The Moon has just entered Capricorn and will make a sextile to Neptune and then trine to Jupiter before conjoining Pluto and squaring Mercury in the next 24 hours.
Let’s take a look at the variety of current transits and how they might show up. A simple list for today because we’re heading out of town for a yoga teacher training retreat this morning. Our last out of town trip before the baby comes!
With Mars about to enter Virgo and then moving toward the conjunction of Jupiter, we should see an increased level of productivity, organization, and something like a military feeling of mobilization, effort, and result seeking. Jupiter in the sign of his detriment might make the results somewhat less beneficial than we’re imagining, but it could also mean that small gain after small gain leads to something like an overall positive effect in the upcoming month.
In the meantime, Venus is finally starting to pick up real speed again in Leo, moving back through all of the degrees from this Summer’s retrograde. She will eventually catch Mars in the sign of Virgo again, though at that time she will be in the sign of her fall, and the story of Mars/Venus union will look much different than it did in the sign of Leo (more on that later).
Maybe the biggest thing happening right now is Mercury’s retrograde toward stationing Pluto. This tight square has an ominous quality that feels something like the deciding vote of the supreme court, the filibuster that closes the government, the judgment of the soul in the afterlife, the disclosure or leak of information that turns the tide, the soul contract’s expiration date, the negotiation that levels the playing field or rights a wrong, or the message or messenger delivering the decree of the gods.
Whatever appears or seems unfair right now, and whatever appears like good luck or fortune..it’s important that we not get attached, smug, whiny or proud about it. The total period of this retrograde will involve repeated squares from Mercury to Pluto, and these squares will likely tilt the scales back and forth a few times before all is said and done.
Examining our sense of justice, fairness, and morality will be an important part of the week ahead, especially as next weekend we reach the lunar eclipse (Full Moon).
A great symbol of the week ahead here in the US features the Pope visiting the nation’s capital. Whatever he has to say, we should expect it will play on our sense of ethics and moral responsibility in the world. It wouldn’t be surprising if he also makes a call for deeper accountability or spiritual self reflection in our government or culture generally. While many people are rightly critical of world leaders like the Pope, this may also be a week where the subject of hypocrisy comes into many of our conversations. The important thing is for us to recognize the degree to which any political or belief based conversations are implicating us in our own life dramas this week.
Prayer: The high priests and Hades, the messengers and judges, gathering together in the halls of truth…this week we pray for insight and discernment
