Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we are going to continue our exploration of Jupiter's upcoming entrance into the sign of cancer by looking at the timeline of Jupiter's Synodic Cycle.
It's really interesting to note that just as Jupiter is entering the sign of cancer, it's going to receive the conjunction from the sun, which is effectively the death of Jupiter and the beginning of its new cycle.
I've talked about this in the past. Over the past couple of months, we looked at the death and rebirth of Saturn through its Synodic Cycle, and we've talked about what happens throughout the entire course of a Synodic Cycle with a few other planets this year, but we're going to look at it again today, from the standpoint of the cazimi that's upcoming between the sun and Jupiter.
This happens just as Jupiter enters cancer. What does this mean? And how is it related to the overall cycle of Jupiter with the sun over the past year? And then, how can you track this cycle moving forward?
I'm going to give you, in addition to kind of outlining the cycle, I'm also going to give you the date and time of the upcoming cazimi as the reset moment, and what to watch for around that cazimi, which, again, is happening just as soon as Jupiter enters cancer.
So that is our agenda for the day before we dive in, remember to like and subscribe. Make this a place for your daily spiritual practice. If that is something that is already happening and not yet subscribed, it helps us grow tremendously.
When you take a second to do that, you can find transcripts of any of these daily talks on the website, which is Nightlight astrology.com.
When you go over to the website, couple of promotions for the day. First of all, go to the events page. Click on in person events. We have a solstice gathering here in Minneapolis on June 21. RSVP to attend. It's free, facilitated by our Kickstarter.
We have a number of events that are free year round for people to attend. This is an in person time together for some meditation and reflection on the meaning of the solstice. Just RSVP so we know you're coming, we can bring enough supplies.
Then let's go to Speaker Series. June 7, eighth and 15th. Coming right up. We have our summer Speaker Series. This is also something where we do and make free and open to the public.
Through the Kickstarter, we're able to pay our speakers nicely and make these talks free because of all of your generosity and support of the channel. So check these out as well. Register and if you can't attend live, you get the recording afterward.
Go to live talks, and you'll see my next webinar for the month of June is coming up, Uranus and Gemini trine Pluto and Aquarius, when new objects appear in the sky. Register to attend that one on June 19, from seven to 9pm Eastern.
And if you can't attend live, to get the link, go to Courses page, first year course at the end of today's video, if you stick around, there is about a 12 minute informational video explaining everything that the first year course includes and is all about.
We have four years worth of astrological curriculum that can prepare you to read charts for other people, or if you're someone who loves astrology and it plays a daily part in your life, but you want to be a little bit more of your own astrologer, even if it's just something you do for yourself, personally, as a hobby.
This course is really going to give you a strong foundation in the basics of ancient Hellenistic astrology, and it's going to give you more of the skill and ability to be your own astrologer, day by day.
And I think that there's really no substitute for that. At some point, I recommend everyone who takes astrology seriously go through a reputable program. I think we have a great program. I'll tell you more about it after today's content.
The bottom of this page, you'll find the enrollment options. There is need based tuition. So if you're someone who'd like to take the program, but you need to work within a budget, this provides you with a sliding scale that you can work within.
We're very glad to offer that so that really, nobody's priced out of taking a program that will enhance your life on a spiritual level. We think that material like this should be accessible.
So on that note, let's now turn our attention to the real time clock and take a look at this Jupiter dynamic.
So what I want to do today is just kind of map out for you what's happening as soon as Jupiter enters the sign of cancer. It really is a special thing that's taking place.
So if we—I should, I should say first before I dive into this, we are here today, on Wednesday, June 4. So we are rapidly approaching the entrance of Jupiter into cancer, which happens on Monday the ninth.
Now, just as soon as Jupiter enters the sign of cancer, you'll notice that trailing right behind it is the sun entering the last decan—the last 10 degrees of Gemini.
As soon as the sun crosses into cancer, the two planets are preparing to conjoin. This is the death of Jupiter and the rebirth or reset of its Synodic Cycle.
Ancient astrologers literally envisioned this conjunction between the sun and any planet, or any planet and the sun, depending on whether it's a superior planet that moves slower than the sun, or an inferior planet that moves faster than the Sun—as a death for the planet conjoining the sun and its rebirth within the cycle.
Just like nature goes through cycles of life and death, winter and spring, planets go through the same thing in their synodic cycles with the sun.
So what's interesting is, within the first couple of degrees of entering the sign of cancer. Look at this. All of a sudden, the sun conjoins Jupiter exactly at three degrees of cancer.
This is about June 24, just after the summer solstice. So June 9, Jupiter enters cancer. June 24—mark your calendars for that day. It's a very powerful day.
We're going to be talking about it, of course, closer to that date on the channel. So we will refresh on this. So okay, in case you're like, I'm in the car, I can't write this down. Don't worry. We'll get back to it later.
But the point is that this is the death and the rebirthing moment of Jupiter.
Now, if this were in any other sign—well, not any other sign, but if this were in a sign that Jupiter didn't rule, that Jupiter was a guest in, say, Gemini—then this reset moment would be much more difficult for Jupiter.
When a planet is in its own sign, and it hits that synodic reset with the sun, the conjunction to the sun, it would typically be burnt up if it's not in its own sign, but if it's in its own sign or exaltation, then it's said to be protected by virtue of being in its chariot.
So even though this is a death and rebirth moment for Jupiter, it is genuinely a much more constructive moment of combustion, cazimi and reset for Jupiter here than it often is in that cycle.
You're only going to get three signs—Pisces, Sagittarius and Cancer—where the dignity sort of saves Jupiter from the combustion.
That's not to say that we're not going to still see a moment of death for Jupiter and rebirthing for Jupiter. It's just that Jupiter has a kind of built in protection or buffer against the more difficult significations of combustion—the close proximity to the Sun that sort of is thought to engulf a planet in the flames of death, and then its rebirth being a little bit more intense in that kind of dynamic.
So anyway, this cazimi—again, June 24. Now what I want to do for you right now is, let's go back over the past year, and let's revisit Jupiter's cycle with the sun.
The reason that I see this as an important exercise right now is that we have a reset moment between these two planets that also allows us an opportunity to reflect on their previous cycle.
So what I want to do is go back about a year, and we're going to watch the process. I'm going to come back and comment more on the upcoming cazimi and what to watch for with it.
But if we go forward just a little bit, you'll notice that when Jupiter enters Gemini around the end of May 2024—about a year ago—that it was also happening just at the time of a reset in its Synodic Cycle.
Now that reset actually happened in late Taurus, just prior to Jupiter entering Gemini. So here you can see, this is about May 18, of 2024, that the reset occurs.
There are different ways of tracking planets, right? You can track a planet through its entire process of moving through a whole sign house in your chart.
For example, over the past year, we've been talking recently on the channel about how you could reflect on Jupiter's time in Gemini.
There are so many different ways of tracking storylines or narrative arcs along the pathways of the planets. One of them is just house and sign. So we've done that, but look at this Synodic Cycle.
Think about where your life was in about the middle of May last year. From that moment forward, about May 18, Jupiter began a new cycle.
Now let's trace the development of that cycle. Shortly after the synodic reset, which would have been a little bit more difficult for Jupiter, because it was in Taurus, where it is not protected from the combustion.
So last May, there might have been a somewhat difficult moment of rebirthing. Well, what does that look like? Practically speaking, there are a few things that you can watch for.
I'll just take my screen down for a second. You know, this is again, some people, if you don't like this kind of memory work, this episode today may not be like the best one for you.
But if you go back to last May, the point is that you will be looking at a time for Jupiter where there's a reset occurring, and it's a little bit more challenging.
What that typically means—remembering Jupiter has to do with that word we used in yesterday's episode, teleology—a sense of the goal, direction and purpose of something that something is born for or made for or destined for, like the blueprint of the oak tree contained within the acorn.
Everything has an end or a purpose. This is sort of Jupiter's philosophy. This is the felt sense of faith that we talked about yesterday with Jupiter. There's a purpose to what's happening.
Well, when Jupiter is transiting throughout the year going through a sign in a house, it is developing a sense of purpose and direction.
It's developing our understanding of purpose and direction relative to a set of topics that match the whole sign house it's going through.
When we see the reset moment, what we're thinking about is a kind of a harder, deeper reset of meaning and purpose that's taking place—a philosophical understanding or development of the evolution of our learning and philosophizing about life and what conclusions we're coming to, or how the process of life is leading us along a path that is meant to be educational for the soul.
Jupiter sort of presides over all of that. So there's a reset in May that would have been slightly more challenging or difficult, or the early stages of which take it forward even like a month—go mid May to mid June of 2024—and you're dealing with a moment of learning and understanding that starts with that fiery feeling of death and rebirth.
Oh, I'm going through something that is going to gradually reset and reorient my understanding of life, the direction and purpose that I'm here for.
And then again, look at the house set of topics in Gemini in this case. So as that's happening, let's now return to the cycle so we can track this out a little bit more.
So you start by looking at that. You look at the whole sign house of Gemini, and you kind of consider maybe even from Taurus to Gemini, if you wanted to go over two houses, from the combustion and cazimi moment at very late Taurus into early Gemini.
There's a kind of transition of learning, direction, purpose that's taking place. Now, if we take this forward, what we're going to do is we're going to look at the process that occurs through the retrograde.
So you know that Jupiter is going to turn retrograde after the conjunction, because it will reach a trine when the sun goes into the sign of the same element as Jupiter, or very close to a degree based trine.
That is your little hint that Jupiter is about to change directions, and after the conjunction, that will mean it turns retrograde.
So this conjunction moment between the two planets—or excuse me, the change of direction—takes place about the early part of October.
So you can see this. You can see Jupiter stationing right there as the sun is approaching the trine. Early part of October should have been a moment where maybe the path that you thought you were on, or the direction or purpose that things were taking, or the kind of the shape and path that was in front of you suddenly took an unexpected turn, or maybe experienced a moment of delay, or a feeling of meaningful obstacles starting to enter the path and reconfigure things.
I can track this very interestingly, because it was all taking place in my second house, and I'll just give you a little brief way of how I tracked this.
So in the middle of May, into June, when the reset was taking place, I was in the midst of—this is taking place in my second house.
The second house, in addition to things like money and business—and there's a whole arc I could track there in terms of some of the things I've learned over the past year, and as a business owner, for example, a lot of really interesting lessons that I think I learned.
But more specifically, for the second house, what I've tracked out is the second house has a lot to do with how you build and develop material resources that lead to comfort, ease and a feeling of support.
The second house is sometimes referred to as a place of self sufficiency, and it's also related to diet, in terms of the resources that you have materially that support your very well being on a physical level.
The second house is associated with food and diet. In June and in May, into June, I was going through a process in my bodybuilding regime where I started to realize that I needed to get even more dialed in with my diet.
And that's a progressive part of the hobby of bodybuilding, is to get more and more refined and sensitive to what does and doesn't work in the body.
So I went through some big aha moments that weren't necessarily easy in May and June, around what was working and what wasn't working in my diet, things I was sensitive to and so forth.
In October—mid October—that process reached a culminating moment where I had to switch coaches. I just realized that the coach wasn't a match.
So there it is, right along the lines of the station to retrograde in my second house. So you can track this out too.
Again, look at mid May to June. What kind of shift in direction and purpose relative to the house topics of Gemini were taking place, and then around early October, Jupiter's changing directions.
Again, look at what was a period of revision or reflection upon what you had started learning back in May or June, or maybe a change of direction that's now implementing itself after initial lessons learned.
Okay, so then we keep tracking. We're going to go through this really important moment in the cycle where the sun then opposes Jupiter.
So the opposition is sort of like the full moon of the cycle. This should really be where things are kind of fully blossoming.
And not surprisingly, it was right around this time with the new coach that I found, after the October retrograde, that we started implementing some very fine tuned dietary changes in my life that he helped me figure out over the first couple of months of really investigating what was going on in my program.
So again, this might all be pretty stupid to you guys. It was a big deal to me, because it's really a big hobby of mine, but I was really impressed with the kind of synthesis of information that he took after looking at how things were going over a couple of months.
And then we fine tuned the plan right here at the full moon. But you could look and say to yourself, wherever it lands in your chart, like, what within the journey of Jupiter in the past year, in that sign of Gemini, what was sort of peaking around early December?
This is a moment where, in a sense, the process of learning and the way that Jupiter is directing our life and reorienting our sense of purpose and direction in the biggest way, but also relative to the topics, is reaching this kind of full moon moment.
Now we go forward a little bit more, and we're going to see that the next whole sign trine shifts, Jupiter directions—whole sign degree based—it's coming through right about here.
You can see the connection between the sun and Jupiter while Jupiter's retrograde, the trine is present again, and so we're going to shift directions.
And now Jupiter's direct. And that direct motion comes between late January and early February. The exact station to turn direct is right about February 4.
And then we're at this point now—Jupiter turns direct. I think it's really interesting. Like, one of the things that happened throughout the year was—this is a silly thing. Like, it really is just, like, so basic, but like, just switching topics out of the bodybuilding part of my life and into the second house as a place of business, through a process of learning and reflecting upon things.
We had been located on the east coast in DC, and then we moved to what is home for both of us, back home in Minnesota.
It was around this time that I realized that it was going to be more advantageous for us, for a variety of reasons, to work with an accountant and a CPA that was based here in Minnesota that understood the tax laws of our state better than someone who is still located on the opposite coast.
You know what I mean? Simple. It wasn't—there was the other—the other CPA was really nice person, so it wasn't like a conflict or anything, but it's just like this adjustment.
Of course, Aquarius is my 10th, and Jupiter is my second. So just adjusting who we were hiring to work with, for bookkeepers, for our work, and tech, an accountant, tax account and all that.
So that shifted right as Jupiter turned direct in February. Isn't that cool? And also, this is the other thing. The implementation of the plan with my trainer, as Jupiter turned direct, was reaching its peak in terms of achieving the results that we wanted to achieve.
And I noted that in my astrological journal, oh, look, Jupiter is turning direct. And this new plan that we implemented through revision of the previous diet is achieving the intended results that my trainer thought—the new trainer thought it would.
And now I'm just going to have to see this through for a while, as the plan is sort of doing its work, but it's now starting to—under the change of direction, we're actually starting to see the results that we want to see, and that has to do with body composition and stuff like that.
So it's pretty like, I don't know, it's probably pretty boring. Again, I don't mean to bore you with all that.
But so then if we go forward and track that out, look at the whole sign house of Gemini. You'll see it's remarkable how the story works.
Now, if we come forward—third, right? Jupiter's been direct, humming along now—this is where we get to the reset, June 24, so coming up very soon, we have another reset moment.
The nice thing about this reset is that, unlike last year's reset, that happens while Jupiter is like lit on fire without any dignity, this Jupiter is exalted, which means the reset should be relatively more peaceful or calm or smooth.
It's a transition into a new chapter that begins, maybe even with a sense of an exalted new beginning. Jupiter's exalted in this sign—the new beginning that's promised here with Jupiter's new cycle, maybe reorienting our life with just an aura of emotional happiness around it, as well as all the themes of Jupiter and Cancer that we've been talking about.
The cazimi to me really strikes me as uplifting. When the sun is infusing its light into an exalted Jupiter, it's probably going to look and feel like significantly easier turn of the page or chapter than last year's did.
So again, I know I always feel kind of bad doing these episodes, because I know like 50% of the audience is probably like, this is too much for me to track.
But I also do know that there are enough intermediate and advanced students out there that really benefit from this kind of tracking, or that just enjoy it more, and so I like to provide them from time to time.
But let me give you five things that are very practical. In case you don't like any of the tracking I've gone through. You're tired of hearing me talk about my stupid bodybuilding machines. I get it. You're like, shut the f up and tell me.
So anyway, here's what the cazimi brings that anyone could benefit from knowing going into this June 24 upcoming cazimi with Jupiter in Cancer.
Remember, Jupiter enters cancer Monday. If you wanted to go back yesterday, you could look at a bunch of themes and topics for that upcoming ingress on its own.
We're going to do horoscopes tomorrow. But for now, here's what the cazimi brings on the 24th.
Anytime that the sun is infusing its light in a planet at the outset of a Synodic Cycle, that planet, relative to its own nature, is infused with new images, new intention, new direction, new purpose from the sun.
That's a funny thing to think about when it comes to the sun and Jupiter, because both planets actually have a lot to do with that word teleology.
Just the sun and Jupiter, just like can both represent many of the same things—wisdom. The sun was in its joy in the ninth house, the place of wisdom.
But Jupiter also associated with the gradual accumulation of life experience and wisdom. So the two planets actually share a lot in common when it comes to that sense of direction and purposefulness.
When the sun infuses its light into Jupiter, there's a very clear, direct sense of ambition, purpose resetting, or of understanding.
And that felt sense of what life is about in terms of our values or our philosophical approach to life being reset—so an infusion of new images and ideals that will light the way and guide and direct our sense of purpose for the entirety of the next year with Jupiter in Cancer.
You know, watch for these things on June 24. Number two would be completion of a cycle and harvesting.
What often happens right as this reset is taking place, is you'll also get this feeling of having gained or learned or downloaded the lessons of the entire last cycle.
It's not uncommon for people to feel like there's a feeling of a new beginning taking place while simultaneously you feel as though you're harvesting or sort of putting a little bow around the previous cycle.
So watch for that feeling of things completing, or of gathering insights and integrating experiences from the entirety of the last year—again, going back to like May, June of 2024.
Then you have failure and exhaustion. Now not as much, because Jupiter's protected in its chariot, but as the sun comes through, there is a feeling of, huh, like I've reached the end of a process with this one.
I think that the acute sense of exhaustion, depletion, the breakdown of something, and the emergence of new evolutionary purpose and understanding is not going to be nearly as rough.
Meaning, you probably wouldn't see as much of a sense of breakdown, failure, depletion, exhaustion, with this cazimi, as you would with others, but still, you may notice that you're just sort of reaching the end of your gas tank is on empty.
But don't be surprised if gradually, over the next couple of weeks, after the cazimi separates, that you feel that the tank is being filled up again with a real nice Jupiter in Cancer.
Again, I don't see this being a huge issue. Number four would be seedings, initiatives and inceptions.
It is not at all uncommon, especially within, again, an exalted Jupiter, the cazimi and a very fertile sign, like Cancer—sign that is associated with birth—for there to be seeding, inceptions, conceptions, initiatives, anything that starts something or gets something going.
And probably what comes with it is a new enthusiasm or energy or charisma. This is a very emotional sign. Jupiter in the sign of Cancer can grant the sense of bigness and fullness of purpose and direction.
So don't be surprised if around the 24th, in addition to feeling like something new is getting started, even if it's just sort of gestating in a place of ideas and new feelings and new hopes or aspirations, that this new energy is going to come forth in the next month or two, as well as the sun separates from Jupiter.
Jupiter rises as a morning star, and from that position, we'll start to see the rising of Jupiter as the morning star in its exaltation, really announcing the birth of like a new story arc in our life.
Now what we're going to do tomorrow to fill all of this out is to do some whole sign horoscopes. That way you get this real clear sense of where the infusion of new images and ideals, or the completion of a cycle harvesting, where you might be feeling a turn of the page or chapter in terms of the topics.
So today, again, if the tracking is not your thing, listen to yesterday's video, because we do just a lot more mundane coverage of the archetype.
And then tomorrow we'll do horoscopes for those of you who need some reminders or some guidance with respect to the house position.
So anyway, that's it for today. After I sign off here, there will be an informational video about the upcoming year one program.
We start June 22. It's a really auspicious election for the start of our course this year, because we've got Uranus and Pluto entering into an airy trine, Jupiter, the god of wisdom and its exaltation.
Like, this June program has one of the nicest elections around it of the past couple of years. So that's also the 30th program we've done, kind of a nice number.
So I hope to see some of you there. If you have any questions after you listen to it, you can always email us with those questions. Info at Nightlight astrology.com.
All right, have a good day, everyone. We'll see you again tomorrow. Bye.
