Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Happy Monday, everybody! Today we're going to take a look at Jupiter in Leo opposing Pluto in Aquarius. In my opinion, this is the biggest planetary opposition of 2026. It's a transit we've been talking about for a while on the channel now, probably a whole month back. Taking a look at it, I looked at it several times, even over the winter, sort of previewing this month of July as maybe the most epic month of astrology in 2026.
It's been eventful so far, for sure. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. So I can't wait to get into this today. I've got a list of five things to watch for that'll help us just kind of rehash the major archetypal themes of Jupiter opposite Pluto, and then I've got some horoscopes that we'll do across the oppositions of signs. So we'll do sign axis horoscopes for pairs of rising signs, and I have some notes that I hope will be useful for you to maybe help you identify the activity of the planets in your life right now.
Okay, well let's get into it. But before we do, don't forget to like and subscribe. It really helps us grow. It's free to do so, and it's how we sustain and grow what we're doing. So we really appreciate it. You can find transcripts of any of these daily talks, as always, on our website nightlightastrology.com. I'm going to take you over there right now because coming up, I have a monthly webinar taking place this Thursday evening called "The Dark Side of Astrology: Malefics Eclipses and Retrogrades."
If you want to check that out, you can register there. The webinar is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Eastern time this Thursday night. If you can't attend live, you will get the recording afterward. If you do attend live, you get the recording afterward. So hope to see some of you there. We're going to talk about why these particular transits are so scary. Why does everyone get freaked out by them? What is there to legitimately be a little worried about with these, and why?
But then also, what is the healing potential in each one of these? Specifically, how do eclipses heal? How do retrogrades heal? How do transits from Saturn or Mars or any of the difficult outer planets like Pluto, at times a difficult planet, how do they heal? So I hope you'll enjoy this. The other thing I want to mention, of course, my book is on sale. Go to the My Books tab. You'll see the Oracle Speaks. You can order my new book.
It's everything I know about astrology put into stories, and I think you'll really enjoy it. So check that out. And thank you to everyone for giving me good reviews on Amazon. I really appreciate it. It helps me get the word out there. So thanks if you have a second, do that. To do that, if you read it and like it, I appreciate it. You can also go to the events page and click on Community Quiet.
Every single day at Nightlight, we have free meditation. You can join us seven days a week and meditate in community. It's really really nice. We have one day a week on Sundays where we actually get together and share, you know, a little bit of our process, what's going on, a little bit of group processing. Very healing, really really positive group of people that I think you'll really like. So check that out. It's free. It's every day. You can find more information on that page.
Okay, let's put up Nachepso. You guys know Nachepso is the official astrology software program of Nightlight. We're an affiliate, and you can get 20% off if you want to check this awesome program out. It has everything you could possibly need. Plus, it's from astrologers, by astrologers, for astrologers, incorporating new technology. There's going to be an AI feature built into this program that doesn't use data centers that runs off your local power that will be there as a kind of research assistant for astrologers who want to research transits and do all sorts of stuff.
And I really appreciate that someone is doing this because there are people that don't care at all about astrology, investing a lot of money now into our software with AI, and I care that people are thinking about the inevitability of this kind of software, but finding ways of doing it that are ethical, sustainable, and that keep astrologers doing the astrology. So check them out, and each episode is great. They're going to come on again later this summer, but you can get the affiliate discount code 20% off in the comments or description of the video.
Okay, let's get into it. So we got Jupiter opposite Pluto today. I'm going to back this up right now. You're seeing on the screen the 21st. It's the 20th Monday, the 20th, and this is the day between now and tomorrow. You'll see that between today, Monday, July 20th, and Tuesday, July 21st, Jupiter and Pluto will be exact. Now they've been building up this month, so you probably have been noticing and feeling some of these things for a while.
But you don't get their full separation of a degree all the way until the 25th of July, and then if we stretch this forward a little bit, we're going to have a major full moon at the end of the month. That's on the 29th, I believe, and that full moon is conjoined Pluto while the Sun is also Cazimi with Jupiter. It's a big transit. So today, what we want to do is just review the basics of the opposition, give you some things to watch for, and then I've got some horoscopes for you that I hope will really sort of take this information from archetypal to more practical and applicable for your life personally.
Okay, well, let's begin with some basic five things to watch for. Love my list of five. These are in no particular order. The first one that I would watch for with Jupiter opposite Pluto is personal purpose and collective belonging. Now, this is taking into consideration that Jupiter is in Leo and Pluto is in Aquarius, so we're talking about paradigm shifts with Jupiter and Pluto because Jupiter is often connected to our beliefs and how we carry with us a sense of meaning and purpose.
Liz Greene wrote extensively, and we talked recently on the channel about Jupiter and the word teleology, and from Jupiter's standpoint, life has coherence. There is a sense inherent in the acorn that its destiny is to become an oak tree, and so the sense that we live with that life has a purpose, that the universe is meaningful, that there's coherence and understanding and wisdom, and you can grow and learn. This is very Jupitarian. This is why Jupiter is sometimes called the guru.
Now, Pluto's perspective on teleology, or the ultimate end of something, is that we learn what everything is. We learn most by the destiny of death and impermanence, and it's really just that the two planets, Hades and Zeus, are brothers, and they are kind of like inverted perspectives of the same thing. It's like think about the near-death experience, the life review. You learn everything there is to know through the experiences you have of dying in multiple lifetimes, from the perspective of transmigration philosophy.
Every lifetime that you die, in the moment of death, you sort of understand everything that was meant by the life. It's the death that teaches. Two different perspectives on the same process of growth and understanding and wisdom. So we have two planets contacting through opposition that can create major paradigmatic change in our understanding of meaning. That change can come through how meaning is being constructed as well as how things are dying at the exact same time that they come into contact.
Sometimes that will mean that something is being granted greater coherence in meaning, specifically because things are dying. When things die, new meaning emerges rapidly. Think about how often it is that when you lose someone or you lose something that's very painful and there's a lot of grief, often your life philosophy becomes so much more coherent, and very quickly, upon losing someone within a year, you might have a completely different perspective on life and a new set of goals, or ambitions, or priorities.
Anyway, making this a little bit more distilled, personal purpose and collective belonging. For Leo, we might say that a certain sense of what is my personal sense of destiny? What makes me feel special and unique? Where is my personal sunshine? Where is the path of life leading me as a unique individual apart from every other individual? Just like the sun is sort of a solo light in the sky, Leo ruled, of course, by the sun. On the other hand, Pluto in Aquarius asks Jupiter in Leo, "Where does collective tension, pressure, belonging fit into that equation?"
So that could mean that an old definition of success is no longer important to you, or a sense of authority, purpose, meaning, legacy, destiny, specialness is changing because something is asking you to change or adapt socially in some way, and collective pressures can force you to be more authentic individually. When people place pressure on you, say to conform, and you say I resist conformity, that can be very appropriate for something like this. So the point is, where does personal expression and collective belonging overlap right now? The paradigm might be changing along those lines.
Number two would be power changing hands. This is a moment where authority, legacy, institutions, leaderships, regimes, organizations can change leadership or leadership structures. Who has influence can change. Who has authority? Authority can change. Who is the teacher? How is the institution governed? Who are its stars? So relationships and institutions, communities and organizations. Who has influence? Who has power? Those kinds of exchanges, power transfers or transitions of power can become really loud around this dynamic.
Number three would be creative courage and social pressure, kind of like the first one. But let me just say, let's put it this way: Leo says, you know, do something from your heart, and Pluto in Aquarius says that doesn't fit in here. It's not the right, you know. Aquarius can be incredibly conformist, even though a lot of the times we think of Aquarius as rebellious, or we think of Aquarius as progressive. But a Saturn ruled sign, it can actually represent the status quo and popularity and trends and social habits that everyone just buys into and doesn't think twice about.
It can be groupthink, in other words, and Leo can be very individualistic. On the other hand, Leo can want every traditional version of success imaginable, and Aquarius can reject that in favor of, you know, who cares about your ego? It doesn't matter if you fit in or not. Let's be rebellious. So both signs actually are capable of conformity or rebellion, but in different ways. But the creative courage versus social pressure, I think, is just asking us right now where the need to be a part and where the need to fit in overlaps. So just kind of a different way of spinning the same image.
Number four, growth requires letting go of attachments. Pluto loves to strip us down. You know, you can't go into the underworld with your clothes on. You know, when you die, you're back to your birthday outfit, and you can't take anything with you. And so, if we want to grow, if we want to become the next version, or if we want to become the next iteration of our blazing, beautiful heart, it may require some relinquishment. Something being some form of transformation vis-à-vis letting go.
Pluto requires sacrifice, and Jupiter wants growth. So the two come together and say, "If you sacrifice, you will grow." It can be that simple, where the biggest, boldest thing comes from some transformative pressure to let go. All right. Well, number five is the meaning of success is redefined, which I mentioned in another talk we did. Authentic living in the center of your heart may suddenly become weirdly for Leo less about external validation.
I think the best that Leo says to us is, "Your heart is what makes you special, and the external validation is secondary, and the sense of being received like a celebrity in your own heart, just by virtue of being your own special self, that outweighs all of the celebration you could receive, you know, from the world." That's a kind of radical idea, really, because most of us don't actually live by it. We love to think we live that way, but we don't, and I don't either.
I wouldn't be on freaking YouTube, you know, if I had that all figured out. But I think the point is that my daughters make fun of me because they go, "Daddy, you always say the point is." Now I'm like, so they've been teasing me about it lately. So now every time I say it, I think of them making fun of me. The point is, the point is that it might be about saying to ourselves that what I used to need in some form of external validation is shifting dramatically because I'm becoming more confident in who I am internally, and that may allow for social adaptation or it may allow us to get out of certain kinds of social structures of validation.
Either way, all right. Well, I want to get into some horoscopes today as well. So we're going to take these by axis pairs, working with the purusharthas and the topics of the houses together. The purusharthas, the Indian philosophical meanings of the houses. I love these. I think they work really well. We're going to do them by axis, which means we're going to talk about these in flip flop ways as activating the same things. They really do, and so you'll see what I mean as we go.
So we're going to start with Aries Libra. So if you're an Aries rising or Libra rising, you are going to have the pairing of Jupiter and Pluto in your fifth and 11th houses. If you're Aries, it'll be Jupiter in the fifth, Pluto in the 11th. If you're Libra, it'll be Jupiter in the 11th, Pluto in the fifth. But the axis is the same, which means the inherent tensions are the same. And I like doing it this way because I think sometimes it just keeps it a little bit simpler and can be less confusing.
So, in the fifth house and in the 11th house, we have two areas of life that are in the 12-letter alphabet of modern astrology: the natural houses of Leo and Aquarius, right? But in ancient astrology, the fifth house is associated with Dharma, which means like your creative essence, and we know exactly what we are not just by being what we are, but by creating from the essence of what we are. This is why the fifth house is associated with your creative essence, as in your children.
Your children are a reflection of your creative dharma. Okay, so, but any of your children, your creative acts, are all like little children metaphorically. The book you write, the music you perform, whatever you do creatively, and it doesn't have to be an art project. It can just be acting from your creative center. This is part of what defines our happiness in life: acting from our creative essence and discovering what that is through trial and error.
We create and we go, "Hmm, that didn't really feel like me." So then we refine how we create and we go, "Oh, that really I made something that really felt like me," and that making of something is an every moment of every day activity because we're always creating, we're always participating in creation, but getting to know who we are through our creative participation and the creative feedback of the universe is a topic of the fifth house.
Well, the 11th house, a Kama house, has to do with the need that every living being has for social happiness and social inclusion and a sense of achieving things that are socially validated and recognizable and celebrated. Popularity would be maybe a simple version, but the 11th house can also be about the dreams and aspirations you have and hope to achieve out in the world externally, usually related to things like career or social status or standing. That can look a million different ways for people.
Therefore, the 11th house is associated with things like groups, communities, dreams, hopes, aspirations, social pleasure and happiness, a sense of belonging in public domains of people, and so put these two planets together, and we have almost identical to what we were talking about archetypally, and again, that's going to be because of the 12-letter alphabet conflation of the fifth with Leo and 11th with Aquarius in modern astrology.
It sounds that way to you, but it's basically that your creative calling might ask you to separate from certain social expectations or friendships, or groups or communities that don't support your sense of who you are, and there could be a kind of death in that. It could also be that there are just meaningful opportunities for collaboration that are changing or shifting and offering a better match for the creative being that you are.
Oh, this collaboration, this group, this community, this dream revision, this application of my creative abilities in this social setting will bring greater happiness. Whatever continues to give you genuine joy may require that you shift or change who and how you seek approval, and I think what we're looking for ultimately is a balance in oppositional tensions between creative essence and social belonging, social participation, social happiness in these houses. So if you're an Aries or a Libra, that's where the tension is arriving right now.
Okay, let's go to the next sign. We have Taurus and Scorpio. Now the Taurus Scorpio axis is going to have for Taurus Jupiter in the fourth, Pluto in the 10th. If you're Scorpio rising, it's going to be Jupiter in the 10th and Pluto in the fourth. These are Moksha and Artha houses. The fourth being the Moksha, the 10th being the Artha. Moksha in the fourth house means the release from the world, the private sphere, the internal sphere, home and family. It's an inner life that's separate from the public world. It's a resting place.
Now the 10th house is going to be your power, influence, notoriety, rank, vocation, public identity, and in the world. So those two places are always in a kind of archetypal tension with one another and a philosophical tension. We all need a private internal sphere that's separate from the world, where we have our own little metaphorical bedroom and living room. We also need a place that we come from, our roots, and then where do we go out in the world relative to our roots is always a conversation.
But if you're a Taurus or a Scorpio, these two houses are activated during this time, which means that your professional ambitions are changing relative to internal family private dynamics. Your private life is asking your public life to reform in the shape of its evolution, and the public sphere is asking your private sphere to develop and evolve relative to the changes that it's creating in your vocational or public life. So those two areas are at the heart of the conversation right now: private healing, public direction, the desire for achievement countered by the desire for privacy or rest, or inner security or inner peacefulness, something like that.
And I'm sorry because I forgot to change. There's Taurus Scorpio. You got the banner for two seconds. Otherwise, that's all you get. All right, Gemini Sagittarius. Sorry, I forgot to change it. Gemini Sagittarius. We have Jupiter in the third, Pluto in the ninth. If you're a Gemini, if you're Sagittarius, of course it's flipped, and you're going to have Jupiter in the ninth, Pluto in the third. Excuse me, but that's a Kama Dharma axis again.
Kama and Dharma means that we have, well, let's talk about Kama first. In the third house, everyone needs to feel a sense of happiness and well-being psychologically. Everyone has a subjective ego center, mind psychology, and perceptual or cognitive framework that is unique to your ego structure, to your time, space, body. In the ninth house, we have Dharma, which in Kama, by the way, that means bliss or pleasure. You immediately want to have a happy operating ego mind connection.
Like, just is it enjoyable to inhabit my own mind? You know, my own moods, my own emotions, my own inner sphere, and that's the subject of Kama in the third house. It's also why it was called the joy of the moon in Hellenistic astrology, because the moon refers to that kind of inner psychological and mental dimension. The mind-body connection was related to the moon. Now, in the ninth house, we're talking about Dharma, which means what is true about reality.
Whether you're a physicist or a mystic, I like to say, you're interested in a kind of truth, in what is true, true, true, capital T. Now the third house is a little bit like the lowercase t. What is true for my little subjective ego center within reality, right? And they don't have to negate one another. It might sound like the ninth is superior, but actually they're both. You're a part of the universe, so your truth, your experience, your subjective center of awareness and perception is also a part of the universe.
So when Gemini and Sag are rising, we have this third and ninth house axis activated right now, and that can mean that your ego, your personal internal mind and psychology, is being asked to change because you're becoming aware of higher truth, and so an ego revision is needed. It could be, on the other hand, that you're gaining the confidence to respect and appreciate your own perspective, and therefore starting to question things that maybe you took on authority at a previous point in life.
For example, someone questioning the religion they grew up in would be very appropriate for this, gaining a little bit of confidence and saying, "Maybe I can explore outside the doors of the dogma that I was raised with." So also, the search for meaning and wisdom that's both personal and somehow universal feels like a good synthesis for right now, and then what is psychologically meaningful to you personally, and how does that orient your larger sense of beliefs or purpose? This is also a good transit for things like writing, teaching, education, learning, skill development, changing beliefs or worldviews, things like that.
All right, let's go forward to Cancer and Capricorn. So for the Cancer, Capricorn axis, if you're Cancer rising, Jupiter's going to be in the second, Pluto in the eighth, and if you're a Capricorn rising, then Jupiter's going to be in the eighth and Pluto in the second. Now, with that Cancer Capricorn axis, we're talking about Artha in the second house and Moksha in the eighth house. So, when we think about personal assets, personal resources, personal security, and material things that support or prop up our existence—food, clothing, money—all of these things, we're talking about the second house.
Everyone has concern with financial or material security, well-being, happiness, possessions, etc. On the other hand, the Moksha of the eighth house is about the fact that everything that we possess, physically or materially, will be relinquished at some point. It will have to be let go of. So what we come into possession of will eventually be released, and so we have a Moksha house that means relinquishment of attachment.
The Moksha here can also be about when we're struggling or suffering because of a lack of assets or aid, and we're liberated from that struggle because someone or something blesses us. Someone or something adds to our wealth, like an inheritance, you know. So the eighth can be taxation, you know, that takes your money, but it can also be inheritance that blesses your bottom line. So relinquishment of attachments and facilitating greater freedom through the give and take and exchange of resources and values is what we're talking about across the second and eighth house.
Now, for that, it could mean that what you have is being relinquished. What you are willing to share or release is changing in some way. I'm willing to share something I wasn't before. Or I'm asking for something I need help with. There can be financial changes that reveal different kinds of emotional attachments, and there can be relinquishment of control so that things can be better or more equally distributed, shared assets, resources, duties, expenditures, responsibilities, but I would say material stability and emotional liberation are being renegotiated somehow.
Okay, so that's if you're Cancer or Capricorn. Now let's go on to Leo Aquarius. Leo Aquarius puts these two houses, these two planets in the first or the seventh. Jupiter in Leo, if you're a Leo rising, with Pluto in the seventh; if you're an Aquarius, it's Pluto in the first, Jupiter in the seventh. I like this as a kind of let's call it an important moment in relationships and in personal growth and development. The first house Dharma means what is my essence? What am I? Who am I? What is my nature, and how is my nature evolving?
Just in my self-contained way, but it is inevitably attached to Kama, which means the bliss or pleasure that I seek in relating to other people, which everybody does. And so, part of my selfhood is dependent, and part of it is independent, and the two things exist simultaneously. So, with Leo or Aquarius, we're talking about relationships are changing because your identity is evolving. It's just classic. Your personal purpose is asking for different kinds of relationships or changes made within existing relationships.
The desire to fully be yourself is encountering the need to adapt or change along other lines of other people's needs. Sorry, having a hard time articulating myself on that one. Authentic self-expression. Jupiter in Leo in the first house. Who am I? What makes me feel good, confident, strong, happy, full of heart? Pluto in the seventh. How am I being asked to grow or change? Look at my ego. You know, evolve personally, so that I am not the only center of the reality that other people are too.
So the growth comes through the negotiation of self and other, and that dynamic can be a power struggle, or it can be a kind of beautiful dance, or a little bit of both, perhaps. That's what to look for if you're a Leo. Who am I? Who am I becoming? What do I need to be? And how does that change who I'm with, or what relationships are, what they need to be, or how are relationships completely changing my sense of who I am? Either way, all right.
Let's go forward to last but not least, Virgo Pisces. This is if you're Virgo, Jupiter in the 12th, Pluto in the sixth. If you're a Pisces, it's going to be Pluto in the 12th, Jupiter in the sixth. Either way, we're with Moksha and Artha again. The 12th house is liberation from the world, from the ego, from materiality, from control. It's the great Moksha of the jiva muktas, the bodhisattvas. This is the liberation that comes for all evolving souls eventually, according to these ancient wisdom traditions.
As we grow and heal and learn, we sort of develop a light body. Let's say that that's true because I believe it is, but who knows? But let's say it is true. Then, the glow up spiritually could be quite profound with Jupiter in Leo in the 12th house. It's like realizing there's a saint working on your behalf in your unconscious, and that saint is maybe you or maybe it's an archangel. I don't know, but either way, there is something working to help you liberate into a more beautiful, complete, full sense of who you are.
That might come because of the encounter with Pluto in the sixth, the Artha house. Artha has to do with the obligations of the material world. It's a chop wood, carry water kind of place. It is a work hard under the sun if you want to pay the bills and stay alive. Sixth house is about material work, labor, sacrifice, discipline, duty, hardship, overcoming it, persevering. That's why it was called the joy of Mars. That life involves that is not an indictment, right? It's just that's just life.
Life in the material universe is like a boiling cauldron. There's a lot of heat, and you have to labor to be alive. You're gonna crush ants on your way to the car that you don't even know about, you know. Even if you believe yourself to be a vegetarian, I like to say there are still living beings. Life eats life. That's the sixth house perspective on the world. I'm not saying that's the only perspective, right? But that's a kind of sixth house perspective. It's hard to be here. There's work to be done. There's sacrifices to be made.
Do you have something higher that all of this is working toward? That can mean that right now, the two places are coming together to say that the difficulties that are coming up are facilitating greater confidence, greater awareness, greater release, greater liberation. But it could feel like a healing crisis. It might be that you need to just completely back out of a certain kind of work or labor or effort or sacrifice that has been draining, and get the confidence to just take some time off.
It could be that you are needing to change, in other words, your relationship to things like duty, work, labor, sacrifice, and that doing so might mean entering a period of faithful uncertainty. It's like I don't know what's next, but I can't be doing this because it's draining me and it's killing me. So work and obligation have to genuinely serve healing and facilitation of enlightenment. And I'm not saying I know which version of our lives is the version of hard work that facilitates enlightenment and which isn't, because I don't always know.
I get lost on that myself quite regularly, but I do know that that conversation is probably important right now if you're a Virgo or a Pisces. And I would say transforming burden into meaningful service, spiritual acts of sacrifice, greater causes, and putting things into perspective. If I'm going to be alive in this world where there's so much difficulty, then it better be at least for some noble, enlightening things. That's what comes to my mind. There could also be something to do with just situations that feel like they're really overwhelming or out of your control that you have to face and kind of work through right now.
Faith, confidence, trust, a degree of surrender, but don't underestimate the power of taking some alone time, some private space to reset. So that's my message for Virgo or Pisces. All right. So I think those are some useful horoscopes. At least I hope they are. I hope that you're having a great day today. Whatever is going on in the world, aren't we lucky that we can make our way through life and that we actually have evidence? I believe this to be true, anyway.
That we actually have evidence that we are in an intelligent, meaningful cosmos that is sentient, that is alive, that communicates through these living patterns, and that just somehow wants to affirm to us that you may not understand everything, but there are no mistakes going on here. You're okay. Every time I do this and I see these things playing out, and I know the general archetypal patterns, but then the specific ways they play out is always so enlivening and so beautiful.
And I feel so fortunate to have a language that can help me just navigate the boat of life a little bit, even with just a little view of the stars. You know, it could be pretty misty, but we have a view of the stars. We have a helmsman in the art of Hermes that's with us, and I think we should feel so thankful for that. I know I try to, even when I'm totally messing up everything.
Because even my mess ups seem to be there in the stars. So, so, so I guess that gives us a little humor or a little assurance that it's okay to be learning. It's okay to be stumbling along.
