The Sun in Cancer Opposing Pluto in Capricorn

Hi everyone, this is Acyuta-bhava from Nightlight Astrology Happy Friday everybody. Today we are going to talk about the sun and its opposition to Pluto, which is actually perfecting over the weekend. So I'm going to go ahead and put it up on the real time clock, give you a look. And then we will break it down as always. So here is the opposition forming right now between the sun and Pluto. July 16, Friday, it's my birthday. I'm actually recording this in advance because I'm going to be out of town. So happy, happy birthday future Acyuta. So anyway, the opposition will actually perfect on Saturday, July 17, you can feel it really the 16th through the 18th, or the 15th through the 19th. If you want to be a little bit broader with the the degree orb. But in general, this transit is one of the bigger ones of July, specifically because it is coming on the heels of a Cancer New Moon. So we got a lot of emphasis on Cancer this month, we look at that whole sign house in your birth chart that contains the sign of cancer to get a sense of where there is quite a lot of activity this month. And especially right around this transit. A pretty big catharsis. So I broke that down in my horoscopes at the beginning of the month, sign by sign if you actually want to go back and visit it, you could do that and check for your rising sign. In the meantime, let's talk about what kinds of things the sun opposite Pluto bring in general.

So one of the best ways to think about the sun is in terms of something that Vettius Valens said about it, who was an ancient Roman astrologer who wrote a textbook that still survives today one of the more famous astrological textbooks, and he calls it the noetic light. So what do we mean by the noetic light? We mean the not that the sun itself is the noetic light but that as a symbol in our archetypal language, that it stands for the light of the higher mind, or in a platonic sense, the higher forms or higher truths of reality. In that regard, the something else that valance said is that the sun is related to daimon or spirit. And that it is a symbol that speaks to those things that conjure up images or ideals that we somehow end up striving toward, with, you know, so they are almost like an ideal image that becomes the seed of our ambitions and actions, I must do this, I feel called to do this, I want this I'm going to go become that. And so the sun can represent both higher truth in almost like a cosmic enlightenment sense. But it can also speak to those images that capture us that we end up moving toward, like the protagonist in a in a novel or or like a movie.

So when the Sun goes through this powerful opposition with Pluto, the subterranean intense deep primordial force, it's regenerative, it can be very dark and intense. It's kind of confrontational, it can be a force that kind of explodes from the underworld tends to point to repressed or pent up energies that get released very powerfully, sometimes sort of suddenly. So that that plutonian energy pressing in on the sun, one of the most common things that it will do is it will transform your sense of identity, insofar as your identity is linked to an ideal image that you're pursuing. If you ever heard someone say, that totally flipped my script, right? That's a Pluto sun dynamic. Maybe a Pluto, could be a Sun Uranus dynamic, even. But when when something is released from deep within, and it feels like an energy that we've been looking for or in need of it revitalises it regenerates, it restores, it rebirths. But it as it comes through, there's also the primal scream of like labour and, and that the darkness and the fear and the feeling that we're being seized by powers that are much stronger than us can be a little traumatic. And yet, we accomplish goals because of this force, we become empowered because of this force, we become compelled by this force, we become purged through this force. So that those are the real benefits of the Sun opposite Pluto. Now, your sense of destiny or purpose is not going to change so completely just because of this three day transit, it would have to be tapping into planets in your birth chart. For example, people like me who were born on the 16th of July and going through this last year, in this year quite dramatically. We moved. We've gotten relocated in our lives. There's been a lot of big changes like that. So you If you have planets around those early 20 degrees, like 23 through 25 of a cardinal sign, like Libra, Capricorn Aries or Cancer, you might be feeling this more intensely. If you have any planets at those degrees, not just the sun. But any planets at those degrees, you might be feeling an intensely if you have, say, 23 through 25 of a cardinal sign on the ASC or the descendant or the midheaven, or the IC, you might be feeling it very intensely. So it's not everyone's going to feel it as equally intensely. But in terms of a temporary influence moving through, you will notice it and again, depending on charts, you may feel it more, more or less strongly. But watch for these themes. And watch for things that are compelling you to transform and face fears and, and release pent up energies realise potential, just this couple day window is very strong. Now, the other thing is that the noetic light, which is we talked a little bit about the ideal image or action or ambition, life, sense of life, purpose of direction, changing dramatically when the sun hits Pluto. But remember, the noetic light speaks also to realisation.

So when things come up, and they show themselves and forces are powers of the unconscious, so to speak, are released, we also come to realise higher truths about not just ourselves and our temporary dramas, which are important too. But we also realise things about the capital T truth, we realise things about how to be virtuous, all the perennial values and teachings of great spiritual teachers in all traditions will tend to come pouring through as these subterranean forces are released. So you watch also for the light of the higher mind to be illumined by the force of Pluto, and the way that it compels change, it brings transfiguration. So those are two of the strongest indications. Now. On the other hand, you can have things like, you know, the kind of the the power, drive, ruthless, corrupt, because the sun can stand for leaders, it can speak to the need to be an authority figure, Kings, leaders, CEOs, fathers, or anyone who takes on that kind of Emperor role. If you think of the tarot card, the Emperor, the Sun can very much be like that. So if you think about the potential for corruption, or issues around power, or the darkness of the drive for power, those things can be exposed, you can see corruption with leaders, you can see the death of leaders, we think there was someone leader that was assassinated recently, and that's under the application of the sun to Pluto already. So the death corruption or things that are being revealed disclosures, around people in power, those are all Pluto Sun dynamics.

You can also think about the father in particular, sort of like deep ancestral karma around father, the Sun in Cancer in particular can also be about dynamics and families or homes or anything lunar can kind of come in there can be can be changed with a lunar dimension, because of the Sun being in the temple of the moon right now. And that could mean transformation around family circumstances or home or living environment. Doing a home project of reconstruction or renovation can be very plutonian, where it's like literal transformation of the the home in the ideal image of the home and so forth. So that kind of excavation of ancestral demons or skeletons and stuff like that those and also the excavation of things in the past brutalities in the past, there's a lot of that that's been in the air with cancerian energies to developing right now. And the bodies of schoolchildren that have been discovered. So these energies are also at work in the collective you can sometimes see them in the news like that.

Okay, well, these are the main things to watch for. I think the the most positive potential of this transit is to watch for the force of regeneration to come in, especially helping you rewrite, you know, we usually have multiple plot lines that like we just have one. So there's multiple plot lines going on in different areas of our life. Well, if you look at the Cancerian, whole sign House of your birth chart, that'll give you a sense about where the plotline is going through that deep intense transformation. And remember, the power the releasing power of emotions with cancer can be quite powerful as well. So you just want to, you know, take good care and think about constructive ways of releasing energy, I think think a little bit about that image of how a midwife is helping to make sure that a woman is not injured or doesn't tear her skin when she's delivering because she's not pushing so hard or it's not so brutal and intense that it rips or tears us open. So think about that as Pluto comes through as well, because the birth can be a little traumatic. So, you know, take care, be patient, try to make the change part of the vision for many years to come.
