chaotic forces of nature or energy or whatever. Um, so that's like in the air right now. And then we've applied that so in so many different ways Saturn can impress itself upon Uranus and say, look, the limit is the freedom or find freedom within limitations or find a creative way of reinventing or shifting an existing structure. But sometimes it's going to be like, let's throw out a structure and innovate entirely new structure. Sometimes you're going to get someone saying, look, you need to find some degree of flexibility of freedom within a tradition or within an established way of doing things. So there's a real dialogue going on between these two planets right now. And it's not just as simple as get rid of old structures and invent new ones. That's one part of it, but there's all this other stuff too. So that's kind of a recap on the past three or four videos, I guess that I've done on Saturn Uranus.
14:51
Now what could it mean that Venus is squaring Mars from this overpowering position?Remember Mars is a bit subordinate to Venus right now because Mars is in Venus's sign. We also have Venus in that superior square position over Mars. So that was what I went into today wanting to understand when I did my morning meditation, and I cast the I Ching. again today, I did that yesterday as well. And when I cast it, it came back with a really good reading that I thought I would share with you guys in order to explain what some of the difficulties can be. With regard to Venus and Mars.
16:05
Okay, so this I Ching reading I thought was really, it was really point on point. And if you've ever looked at the I Ching, before, you know, you'll know right away that this hexagram is really, totally fitting for Venus in the superior position over Mars. So that hexagram that came back was number 22, which is sometimes called grace and I want to read you a little overview of this that I think is really nicely put. This is from a website that I like alldivination.com there's some good stuff on the I Ching here. Number 22.
16:40
"A splashy sunset bathes the mountains in a soft radiance, the light of a full moon dances on the surface of a rippling river. Grace and beauty adorn the natural world. Grace is neither an all powerful force nor an essential or fundamental thing. By itself, it is formed without content. Grace is moonlight on water, not the sunlight at noon. Yet grace springs artistic expression into the world and enhances the quality of our lives. Grace springs success in small matters. In the arts, grace arises out of adherence to form, the dancer becoming the choreography of the dance the musician giving life to a musical score, the painter becoming one with brush and canvas, and human affairs, graces aligned with mastery of aesthetic and cultural forms honed by time and honoured by tradition.
17:31
Through appreciation of graceful forms and human culture, we apprehend the pure beauty of the ideal, of life raised above the struggle for survival. Possession of grace, like the bearing of a beautiful gift to a wedding can add stature to those in humble positions. Take care to lend grace and dignity to small matters while giving the weight of deep and careful consideration to matters of greater importance. Though artistic flair should not be confused with true substance it can take one far in this world."
18:01
I love that. Here's another one that the actual you know, the actual reading. Grace should be given its due, but there is no advantage in allowing it to advance or take the lead. Another another translation of the judgement of this hexagram Grace has success in small matters, it is favourable. And then grace or adorning something is successful, it is beneficial to go somewhere in a small way. And the image that's associated with this hexagram is fire at the foot of the mountain, which adorns and makes the mountain look beautiful at sunset, right. So if you think of like a campfire underneath the mountain, you the light has this way of adorning and making that tall mountain in the evening looks so beautiful. So one of the basic teachings of this hexagram has to do with making something better by adorning it. And then the potential downside of this hexagram is focusing on the appearance of something versus the substance of something. So in this hexagram there's another one that I really like this comes from IChing123.com.
19:20
"It can't just join things to each other. Therefore, grace is granted. Grace signifies to adorn all things have their edges and angles, so they must be trimmed and oiled to fit together without friction. Grace signifies to adorn an object to improve its appearance, like adding adjectives and adverbs to a literary work, the essence. However, this hexagram also involves enhancing the essence to improve its quality. Therefore, grace is the subject of both gracing appearances and enhancing an essence."
20:01
I love that all of these are really nice, like nicely put. So here's a few things too. All of that is just a precursor, because there's going to be a little bit more with this reading. So let's back up and talk about Venus in the square with Mars. A square is of the nature of Mars, which means anytime you have two planets in a square, you're always going to have one that's superior, and one that's inferior. And that doesn't mean better, good or better, or something like that. It has to do with a kind of power dynamic. So in the ancient astrologers noticed that there were many different types of relationships between things. And then there were ways in which different things that had relationships could relate. For example, you can have brothers and sisters that get along and you can have brothers and sisters that fight brothers and sisters is a universal type of relationship, they can then they can then relate through, you know, compromising peaceful, harmonious relations, or they can they can relate through conflict, power, submission, and domination, etc. And they just were noticing like, our language, the language of astrology has to be able to cover all of these different types of relationships. So you have Venus, and Mars in a square right now, which is of the nature of Mars. In that relationship, typically, in a Mars like relationship, there is always going to be a kind of like an aggressor and then there's going to be someone who is more subordinate. Or there's going to be an assertive one, and then a receptive one. And it can be positive or negative. So for example, you know, I think if I think of my kids, when my daughter was little, I had a daddy daughter day, every day of the week, one day a week for my daughter, Gigi, I had a daddy daughter day, and I would take her to the aquarium. And there were these fish in the aquarium that would take turns chasing each other, right? One would chase the other one, and then it would stop and then it would reverse and the other one would chase the other. And my daughter was like, loved this this was in this is just one of my memories of going there, which I had a membership. So ended up going a whole bunch. And perfect way to spend a whole afternoon. So at any rate, in this dynamic, this is life, right? This is it's a glimpse of nature, what we all do all the time Tag, you're it now I'm chasing you, right? And then and then I tagged you, and then now you're chasing me. And the same thing in love, do you think of the tango and the the back and forth that the lovers erotic tension between pursuing and pursued, and there's play in that. And so we know when Venus becomes dominant over Mars within that dynamic, it can be sexual, it can be playful, it can be creative. And it's a moment where Venus becomes the dominant one. And there's all sorts of really positive examples that you could think of, for let's just give a simple one. So let's imagine you're in a marriage or a relationship of any kind. And, you know, typically, you'll let's just say your partner tends to, like wear the pants, they're the ones who was more assertive, right in the dynamic, and maybe some relate. It's not like every relationship has to have a more dominant one. That's not at all what I'm saying. Let's just a lot of relationships do though. So let's just say you tend to be the more passive receptive one, you kind of tend to be more of the follower, let your partner lead or whatever. This would be a moment where the the tables could get turned. And it's an opportunity for you to assert something and your partner's kind of like, yeah, I've got to listen here, I can't be the leader, you've got to wear the pants in this moment, like, I'm going that way, you know, you know what I mean? So like that, that the flipping of that Venusian dynamic can be really healthy, it can be erotic, it can be creative, and it can be a chance for Venus to assert something over Mars. That's more in Venus's interest. But Venus is still gonna assert it in a way that has that kind of, you know, that that tension of Mars built into it. So I, you know, in, for example, you know, like, you could just think of people making love, you know, am I on top, or am I on bottom, like I know, that's this, I don't mean to put get this, like get this like really steamy YouTube video going on right now. But that dynamic is present in all different areas of life is the point, right? Am I giving pleasure or am I receiving it?
24:48
So Venus right now is in command. And you can just you can think about it that way. And there's all sorts of very positive things you could imagine in thatsituation in your own life and at work or in love or with your kids or whatever. The thing that we don't always think about the end, and the thing that I want to focus on that is really often a part of the I Ching reading is, what does Venus look like when Venus is being dominant in a negative way? Right? What is the dominant negative Venus look like? Okay, we don't always we don't usually think about that. Because what is Venus rule for aspects, you know, Venus rules the sextile, which means that Venus is usually associated with harmonising things. So Venus can harmonise things. And it's harder to imagine what a very aggressive dominant more Venus looks like. So one of the things that's going to happen as the hexagram 22 alludes to, is that Venus can care more about appearances than substance. Okay, so when Venus gets intensely aggressive about the appearance of something versus the substance of something, that would be a negative example of Venus square Mars right now, really easy and simple. Venus is a wolf in sheep's clothing at the moment, potentially. Not always, the planets are always changing in order to depict all different kinds of things. And it's not that Venus is only that right now. But that is one of the negative sides of Venus at the moment is that Venus could really care more about superficial things, and or try to cloak itself in the robes of virtue or beauty, or goodness, or anything that would sort of superficially look very nice and Venusian, but has a real Mars like agenda. In other words, Mars is getting co opted by Venus. And that's, I think that happens in all of our lives. Like it just from time to time that happens, we say, you know, I'm going to present something like it's good or true or helpful. And who could argue with it, right? Who could argue with that? But underneath there's a selfish motivation. I mean, the simplest example it's so human. And I think I've used this example before, but when my daughter apologises for something, and then like, within 30 seconds goes, so can I have a cookie? You know, what I mean? We know what to do, we know what appearance or what image to fulfil, in order to get something that often is inherently selfish. We know how to adapt and appear in certain ways to get some stuff done. And that is one of Venus's shadows. Venus's shadow is going to be I know, the adornment to wear in the substance isn't there. And that's the specific warning of hexagram 22. All appearance no substance. And so now, on the other hand, there is a way in which look, there might be something that you need to do that is functional, very Mars and Taurus, I need to do this it needs to get done. It needs to be functional, it needs to be practical, very earthy, Mars energy. It's like I need to, you know, I need to plough a field and plant some vegetables and like that's got to happen. And it doesn't have to look pretty, right? Because it's functional. I just need to eat. Okay, so that's Mars and Taurus. Mars might usually be in an earth sign very, like like that, like sort of just get it done, plough forward. But right now, Venus could be checking Mars and saying, you know, if this doesn't look beautiful, if it's not with decorum, or ceremony or ritual, if we're not sanctifying the experience and making it clean and beautiful than it doesn't matter how functionally helpful it is. So a simple example from parenting again, I always come up with parenting examples, because that's just where my head's at all the time. Okay, so one of the things that I've learned with my daughter who's a Sagittarius right, and Aquarius moon too. So she's really strong willed, strong minded. She's got a great spirit. And, like, you know, when she would do something that was really sort of defiant, and, you know, early on, I would try to have a consequence that just like, stopped it right there like you will never do it again, because this consequence makes sure that that doesn't happen again. I know not a punitive I don't spank or nothing like that, but like, you're getting a timeout and blah, blah, blah. And, and I realised really early on like that, that just didn't work, right like and there's some times where we have our kids sit down and calm down and stuff like that, but what I really realised really early on was that in my approach of parenting, that whatever my functional point was that I needed to get across to my daughter, if I didn't sit down and make sure that the experience of correcting her was done in love with the super, at least the superficial adornments of grace, calmness, beauty, etc. I wasn't being an effective parent. Like, I might have to tell her like, Look, you can't smash something over your sister's head. That might be the functional point that I need to get across. But how I do it matters. So Venus, overpowering Mars can also be about the need to learn how to talk about things or deal with things, or face things or get things done in a way that still keeps peace that is still beautiful, that is still sattvic, meaning that it's clean.
30:58
For example, one of the things that I have a memory of and watching movies over the time is like, let's say that there's some warriors somewhere, you know, and they're, they're about to go to war, right. But there are certain cultures and traditions that I don't know which ones they are, but I know they're out there, where you might have dinner, you might actually have dinner with your enemy before you go out to kill each other. I know that sounds crazy. It's kind of a crazy example. But like, haven't we lost in some ways the art of having tea with our enemies? Do you know what I mean? Like, can we not have spaces in our lives where we say, this has to get done, but it can get done beautifully. I don't have to kill myself doing it. Or this is a place of contention or challenge. But I'm gonna pay attention to how it's being done. Because one of the things that matters is in this hexagram is how we pass on tradition to future generations, conflicts are an inevitable part of life, how you handle them not who wins or loses not who's always right or wrong, matters more, because then it's like, there is a tea ceremony here that surrounds how I deal with my enemies, how I correspond with them, etc. And it's very easy to lose that, I lose it all the time. I mean, I'm not like the world's most patient person. I definitely fall out of that and just mess up. But I keep coming back to No, that's not the way to do it. And I don't mean superficial niceties. I mean, how can I express something where my will is needed? Like I'm a dad, I need to I need to lay down the law that you can't smash your sister over the head with something, you know, but how do I do that in a way that creates the feeling of ceremony, sanctification, ritualization, it's pure and holy, the way that we're doing things and addressing things and I'm not gonna be able to do all the time. But I can't, I can't go on making excuses for myself that function has the functionality of something has no need for adornment, for candour, for tact, right for a sensibility about how we do and think about things. And so that's another thing that hexagram 22 is talking about. And one of the things that we can learn from Venus, overpowering Mars right now saying, Look, there has to be, has to be a way of doing things that is good, graceful, tolerant patient, that beautifies for example, I'll give you another example. I get work done, you know, every day at my desk for like, 10 years now. And something that my wife has always done for me that is, I think it's one of my favourite things about her. It's such a small thing, but it's it. I fall in love with her because of this, like, over and over again. You know, she will just bring flowers into my office and she will put them on my desk. And she will just say, it'll help you remember what really matters, and it will help you to stay peaceful and it'll help you remember beauty. And it just, it's just a little thing that can help you stay in the heart of what you're doing. And for 10 years, like every couple of weeks, once it's spring or summer. There'll be flowers waiting for me on my desk, usually from our garden. And like, that's a perfect example of a good way of beautifying or adorning something right so we don't lose track that hey, I'm doing astrology everyday. It's a beautiful thing. Right stop and smell the roses of the moment. I'll bring some roses into the moment so you can smell them. And if you can't bring that with you, because whatever we've got to do is so is so like aggressive or assertive, that it's like, I'm too good for that it's too time consuming. I can't do I can't bring that in, I can't. It's like, then we're not passing down any really good traditions. For our children, what we're doing to future generations is telling them outcomes and not the process is what matters here. And the process matters because we beautify things, we make sure that the way we do things is important, and that we reflect on when we miss the way we should do things, right. If we, if there's some way we should have adorned something, and we miss that opportunity, then we reflect upon it, and we learn and go forward from it as well. So those are some simple truths from the I Ching today about Venus squaring Mars, what is superficial peace versus actual harmony? What are superficial changes versus true interior changes? What is the difference between image versus something which is true to the interior? How do we use adornment to add to the purpose of something rather than using it to cloak a hidden motivation, right? All of those kinds of things are very much a part of the astrology of the day today.

So that's what I've got for you. I hope that you guys have a great day. Please tell me your stories in the chat box. I don't know why the live chat stream wasn't working today. But I would love to hear where you guys were coming from when you were listening to this. How are you seeing Venus and Mars show up in your life right now? How is it contributing to that interesting push and pull between Saturn and Uranus? My challenge for everybody today, find some metaphorical flowers and bring them into the space where things are most intense, or where things are most busy or dynamic, bring bring some flowers into that space. Whatever the flower, they don't have to be literal flowers, just find a way of beautifying. And if you're beautifying things externally, in order to, you know, hide or, or make your intentions look or appear better, then considered being honest, consider making sure that you're being really honest and direct. So that that's the tension on both sides as far as I can tell right now, and check out hexagram 22 it's a really good hexagram from the I Ching. And thank you all for letting me tell you about my new course. If you guys have any questions about the new course you can email info@nightlightastrology.com and let me just check I don't think it's up yet. But I'm gonna check and just see it's not up yet but it should be in the next few hours. So go to nightlightastrology.com to see my new course to see my new course which is called readings and passages.
