Today, we are going to take a look at the trine that the Sun is making to Neptune, followed by the immediate opposition to Pluto in Aquarius as the Sun enters Leo. I'll explain what these two transits might mean together from five different vantage points. This comes alongside the upcoming Full Moon, making for a busy and dynamic July weekend.

Hey everyone, this is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology. Happy Monday, everybody. Today, we are taking a look at the Sun's opposition to Pluto. This is coming right off from the full moon that we had in Capricorn over the weekend.
Now, the Sun has moved into the sign of Leo and is opposing Pluto, just as Mercury and Venus have already done in this month of July. So, we have gotten quite a powerful series of transits this month. A lot of them have revolved around opposition's to Pluto, of course, last week we had the Mars-Uranus conjunction right before that was the Venus opposition to Pluto.
So yeah, this has been a very powerful month and we're going to continue looking at the transits of this month we also have Mercury just coming off from a square to Uranus. We'll include that a little bit in today's analysis of the Sun-Pluto opposition as well. But that is where we're heading for today. And before we do, don't forget to like and subscribe.

You can find transcripts of my daily talks on the website nightlight astrology.com. And you can also on the website, check out some of the upcoming events that we have. I want to take you over to nightlight right now because a couple of things coming up. If you go to the live talks tab you're going to see the next three talks have been posted. You can register for them.
In August, on the 22nd, we'll be taking a look at the eighth house, the place of karmic debts, and trying to clarify what this house is all about from the standpoint of ancient astrology in the vast history of astrology. What is this eighth house really about? And why is it associated with karmic debts? We're going to talk about that. On September 19, I'm doing a talk on Venus's 12 Love Languages, which ought to be really fun. This is a way of understanding what Venus loves, as well as her likes and dislikes, through the 12 signs of the zodiac.
And then, finally, on October 17, I'm doing a talk called The Myth of Astrological Compatibility. What everybody gets wrong about the astrology of relationships. You can hear my opinion about that topic on October 17, so some fun talks are coming up. I'm really excited about those. And hope to see you there. We just had our talk on Uranus in Gemini.
If you missed that, you can pick that recording up through the website, and any of our previous monthly webinars are also available for sale on the shop page. Okay, let's turn our attention to the real-time clock, where we are going to take a look at this opposition to Pluto. So here we are on Monday, July 22. Let's bring this over here.
So here you can see we have the Sun opposite Pluto today. And that transit will be perfect between today, July 22, Monday, and tomorrow, the 23rd. But if we give this about a three-degree range of separation, this will take us through Thursday of this week. And you probably felt this building over the weekend with the Full Moon in Capricorn, which also conjoined Pluto. So, if you've been feeling this since yesterday, the 21st, or even July 20, that would be pretty normal. The other thing that's really interesting is yesterday coming into today during the full moon, and as the Sun is now opposing Pluto, we also see Mercury perfecting the square to Uranus in Taurus.
So, a couple of more big transits are needed simultaneously. The other thing that is perfecting in the sky right now is Mars is trine to Pluto, which was happening yesterday, and today, the two planets are just separating. Mars is just separating from its trine to Pluto today, but that's very much still in the air and will be again through about Thursday of this week. So all of these transits that we're discussing today kind of fell through the weekend, and you'll be feeling them as the week unfolds overall.
Okay. And there'll be more that we're talking about as the week goes on. But those are the key transits we're going to focus on today, and I have, as always, five things to watch for. So we're going to talk today about what to watch for, especially given the Sun's opposition to Pluto and a little bit of the mercury square to Uranus that's still in the sky, especially that one because Mercury is in the sign of the Sun and squaring Uranus so so five things to watch for.
Number one is when it comes to the Sun. One of the things that the Sun is always cluing us into is how we seek light. I have glitter on my face. That's because I have two girls, and I swear to god that nothing happens to me without getting glitter on me. So it's like three, it's like, like three out of the five weekdays, when I sit down to do my video for the day, I'll look in the mirror, and I'll go, oh shit, I've got glitter on my face. Anyway, okay.
So, the Sun is frequently described in our birth charts, but it also travels month by month through the different wholesale houses in our birth chart. It describes how illumination comes into our lives, and illumination can be joy, it can be that blast of creative energy, it can be epiphanies and insights like the light bulb going off inside of your head, it can be like that sense of purpose, a clearer sense of what you want, or where you're going or what your intentions are. But we think of all those metaphors of light. The other thing that it can refer to is how we seek to shine on the world or how we want to be seen and how we want to be given light or attention. It's sort of like each of us has a part of ourselves that is like the Sun in the sky. The only object during the day you can see in the sky is the Sun because it drowns out; everything else can't see any stars, can't see any planets.
Sometimes, you can see the moon a little bit, but even then, it's the light of the Sun reflected off the moon. So the Sun is this luminous object that says, Look at me. So one of the things that happens when the Sun opposes Pluto is that Pluto represents everything that's hidden, everything that's subterranean, that's unseen, and that's unconscious. But that is a part of how and why things are happening. There are hidden forces behind everything. And this is what makes reality. So ominous meet, which literally means of the nature of omens, means that we look for signs and we appreciate them because we know we have an instinctual level of knowing that life is guided not just by conscious agency and choices but also by the mysterious laws of karma, the unconscious powers of the universe, the force of the gods.
And we go there, and there are mysterious forces at work in the universe. And I know that they're there. And I know I can't fully understand how they are going to orchestrate things. I know I'm not in control of everything. And so we walk with like a sacred. It's like a sacred sense of respect, a tinge of fear, but the good kind like a sacred fear. And that's kind of like a respect for Pluto that we walk around this world with; we watch for signs; the reason that signs mean anything to us is because we know that we don't understand the way everything works and that there are mysterious hidden forces at play.
So when the Sun contacts Pluto through an opposition, everything we're consciously trying to do, right, the Sun is so light and so clear, you can see it so visibly comes into contact with all the powers and forces that are behind or within are unconsciously related to our conscious choices and ambitions. And so we'll see in another level of this talk today one of my five things has to do with that. But the reason I mentioned that now is because I take that same idea and apply it to how or why we seek attention, fame, and notoriety because the Sun is connected to that sense. And each of us is special and unique. And the specialness or uniqueness of who we are needs to be seen and validated in the world. Now, for many of us, that's a really hurtful place; maybe we haven't received enough of that in our lifetimes, or for some of us, that's an egotistical place. It's complicated.
Maybe we struggled to be humble, or we're a little self-centered, and there's not, you know, one of us who probably doesn't deal with a little of that, too. Regardless of what we need for attention, what we need for validation, why we seek it, how we seek it, and where we find it. All of that is part of what's being revealed when the Sun opposes Pluto. So Pluto can say, here's some of the unconscious material or some of the hidden things related to how or why you seek attention. It's actually related to your childhood. It's actually related to your dad. It's actually related to, you know, insecurity that you never got over, and then you overcompensated by developing an ego in this particular way. It can be very psychological and biographical. But it's also about the unconscious motivations, who we want attention from, and why. And it's also about how we can change that. Well, Pluto and the Sun get together. And we can start to say, you know, I'm realizing that I have sought attention in this particular way, and I don't need to.
So, anything and everything related to how or why we seek out the experience of being unique or being validated for being unique. If all of that goes through this powerful moment of revelations, like, oh, now I can see how this is working in my life at a deeper level. What's interesting is that the same exact combination can sometimes lead to a very powerful and unconscious force of fate, you know, the forces of fate or destiny, that sort of bring forth an even more powerful demonstration of validation, we can be affirmed in more powerful ways that come on suddenly, that we aren't expecting, for example, transits of Pluto to the Sun in the natal chart are often associated with the death and rebirth of the ego, but also have powerful moments of success and achievement. Because Pluto can also unlock this hidden, regenerative, creative, rich sort of primal power that is ready somehow to ripen and show itself, and then all of a sudden, we find ourselves in receipt of tremendous forms of success or validation or public, like fame or, or recognition on some level.
Also, sometimes, those periods will come with temptations to become vain or to become more egotistical. So we have to be like really in touch right now with the sort of the fragile relationship between needing to be validated, which is superhuman, and looking for the sort of being like an, there's like a hungry ghost and an endless pit of neediness, I need to be special more and more, and it's never good enough. And it's never big enough. So watch for all of those dynamics around how we seek validation and how we look for that affirmation that you're special. What's that work within that for each of us? Alright, so that's my first piece.
Number two, paternal karma is released or is fruiting. So this is a moment of a really powerful moment, not for all of us, because it's often dependent on where things are falling in your birth chart. But anytime the Sun opposes Pluto, you have the potential for a powerful releasing, healing, purging, and sort of flushing out of paternal karma. By that, I mean whatever the gifts, or let's say, in this case, with the purging element of the cleansing, whatever the harms, or hurts, or baggage has been with respect to the paternal karma in your life, whether that's the presence of a difficult paternal figure or the lack of one. Anything that's more difficult or complicated, where there's, you know, there's been some hurt or wounds with respect to the father figures in your life. And those could be metaphorical. They don't have to be literal.
There's a moment here of great releasing and transforming of that karma. And then, on the other hand, I say karmic fruiting because not all Pluto-Sun opposition involves bad or negative father figures.
Many times, Pluto-Sun dynamics will come up when the fruits of the karma that has come into your life through your father, the things that your father passed to you, and all of the loveliest things are now hitting a moment of faithful fruiting. And remember, just like we said, sometimes the Sun-Pluto dynamic will show up when someone is becoming famous or hitting an image like a super eruption of success. Relatively speaking, that doesn't necessarily mean fame for everybody but an eruption of creative success or validation or something like that. It's a very positive Pluto-Sun dynamic. Similarly, Pluto Sun dynamics can come up with all of the best things that have somehow been passed on that you've inherited, that you've carried, that you've developed, that you can thank your father for, or a father figure four will sort of show up they'll fruit it's like that fruit is appearing on the tree.
I had some very powerful Pluto Sun dynamics happening, for example, in my life when I was becoming a dad, and I really felt during that time a mix right of becoming a dad starting to see heal release wounds from the father also really realizing that the some of the beautiful things that I've been given from my father, so it can be mixed to it can be a little bit of both. So watch for the fruiting, releasing, healing, and transforming of paternal karma.
All right, how about the death and rebirth of solar figures? This is right now, obviously in US politics. Consideration of the death of solar figures is very much in the air. We have, you know, two candidates that are older, first of all, older men. And one of them there was just an assassination attempt. And another one, there's quite a bit of controversy around whether he's too old or, you know, whether his cognitive abilities are strong enough. And I'm not here to debate those topics at all. I'm just mentioning them as a matter of fact as to what's going on this month, and I'm recording this a week out, right?
So I don't know what's happened between the time of recording this and the time that this will hit. But there is certainly a lot of conversation right now about the death of leaders, the age and mortality of leaders, and things like that. So, given that that's sort of in the air right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see more on the subjects playing out as the Sun opposes Pluto. Just saying, not necessarily literal death, but you get what I mean.
So, the death and rebirth of solar figures can also be about the mantle of authority that someone bears, how they hold authority, what kind of authority, how much the description of duties at a job, the type of post we carry, and the way we carry it. All of that can go through a change, almost like saying the role of authority, its list of duties, and its description can change. So watch for the transformation or death of solar figures or functions or positions or something like that.
Number four is because the Sun in all of our birth charts, generally speaking, is related to our sense of purpose. Just like the Sun rises and lifts all the planets upward toward the Sun, and we get up, and we rise in the morning. The Sun has this pole as a symbol in our lives to where we say I have a purpose; I have to get up; I have to rise and move like the arc of the Sun through a story. This is something I've been talking about in my classes for a decade. And that, that development of storyline in our lives, that sense of ambition and purpose that the life takes on like the plotline of a movie or the plotline of a novel or play that we often look for in the Sun's position in the chart.
Everything in the chart has the sense of containing a developmental arc, everything without exception, the story of marriage, the story of character, the story of religion, the story of career, anything and everything in Astrology can be looked at developmentally So, but the Sun, in particular, is sort of the archetype of a developmental plotline. And so the Sun's course over a lifetime is about the purpose and ambition, not just one, but many, like a field archetypally, that we work with and through.
When the Sun goes through an opposition to Pluto, it can be about the death and rebirth of our sense of purpose or a clarification of purpose or what has been inside of or beneath our sense of purpose or ambition, and therefore we can deepen our intentions, we can clarify our purpose, or we can let it go if it's no longer our purpose, or we can modify or revise or transform our sense of purpose because of the Healing InSight that Pluto brings up and out of the hidden space.
Finally, transformative ideas lead to substantive changes in the level of ego and ambition. Remember that in the background, Mercury is in Leo, and the sun sign is squaring Uranus in Taurus. So when those two planets square one another, Mercury and Uranus, you have this conflagration of creative ideas and rebellious thinking to find original, outside-of-the-box inventiveness. And it is just like, also can be very nervous and erratic, like mentally. And so when we put all that together, I think the potential is here right now for some breakthroughs in our thinking and communication for ideas or speech or information that appears suddenly and unexpectedly, to also play a role in how we are shifting our sense of identity. How we're sensing, transforming our sense of purpose, how the paternal karma is shifting, watch for Mercury-Uranus.
In other words to play a role in it, significations, especially electric original, unexpected, inventive thinking resistant to the status quo, seeking breakthroughs in original ideas, that energy is intimately tied to this kind of upheaval and transformation of purpose or ego or paternal karma and so forth, so let us watch for what shocking news or information arises and participates in the Sun-Pluto dynamic.
Now, because so many people have asked me to say something about, I mean, literally, I feel like I've gotten probably 100 requests through YouTube and social media, people have been asking for me to say something about the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump. So here's what I'll say: I'm just going to keep it really simple because this channel is not dedicated to politics. It is dedicated to an unpacking of mundane astrology in relation to your personal lives, not to your personal lives. I don't condemn political astrology, but I also don't practice it.
So what I'll say is this: with respect to the transit of Mars-Uranus, which was present at the time of the assassination attempt, a very fitting, very fitting signature for an erratic, sudden, defiant act of violence, someone trying to overthrow or shift the political landscape instantly through an act of violence. I don't ever think that any of us should take justice into our own hands, right? I have this belief that the universe will sort things out. And we should be very careful not to try and do that ourselves.
At the same time, I find myself, like many of you, in that complex moral dilemma where it's like, well, sudden, sometimes you have to fight for what's right, and everything like that. And what I've noticed in social media, you know, has been kind of like this meta-level of conversation about justice and violence and all of that, and I have, I honestly, I have no interest in trying to unpack all of that, okay. I just all I can say is that I don't condone trying to kill people, you know, regardless of how I feel about someone's politics, so, but what was happening in his chart that I think is interesting is that he has a about a 26 degree Mars in Leo. I take his 29 Leo rising chart, which is a whole sign.
So, in other words, he has a late Leo rising with Mars conjoined within three degrees of the ascendant. That's a very physical place. That is a place, I know, because I've just had Mars Uranus, on my ascendant, at a massive tree, fall down and fall about 10 yards short of massively harming our house during the middle of the night. And that was like, whoa, wow, that's Mars, Uranus, and Taurus striking down a massive tree. I mean, serious damage would have been done to our home, missed by 10 yards hit smashing into our house. So, as someone who knows how physically I Mars-Uranus, I also accidentally fell down the stairs.
So, thankfully, it was okay. I had a series of migraines as Mars and Uranus moved over my ascendant, so, like, it's a very physical place point, and when he has Mars on his ascendant, and then he's getting the Mars Uranus conjunction in Taurus, right on his midheaven. But ish, a very public place, and then squaring his Mars on the ascendant. That's where you see in Astro speak; that's where you see a public act of violence that threatens his life or his health. So that's all I'm going to say about it.
People asked me for some context, and that's it. Beyond that, like I think that the conversations about violence and revolution and politics and justice and the whole that whole thing that I've been observing on social media, I all I can say is that on an archetypal level, that's the kind of stuff people talk about when Mars and Uranus are conjoined. So I will leave it there.
I hope that that satisfies the curiosity that a lot of you had about that event. There are plenty of great astrologers out there breaking down the transits. And in discussing the placements in the chart and stuff like that, I just wanted to provide you the natal context for how that transit showed up in his chart. And we're coming into election season. I just want to say this, too: We're coming into election season. And this is typically a time of year in my history of doing this during election seasons. Where people get really, really volatile. And understandably, there's a lot on the line; people feel very strongly about their beliefs, and it's a consequential election, you know, and so on and so forth.
But my prayer and, I guess, my ask for this audience is to respect each other's humanity and dignity and to treat each other. As you know, each of us would like to be treated. As someone who does not dedicate this channel to politics, one of the things that I'm going to be very careful about in the next four or five months is the election concern in the United States. As one of my spiritual teachers said, at least for my channel, the main thing is to keep the main thing, the main thing. And, for me, the main thing is how can we, each of us individually using astrology, grow wiser, more compassionate, more patient, more peaceful, kinder? How can we grow in virtue? How can we grow in love? The focus on this channel is in the belief that that's my contribution and that if each of us grows a little bit more in our capacity to love and to see the sacredness of the universe that we live in and to trust, that each of us is a divine part of the whole, that that individual transformation can spread out and lead to positive things in other spaces in the world. That's my focus. All I ask is that people respect that and respect what this channel was dedicated to. And if you're looking for something more than that, to find it, and to find the places that nourish you or feed your interests, and to not insist or force this channel, this audience to be something that it doesn't it isn't. It's not intended to be.
So anyway, just wanted to say that because after this recent event, I've also been getting a lot of emails that have been very coercive, just to be completely honest course of meaning, like, you better do this, you ought to talk about this, what's your problem? Why aren't you going to have a big public, you know, a public unpacking of all of this? Please just respect that. That's not my focus, you know; I have a different focus. These are the gifts that I bring; I hope that they're good for you. And I have to. I can only be what I am, and I can only offer what really feels right to me.
So, on that note, yeah, I hope you guys are doing okay today on this big Sun-Pluto day. And that this talk helps you to personally identify and navigate the complexities and and the beauty of life that's unfolding right now. Alright, that's it. Hope you guys having a good one. Bye.
