A Lunar Eclipse in Virgo — A Karmic Culmination – Horoscopes for all 12 Signs

Today we're going to take a look at the lunar eclipse that is taking place today in the sign of Virgo. For most of you listening to this in the morning, it's already happened, but we are going to look at this from the standpoint of your whole sign horoscopes.

Today I'm going to go through all 12 signs and give you a sense of what topics are being activated in your life by virtue of the house location of this eclipse in your birth chart. I recommend listening to your rising sign horoscope, because that will correspond with the whole sign house version of your birth chart, which will make the transits the most accurately placed. However, you can always listen for the sign that you prefer. If you listen to your sun sign or your moon sign, you know whatever you want is okay.

We covered this topic yesterday, from the standpoint of the mundane perspective, what to watch for, and some of the cyclic history of this placement of the south node of the Moon in Virgo. And we went back nine years and looked at the last time the North Node was in the sign of Virgo and corresponding solar eclipses. So on that note, thank you for letting me promote a few things today. Let's turn our attention to the real-time clock and take a look at this eclipse before we get into horoscopes. So you will see that Friday, March 14, we have the moon with the south node of the moon, and I'm going to back this up just slightly. And you can see there, the moon at 23 degrees of Virgo is full opposite the sun. At a time of a full moon, that is an eclipse.

So the eclipse has always happened in proximity to the nodes of the moon. Now the moon is also at the time of the full moon and eclipse, making a trine to Uranus in Taurus. And the sun is also making a sextile to Uranus in Taurus. So there's a very favorable, smooth, complementary, harmonious connection with Uranus at a time of lunar eclipse. So this lunar eclipse, bearing the mark of the culmination of a karmic cycle with, let's say, nine years of history dating back to 2015 and 16, when the last north node eclipses happened in Virgo, is Uranian, meaning that there may be some breakthroughs or some acceleration of change that is a little unexpected but helpful, the kinds of breakthroughs and liberation, originality, creativity, innovation, breaking outside of the mold, so to speak. That energy of Uranus is favorably configured to this eclipse through a trine. That's nice. That's a nice little signature in the midst of an eclipse window.

So just keep that in mind, that this eclipse feels a little Uranian and accelerates things, or changes things rapidly or shifts things unexpectedly, frees up energy, time, space, creativity that would be fitting for the Uranian signature around this full moon. Well, on that note, what I would like to do now is I'm going to eliminate everything from our chart view, except for the sun and the moon and the nodes of the moon. And I am going to take a look now at, actually, you know what? I'm just I'm going to, I'm going to get rid of the North Node and the sun as well. We're just gonna... There we go. That's perfect.

So what I am going to do is we're going to take this through all 12 whole sign horoscopes, and I'm going to give you some ideas about what kinds of topics you may see activated by this eclipse, not only now, but throughout the year ahead, because now the south node of the moon is going to be forming successive eclipses for about a year and a half. So we have several more Virgo eclipses to come, and for each of you, the topics of the house that the eclipses land in will be activated.

So again, I recommend listening to this for your rising sign, because that will correspond to the whole sign house version of your birth chart. Your sun or moon you could listen to as well, though, unless you were to have the sun and the moon in the actual first house of your birth chart, it will not correspond with your actual birth chart. So it becomes just a different divinatory take on events. And the way that horoscopes work is you take whatever sign you're reading for and put it as the whole sign first house. So if you listen to Cancer, it's the same exact horoscope for sun, moon, or rising, but the only way it'll actually correspond with your birth chart is if you are actually a Cancer rising.

So that's kind of the logic of it. I try to explain this because inevitably, every single time I do this, there are people who are confused and have questions. It is a little tricky to understand. But anyway, remember now too. I'm going to put this on the screen as a reminder. This reminder is for all of you. I'm going to put it right in the middle: September 2015 through... Let's say, what is it? Want to say it's like May 2017, something like that. Let me see, okay, and then I'm going to put this: "Last eclipses in Virgo with North Node." So that is for all of you to reference.

Because what I want you to think about, and we went over this yesterday, is this is the last period of time in which the North Node was in Virgo, which means we are now reaping what was sown from a nine-year cycle that began around this time. That is one very effective way of thinking about what this eclipse is doing, aside from whatever may happen today, tomorrow, or in the weeks and months ahead, as eclipses have a pretty broad window of expression. So whether it's today, tomorrow, the next few weeks, or months ahead, you'll notice things, but you may also track them back to this period of time when North Node solar eclipses were happening in Virgo.

Aries

All right, let's get into it. So for Aries, for Aries, these eclipses land in your sixth house. The sixth house is a place that is associated with conflict. And so we might look right now to the kinds of conflicts we are having, the kinds of conflicts we are resolving, the cycles and history of conflict that we've had in our lives, and how they are coming up for us right now. This also may have something to do with sickness, disease, or health. Now, the sixth house is not a house of health; it is the house of disease and sickness, accident, misfortune, but with the moon in this place and eclipses in this place, it's often about the feedback that we receive from sickness or illness, or even from various frustrations or hardships in our lives, and how those hardships become the ground for spiritual growth.

So I would look to cycles of sickness or hardship or difficulty or frustrations. What is frustrating you right now, and how are these frustrations connected to larger cycles in your life? And how are you addressing them or learning from them? That would also be very appropriate. Finally, questions about sacrifice and service. What am I passionately working toward? What kinds of hard work am I doing? What kind of apprenticing in life am I being put through where I'm not being paid full wages yet, so to speak? But I'm building something, I'm developing something, and there's a certain amount of sacrifice and effort that has to be made, and you may be reaping what's been sown in terms of cycles of effort and activity, sacrifice and labor that you've put into something.

These are the kinds of things that I would look at, in addition to questions about what is worth your time, effort, and sacrifice, what conflicts are worth it and which are not. So some things to be aware of there. For Aries, look back to the earlier period again, for some connective tissue.

Taurus

All right, let's go to Taurus. So for Tauruses, this cycle has been taking place in the fifth house, the place of creativity, the place connected to children, pregnancy, a place that is about the fertile, creative interaction that you have with other beings. This house is connected to things like romance. It was called The Joy of Venus. And there's something here that is about heart and soul and creativity and love and passionate romantic or creative connections with other beings.

This is a place that is reflective of your creative Dharma in life. So for Tauruses, what is that creative dharma? Are there cycles of learning and growing and evolution taking place right now, or in the months to come, the year to come, with respect to creative processes? As a Taurus rising, I note that when this was here, I noted this yesterday, nine years ago, my first daughter was born. She's nine years old right now, and she's having her first sort of nodal return. It's a flip nodal return, and I think that's really interesting, because she's going through a lot developmentally right now, and so there's cycles of parenting and creativity.

I'm also finishing a book this year, and some of the process of this book got started under these eclipses nine years ago. So I find this really fascinating for Tauruses in terms of things connected to children, pregnancy, creativity, and also the way in which you interact with other beings on the level of your creative essence, like, how easy is it for you to bring out the spontaneous, joyful, creative spark within you? Your Dharma in this life is to be a creator on some level. How is that coming up for you right now? What holds you back? What inhibitions, what fears, what level of perfectionism, or, you know, being self-critical, what levels are you holding yourself back at? Which are you? Are you being held back, I should say, by critical voices within, and how do we let them go? Also, how do you get better? How do you improve your craft? How do you improve abilities and skills? These are things that come out of the fifth house Virgo placement as well.

Gemini

Going forward to Gemini on the ascendant. These cycles are historic for you. These cycles dig deep into that well that is the fourth house, that deep, dark, subterranean space that was associated with the underworld, with ancestry, with the roots and foundation of our life, with the private inner part of ourselves that is not seen or visual or that is more private. This is also the place of parents and home and family karma, your property or your living environment. What cycles of karma are coming to a conclusion or resolution? What old cycles or patterns are being released? What changes are taking place generationally, ancestrally? How is your living environment changing? What are you getting in touch with on the level of your inner life, your inner more private thoughts? What do you need to draw forth from this inner space right now? What cycles are concluding themselves with respect to the inner life, the home life, the sphere of family karma? These are the kinds of things that I would watch for very closely, tying it back to that period between 2015 to 2017 for my Geminis out there.

Cancer

All right, let's go forward to Cancer. For Cancer, we are looking at the third house, which was called The Joy of the Moon. And the house was also called Dia, which means goddess. This is a place that is connected to everything that is within us. Think about the third house emerging from the fourth and orienting toward the eastern horizon, which is the place of the self and individuality. So this is about, how do we bring forth everything that is within us? In terms of skill development and learning, acquisition of abilities, development and cultivation of abilities, the ability to communicate what is within effectively to other people, and to develop something like a psychology, a personality, a form or way of taking what's in and translating it to the outer world.

So a lot of things to do with communication of the inner life into the outer life, into the world around us. The third house is also the world around us. It is the environment, the neighborhood, the culture, the village, siblings, peers, sometimes competitors. So we look at this house for Cancers, and you think to yourself, how am I learning to articulate more of who I am, more carefully, more thoughtfully? How am I learning to speak what is on my mind and in my heart without fear of judgment or being overly critical of myself? How am I developing or cultivating my intelligence? What am I learning right now? What's happening with my siblings? What's happening with the village or environment around me? What karmic cycles are coming to completion right now? And look back to that period between September 2015 and May 2017, which is approximately the period within which eclipses were last occurring here.

Leo

Now moving forward, let's put Leo on the ascendant. This is interesting: the second house eclipses with the South Node, relating back to the cycle of North Node eclipses between September 2015 and about May of 2017. This gives us a cycle with respect to money, finances, acquisitions, resources, anything that aids or assists us, anything that we develop or cultivate, that we come to rely on as a means to an end. Well, if I have this skill, I'll be able to make money. If I build this thing, it will give me support. And also, what do I fundamentally have, or am I in possession of?

So for Leos, there's a lot here about the development and acquisition of skills and resources. What do you have within you? What do you rely on? And how are you being asked to develop new resources and become more self-reliant? Also, this is a cycle that speaks to the need to let go of any way in which you're spending time, money, energy, or resources that is inefficient or ineffective. And it's also about cycles of independence and interdependence with other beings in terms of how you're resourced. So for Leos, a lot there around things like money, business, finances, resources, dependency versus independence, around resources, acquisitions, and things that you're developing or cultivating that you can rely on or that can support you.

Virgo

So move forward, and we'll put Virgo on the ascendant next. With Virgo on the ascendant, you are getting eclipses in your first house. This is fascinating when it comes to cycles that have to do with the cultivation of your own Dharma, your own character, your own sense of individuality. We talked recently, in a talk I gave on individuation. Virgos are definitely getting a series of eclipses this year that will promote the topic of individual individuation in their lives. Meaning, how am I different? How am I apart from other people? What are the conflicts and different parts of me within that I don't know how to mediate? And the process of learning how to mediate the conflicts within you, the different parts or various aspects of yourself, will come to the forefront.

You'll also notice that patterns of health and disease, patterns of well-being and vitality versus patterns of disease, sickness, or the lack of self-care that we sometimes have in our lives on display when we're sick. These themes and topics will also become important for many Virgo risings. Are you treating yourself well? Are you eating right? Are you sleeping right? Are you exercising? Are you putting the right kinds of vitamins and minerals into your body? Are you getting the right amount of rest and recovery? Do you look the way that you want to look? Do you feel the way that you want to feel? So the process of individuation can spread into other areas of our life, and then we can, whoops, accidentally stop sharing my screen. Here we go, and when we are taking care of ourselves and we feel really good inside, it is harder for the conflicts between the different voices or parts of ourselves to become draining or exhausting or depressing, or to push us into a space of psychic depletion.

So for Virgos, there may also be a really interesting mind-body kind of connection taking place right now where various dimensions of your psychology that you are working through, working out as you learn who you are, are fundamentally connected to how well you are taking care of yourself. I would also look at questions about who you are as a being apart from other beings in relationship, as well as what changes you might need to make to show up in ways that are healthier and healing and happy in relationships. So these are the kinds of things to watch for, for Virgos.

Libra

For Libras, it's interesting that these eclipses take place in the 12th house. I might look at things happening in the 12th house as things that are trying to speak to us from beyond the veil. What I mean by that is the unconscious or the astral, or dreams or sleep or altered mystical states. It could be that you are now in a cycle where things that are truly otherworldly, that go beyond your understanding or your control, or that are in some ways unconscious or unseen or invisible or exist in a kind of blind spot, are asking to be seen. And are requiring that you dive into those spaces, even if it's a little scary, to see what you can learn.

I love 12th house eclipses for bringing invisible things into our conscious awareness. I love the 12th house eclipses for getting a better understanding of what and who undermines us versus what, who, and where are we finding sources of support and nourishment. But also, a really good time to take quiet time, to take time for solitude, to delve into that vast oceanic space of the collective unconscious, the dream space, the other world that the 12th house is. When you're in that space, note that you have a history that relates back to 2015 to 17. How were unconscious dimensions of your life present during that period of time? What is the connection between this period and that period? You may find some really meaningful bridges to walk across there.

Scorpio

For Scorpios, we look at this in the 11th house and note that the place is called the House of Friends and Allies. It's also called the place of wishes, aspirations, hopes, dreams, and so in this house for Scorpios, we're looking at a cycle that maybe has a history dating back to that 2015 to 17 period with respect to things like friends, allies, groups, organizations, communities. And there may be some transitions happening with respect to that social or communal or organizational dimension of your life. Where do I belong? Where do I fit in? What is my contribution? And also, questions? I would imagine that one thing that could take place with an 11th house Virgo would be the potential to be really critical of yourself socially, and maybe there's anxieties or insecurities that exist socially or with respect to how you fit in or do not fit in.

And oftentimes, you know, Virgo in the 11th will try to fit in by virtue of doing something useful or helpful within a group or trying to be part of something in a way that, you know, there's no possible way that I could lose my footing in this place because I'm useful, helpful, thoughtful, I do the good thing, etc. You also have to look though at how much you're getting in return, or how much your cup is being filled in exchange for how much you're giving. That is a real issue for Virgos, so we apply that to the 11th house Virgo and think, Okay, well, the 11th house Virgo energy could be one in which I do the right thing, but maybe I'm not getting as much in return. I'm not being filled up as much. This isn't a reciprocal dynamic, as much as it could be or needs to be for me. So those are things to be aware of.

I would also say just changes within groups or organizations that are culminating that have some tie back to 2015 to 17. Where are you seeking support from allies or friends? What type of people are beneficial allies for you right now is a real topic of concern or interest, and also the changing landscape of your aspirations, your wishes, your dreams, the things that shape how and what you long for, for emotional fulfillment that are also social in nature. How are those things changing or shifting right now?

Sagittarius

All right, well, let's go forward to Sagittarius. With Sagittarius on the ascendant, the cycle of eclipses taking place in the 10th house. This is the place that is the public sphere, I should say. So what is your public role? What is your public reputation? What is your... How are you seen or known in the public sphere? What kinds of activities do you take place in there? This is applicable for anyone at any stage of life, but of course, for most of us in the middle stages of life, this will have something to do with vocation or employment, and our notoriety, reputation with respect to the skills that we've mastered or that we have that we're known for, that we profit or benefit from in the marketplace, so to speak.

So in this case, for Sagittarians, you're going through a cycle of karmic culmination and completion, with respect to the eclipses that were taking place between 2015 and 17 in your 10th house of career. So you might see some interesting connections dating back to that time. But either way, the karmic culmination or completion could mean changes of job, changes in the workplace, changes in staff, changes in title, responsibility. Maybe you're reaching a point where you feel like you've mastered something and you're starting to reap the benefits of having taken a long time to learn something and put practical skills into employment. It could be that there are changes with respect to what you want to do, or how you're going to do the things that you do, and also changes with respect to where and how you feel you are best of use or service in the world, and also the kinds of things that may connect you to functionally or organizationally, technologically. This is, after all, a Mercury-ruled sign with a Mercury retrograde coming up. So I think about that a little bit for Sagittarians.

Capricorn

All right, we'll move to Capricorns. Capricorns have this eclipse taking place in the ninth house, which is the place of the higher mind, of wisdom, truth, the pursuit of understanding, mysticism, religion. It's also connected to travel abroad, anything that sort of expands our horizons. So for Capricorns, look back to the years of 2015 to 17, the last eclipses in Virgo with the North Node that were taking place there. What kind of cycle have you been in with respect to the process of learning, of religion and spirituality, the pursuit of truth and understanding? Education, teachers, teaching, the process of questioning and doubt as well as faith and understanding? That process is a process that often dances back and forth, especially with the Mercury-ruled sign in the ninth house.

Sometimes we have to ask questions, let go of things we thought we knew, call things into doubt, or discard things that aren't working, in order to start a new cycle where we, you know, like Socrates, begin with the humble admission that we don't really know anything. But for Capricorns, right now, a cycle is taking place, a culmination of a cycle and the reaping of what's been sown in the place of your higher mind. And this could also take you abroad or connect to things that are taking place in foreign countries, or some meaningful travel. But for Capricorns, also, I would say it's important right now to think about what conclusions have you been led to, or what questions do you have with respect to truth and how your philosophy is being shaped and how it is guiding your life. Those are the kinds of things to watch for, for our Capricorns.

Aquarius

For Aquarians, we have this eclipse taking place in the eighth house, which is the place of fear and anxiety of the future, of penalties, debts, karma that is incurred and owed to other beings, but also the things that are owed to us, the kinds of exchanges karmically that come through meaningful relationships, both the good and the bad. And obviously, on a spiritual level, there's, you know, that's not really good or bad, but we certainly have a way of thinking about different kinds of karmic exchanges as relatively desirable or undesirable. Breakups, we don't necessarily like division of assets in a divorce. We don't necessarily like... but we do like it when we have mutually beneficial things to give each other that lift each other up, all of which can happen in the eighth house.

But there is a way in which the eighth house is filled with a lot of fear and dread and a sense of dependence that we have, like, I can't do something without someone or something else, they can't do something without me. My value is rooted in how other people see me and assess me. So some sticky points in the eighth house that might be coming up for Aquarians right now. What do you need to be let go from? What agreements, what bonds, what negotiations, what obligations karmically are you releasing from right now, or are being released or need to be released? On the other hand, what are you reaping the benefits of from various karmic relationships? What inheritances, so to speak, karmically, are coming to you right now to aid or support? What debts are you paying off? These are the kinds of questions I would look at, as well as cycles that have to do with the death and the releasing of old cycles that things that have reached their expiration date often come with lunar eclipses in the eighth house.

Very seldomly do I see that literally tied to death, though sometimes there might be someone who passes around the, you know, kind of a South Node lunar eclipse in the eighth, like a grandmother or something like that. Usually not when someone is like out of the blue, not expected. It's usually something you see coming. But the eclipses will often mean that various karmas are burning off, with respect to souls leaving their body and taking on the next lifetime.

Pisces

Now let's move forward to Pisces, last but never least. The eclipse is taking place in your seventh house, which is the place of relationships. So you date back from September 2015 to 17, and you think about cycles in love, cycles with respect to things like intimacy and sexuality, partnering and interpersonal relationships, those deeper, more meaningful, one-on-one kinds of bonds, the changes taking place with respect to the themes and patterns of learning and growth in an existing relationship, things that are changing in the life of a partner, things that are changing in your dating life, meeting new people, letting go of old relationships. There's a lot of different possibilities that can come up with respect to what is happening in relationships when eclipses occur in the seventh house.

But you know, don't forget, I think the most important thing to remember is, don't forget that if you're not in any relationships, sometimes this will be about your social life and the level of intimacy or depth that you need in any kind of relationship, or things that are offering you some kind of feedback or mirroring for personal insight that are coming up through other people, that can also be very important when eclipses occur in the seventh. Letting go of old conflicts, resolving old karma in relationships. These are the kinds of things that I would watch for this year ahead, with eclipses forming in Virgo in the seventh for all of you Pisces out there. And tie it back to that 2015 to 17 period, if it makes sense.

So that takes us through all 12, and I hope that this equips you with a deeper understanding of what topics are being activated on this day of the eclipse. Remember, the eclipse came through overnight. So most of you listening to this will be reflecting on this today, and remember, very importantly, that eclipses come through over the course of about a year and a half, which means it's a long period of time within which the manifested results or events related to eclipses can occur. Often, they will occur when another planet transits over an eclipse point later in the year. So you want to pay attention to that 23rd degree of Virgo today and keep paying attention to it as the year goes on. That's the idea.
