Hi everyone this is Acyuta-bhava from Nightlight Astrology. Today we're going to be talking about Jupiter's conjunction with the Sun. Or should the Sun's conjunction with Jupiter which is going to be happening in the next few days. It's happening as a Full Moon is coming through also in the sign of Leo. I will be saving that I think for tomorrow or Friday, but I wanted to try to break down some of the transits of the week and parts. We talked about Venus's conjunction with Pluto at the beginning of the week. So now we're going to talk about the Sun and Jupiter. Alright, so I'm going to put up the real time clock and give you a peek at this. So you can see right now that the Sun is at eight degrees of Aquarius, and Jupiter is at nine degrees. And you'll also notice that the Moon at 24 Cancer, just about to move into Leo and make the Full Moon so let's track out exactly when all of this is going to happen.
0:56
So first of all, we're going to see the Sun get into the conjunction with Jupiter by tomorrow morning. That's January 28. And on January 28, as the Sun passes over sun moves faster than Jupiter through the zodiac, so the Sun will pass over Jupiter in the Zodiac creating that conjunction. Now, as that happens, Jupiter is going to be at the heart of the Sun. So positions called cazimi, and you're gonna see that playing out all day tomorrow. And you see it kind of starts to fade once you get to Friday. But tomorrow is a pretty special day with regard to the sun being right in an exact conjunction with Jupiter. I'm going to talk about that for the most part today. But I also want to give you a preview of what else is coming. So the other thing that's happening is tomorrow, you have the full moon in Leo. And yeah, I'm going to be saving the full moon talk for tomorrow. And then on Friday, I'll probably release my astrology of February video. So that's that'll probably be the way that I do it.

Anyway, so here's the Full Moon coming through. And you'll notice that as it's coming through the Moon is also going to be in a square with Mars, and the opposition with Jupiter and the Sun. So it's a pretty auspicious Full Moon in terms of being exactly the opposite of a Sun Jupiter cazimi like that. And this Moon, of course, is in the sign of the Sun. So there's a lot of like Sun Jupiter energy tomorrow, but there is going to be a degree of conflict involved because Mars is in the mix. So that's just a preview for what we'll do tomorrow. Now, today, what I want to talk about is just isolating in on Jupiter and the Sun. So let's break this down. And I like to I'm getting into this thing where I like to write on the screen, I get real excited, I get really excited about it. Alright, so what is the Sun represent? Well, there's different levels at which you can break down a signifier in astrology. Ancient astrologers, broadly speaking, broke the topics of planets into two basic categories. And these categories were actually pointed out by Robert Schmidt, who I'll be actually talking about a little bit today. He was one of the sort of progenitors the rebirth of Hellenistic astrology in the modern era, starting back in the 90s. So universal significators are going to be the way in which a planet and not every planet really has universal significations. They may have deep philosophical meanings in addition to lots of topical significations, but the sun the moon and the rising sign tend to take on these universal meanings. So the sun for example, is related to action and purpose like the driving plotline of the story. And that purpose can change and be modified and adjusted just like the plotline of a movie could change or a book could change.
4:00
That sense of ambition, direction, purpose that holds everything together that offers something of a gravitational centre around which everything else orbits. That's the plotline or the sense of action and direction. So the Sun represents that. Now the Sun was also associated with Oracles. Its joy was in the ninth house, the place of Oracles and divination, mysticism, spirituality and religion. Like, Plato associates the sun with higher truth with knowledge of the higher forms of reality that the philosopher and the mystic start to tap into when we contemplate the true nature of reality around us from the patterns in nature, to relationships and people and events. The world is always shimmering with higher truth. And we see that when we live a contemplative lifestyle when we meditate when we make prayer or mindfulness. A daily part of our lives, some form of connecting spiritually to our source allows us to see with the eyes of the Sun, that is to see beyond the appearances and into the the essence of things. So that higher principle of the Sun universally representative of knowledge and representative of the saintliness that starts to radiate from us when we come in contact with higher truth and embodied in our lives on a daily basis. So light, knowledge, clarity, and a sort of effulgence of saintliness, as well as action, purpose, plot. These are universal significance. Now, topically the Sun can represent things like kings, CEOs, leaders, even queens, it doesn't matter the gender or sex or whatever, that's not necessarily important. But father's in particular, compared to the Moon, which tends to be more like mothers. And also, you have things like fame or notoriety. Okay, so those would be like topical significations. Any and all of those can get activated when there is a transit to the Sun or that Sun is really prominent in some way. It's square to Pluto. It's conjoined with Uranus, whatever the case. So that's one level. So let's just write out purpose action, plotline as well as fame, leaders, and fathers. All right, just a few.
6:38
Now we have Jupiter. Now, Jupiter is very similar to the Sun in some ways, but also different. One of the broadest significations for Jupiter that something like a universal signification is going to be the idea of law and order. Law and order is often interpreted through the lens of Saturn by modern astrologers, right? You'll think of law and order in terms of rules and limitations, that really betrays how we feel about law and order, right or what kind of law and order maybe we have, maybe it's not such a good one. But Jupiter, broadly speaking represents law and order cosmically, karmically. You're talking about the laws of physics, and the laws of spirituality, somehow combined. There were different words that were used for this by ancient Greeks like Harmonia. In India, it's vritta, where you have a sense that the entire universe is brought together under meaningful patterns, meaningful order, harmony, goodness, justice, truth, beauty, that these all cohere and bring a sense of unity to the cosmos. Now there's an alternative perspective, which is that the cosmos is always in flux, impermanent and always being destroyed. And Saturn held that place as the God of winter and death and decay. Jupiter has that sense of everything coming together. Now, our mirrors of Jupiter in the world are going to be things like law, religion, morality, and of course, in the relative world of our human affairs, not talking about the absolute world of the divine laws of the universe, talking about our relative world, the earthly domain. In that earthly domain, Jupiter can represent competing ideas about order or morality or government or law or something like that. But broadly speaking, we should understand Jupiter as a planet whose most universal significations bring law, order unity and cohesion.
8:58
Jupiter is also a planet that affirms and confirms. It's like the cosmic green light, thumbs up, it provides support, and is associated with abundance, wealth, and prosperity. Abundance, wealth and prosperity are relative. When you hear those words people will instantly cringe because we think a lot about materialism and greed and hoarding of resources and you know, devastation of the environment at the cost of consumerism and things like that. But Jupiter more properly understood is like the abundance of the Amazon rainforest. right it's it's, it's rich with life, it's teeming with life. And, and there's a sense of almost like the rain that falls that causes everything in the garden to grow. Now, growth can be good or growth can be bad. So ancient astrologers also well aware of the fact that this sense of expansion, one of my least favourite Jupiter words alone because I've heard it a million a billion times, but that expansion can lead to good or bad it can lead to hubris and pride and arrogance. And it can bring things that are puffed up somehow, overconfident. But it can also bring tremendous growth. So those are some of the things associated with Jupiter. Jupiter is also associated with the institutions that reflect order, law, unity and cohesion. And that's another word that we don't like most of the time in the West, we think institutions are bad. But when an institution does its job, it provides the infrastructure, support and unity for certain things to happen, education to happen, learning to occur, religious experience to happen, not that the institution is the religious experience, but that it somehow provides shelter for meaningful religious experience or community to happen. And of course, at its worst, the institution becomes too domineering, we lose the essence of what the institution is actually supposed to provide us with. any institution whatsoever the institution of family if it becomes more about the institution than about what the institution of a family is supposed to provide us with love, you know, warmth, etc, then it becomes crooked. And Zeus is a character that's often like that, in Greek myths, Zeus vacillates between being the face of sort of, you know, the institutional hypocrite, you know who breaks his own rules and is a philanderer and so forth, versus a picture of the one who's always upholding the order. So we have those two coming together. When you have these two coming together, what do you get? Let's go to that level.
11:53
When you have these two planets coming together, the first thing to note is that before they can come together in a conjunction, which is the seeding point of a new cycle. Before they do so, because the Sun moves faster, the sun will start coming into a conjunction with Jupiter and it will be combust. Now the synodic cycles of the planets have been broken down in different ways, their patterns at different times in throughout the history of astrology. The method that I use, that I'm convinced by, comes in part through the mediaeval era, and it has its its goes way back as well. But some of the most interesting textual citations come from people like Abu Ma'shar and, and other astrologers like that in the mediaeval era is that, when the Sun is coming to conjoin, a planet It is as though that planet is falling ill on its deathbed, an old king, an old ruler, an old man, we saw that when the Sun came to conjoin, Saturn, old kings old men, dying, right, the combination of the Sun and Saturn. And we saw some examples of that some people were freaking out being like, please tell me that the only thing that represents isn't Larry King dying? And of course, it represents a lot of things, way too many to count. There's just some good examples of the astrology in the news like Larry King or Hank Aaron dying, very famous people. And why is it that those headlines versus you know, a million others catch our eye because they're famous people that you know, in their lives somehow become iconic, legendary, mythic and archetypal. And so they catch headlines, of course, there's probably you could come up with 1000 other examples of it from other headlines around the world. So it's not also to just glorify us like celebrity culture, they're just good examples.
13:51
But the Sun comes into the conjunction with Saturn, we see the death of solar figures because it's the Sun coming into contact with Saturn that represents old age and death. When the Sun comes to conjoin, with Jupiter, you could say that it's more like Jupiter type of figures go through a death and rebirth process, or the Jupiterian figures will potentially pass or die, or that there's going to be a kind of revitalization of something Jupiterian. So what does that mean? What does that look like? Well, again, any kinds of death and rebirth around leaders or political figures, significant changes in religious or governmental institutions. You could say that there is going to be an exploration of ethical issues and the need to reset or re-examine something that has been done in the past that was unethical or that needs to be corrected or improved. So, because Jupiter has that sense of order and unity, right so when you see the sun coming over it the light of higher knowledge going through a death and Jupiter going through this death and rebirth process with the sun, you think of a reboot around things that are ethical. You see a death and rebirth around Jupiterian figures.
15:22
So I find this really interesting because one of the things that's happening that fits this right away in my own life that I wanted to be sharing more of this with you guys soon, but um, so there's been a lot of people who have really influenced my life as an astrologer. One of them is Robert Schmidt. Schmidt was a part of a group of astrologers in the 1990s. From this place called Project hindsight, with Bob Zoller, and Robert Hand, and largely that community was responsible for sort of re booting the interest in ancient Hellenistic/Greek astrology, which has a lot of tie ins with ancient Indian astrology, and ancient divination and Babylonia and Mesopotamia and astrology. And in that 1990s era, there was this big awakening. And part of that was due to the fact that this team of people were translating the texts of ancient Greek and Hellenistic astrological source texts. And they were translating them. There were other translators too like, you have people like James Holden, and people who are working on this stuff like David Pingree, there's this whole kind of community of names that you'll hear about if you get into this stuff. But Schmidt died several years ago, and what happened was, after he died, there's been some talk about trying to get the vast majority of his audio archives available for people to listen to. It hasn't been done, because it's a lot of work. You know, his wife is left, it's not something she can just do on her own. So a group of his friends finally came together, and they have prepared a website to basically put out the entire archives of his audio work. Now, that's something that I've listened to, like, I'm pretty sure I've listened to every single thing he's ever done. And he's the reason that one of the actions that he's the reason but he's one of the big reasons that people like Demetra George, Chris Brennan, you know, Robert hand, and lots of other people that were there and influenced by his work, I think Austin Copic was there at one point in time, but if you know any of these names, you know that these are people who are kind of modern/traditional practitioners who have been deeply influenced by Hellenistic astrology, ancient Greek astrology. So his talks were very, very dynamic and really interesting, and he was this really dynamic teacher, and the body of his work is really vast, there's a lot of it and he was also unique, in that he wasn't at first really a practising astrologer. He was a philosopher, and he knew Greek and he was really well versed in Greek philosophy in ancient Greece, Greek mathematics, use kind of a Renaissance man.
18:50
But his excavation of all of those texts really inspired a whole generation of astrologers, including myself. It's been nearly impossible for a lot of people to hear and have access to that. So his audio archives are about to be released. And I just got word of this and I thought well, that it really couldn't be better timing for the Jupiter Sun cazimi because you're going through your symbolically Looking at the death and rebirth of two planets, or with especially with Jupiter that represent wisdom that represent, you know, the wisdom of the sages that that represent knowledge and that represent a kind of reconfiguring of that knowledge. So, the fact that after he has died now his work is being released shortly, I've been told, seems to fit really well with that. So if and when it actually is released, I've been told it is but you know, when the website comes out, I'm actually going to make a little video just giving people my thoughts, because I'm inevitably going to get a lot of emails from people being like, what do you recommend listening to or whatever, and I'll give you my thoughts on how to sort of ingest his material based on how it's been helpful for me.
20:46
But that news alone was such a perfect representation of Sun Jupiter. So Sun Jupiter, conjunctions can be moments of empowered or illuminated understanding and wisdom. Like I was saying, the need to explore or talk about things from the standpoint of what is ethical or what is true versus what is false or unethical, reconfiguring different things about institutions or organisations, especially because of some new vision statement, or some guiding principle that has to be installed so that, you know, maybe things work better. And there's a connotation here that things may have been falling apart with Jupiter under the beams of the Sun, you get a Jupiter that's dying, right? So when truth order unity, or anyone that sort of wears the mantle of that authority, has gone through some kind of death, and then there's a rebirth. This can also happen just in terms of reconfiguring your philosophy about something or your understanding of something. So those are the dimensions, themes, types of people that you might see going through this pretty deep reboot, now all of that is going to be amplified greatly by the Full Moon tomorrow and by the square to Mars, one of the things that we can add into this, just as a preview right away, is that whatever this installation is, it won't come without its conflict or controversy on some level, or the need to kind of willfully assert something. And there may be themes also of authority, wisdom, knowledge and rebellion, or defiance in relationship to it. So you also have this idea of, again, like political revolutions, or you have the picture of sort of defying or changing rules or laws because they're unjust or trying to manipulate them to suit your own ways. So there's all that kind of stuff going on. This also can be about needing to fight something that you feel is unethical or unjust. And so there's a lot of heroic and potentially contentious energy in the air around this Jupiter Sun conjunction given that Mars and Uranus are together squaring at the time of a Full Moon. Mercury is also about to turn retrograde so the idea that all of this could cause at least temporary setbacks, delays or the need for some deep form of revision is also possible.
23:51
The last thing that I would mention is just that you can with the sun and Jupiter, you can also you can run into questions, how is knowledge and truth the right thing, and so forth, how is that associated with power or with the ego or with the will or with anger or with individuality? What is our relationship with our own inner authority? That's a good question here. How do we stay true to ourselves, Mars Uranus, I'm going to be myself dammit, you know, that kind of energy versus you know, the Sun Jupiter which is asking for some kind of larger or more all encompassing vision or or truth or, or adherence to higher authorities or questions about our relationships with them. And remember, the Sun Jupiter can also be about the magnification of solar figures, meaning they get magnified or blown up somehow, but not probably without some tinge of controversy around it because of both the combustion of Jupiter right now and the square to Mars. But this rebirth is happening around Sun and Jupiter, which should be very lifting, after we face some initial level of potential conflict or disturbance around it.
26:47
So that's what I've got for you guys today. I would love to hear from you and hear it do you or does anyone out there have a sun Jupiter conjunction in your chart? Tell us all about it. What are you noticing? or How are you seeing these things at play in the world news? I am not watching a lot of the news these days. I'm trying to get back to my news fasting, but tell me what you see out there that matches with it. I'd love to hear from you guys. All right, that's what I've got. We're back tomorrow for more in the full moon. Take it easy, everyone. Bye.
