Happy Sunday everyone! It’s just past full moon, and the Moon is in Leo about to square Mars and then trine Saturn and Uranus.
The first aspect of today is difficult. The Moon/Mars connections generally involve themes of aggravation, contention, hostility, inflammation, competition, or hard work. Watch your temper, watch reactiveness, pride and ego struggles, vindictiveness or “I told you so.” This aspect will move through quickly, but it can also involve small injuries or accidents, or a certain amount of physical or bodily pain. On a positive note, the Moon/Mars square can sometimes indicate a good work out, building up a good sweat, cooking up something good, or a positive transformation to the body.
After the Moon/Mars square the Moon will trine Saturn in Sagittarius. Moon/Saturn trines can bring out some of the more positive Saturnine qualities: hard work, focus, organization, seriousness, setting healthy boundaries or limitations, completing tasks or projects, or taking the mature stance on something. With the Moon in Leo we might add in the elements of generosity, pride, warmth, bigness and brightness to the mix and see some hard working, serious, but generous attitudes later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Venus has entered Capricorn. When Venus changes signs I like to watch for changes to what I’m watching or reading, what I’m listening to or attracted to artistically. I pay attention to the aesthetic mood of my environment and also the tone of relationship exchanges. With Venus in Capricorn, the goddess is in the house of Saturn, and so we can look to Saturn to understand what some of her motivations might be about. Saturn in Sagittarius tells us that our relationships might become focused on beliefs, freedom, the pursuit of truth or knowledge, as well as the hard work or commitment of our philosophical values or ideas. Venus in Saturn’s sign might also fall in love with seriousness, respect, merit, achievement or reputation, as well as age, experience, conservative values, and commitment. See if you can spot any of these themes showing up through Venus related things. Sometime’s it’s especially pronounced right as a planet enters a new sign. For example, right as Venus changed signs I have been craving old styles of music, especially old vintage Jazz music!
Last but not least the Mercury/Pluto dynamic is still strongly featured. Watch for intense communication dynamics, technology melt downs, revelations or the release of powerful/unseen/unconscious information, ideas, or messages. And remember that this transit has a ways to go as Mercury will station, turn direct, and then cross over Pluto exactly once more, all within a degree of being exact already.
Prayer: Thank you for this first Full Moon of the new year. Thank you for our life, our health, our sanity, our friends, our lovers, and our family.

Finally the Moon will trine Uranus later today as well. This means a brief but healthy dose of the unexpected, unpredictable, s hocking, awakening, and rebellious coming through later in the day. Watch especially for dramatic flares of personality, star power, and performance with the Moon in Leo.
