“Rising from the Dead: the meaning of planets returning to visibility” with Michelle Corbesier

About this workshop
In this workshop we will explore what it means for a planet to reappear over the horizon during twilight, after a period of being hidden under the Sun’s beams. The symbolism of heliacally rising stars is fascinating, and this phenomenon was understood as a powerful omen by ancient astrologers. What is the significance of reemerging planets? What does it mean when they disappear again? How can we use this information when interpreting a chart? We’ll look at a range of examples where visibility is the central focus. The purpose of this workshop is to familiarize astrologers with this concept, in order to enable them to interpret these phenomena with more confidence.
About the speaker
Astrology has been in my life since I was a teenager. For a long time, the stars and planets remained dormant in the background while I was focusing on painting and sculpting. My relationship with astrology became more serious when I discovered Hellenistic astrology. I became a student of Acyuta-bhava, and I just couldn’t stop reading and studying! The remarkable history, the awe-inspiring philosophy and above all, the practice of astrology have shaken up and transformed my life and worldview. I ground myself in a practical and methodical approach and last year I developed a passion for horary astrology.
In addition to giving natal chart readings to clients, I also guide Acyuta-bhava’s first year students, and I am involved in several study groups. Collaborating and studying with other astrologers has been immensely enriching, and it brings a lot of joy to my life.

"Images, Houses & Places" with Martien Hermes
April 10, 2021
2–4:30 pm Eastern
These events are free, but you need to register to attend!
About this workshop
In this webinar Martien will explore the conceptualisation of three basic astrological instruments: the Images/representations (the ‘signs’), the Images as the domiciles of planets (their ‘house’), and the places, what we now call ‘houses’. These are the bread and butter of astrological delineation as they are the backbone of it.
As always the ideas of Robert Schmidt are key in understanding the differences between them, so the fateconcept(s) play a major part in getting to the root of these astrological instruments.
Martien will present the Images as being fated by the places they represent as their due. Each one of us has a different ascendant, and in whole-sign-houses this means that each Image gets appointed a specific place in the circle of 12. This then is strongly connected to...
The domiciles of the planets. These will be viewed as a principle of oikeiosis, the familiarisation concept.
The places will be viewed form the concept of angular triads.
These underlying conceptualisations will help differentiate their specific role in delineation.
About the speaker
Martien Hermes 22-3-1959 - Goirle - Netherlands - 51N31 14, 5E4 0 - 10:56:22, Ascendant the Crab.
In 1983 I came into contact with the world of alternative medicine and astrology. I am a qualified (Dutch) astrologer. I am quite happy with my family name Hermes, it’s not an alias as many believe.
I have been teaching astrology since 1985. Since 1986 I was extensively involved with Freudian and Jungian psychology and cocounseling and its application in astrological practice.
Since 1994 I have been researching traditional astrological sources and regularly lecture and do workshops on the insights from this field of knowledge. I studied Robert Zoller's course on 'Medieval astrology', I studied a while with Steven Birchfield. Since 2003 I started studying the work of Robert Schmidt, the man who restored Hellenistic astrology and put it on the map. My astrology was never the same after that.
From 1998 to 2004 I was (chief) editor and publisher of Anima Astrologiæ, a magazine for the promotion of traditional astrological expertise in the Dutch language area.
In May 2010 I started the project that I called 'The reintroduction of Fate/Destiny into the astrologers expertise'. The first seminar devoted to it, "Elements of Destiny in the Natives’ Chart", dealt with the positioning of astrology as a discipline within the concepts of destiny and, conversely, the positioning of the concepts of destiny within astrology. That eventually became the content of the book (2015) ‘Moving and Being Moved. The return of Fate in Astrology’. A colleague wrote the following about it: "Earlier I already wrote that I think this is one of the most important astrological books which have been published in the Netherlands. I still support this claim."
It was translated in French.
I do consultations, courses, lectures and workshops on classical astrology in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. I taught the module ‘Astrology as a Platonic-Hermetic-Jungian Practicum at the Academy of Humanities in Utrecht for some years.

"Discovering the Personal Daimon" with Cat Rose Neligan
April 11, 2021
2:30–5 pm Eastern
These events are free, but you need to register to attend!
About this workshop
Have you ever felt yourself being pulled towards something? A calling to paint, write, dance, sing, travel, teach…? Whatever you’ve felt, and whether you’ve followed that call or not, that is the work of your personal daimon.
The daimon goes by many names and guises. For some, it’s their Holy Guardian Angel. For others, it’s their calling. Others see it as trickster, or worse, a demon.
In this talk, we explore the cultural variations on the daimon, the origins of it and why it’s been so sought after (intellectually, spiritually or otherwise) for thousands of years.
We’ll focus on the use of astrology to understand the personal daimon, identify your own daimonic experiences and explore how it shows up for you, using your birth chart.
