Hey, everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology. Happy Friday, everybody. Today, we're going to take a look at Venus in Libra, making a trine to Jupiter in Gemini. This airy connection between the benefics is generally thought of by most traditional astrologers as auspicious. We'll talk about why that is the case and what you can watch for, and I'll give you a few tips on how you may interpret this in your birth chart as well. So that's our goal for this that's our goal for this episode.

If you go to the live talks page on the website, you will find that my next talk, Venus's 12 Love Languages: Falling in Love through the Zodiac, happens Thursday night, September 19; I will be giving this talk through a webinar.
If you can't attend live, you get the recording. We're going to be looking at the karma of Venus through each of the 12 signs and the kind of story that Venus tells about love, sex, and relationships in our lives through the sign placement.
So this is going to be a great chance to learn more about that. I hope to see some of you there. And if you have any questions about anything you find on our website, feel free to email us at info@nightlightastrology.com.
Okay, on that note, let us switch over to the real-time clock, and let's take a look at this trine that is forming. So today, Friday, September 13. I don't know if you're a superstitious person, if you're into Friday the 13th stuff or not, I'm not personally, but knock on wood.
So anyway, Venus is trining Jupiter, and we can see that this is an airy connection. Venus is in her own domicile. And you know what? Let's do this for fun. I didn't do this in advance, so we'll see where this goes. But I'm going to see where the terms are laid out. Let's go to the Egyptian terms. Here we go. So the trine is forming at the 20th degree of Libra in Gemini, and it looks like we've got here we go. I'm gonna make this connection a little bit more obvious.
Sorry, guys, I am okay. There we go. So here's the trine coming in by Sunday. So it'll be building over the weekend. So you will notice the effects of what we're going to talk about today between now and Sunday, fading on Monday and Tuesday of next week. So that takes us all the way through about September 17, and you'll really be feeling this. This is coming through right just prior to the full moon's Lunar Eclipse. So that lunar eclipse takes place just a little bit after we get here, September 17. They're fading from their three-degree range of separation by Tuesday, and the eclipse is coming through.
So it's an interesting connection to just precede an eclipse and maybe points toward some beneficial aspects of the eclipse that we might not otherwise see. Because when we think of eclipses, we often think of portals of transformation that can be a little intense, so it's nice to have this benefic connection, both benefics, the greater benefic and lesser benefic.
They weren't called greater or lesser because one was thought of as better or worse. Had to do with their speed. Greater would mean heavier and slower in movement. Lesser would mean faster. So Venus is faster, Jupiter slower. The trine is of the nature of Jupiter. And the reason for that is kind of interesting. If you think about the Thema Mundi, which is an ancient kind of teaching chart, a legendary chart of the birth chart of the cosmos that ancient astrologers use as a kind of rhetorical teaching device. In that chart, you go from cancer to the left-hand side of cancer, and you go to the first trine, where you get to the whole sign house of Pisces. If you go from Leo, and you go to the right-hand side of Leo.
So, the masculine and feminine directions are the signs of the luminaries; the first trine from the sign of the sun to the right is Sagittarius. These two trines move into the signs of Jupiter, and so the trine was said to be of the nature of Jupiter. And so, for that reason, we have two benefics that are generally thought of as fortunate, connecting in an aspect that was also thought of as fortunate. Another little clue that we have as to what this kind of connection might mean comes from the meaning that Jupiter had in relation to the houses.
One of the houses was called The Joy of Jupiter, and that was the 11th house. So let me just back this up a touch, and let's look at what happens here in the 11th house. In the 11th house, what's happening in the house is waiting, by virtue of the diurnal motion, to rise to the top of the chart next, so everything in the 11th house is thought of as something that, in time, will rise in prominence, and it will do so through the support of the topics that the 11th house is associated with. The number one amongst them is allies and beneficial people.
So, in modern astrology, we tend to think of the 11th house as groups of people, but in ancient astrology, it was best to think of the 11th in terms of allies, benefactors, colleagues, and people that you shared similar dreams and aspirations or goals with who could become like beneficial allies with that you could, you could become friends with them, essentially. And then there is a sense of it being a place that belongs to groups of people, but usually, there's a connotation of these people being beneficial, and they're off they're having a kind of resource that the native will find beneficial for the sake of achieving their aspirations.
So you often find that 11th house people, like if you have a lot of planets in the 11th house, and it depends on which planets they are and their dignities and aspects and stuff like that, but planets in the 11th house will often do well in life because they meet or run into powerful people or organizations or groups or allies or friends or benefics who play an important role in the development of your dreams and skills and ambitions and so forth.
I think, for example, a great example of this would be Martin Luther King, Jr, whose chart is rectified, but his ascendant ruler is an exalted Venus in the 11th house, and so one of the things that was seriously important for the development of his success as an activist was the amount of beneficial political and social connections that he was able to make throughout his life that aided in his success as a civil rights leader. That's a beautiful part of his story. The 11th house was also called the House of Dreams and Wishes. I can't help but notice that Martin Luther King, Jr's, you know, great speech was, I have a dream.
How's that for an exalted Venus in pisces in the 11th house of dreams, wishes, and aspirations? The 11th house is associated with dreams and aspirations, but also anything that is conducive to realizing those dreams, and usually that has a social connotation in the 11th house of being about people. Now, what's really interesting is that this was called The Joy of Jupiter.
And so when we think about trines, the nature of the trine is tied intimately in ancient astrology to an entire dignity class called triplicities. Triplicity rulers are specific rulers that exist for all of the signs by day or by night. I won't get into that now, but the point is that triplicity rulers are often utilized in order to understand where we might find greater communal or social support from allies, groups, benefics, etc.
And so there is this ancient tie between triplicities and Jupiter and the 11th house and the Trine aspect and the sense of finding people or resources or aid or colleagues or friends or community that is both inspirational and supportive. So all of that is to say that when we have a Trine from Jupiter with Jupiter, and then we have the other planet, Venus, and they're both in air signs, now we're starting to see the emergence of a pattern.
So, that pattern, for example, may also utilize the element of air. To build the delineation here, we can use the element of air. Air was one of the broadest things that was said about air by ancient astrologers, as it referred to the social realm of human beings, human communication, human ideas and thoughts, and the kind of commerce of ideas and thoughts and social exchange. These were called, sometimes, humane signs.
So you have a sense of of trine between two planets and air signs, And a heavy emphasis on Jupiter through both the nature of the trine and the trine to Jupiter itself, suggesting that there will be an exchange of ideas and beneficial social connections between people present.
Now, the thing that doubles down on this delineation and amplifies it is Venus. Venus herself was called the goddess of good fortune. She was the plant in the house, excuse me. She was associated with Venus, who was the fifth house, sort of placing Venus in the fifth here. And the fifth was intimately tied to the fourth house, which was called the resting place.
The resting place is in Indian astrology associated with MOOC shows, which means liberation from the world, like when you go home at night to your bedroom, your house, your apartment, your condo, whatever it is you rest, you release from the world, like moksha. You release from the body, as in enlightenment, or moksha, as in disentanglement from karma. It's kind of a miniature version of that.
When we go home every night, we are released from the troubles of the day, the troubles of the world. So the fifth house as a house that was adjacent to the fourth and supportive of it, in part of its nature, was to aid and assist in the development of moksha, which is why the fifth is associated with pleasure and relaxation and enjoyment and sensuality because these are things that usually accompany rest and relaxation.
You go home in the evening, you make love, you go home in the evening, you watch Netflix, you know you go home in the evening, maybe you play an instrument, or you go out to eat with friends. However, the point is that creative fulfillment, sensual enjoyment, and relational fulfillment and enjoyment are things that aid and assist in the development of the resting place. So that's a big part of the meaning of the fifth house. This was why it was called The Joy of Venus. The fifth house was now Venus therefore aiding and assisting in the enjoyment of life.
Now, in Libra, Venus has a pretty high level of sophistication, and she's sophisticated and refined. She's elegant, poised, and very intelligent. So we have, this is a very polished Venus. This is not like the world's most hedonistic Venus, right? Like, not as, like, sensual and like, let me stuff my face with pizza or pie.
Like Venus and Taurus. No, Venus and Taurus are very lovely and refined, too, but Venus and Taurus are much more earthy, is what I'm saying. Sorry. Anyway, so Venus and Libra. Venus and Libra suggest a level of social sophistication and refinement, but she's also interested in pleasure and creative fulfillment.
She's very social. Now she's connecting with Jupiter, this planet that suggests beneficial social contacts and exchange in the sign of Gemini, which can suggest a multiplicity or a kind of busyness. And all of a sudden, we get this beautiful delineation of very beneficial, enjoyable, sophisticated, and multiple contacts with people or ideas, or we get the idea of the kind of like a bustling workshop of people and ideas and beneficial connections that could sweep by in a matter of a couple of days.
And so from that, maybe we draw one or two things that are really nice and useful, but still, it's sort of like if you've ever been to a professional conference in an in your field, whatever your field is if you have one, like if I go to an astrology conference, I often find that it looks like this aspect. I meet lots of people. I make lots of connections. I get lots of ideas. I get lots of inspiration. I feel fulfilled creatively and socially. There's a feeling of harmonyand it's beautiful. And there are a lot of smart people like me who I always meet, you know, at astrology conferences. Know a lot of astrology, and I learn a lot, right? And so you meet diligent students and stuff like that. That's the kind of vibe that I get from this transit overall.
We have socially refined Libra coming in with bustling, busy, and multiple Jupiter in Gemini, which might be filled with a lot of ideas. The only thing I could see here being a little bit of an issue between Libra and Gemini in this sense is that Libra wants things a little bit more organized, focused, and clearly delineated. Boundaries are a big part of Libra because this Libra is also the exaltation of Saturn, um, Gemini, thoroughly mercurial, right? And yet, look at where the rulers are. Venus is in our own domicile. And we have mercury, the host of Jupiter, with an aspect to Jupiter in its domicile and exaltation of Virgo.
So we have well-resourced benefics right now, in other words, and they're able to provide, I think, skills, tools, people, and like, pleasant, uplifting, exciting, inspiring exchanges. So I feel like this is one of the more benefic transits of the year. I had this circled at the beginning of the year; when I do all of my research for the year ahead, I usually have a few that I'm like; that one looks really nice now.
There are other things swimming in the air that make this a little challenging. For example, we have a lunar eclipse following closely on the heels of this. This connection may be, although this looks like a very beneficial aspect, this aspect could facilitate some moments of weightier decision-making or something more serious that follows immediately on the heels of this. Since it's like, look, how many times have you been excited by something? Let me turn this off. Now, how many times you've been excited by something or found beneficial people or ideas or exchanges only to realize that the implications lead you immediately into some heavy decisions? It could be something like that, given that the lunar eclipse is following so closely on the heels of this connection.
But I don't think that's a killjoy. I feel like, you know, good things are sometimes followed by important choices or crossroads that we find ourselves at because new resources, new people, new ideas, new skills, a new and inspired sense of what is possible will often lead to a more serious reckoning with what is or what needs to change for this opening to, you know, come through this the benefits of this opening to be received. So the other thing that I think is interesting about this is that I like looking at the term rulers, and I haven't done this for a little while on the channel. I think it's fascinating that Venus is in the bound of Jupiter. She's in her own domicile, so she's really strong, but she's bound by Jupiter, so she also feels like she has to give something to Jupiter. She has to provide something for Jupiter from Jupiter.
Okay, so I think this is also about some sense of what we feel is fair or just that we should give or provide or a way in which we might have to acquiesce. And we know, like, you know what, this is going to be good for me, but I do need to serve the needs of this or that. I could see that happening because when you have a planet in the bound of another planet, it is bound or obligated to that planet in some way. So this trine suggests that Venus is also giving something that she might feel somewhat bound or obligated to give to Jupiter. That's interesting. That's really fascinating. For example, if you were to find this in, you know, in like, let's say you had, let's just do an, I'll just do an example here. This will be fun.
\All right, let me throw up the chart. All right, let's just wheel this around a little bit, and let's make it simple. Let's give a simple example. All right, so let's say that your Venus is in your seventh house, trining Jupiter in the third. Now, let's say you're married, and let's say you have a sibling who has multiple kids. Now I'm just kind of making up an example that I could see actually happening, right?
So this might mean that, let's say, your husband or your wife is going to do something with their brother or their sister, or your brother or your sister and their kids. And there's a sense of, yeah, I really have to do this, or I really ought to do this, but it'll be a good thing to do. I'll bring my kids with their kids, the cousins will get together, or I'm going to go and babysit so they can get out and, you know, I should do this because they've done some things for me.
So the sense of maybe doing something that it's a good thing to do, but there's some sense of karmic obligation, just a subtle hint of it that could be there as well, a sense of, like, let's make sure that this is right. Okay. So the other thing that I would call to our call to our attention here with the bound ruler is that Jupiter, in the meantime, is in the bound of Mars.
This is why I made up that example: Mars, in turn, is in its fall in cancer. So, this exchange, could we see it happening with some subtle pressure to make sure that we don't deepen existing divides or conflicts within the Homer family? Are we giving an exchanging in order to make sure, like, is there a little bit of emotional coercion behind the surface, potentially? And you see, we can get there by just looking at the bound rulers. Venus feels bound to Jupiter. Jupiter is bound to Mars. Mars is in its fall in cancer, in its own bound, so Mars is demanding something in cancer. It's a little heated, emotionally, which could subtly be informing the beneficial exchange between Venus and Jupiter. See how that works.
So bound rulers can give us a lot of insight into the little subtleties and nuances of how a larger dynamic may be playing out on subtler levels. Anyway, I would watch for this exchange to be mostly beneficial, maybe fueled by a little bit of a sense of obligation, maybe a little sense that if I don't do this, things could get worse if I, if we don't create some kind of harmonious exchange, you know, I might feel bad, or I might not be doing the right thing, or maybe I feel a little bit coerced or pressured to do something. But you know what? This is a good thing to do. There's a diplomatic solution to this. So watch for those subtle currents. If you don't notice them, that's also fine. A few tips on how to read this in your own chart, look at the whole sign houses of Gemini and Libra. Look at the two places as connected, right? So look at that whole sign house, the topic of Libra. Look at the whole sign house topic of Gemini.
If you wanted, you could throw in the whole sign house of cancer for a little bit of where that emotional pressure might be coming from, which I just talked about, but primarily look at those two airy houses by whole sign in your chart. Look at the topics and see how they might be connected. If you don't know how to do that, that's okay for now. Just listen to the major delineations that we've given and go from there.
All right. That is it for today. I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend.
