What does it mean to be of two minds about something? Are you one of those people who adjusts your take on anything and everything depending on who you’re with or how the situation might benefit yourself or others? Is this charity or trickery, flexibility or deception? With the Moon in Gemini applying to Neptune one thing that comes to mind for today’s astrology is the idea of the fine line between deception and flexibility, open mindedness and a not so healthy ambivalence…especially within relationships to people we are friends or allies with in some larger sense. Particularly when we stand to gain or lose something depending on how we stand or commit to something philosophically, intellectually, etc. How much flexibility is enough and how much ends up being sneakery and opportunism?
Similarly, we might not realize the extent to which someone is just entertaining us or pretending to be passionate or excited about the same things. How do we analyze or discriminate between real friends or allies and those who simply want something from us for their own selfish, perhaps somewhat hidden, agenda?
In the background of all of this, or perhaps in the foreground, stands the stirrings of a larger philosophical problem that is starting to raise up again. We might have thought we had come to some kind of conclusion intellectually, spiritually, morally, or philosophically in the recent past, but each time the Moon spins through one of the mutable signs it’s likely that the process of our convictions and beliefs will continue to unfold in new and interesting ways…potentially poking holes in our certainty, uncovering new ideas or insights previously unrecognized, or maybe exposing a certain amount of fraud in our actions compared to our beliefs.
Remember that the Saturn/Neptune square has a lot to do with competing paradigms about the nature of life and reality itself. If we’re not at a loss for words, not finding ourselves doubling back into uncertainty, or not questioning our most basic assumptions, we’re likely to experience these transits in a more devastating way. This is something I’ve observed in the lives of my clients during this transit so far. Best advice: be an active participant in the process of changing views and ideas. Remember the value of uncertainty, but don’t use it as a secret weapon for personal gain or selfish motivations.
Prayer: Help us to be reflective, of two minds but not two wills, moving along the way.
