Hi everyone, this is Acyuta-bhava from Nightlight Astrology. Happy Monday everybody. Today we're going to take a look at a birth chart, I'm going to give you a few tips for reading a birth chart specifically looking at the lunar phase and how much information can be gained just by taking a look at the lunar phase in a chart and also looking at congregations of planets in whole sign places. So we'll take a look at that. I do this as a way of helping people who are at home learning how to read birth charts, who may not have the time, the energy the resources to devote themselves to one of my full programmes. At the same time. I also use these little teaching sessions on birth charts to promote my programme so kind of both at once. Before I do that, I'm also going to take a minute to look at the dark moon today and some of the aspects forming with the dark moon because they're quite potent. So that's our agenda for today. Before I do that, I want to remind all of you that my new class ancient astrology for the modern mystic my first year programme begins in June. We just finished our last class of the Year for my programme that started last June. And we had a nice closing circle yesterday. And Gosh, there was several 100 people that went through that class. So congrats to everyone for finishing the programme. Many of of those students are going on to my year two or horary classes which also begin in June. And I'm excited to welcome a new programme out this will be my 22nd programme that's gone through this this course. So you can go to my website nightlight astrology.com, go to the courses page, and click on the first year course this is the starting point. It's a one year programme in ancient astrology over 12 months, we talk about the history and philosophy and sort of spiritual roots of astrology, the basic astronomy, we talk about the influence of modern depth psychology in the on astrology, the influence of modern depth, psychology and astrology in the modern era. And we compare and contrast it to the way that ancient astrologers practice. And eventually, we look for a kind of synthesis between the two. But we are really diving very deeply into the most foundational elements of technique and craft that ancient astrologers used. As we go along throughout the programme. We one concept sort of builds on the next until we reach a place where we start practising with live charts and excuse me, live clients and with charts that students bring in to class to work on. It's a really great programme. There's lots of extra bonus material, homework, quizzes, breakout study sessions with my staff, group forum time, you can email me with questions throughout the year. And again, we have a really great kind of practicum section of the programme where you actually get to see live readings done, and then we break down those readings together afterward. Anyway, begins on June 13. We meet typically three weeks on for about two to three hours each week, and then a week or two off, and we go like that through modules for a year. There's also 12 guest lectures on the year, you can choose a variety of different payment plans, we have need based tuition for people who might need some help, we have a normal payment plan and we also have the early bird for those people who want to save $500 off if you pay in full before the start of the programme. Alright, so that's my schpeel. Thank you guys. And I hope to see some of you in class soon. Now let's take a look at this dark moon that's forming. Right now it's a balsamiq moon I want to give you just a sense of where we are at in the moon cycle right now because this, this dark moon is a little bit more intense.
3:33
Tomorrow we're gonna be talking about the new moon you can see it forming right here in Taurus. The new moon in Taurus will happen tomorrow. That's may 11. So we'll visit that tomorrow. But for today, the most important thing to notice is that the moon in Taurus, though exalted and very strong, is also going to go through the conjunction with Uranus and the square to Saturn. So you're talking about the potential for some hiccups, let's call them, as the Dark Moon is coming through. Now, the Dark Moon is a space that's either very restful, a little otherworldly, mystical, transcendental, it feels like you're shedding that skin from the those layers from the lunar cycle. And really, I recommend at this time of the month of May, when we had a yoga studio, you know, Dark Moon time was always the most Yin of the practices that I or my wife would typically lead. So you know, when you're looking at this energy coming through the dark moon and seeing that it can be really bumpy. The conjunction to Uranus, of course, later this afternoon, who we're talking about May 10, later this afternoon, that that can bring some twists and turns and some unexpected excitement. And you know, when that's happening at this deep kind of restful place, you have to be careful if you're pushing too hard at at the wrong time of the lunar cycle, and then you hit an aspect like this, it can be a lot bumpier. So I'm recommending to everybody today, like, you know, don't be surprised if some of that kind of erratic Uranian energy comes through later in the day. And you just have to kind of prepare yourself for that. I would like lay low today, if I could. And then the square to Saturn comes in in the square to Saturn can feel limiting, it can feel a little moody or depressive or heavy, so that Uranus Saturn square that push pull between the erratic, expansive revolutionary qualities and the more stern or isolating restrictive qualities or the kind of mature sober qualities of Saturn, those two energies, you know, anytime planets are passing through and connecting to both of them at once that square is being activated. So under a dark moon, when that's happening, you just want to be careful of trying to turn the page too quickly on the moon cycle, there's some last very deep letting go, that's going to happen today into tomorrow. Normally, I don't talk a whole lot about just one day within a lunar cycle outside of the new and full moons. But this one struck me just because this aspect from the moon to Uranus is also hitting a sextile with a fallen Mars in Cancer. So there's a potential for it later this afternoon for there to be like a little eruption of of more pent up energy coming out in ways that are not totally easy to deal with. I think it'll be okay, the sextile to Mars, even if Mars is a little dinged up, the sextile is a positive aspect. The square to Saturn also should provide some containment and the transit is relatively brief. So I think anything that comes up that's a little bit more volatile today, with this dark moon would be contained pretty quickly, or would receive some real, like a kind of a mature check from Saturn. And some elder wisdom, you know, Uranus in in the moon, with Mars can could feel a little bit like wild, whereas Saturn will kind of rein things in a little bit. So I think today will be okay, overall. But, you know, be careful, don't be pushing things too much later today. And try to lay low, try to try to relax and be receptive and open to what happens Try not to have much of an agenda today. That's my advice. Anyway.
7:46
Okay. So that being said, Now what we're going to do is to open up the chart of a woman that came into one of my classrooms A while ago. And I'm going to do just a really pared down version of some of what we talked about in my classroom so that you guys can see what kinds of things we do. So and this is also useful if you're at home studying and like I said, maybe you don't have the time energy, you know, resources to take a full year programme from me or whoever else. And it's helpful to just have some tips. So in this chart you're seeing we use in my classroom, we work with the traditional seven planets and whole sign houses. And we're really learning how to read the basics and, and really get down to that foundational level of technique that can make your readings very clear and organised and concise and predictively accurate. One of the things that I do when I look at a chart is I start by saying, Are there any major themes gathering through aspects and congregations of planets? And yeah, in this chart there there is you can see two of the traditional seven in the ninth house including the moon, and you can see three of the traditional seven in the first house along with the ascendant and the north node of the moon. And so that creates that we've got five of the traditional seven planets that we analyse, connecting in a whole sign trine air signs between the ninth and the first.
9:26
This is a disseminating moon, it is a waning gibbous moon almost last quarter. And one of the things that we can do right away when you see the ninth and the first activated in the lunar cycle by a waning gibbous is to form a simple statement. For example, once we know what does the waning gibbous moon represent, well it represents dissemination of experience knowledge, karma, and let's just say activities. So, dissemination of experience knowledge, karma activities, they all just different words for the same thing. I'm just using sort of synonyms here. But it typically means that what a person has learned or understood or experienced will need to flow outward from them into the world in some way. In the same way that we're really using the image of the moon shedding its light, as after the full moon as something that has gathered something together, and then disseminates or lets it go outward, and into the world in this case comes from the fact that the moon is the ruler of the midheaven, and the 10th house and the lot of fortune in the 10th house, and is in a very visible place above the horizon.
10:52
So the 10th house is called was called praxis, which means action. And in one sense, it can speak to your career and the kinds of things that you do in the world. But more broadly speaking, and this is very important, because too many people will focus specifically on one's reputation or one's career, which is a mistake. The the broader definition of the 10th house means the course of action that one takes in the world, the world meaning where there are social or societal ramifications. Now for most of us, that, of course, will include our career, but it's a little bit broader than that, because it has to do with the idea of the way that one understands oneself as a social animal and the way that one acts or behaves in the world, the actions and practices that one has in the world. Now, with the moon, ruling that place and in its disseminating phase in the ninth house along with Mars, you get the feeling of someone who's going to be disseminating something of their gathered experiences out into the world. So what would that mean in the ninth house? Well, it would mean a dissemination of higher knowledge of higher education, or of religious experience that they would perhaps need to share, teach or explain things that they've learned or studied or understood philosophically or spiritually, they need to travel, they meaning to, maybe they need to pursue a variety of different trainings, or educational programmes with a double bodied sign, like a very adaptable and changeable sign like Gemini. And it'll probably be something research oriented, something related to the body, something related to analytical or kind of, you know, executive mental qualities, or some some very particular technical set of skills.
12:51
These are all Mars in Gemini kinds of things that are also colouring it with the moon. Now, the moon could pertain in the ninth house to something like the study of medicine or the body, or real estate law, or, you know, there's all different kinds of combinations that you could get. And usually, the point in a reading is not to try to offer an interpretation that's overly specific. As I always say, if try to hit the bullseye, you'll miss the dartboard entirely most of the time. If I give them a range of things, like you know, research, technical analytical skills, data may be things involving the body, or things involving public policy moon in the ninth house, that's a that's one of the possible delineations. And there's lots of others too, but I just kind of offer a range and then say, but the point is, that it'll be very important for you to learn gather insight and information and share it with the world. And probably something that has that kind of technical analytical quality with Mars there and Mercury's sign.
13:47
Now, that's, that's the first read, because of the moon phase, I've all I've done is really look at the moon phase, and then place the moon phase in the ninth house. And look at the fact that the moon is very public here and rules, the career house, or the place where a person is concerned with their public activities. And so the other thing that's very important here is in the first house, you also have a collection of planets. So what does it mean that we also have a nice stellium of planets in Libra? Well, in the first house, I should say, when the sun is in the first house in particular, it's almost always that it's super cliched, but it's almost always dead on, which is that the person is looking to individuate. Now we're all looking to individuated in a way, when a person has the sun in the first house. It is as though they are dawning on the world. There's there's a conscious effort to integrate and incorporate the archetypal qualities of the Sun into the mind, the body, the appearance, the personality, and for most people, that means, oh, let's just say son in First we'll put some qualities here, leadership, taking personal risks. That's another first house Sun quality, sharing one's gifts and creative nature with the world. Overcoming, let's say, personal doubt, or insecurities, these are often first house kinds of qualities. You usually will have it go one of two ways, a person with the first house son has all of these qualities in spades and is oftentimes going to be looking how to you know, CTFO and coexist with other people and not be so selfish or something like that. That's one extreme or the person has the sun in the first house specifically because they don't have those qualities and they're trying to cultivate them. But it's it's usually one or the other and you got to kind of feel out the context of the chart. When a person has Venus in Libra mercury in Libra, you know, the, the sun in Libra all in the first house.
16:08
Remember, the sun is in its fall in the sign of Libra. However, we do have venus here in her rulership. So one of the things that I look at here is I go, Well, how good is you know, a sun Venus person at asserting themselves. Sometimes the Libra in particular is going to have a hard time deciding or determining what they want, because they tend to be harmonizers. And as you guys know, I'm preaching to the choir, you guys probably listen to this probably all know this about about the sign of Libra, that it can indicate people who have an easier time making judgments when there's an objective criteria, like an interior designer, where you can, you have like a databank in your mind of different colours that work together and that don't work together or styles that work together and don't work together or even the pre existing criteria of the law, or the the rules or codes have some kind of system or institution to refer back to and then use them to make judgments. But if you have to make a judgement based on something as subjective as your own soul, that could be more difficult for a Libra in the first house kind of person, it could be more challenging to figure out what kinds of risks are worth taking for myself, how to share myself with the world. And making sure that the version of yourself that you're bringing out to the world isn't simply about appearances, or about being pleasant to others. Sometimes you're going to upset people, sometimes you're not going to be pleasing to other people.
17:41
So anyway, you take these libran challenges that kind of libran individuation challenges. And now I'm not using the nodes here, some people may say, hey, that sounds like a north node in the first house kind of placement. It's actually not where I'm going with this, we'd have a very different read of the nodes in ancient astrology. And so you know, I'd need to do a separate video to explain that. It's in this case, the reason we're pointing toward that sense of this is what I have to do in the first house is because of the stellium because of the Sun, and then specifically, we're saying that this individuating will also come specifically through the desire to develop and share higher knowledge, truth, religious experience, etc, with other people. Okay, so there's other things in this chart that we could look at that we did look at in the session, for example, the moon is in a very tight opposition with Saturn. That's really interesting, super interesting aspect that's forming in the chart that also took up a good deal of our reading. But for now, I just wanted to show you guys how simple it can be to look at to wholesale houses to look at the face of the moon. And to put things together topically I'm not analysing or breaking down Venus Mercury and the sun and differentiating them super carefully. As you can tell, I'm sort of creating a very general and simple delineation based on a concentration of energy in Libra in the first knowing what we know about Venus ruled signs in a house that has a lot to do with personality and and selfhood and then also the disseminating moon connecting by trying to that house from the night. What does that mean all together.
19:19
So this was the delineation that I offered at the start of the reading, demonstrating some of the techniques that we study in my programme. When getting the feedback from the client. Here's what she had to say. And this was pretty cool. So she was like, Okay, here's her story. So earlier on in her life she was she was married, and I might get I might get certain details of the story a little mixed up, but the gist of it is here. She went to school she was married and one wanting to go back to school. But she was using all of her time, money, energy resources to support a spouse's endeavours and business.
20:12
And she really wanted to go back to school, but his job and his business took sort of the lead. So she sacrificed. And then what happened was he started struggling with addiction, and the marriage broke off right at the point where she was also returning to school. So she starts doing something for herself in the way of that ninth house Moon, I need to learn I need to study I need to share knowledge with the world, I need to become more of myself, especially through ninth house matters. And that was rewarded with with divorce when he wasn't number one anymore. And she goes back to school, right at that time, he starts struggling with addiction, and they end in divorce, then she spends she hasn't been married since then. And she's been primarily alone at this point in her life. That's oftentimes the case with first house people with a strong energy in the first house might mean that there's periods of time in life where you need to be alone or learn to be alone, or sometimes it's the opposite, sometimes first house people are going to be, they tend to be alone, but they might be learning how to be with others, or how to not be as self focus it, it really depends. And no, it does not depend on the nodes. Just just saying that in advance so that people don't go nuts with that. It's a little different, we read it differently. In ancient astrology, the context is not purely based on the position of the notes.
21:46
She then went back to school, and she went back to school for medical technology. So she's got that Moon and Mars in the ninth house of flash it back up on the screen again. And she went back to school for medical technology. So you can see right there is that Moon and Mars and it was medical research or something like that as medical lab research or something. So it was a research in Medicine Research, higher degree that she got. And it was one of I guess, several other instances in her life where she has had to, you know, she's kept going back to receive more education, more training, taking more programmes, and developing more of a confidence in being alone and being knowledgeable and sharing her knowledge and intelligence with the world. And a lot of it stemmed from this early marriage that where she was totally supporting this other person, right, just just like that. So now um, okay, so that's a good just another great example of some how you can take a look at the moon phase and how you can take a look at the presence of Congress congregations of planets and houses and tell a story that's very accurate and get sort of get right to the heart of the matter. At any rate, hopefully this was helpful for all of you guys out there who are studying on your own at least just getting some sense of the getting some sense for how the concentration of planets and houses in the moon cycle comes into contact with one another. I think that's super important and helpful to you know, emphasise in in your own readings.
