The Moon is in Gemini today, applying to sextiles of Venus and Jupiter by this evening. Meanwhile the Moon’s host, Mercury, is very strongly situated in Virgo, Mars has finally left its fall in Cancer and moved into Leo, and Jupiter is about to leave Leo after a full year in the sign of the Lion and will be entering Virgo by tomorrow.
Like yesterday today’s astrology favors organization, study, administrative work, purity and cleanliness, simplicity, detail or craft oriented work, communication, translation, and social exploration or curiosity generally speaking. The Moon is in Mercury’s sign and Mercury is very strong in Virgo. Making lists, organizing a closet, editing a paper, or answering emails…good things will likely come in good time from efficient and clear use of time and resources right now.
In the meantime, Mars has just entered Leo after a very long and arduous stay in Cancer. We may now find that Mars type things are happening a little easier for the first time in a while. This may include: the use of will, force, aggression, speed, and decisive action. Power, motivation, executive command, courage, and risk taking. As well as desire, muscle, bravery, and handling things strongly and directly. For the past month or so all of these subjects may have felt more difficult..as though making strong actions led to dispersion, indecision, or embarrassment, or as though the environment was somehow too fragile to hold strong choices or actions. Now that Mars is in a fiery sign and with his ruler, the Sun, there is much better support for all of what Mars signifies when he’s at his best.
Looking at Jupiter we’ve also got an interesting picture in the sky right now. Jupiter is about to enter Virgo, one of the two signs of Jupiter’s detriment, but right as it leaves Leo it will also conjoin fixed star Regulus, the heart of the lion, at the opening of Virgo. This should provide us with some interesting but mixed images over the next week or so. The royal/lion themes will continue, especially with Mars now in Leo, but we should start to see new themes cropping up relative to everything that Jupiter naturally signifies. For example, if Jupiter symbolizes growth, expansion, faith, and confidence, then as he enters the contractive, puritanical, modest, and meticulous earth sign of Virgo we might expect to see growth work more strictly related to the everyday matters of life. Growth might be found in the details, the small things, or the proverbial chopping of wood and carrying of water. For all intents and purposes this isn’t Jupiter’s strong suit, yet if we can hold the image of a joyous monk dutifully tending a garden under strenuous circumstances, whistling while he works, we will likely find that the next year is just as expansive as any other. Since this new year of Jupiter in Virgo begins with the heart of the lion (Regulus) emphasized, we may find that we are suddenly taking a great deal of pride or dignity in the small things…we may find a hidden royalty within modesty, quietism, or detail work. Slow might be the new fast, and little may be the new big…
The hard work with Jupiter entering his detriment in Virgo will be accepting a different pace…acknowledging the little things that come before the big ones, and dealing with unnecessary doubt or fussiness that acts as both roadblock and teacher on the way to greatness.
However…if you’re someone who can see the joy in going down and in before going up and out, then you’re likely going to find this next year surprisingly exciting for all the small talk surrounding Jupiter in Virgo.
Prayer: It’s now what we do but how we do it…help us to start to see at this small level of things..the grand design.
