Here’s a few things to watch for:
* As Mercury retrograde is taking place in the mix of the last Saturn/Neptune square, you might be noticing that you can see into the true nature of things more than usual. The veil is thin, and somehow things are more transparent than normal. You may find yourself in situations in which you can see something coming miles before others around you, or you might suddenly feel exposed because your own ulterior motives are more obvious and less hidden to others than you realized. You may feel a clear sense of guidance or direction in a tricky situation…a rare moment of lucidity where you suddenly have crystal clear insight into the flow of the Tao or the energetic or karmic dynamics of something happening around you.
There is a temptation in spaces like these to respond to the transparency or lucidity of the moment with urgency and reactive decisions. We may feel naked and wish to cover something up, or we might feel as though things are so clear and obvious that an immediate decision should be made about something. But it’s important to remember that real lucidity, real truth, real understanding, is accompanied by peace, patience, and mindfulness.
It’s a good time to breathe and say to ourselves, “I don’t need to act on this right this moment, no matter how sure or right I feel about things. It’s the middle of eclipse season. Mercury is retrograde. Saturn and Neptune are almost exactly square again. I will let more things pass, and more things pass. I will watch and wait and see what this lucidity does next.”
Clear moments of thinking that are followed by rapid reactions or decisions can obviously be inspired and exciting…but given the current astrology it’s probably a smart move to wait and watch…because even crystal clear lucidity can be nothing more than a distraction…especially when it comes attached to words like, “You’re absolutely right about this, so go do XYZ right now! Go!”
* Saturn and Neptune together can create the powerful illusion of self-justified needs and desires. The combination of rigidity and poor me thinking may combine to say something like, “I deserve this,” or “I’m absolutely right about this, or I’ve earned this, and anybody who looks at the facts will see that I’m justified in taking this action.” Saturn/Neptune evokes both a kind of religiously flavored self-righteousness, as well as the emphasis on what is due to one or what one is owed or where and how one has been wronged and therefore what one should get in exchange.
On the other hand, Saturn/Neptune also reflects the denial or rejection of the divine as well as the cracks and crumbles in the walls of our denial that occur as a variety of supernatural events seep through. Often these influxes of spirit are perceived as malefic or evil and they inspire fear or even more self pity, “I’ve got bad luck! This doesn’t have anything to do with me or my decision. It’s just bad luck.”
However, the choice to see an influx of the divine force in terms of bad luck is simply the perpetuation of the same initial denial and self righteousness, which in turn continues to generate more influxes perceived superstitiously. If we humble ourselves and take the time to learn and listen from the influxes of the divine, then our barriers to the divine will dissolve and we will learn to see God in everything. If we go on feeling sorry for ourselves and making demands of the situation, or making ourselves a victim of bad luck, then the process builds within us a wobbly kneed superstition in the place of a firm standing faith.
Prayer: Teach us the confidence of faith, which allows us to watch peacefully as our rightness comes and goes.
