Hey everyone, this is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology, and today, we are going to take a look at Mercury's upcoming square to Neptune. Mercury is in the sign of Sagittarius, the later degrees moving into a square with Neptune in Pisces. This square is going to come toward the very end of the weekend. But if we waited till Monday, it would already be passed because it's happening early Monday morning. I figured since this will be applying, you'll really be feeling it as the weekend comes through. Let's talk about it here on Friday.
By the way, next week, we'll be looking at the full moon, and we'll also be looking at Venus's conjunction with the south node of the moon. Then, we'll be working through the astrology of December and horoscopes for December. So, a big week ahead next week, too. But that is our agenda for today; we're going to talk about Mercury square to Neptune and what you might expect; we're going to take a look at a few notes from Renn Butler, which I will be adding my own commentary to which you guys know I like to do once in a while I've also got a little bit of taro symbolism and I-Ching symbolism that I'm going to be bringing in to discuss the transit with at the same time. So that's our agenda for today.
Before we get into it, don't forget to like and subscribe share your comments and reflections. You guys know that when you take a minute to like subscribe, especially if you're new to the channel you watch regularly. It really helps the channel to grow, helps the algorithm pick up on us, and gets the word out there about this community. You can find a transcript of any of my daily talks on the website nightlightastrology.com.
Today, we're also on day five of our 10th annual Kickstarter campaign. So, for the last 40 days of every year, I go into preparation mode for the entire year ahead; I do all of my planning and start to write out my game plan for what I'm going to be covering on the channel in the year ahead kind of a period of prayer and reflection for me too. What have I learned in the past year? What do I want to do a little bit differently, or what kinds of series do I want to create in the year ahead.
During this time, I asked that people in the audience who enjoy this free content year-round consider pitching in and supporting the channel. When you do so, you can hop over to the Kickstarter page by looking at the link. The link is in the comment section, as well as the description of this video. So, if you go, you'll find it pinned at the top or in the description you can hop on over this is just a preview page that I have up right now. At the time of this recording, we are about five days in.
Our goal this year is 1777 backers by New Year's, so we go all the way until New Year's Eve, which is the final day. When you go over and donate, you can choose a variety of rewards. Here are some of the rewards that we offer. We have an astrology of 2024 calendar that you can use to follow along with all the transits. We're tracking on this channel; we have the astrology of 2024 video, which is the only place that I release all of my forecasting for the major Astrology of the year ahead. Alex is with me doing that video this year. Well, that's a fun one, and then you can see there's a year ahead horoscope reading so you can pick a reading for your sun or rising sign. Alex and I have also made 12 different videos looking at the major Astrology of the year ahead.
You get to pick which one you want, your sun or rising sign. That's a cool reward when you donate and support the channel. You can also pick up a copy of my book The Oracle Speaks, which is being released a couple one chapter at a time with audio and text files available for you to download or listen to, and yeah, I'm really excited about that new book, so you can check that out before it comes out in print edition, you can be following along with the audio or text chapters being released one at a time. We're two chapters into that right now, by the way.
The next series is all of the master classes from 2023. This is eight to 10 hours worth of content that I have not released anywhere else except for last year's masterclass series, the mysteries of the moon cycle, the cycles of Venus and Mercury, the Zen and the Art of zodiacal releasing, which is an ancient timing technique, unlocking temperament and personality, which is another great series that we did.
Then you can move down, and you can pick three horary questions if you want. That's a great discount on my horary readings, and get three of them to use anytime during 2024. There's a mini reading where I take a look at your birth chart, and I personally record for you what I think the biggest transit of your year is and tell you about it. Then, you can pick up the masterclass bundle from last year.
You could also pick up Roots and Spheres for next year or the masterclass series for 2024. That's our monthly Moon circle, where we plant, we pair planets with plants, and we work with them each month and have a discussion circle, and then at the bottom is the best deal that we offer which are our class bundles. You can pick up our online courses, any of our training programs, year one, year two, year three, or introduction to horary.
Those are all of our most immersive and advanced training programs that we offer through the Nightlight school, and you can pick those up and save a significant amount of money when you bundle them and saving the 1oth anniversary class special is the best; you could pick up that four class special and take all four of our years. Or, if you wanted to, you could take a couple of them and then gift one to someone else or gift a couple to someone else. So those are transferable. Those class bundles allow you to take a couple and gift a friend or something. So the class pass is going to take the savings per class up to almost 75% off. So it's a really great deal. It's a great way to save.
We really appreciate everyone who's pitched in so far; I just want to say a big thank you for supporting the channel. It's the end of the week here. So we're looking at it, and we've had a nice start to the week. When you support the Kickstarter, don't forget that what you're supporting, in addition to all the free content we produce year-round, is you're supporting the need-based tuition model and flexible pricing that we use when the Kickstarter goes off as it has for ten years now and it does well. That means that so many of the students who come to study astrology get to do so at the price point that works for them. That flexible model is built into the way we think about everything that we do at night light, and it's all enabled because the audience pitches in and supports the content on this channel, which then takes away our bottom line as a business and we just get to say, Hey, if you need a little help to make it happen, you can kind of name your price and we have that flexible pricing because of you guys helping.
Number two is my staff; we have a staff of people that make sure that this all goes out on time every day and that the three to four-hour process that I need to take to make this content every day, which includes meditation, prayer, reading, prep, writing my talk and then producing it to make sure it's spiritually substantive. There's a group of people in place that helped me so that everything else gets done and that there's a support process in place for the distribution of these talks. So you're supporting my staff and their livelihood as well and then myself and my family. Obviously, this is a big part of how I earn my living. So, if you enjoy the content, please consider contributing and help us reach our goal of 1777 backers by the New Year.
Okay, well, on that note, let's get into our talk for today; we're going to be looking at Mercury square to Neptune. I want to mention a couple of contextual factors that make this a little difficult. It's not just Mercury square to Neptune, although that's going to be our focus for today. But I want to because it's interesting that the I-Ching and Tarot that I brought in seem to kind of combine Mercury square to Neptune with a few other things that are going on in the sky.
So here is Mercury square to Neptune, which you can see as of Saturday, the 25th, is about two degrees off. If we back it up to here on Friday, the 24th. It's about four degrees off three degrees, maybe, and then it gets into the exact square Sunday into Monday. So you see, by Monday morning at 8:20am Central time, it has already passed. So that's why we're taking a look at it for the weekend, because it's a transit that is perfecting and as that application process happens, most people will be feeling it here over the next couple of days. By the time we get to Monday, it sort of might be too late to really get the most out of a talk like this.
So that's, that's why we're looking at it today. But there's something else in the sky that's going on that's equally important, and that is Venus with the south node of the moon. So Venus is coming through conjunction with the south node, and I use the mean node, but it's coming through that conjunction, and that's happening on Tuesday. So between Monday and Tuesday, we're going to look at that to start the week along with the full moon in Gemini next Monday, and then we've got horoscopes for December and the monthly overview for December and stuff like that. So there's a lot to be looking at next week in particular.
Now, what I want to do is, first and foremost, I just want to read to you what I was looking at this morning at Mercury-Neptune entry in Renn Butler's text, and I want to read some of what he says and then riff off from it today and then we're going to look at a single tarot card poll that I did for the Mercury Neptune square, and then an I-Ching reading so by the way, if you don't know I refer to this book quite a bit.
It is one of my favorite textbooks. In fact, you can see the bridges sort of falling apart because I use it so much. Mercury Neptune pairing in the red Butler book, the archetypal universe, astrological patterns in human culture, thought, emotion, and dreams. It's a wonderful archetypal cookbook, not like a generic kind of cookbook. Anyway, Mercury-Neptune. Here's what he says.
An open and peaceful mind, gifts of intuition and insight, flowing imagery and inspiration, and ability to perceive patterns and connections. A search for higher meaning. Also a tendency toward errors and misunderstandings, confusion and wishful thinking, issues around honesty and clarity. So, easily one of my favorite transits when it comes to looking at or discerning subtle patterns that I might not notice normally.
So one of the interesting things that I think defines the astrological lifestyle is you're aware of patterns in the sky, and those patterns in the sky, of course, are multi-valence and multi-dimensional. So there are so many different ways they can express themselves. But you may notice that once in a while, it feels like you're just flooded with the ability by the ability to perceive them in life, in your interactions, in your own thoughts, in the movie you're watching, or, you know, the interactions you're having with your kids or your spouse, or a loved one or a friend, or a co-worker and all of a sudden, their story becomes a reflection of what's going on in the sky.
If you track astrology, you know that one of the weirdest things is that it's really hard to say how or why you're suddenly able to do that, and other times, it's quieter. Have you ever noticed that you'll notice the patterns really brightly and vividly, and then there'll be periods stretches of time where you just don't notice them. That may have something to do with our practice and how busy we are. There are a lot of factors that might contribute to that. But one thing that we don't always think about is that certain transits themselves are reflective of the ability to perceive and the tendency to be flooded by the patterns. You know, these kinds of metaphors and archetypes that are flowing through everything, and mercury, Neptune is one such transit, Mercury net.
One of my favorite things about Mercury, Neptune is that when it comes around, like as a Hellenistic astrologer, I might be staring at a dignity scheme and looking for patterns and trying to understand the patterns of the Thema Mundi or, you know, the Egyptian terms or like the domicile and exultation scheme or something, and I'm just looking at it and which is very, by the way, it's very hermetic. The whole ancient language of astrology is like a coded mandala that, if you sit with it in reflection and meditation, will open up secrets to you.
It's absolutely amazing, and that's why I got hooked on it. But because it's so rewarding when you sit and contemplate and meditate and watch and look for patterns in the language itself, then all of a sudden, these little, sort of like the secrets of the language just suddenly pop. Like I've compared it often, I heard, I didn't, this isn't my original idea, but I heard it compared to this one, and I. So I think about it all the time. Now. It's like one of those things that you used to go to in the mall, and you'd look, and it just be a bunch of dots. But if you sort of stared at it in the right way, a giraffe would pop out. That's Mercury-Neptune as well, and I noticed that my ability to perceive those patterns as a student of astrology is heightened during Mercury-Neptune transits. In fact, I've noticed that, like many, many times over the past five or six years, when Mercury-Neptune comes around, and it squares, or opposition's, as it always does, then suddenly you have these moments of, I don't know, it's just like things are clear.
This is one of the things that I love that Renn Butler says:, a search for higher meaning and ability to perceive patterns and connections, flowing imagery and inspiration. I find that Mercury Neptune transits for those people who have any experience with psychedelics or altered states, even meditation, and you know, that those states open you up just a little bit more or a lot more in some cases, and you're able to see and understand connections that are there right in front of you, but that, you know, they just weren't super, they weren't bright enough to discern.
One of the things that I'll never forget is, you know, in the probably first couple of Ayahuasca ceremonies that I ever had, I noticed this, and it had never been a thing for me with previous psychedelic experiences, but I Wasco was potent enough to deliver this, which was that it didn't matter if my eyes were open, or my eyes were closed during the Ayahuasca experience, I was seeing exactly the same thing, and I know that sounds crazy, but it's true. It's like eyes closed; eyes open doesn't matter. The center of perception has changed to a different kind of visual component.
You're seeing in a different way, man, and it's so cool. I mean, it can be very overwhelming and actually scary for people, too, and it has been for me in those experiences. I mean, those were some of the things over the years that I learned to deal with so that I didn't get freaked out by any way that's neither here nor there.
But Mercury-Neptune is like that, where there's this almost psychic center of perception that is opened during these times, and it doesn't really just replace, or it's like a it's like a lens placed over your normal lens and the lens just won't go away for a while. But if you're like me, and you're someone who searches and probes for meanings and patterns, and you love the language of patterns, and you like seeing your life through the language of patterns every day, like astrology helps us to do, then you're gonna love this transit, there's so much to love about it. It's also just known for being very fluid.
So, for example, I also find that as someone throughout the years who's loved to fiddle around with my guitar, that when, when you get Mercury-Neptune connections, there's just, there's this way in which it's much easier for me to stop thinking and just play. Not that, again, I'm not a super anything on guitar, but, you know, just for me, it's therapeutic to play an instrument, and I noticed that the ability to like, like, just drop into a place of flow is much easier.
That's the same thing for writers, any kind of writers or creators, or even in conversation with friends; you may find that the ability to flow along and, like you, you find that conversation and mind spaces communicate spaces of communication are moving along like a river. Now, because Mercury is in a fire sign, a Jupiter-ruled sign, and Neptune's in a water sign, also a Jupiter-ruled sign, I could see this being big and expressive, big and imaginative, fiery and emotional, charismatic, charismatic speech and passionate ideas and big fluid flexible flowy inspiration.
However, as Ron Butler says, a tendency toward errors and misunderstandings, confusion and wishful thinking, issues around honesty and clarity. So it's very easy, especially through, I would say, with this one with so much Jupiter, that exaggeration is a real; it's a potential shadow for this one.
Exaggeration, as well as over-promising and under-delivering overestimating something, thinking something is bigger or better or brighter than it actually is doesn't mean it's nothing doesn't mean it doesn't, that there isn't something of substance or value to what you're thinking or the big idea that you're getting hooked by. But it may not be as big or as bright or as true or as amazing as you think it is when you're swept up in the emotion and, you know, the profundity of Mercury square Neptune. There's also the potential to see things that aren't there to delude yourself to have, you know, a like a bout of wishful thinking, or to be someone who is picking up on subtleties and maybe there are partial truths contained in the subtleties you're picking up on, but you're overestimating how clearly you're able to understand the subtleties that you're picking up on.
For example, you might think that you know what someone else is thinking, but it's actually only about 20 or 30% of what they're thinking; it's still remarkable that you can pick up on what someone else is thinking on an intuitive or psychic level, but doesn't mean that you've got all the whole story attended tendency toward errors and misunderstandings can also happen because there's this tendency with Mercury and Neptune in particular, for the details and the logic and the groundedness of the mind to be swept up in this kind of otherworldly Neptunian haze.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that from time to time. I mean, I think, for example, of the kind of altered state of, you know, being at a concert or dancing or being in a really exciting, fun conversation with a friend when you're a little hopped up on caffeine, you know, those are things that I think get a little brighter, a little bit more interesting when Mercury square to Neptune, but you might want to wait before you start that huge business endeavor with your friend when you guys had four shots of espresso, and you're super jacked up.
You're super excited to start your eco farm, your healing center retreat center that every last person wants to start, including myself. So you know, I mean, you gotta be a little bit careful with where you know where things are going where you think that they can go. But have fun with it, you know, have fun with the fluid flowy. It can be a little overwhelming; the mind can get overwhelmed.
On a more serious note, Mercury square Neptune is, you know, a moment ripe with mental health implications and emotional breakdowns over the overwhelm of the mind and emotional body, which can happen when there is grief. For when there is confusion or when you know mental health decompensation, right, this is kind of when the center falls apart, and you're not able to hold it together mentally. That can be a really challenging part of Mercury-Neptune, and you may be, you may bear witness to, or, you know, have to hold space for people who have those challenges. You know, over the weekend, you could also find that there's, you know.
With Mercury-Neptune, sometimes there's an inability to articulate yourself or an inability to hold boundaries, and that can be really overwhelming to where something's coming at you, and you're feeling flooded, and there's a struggle to try to maintain some boundary to protect mind and emotions, to stay sane, so to speak. All real stuff that can come with Mercury-Neptune.
Now, what I find interesting is remember that Venus is very much empowered in Libra right now in crossing the south node of the moon. I pulled a couple of tarot cards; when I asked for some insight about what's going on in the sky right now with Mercury Neptune over the weekend, I pulled Three of Cups, and the three of them let me close this little thing. Alright, so the Three of Cups, I mean, first of all, it has some very interesting imagery of women dancing together and holding up cups and celebration.
It brought to my mind right away, like, you know, just playing riffing on the obvious symbolism. Like it could be a very, again, I said charismatic, emotional. But Mercury, Neptune might also be like, you know, a group of friends all drinking a lot together, you know. So, like the cup runs over, there's a kind of a feeling of merriment, and celebration, and partying or something like that. So, you know, there could be kind of a celebratory mood in mind and emotion. Again, you would want to be careful of excessiveness. But this also speaks to me about the potential for some kind of compromise, some kind of collaboration.
Venus with the south node of the moon, at the exact same time, could point to, you know, like a meaningful moment of karmic harvesting or fruiting in relationships with other human souls that may be, is, you know, celebratory, collaborative. You know, there's a feeling of working together with other people; maybe the Venus South Node signature is also bringing some sense of resolution or peace or agreement between different people who have different ideas.
Remember, last week, we talked a lot about the conflict between principles and the need to find a gentle, harmonious approach. So anyway, I thought that was interesting. I thought the I-Ching hexagram that came back was very straightforward. It's just one hexagram, and that was hexagram number 16. Let me put that up on the screen in case you would like to check it out. Hexagram number 16 is sometimes called enthusiasm. Thunder comes resounding out of the Earth. Similarly, thunder roars roar up from the masses when the superior person strikes a chord in their heart, whips up the enthusiasm, rallies, or forces move boldly forward. We have thunder over Earth and the trigrams of hexagram 16, and it really talks about mobilizing and finding helpers by generating that help through enthusiasm, charisma, having something that you're passionate about and excited about, generates excitement in other people, and you need that if you're going to have a supportive or collaborative endeavor.
I was like, wow, both the tarot and the I-Ching seem to be wanting to include Mercury Neptune along with Venus in the South Node in Libra, suggesting some kind of enthusiastic rallying of collaboration or support with other people or maybe just married men having fun with other people.
So I thought those were some interesting little things to add in that you might find useful. Often, those little elements of the way in which I present my material every day is on the prep side of my work and not in the side that I talk about publicly. It's like that's the often I will I will do what I just did, but I will use that to shape how I'm talking or thinking about the transits in the sky. That is one part of a long prep process that goes into the content we create every day here on the channel.
If you enjoyed today's video if, you get something of positive spiritual use and value for your life. If at any point during this year, you have found these to be useful in looking at timelines helpful and understanding transits, helping you stay more conscious and grounded and cultivating a healthy understanding of what's going on in your life, please consider supporting the channel we need 1777 backers by New Year's to meet our goal. You can pick up a reward when you donate; you can hop over to the Kickstarter in the comments section of this post or the description of this post. In the description of the video, there's a link. Hop over there pitching; help us meet our goal and pick up a cool reward; when you do, we have tons of things we offer to also say thank you for your support, and we so appreciate everyone who's already pitched in this first week.
