Who Owes What to Who?

Watch today for the subject of fairness in relationships, or the harmonizing of different practical goals or needs in various working partnerships or projects, with bosses or in the workplace. As Venus approaches Pluto the shadows of our relationships might come up in different ways in the week ahead:

* Affairs, betrayal, dishonesty
* Lust, desire, powerful sexual connection
* Manipulation, malice, discontent
* Things hidden or kept within erupting in powerful displays of emotion, eroticism, or artful display
* Jealousy and revenge
* Positive transformation of relationships through cleansing, healing or purging of malignant issues
* Sickness or injury related to sexuality, sex crime
* Sexual addiction, problems, or poor treatment of the body related to pleasure or perverted desires

Today with the Moon in Libra the symbolism showing up has more to do with balance, fairness, and negotiating something in order to avoid emotional conflict. As I’m continuing to revisit my study of the Bible each morning (as I visit a large variety of ancient/sacred texts each year) I wasn’t surprised to come across the story of Jesus eating dinner with a Pharisee. While Jesus is at the Pharisee’s house, a lower class woman, maybe a prostitute, comes and anoints Jesus and washes his feet. The Pharisee can’t believe a prophet would allow someone unclean to touch his feet. Jesus asks the teacher of the law a question. If two people both owe the same person a debt, but one person owes much more than the other, and both debts are forgiven, then who loves the master more for wiping the debt clean? The Pharisee answers that of course it’s the person who owed more money. Jesus agrees, and says something like, “To love more forgive more.”

When I pulled up the transits for the day and I saw the Moon in Libra moving toward a square of Venus in Capricorn I couldn’t help but see the story in the stars. I plan on taking this with me today and remembering that counting our debts for or against each other, weighing who owes what to who, doesn’t help us to love more. In fact it prevents us from giving whatever we give from a place of freedom.

So, today if you owe someone something, then give it freely rather than from a place of “owing.” If someone owes you something, maybe forgive them that debt and see what you end up getting in its place. And if you feel tempted to negotiate your love or affection, bartering or trading it to get what you feel you need, let it go instead.

I say this now, also, because when Venus moves toward Pluto we might be challenged to forgive each other at a much deeper level as deeper issues are brought to the surface by the transfiguration processes of Pluto.
