The New Moon in Leo is applying to conjoin Venus in Leo today. Meanwhile, Mars has entered Sagittarius and is applying to conjoin Saturn while host Jupiter is in a superior square to Mars and Saturn from Virgo.
A few astrological dynamics to pay attention to:
* Mars heats and invigorates the heavy/cold/dryness of Saturn, perhaps activating a more constructive, action oriented Saturn…think for example of various household conservatives perhaps starting to stand up and speak out against Trump…Mars may invigorate and move to constructive action the Saturnine rules, structures, and principles that are normally a little more extreme or heavy
* On the other hand, Saturn cools or disciplines and structures the heat and impulse of Mars, perhaps creating a disciplined and focused but also action oriented approach to something (think of a principled, structured, and fiercely passionate force being put into motion)
* Both Mars and Saturn are in a Jupiter ruled sign, which means they are influenced by, or we might say “interested in” Jupiter things…politics, religion, philosophy, faith, theology, the clergy, a vision of the future, public office, public officials, etc.
* Jupiter in Virgo is providing support for Mars and Saturn, but the support may have more to do with bolstering what Mars and Saturn are opposing than anything else. Jupiter is in a Mercury ruled sign, which points to a season of contesting ideals and visions for the future, and the square to Mars and Saturn bolsters this opposition.
Over the next few weeks, I will not be surprised to see more unity out there in terms of what people are “against” or what we each perceive ourselves to be fighting “against” as much as anything we are for…
In our personal lives, the opportunity for clarifying our goals and next steps is great right now, but for the moment it may happen first and foremost by getting clear about what we “cannot” or “will not” tolerate…in terms of ourselves, our own behaviors or practices, our lifestyle, our relationships, our work and values, etc.
I did an I Ching reading for the Mars/Saturn dynamic as well as the supporting square from Jupiter and I got this movement in response:
Estrangement leads to Nourishment
In estrangement we see people working at cross purposes and we see the distancing of superior people from inferior people. The changing line reads, “resolved to stand alone in his beliefs if he must, he is soon joined by a kindred spirit.” Then in Nourishment we see the idea of what we put into our minds/bodies and what comes out of it being of the utmost importance. The hexagram frequently refers to words and watching what comes out of our mouths to make sure it is pure and nourishing the right things (for instance cursing all the time versus speaking compassionately), but in this context the hexagram probably means people distancing themselves from inferior forces and then joining together to address or speak out against them rather than continuing to support them.
My first impression of the sequence was that we might see more big name conservatives coming out against Trump in the weeks ahead, but other than this, the sequence clearly supports the Mars/Saturn and Jupiter notion of coming together over what is opposed.
Prayer: Teach us to understand where our words come from, and why. Help us to distance ourselves from the paranoia of inferior impulses, and instead guide us back to the healing place, the place where we stand our common ground.
