What happens when the planet of expansion meets the point of release in the sign of the heart? Over the next year, Jupiter and the South Node travel together through Leo, bringing a profound paradox: the call to grow your light while being asked to let go of the need to be seen. This is not about dimming your radiance—it's about discovering which parts of your pride are real and which are just performance.
In this video, we explore the Jupiter-South Node conjunction in Leo and what it asks of you. With the nodes shifting into the Leo-Aquarius axis, eclipses on the horizon, and Jupiter opposing Pluto, we are entering a karmic window that will test and refine your relationship to leadership, recognition, and your own sovereign heart. The question isn't whether you will shine—it's what you're willing to release in order to shine truly.
If you find yourself questioning old ambitions, feeling the weight of external validation, or sensing that your purpose is becoming more by becoming less—this is the astrology of your soul's refinement. Join me as we walk through what to watch for, and why the throne of your heart was never something you needed to earn.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we're going to take a look at Jupiter in the sign of Leo, alongside of the South Node in the sign of Leo, which is going to be happening shortly here, and we're going to get several eclipses over the next year and a half or so in the sign of Leo that will coincide with Jupiter's time there.
This means that we're in a very powerful Jupiter South Node karmic window, and what does that mean? What does that mean for us? What might some of the lessons, what might be some of the lessons that we're going to learn while these two bodies are together.
The South Node of the moon is thought of as a shadowy planet called Ketu in Indian astrology, an astronomical point in ancient Western astrology, that is associated with eclipses, but either way, the pairing of Jupiter and the South Node in Leo ought to be really interesting.
And since those two planets are starting right now in the midst of a powerful Jupiter and Leo opposition to Pluto, I figure it's a good time to talk about it, because we're likely to see some of these first lessons coming up here when Jupiter opposes Pluto. So that's going to be our subject for today.
Before we get into it, as always, remember to like and subscribe. Takes a second to click the subscribe button, it's free to do so, and it really helps us tremendously grow and sustain what we do. You can find transcripts of any of these daily talks on our website, that's nightlightastrology.com
Just a few brief promotions today before we get into our content. Go over to the shop page, click on my books, you'll see my book, The Oracle Speaks, is out. I'm currently working on the audible version of the book, that'll be out later this summer, in case you're interested.
But you can find the links to purchase there directly from our press with the US only link, use that, that helps us. Otherwise, if you're outside of the US, you can use Amazon as well, and leave us a review, or tag us with a picture of yourself in the book on Instagram at Nightlight Astrology, that would be nice.
Go to the events page and click on monthly webinars. Coming up on July 23 6:30 Eastern, I'm giving a talk called The Dark Side of Astrology: Malefics, Eclipses, and Retrogrades.
We're going to talk about these ominous astrological transits and why they're difficult and why they're also good for us in a, in a certain, in a certain way, these transits are some of the most important that we'll receive. So we're hoping to give a well-rounded talk on what makes these difficult and what can be so healing about them as well.
Anyhow, when you register for that, you get the link to join the webinar. If you can't make the live webinar, everyone gets the recording anyway. So last but not least, go to Community Quiet under events page, and you'll notice that every single day at Nightlight we have free meditation, so check that out.
Come join us, the Zoom link is there, the schedule is there. Hope to see some of you there. It's been a really nice way to create and develop some community here around the channel for us to spend time together and practice our spirituality together.
I think that's been, yeah, it's been really nice to meet some of you. Anyway, let's pop open the Chepso. This is our official astrology software program. The affiliate link, if you want to check out Necepsos, is in the comments description of the video, in both, in both sections.
It's a 20% off discount, great astrology software. So, anyway, here we are on the Chepso at the moment, and I'm going to point out that the South Node of the moon is just about to change signs from Virgo into Leo. Now we also have Jupiter in Leo about to oppose Pluto.
This is one of the bigger transits of the year, and because Jupiter in Leo will be joining, will be making that opposition as the node changes signs, I think the combination of these two together is worth talking about for a minute, because a lot of the emphasis, let's call it the spiritual growth emphasis, will be about these two planets, Jupiter and the South Node, getting together.
Now, I say planets because, again, in Indian astrology, Ketu, we're talking about, is still thought of as a kind of planet, a shadowy planet that swallows the sun or moon through eclipses, but anyway, you can see that the south node enters Leo, and I'm using the true node here, south node of the moon enters Leo right around Monday, July 27
Now, the reason that's significant is that we have Jupiter going through an opposition to Pluto on Monday, July 20, then we take our south node of the moon into Leo on the 27th and then right after that we have our full moon on the 29th and that full moon features Jupiter Cazimi at the heart of the sun with the full moon conjoining Pluto, so the change of the node is happening at the same time that a lot of emphasis is being given to Jupiter's being it's going through its death and rebirth of the synodic cycle with the sun, it's opposing Pluto, there's a full moon activating all of this on the other side in Aquarius, so a very dynamic end to July that's bringing up this, introducing us to this Jupiter South Node dynamic.
Now, if we take this forward just a little bit, there's going to be on August 12, we're going to see a solar eclipse at about the 20th degree of Leo, with the South Node of the moon present in Leo and Jupiter in Leo and Mercury in Leo, so some big Leo themes coming up here in August, and then there's also on August 2 of 2027
We're going to take this forward just a year. Jupiter will have moved on, but we will get one more eclipse taking place on August 2, I'll just back this up a tiny bit of 2027 and between now and early July of 2027 Jupiter will be with the South Node the entire time, so that's a very significant amount of attention taking place in the sign of Leo.
This is the solar eclipse on August 2 of 2027 Now, if I back this up a little bit, I also want to show you that Jupiter and the South Node, you can mark your calendar for this date, because their conjunction will take place in about the middle to late part of April 2027 Jupiter and the South Node of the moon in Leo will also get together at that time.
That's also going to be a really powerful moment within the overall cycle. So, just some important dates, give you a little bit more context. I have a list of five things to watch for today, but first, what I want to do is just talk a little bit about Ketu and the pairing of Jupiter with Ketu, before we get into our list, in modern evolutionary astrology, sometimes the South Node gets reduced to something as simple as past life karma that needs to be resolved, and that's fair enough.
I don't necessarily have, I don't necessarily want to fight over that, or draw some kind of line in the sand. It's not exactly the way that ancient Indian astrologers looked at it, but it's close enough, and there's - we're allowed to have slightly different schools with different hermeneutics and different ways of thinking about things, but in Indian astrology, Ketu is not primarily about unfinished business that needs to resolve itself; it's more like it's associated with Moksha, which means liberation, but because the story of Rahu and Ketu involves the head being cut off from the body of a demon who's trying to steal the nectar of immortality, we have a bit of a complex story here.
Ketu associated with the severed body, and remember, because the Sudarshan Chakra, the weapon of time, was used like a blade wheel to cut the head off Rahu, and he keeps the nectar that he was trying to drink stuck in his throat, and then the severed body is thought to achieve moksha, but it's a kind of unintegrated moksha in a way, because it's a moksha that's only partial, or something like that.
So, anyway, Ketu is associated with the force of severance, with negation and dissolution of worldly things, including the body, or identification with the body, and therefore moksha and spiritualization are associated with the South Node of the moon, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's just unfinished business.
I think we could fairly say that it feels that way, because things that are very worldly often seem to become more spiritual, more psychological, more inward, and ties or cords that keep those certain things attached to the world with only some kind of material agenda can get cut off and spiritualized.
Jupiter and Ketu have an affinity, actually, in some traditional texts. Ketu is sometimes described as having a Jupiter-like quality, because Ketu inclines people toward philosophy, religion, wisdom, renunciation of worldly things, and liberation through gnosis or through the guru, but they get to the same place in different ways.
Jupiter tends to build meaning and wisdom and understanding and philosophy and coherence philosophically and coherence of meaning. Ketu tends to remove attachments, and those attachments, where they exist in terms of meaning, order, and identity, that keeps us from a more spiritual understanding, are being sort of removed or negated.
Jupiter is sort of like a teacher saying, here, here's a discourse on reality, like a really good spiritual teacher, you know, as we're of course we're speaking in ideals, because we're all just human, and Ketu says, like, this is the truth, and Jupiter says, what do we need to sever or cut that stands in the way of really knowing that truth? Okay, so that's just a little, I don't know, a little brief rundown of Jupiter and Ketu, but both can have a lot to do with wisdom and philosophy and spiritualization.
Jupiter, the guru, South Node associated, Ketu associated with Moksha, but let's think about that in Leo now for a second, so we got the sun's sign, and Leo has to do with the sovereignty of the soul, and by that we don't mean power in the world, we mean that the real power, peace, pride, nobility, heart, purpose lies in being just the fact that you are not what you do, but what you are, and that essential nature is often associated in our world through the temporary ego with the need to do something visible, make something visible, stand for some kind of legacy, carry some kind of crown, demonstrate your heart, embody some kind of position of importance, and it's certainly not wrong to do that.
Not all of us are meant to sit around and just, you know, bask in our beingness, you know, but there's a spiritualization of these qualities, and often Ketu and Jupiter, when they get together, the idea is to make us wiser. Well, if this has to do with being wiser about the throne of our heart, then there may be things that we think we need to do that, we think ennoble us, give us pride, give us dignity, give us worth, give us value, give us fame, or attention, or leadership, all of which ennoble and make us feel like we're living for something eternal, but could actually be blinding us to the very nature of the eternal being that resides in the heart that never needs to prove itself, that never needs to do anything to be good enough.
So you see how the two working together could this is going to be at the heart of our five things to watch for in a moment here, but if we give a little bit of credence to the fact that we all need a sense of spiritual calling and purpose, heart, legacy, nobility in transcendental values like love, peace, compassion, kindness, healing, helping, and promoting peace and well-being, contentment, etc. If we think those things are values, and I'm sure most of us do, then Jupiter and Leo will normally want to kind of magnify those things, right?
Where is your calling? Where is your confidence in your calling? Where's the generosity of your spirit? What about moral or spiritual leadership qualities? Teaching and living from the heart, obviously we think of exuding some kind of solar light creatively, having some kind of faith that you are a special being with a special purpose.
Jupiter in Leo would usually tend to just sort of grow those qualities, but Ketu really complicates things, because Ketu is introducing a kind of emptying, a severing or emptying into the same space that doesn't make Jupiter bad, but it does create a little bit of a paradox, because you have the amplification of solar things with Jupiter, but you have an emphasis on detachment and letting go of Leonic things with the South Node, so here's with all of that in mind.
Here's my list of five things to watch for: ego and leadership. Now this could be the leadership of being a parent, the role you play, as you know, shared leadership in a relationship, the workplace, it doesn't really matter, you know, leadership doesn't have to be in some big grand public spectacle kind of way, it's just where are you asked to take the lead or to share the lead in life in those positions you might start asking yourself with Ketu alongside of Jupiter, what am I trying to prove? Why do I need recognition? Does this title or role still matter to me?
So, if Leo normally would seek to amplify these kinds of roles and spaces and glow and grow brighter, Ketu will potentially burn away the need to radiate or shine entirely, which is just like that's why it's a strange paradox, because where you were meant to be some kind of leader, or where your light is meant to shine and grow, it's growing alongside of some deep questioning about what's healthy and what isn't for the ego, and again, what am I trying to prove? Why do I need recognition? How am I seeking it? Does this matter?
So the humbling of the ego alongside of the growth of its roles of importance. Service doesn't seem like they fit together, but let me ask you this. Have you ever had a moment where you realize the best step you could take to mature in some way would be, it wouldn't be sexy and visible, it wouldn't be something that everyone could see and praise, it would have to be a decision you made where nobody was looking, but you would feel better about yourself, and you would feel more authentic.
So it's possible that some of the biggest, boldest growth of heart, and you know, the king or queen in us that's growing stronger in their light could come because of ways that we're stepping back or toning down or sort of taking our dimmer switch and moving it down a little bit, but paradoxically that may actually enhance our wisdom, our strength, our capacity, our moral commitments, our philosophical commitments.
It's a really strange thing that the ego could step up and receive a promotion by diminishing itself in intentional ways, like, okay, my ego needs a check, and I'm so excited that I've grown enough to recognize it, you know what I mean. All right. Well, anyway, number two on my list would be purification of my purpose, so what is my higher purpose? Jupiter and Leo asks, and then Ketu asks, what remains when some ambitions are removed or reduced or downsized that can create a year in which your purpose becomes more by becoming less.
Very similar idea, projects continue, but maybe for simpler reasons, which simpler reasons can alter big projects. If you're a teacher or some kind of leader in some kind of public space, you might be doing it, but you might be caring less about the reputation or results. There's, in other words, there's more humility, and the way that purpose can be purified with greater humility, downsizing is upsizing, emptying is filling. It's a bizarre little paradox like that, and I suspect that this upcoming Jupiter-Pluto opposition is sort of at the heart of that now.
Um, another thing that can happen will be number three on my list would be Ketu can indicate something that's already mastered or some old desire that's already been exhausted, and then if that's the case, then Jupiter in Leo, alongside of it, could mean that some way in which you have derived confidence based on sharing some part of yourself, performing some part of yourself, some kind of external validation doesn't mean you're a jerk, but like you could reach a place where you go, this has been a fun part of me to share, to show, to put on the stage in front of people, and I'm realizing that at first it really made me feel good about myself, but now it doesn't.
Let me give you an example, so I remember, and this happened to me when Jupiter was last in Leo. I timed it out specifically because I was meditating on it. Then I realized that, and this is where this point came from. So, when Jupiter was last in Leo, we were, you know, my wife was pregnant with our first daughter, and as I was realizing, basically, I was a lot younger, and I processed a lot of my internal life on social media, just a lot of it, and I'm a personal storyteller.
I love sharing personal stories, I love hearing personal stories. I really celebrate that kind of storytelling, I studied memoir writing, you know, so that's a part of me that, you know, people, I think people who like the channel feel like it's a place where you can come and hear relatable stories. Then I share a lot of them, and people who don't like that do not like the channel, you know, but the point is back when Jupiter was in Leo, in this was, God, I want to say it was 2015 if I'm thinking correctly.
During that period of time, I decided that the way that I was sharing myself in social media was going to be I was going to process less of my internal world online. That was a choice that came out of this exact transit and that's what I'm thinking about, I'm thinking about a way in which something I loved to do and even felt called to do, and there was nothing wrong with it, but it started to feel exhausted in the sense that I didn't feel like it was something that I needed to do anymore to validate something or prove something.
So this is something that you can watch for: a desire, an ambition, a role, a way of being seen or heard that you've done for a long time, maybe it's been your source of confidence or pride, and it may naturally feel like, okay, that was really fun, I'm glad I did that, and now I don't need that form of expression or recognition anymore.
Alright, number four on the list: teachers and gurus. With Jupiter and Ketu, you can have a lot of influence from both external and internal guides. Sometimes Jupiter represents the guru, and Ketu represents the severing of attachments to the guru. So, if you find yourself drawn to teachers, mentors, coaches, or spiritual guides, Jupiter in Leo will want to elevate them and make them larger than life.
But Ketu will be asking you to let go of your dependence on them, to find your own inner authority, and that's a huge lesson in Leo. It's the difference between following someone else's light and discovering your own solar center. This can be a very liberating process, but it can also feel disorienting at first, especially if you've relied heavily on external validation or guidance.
There's a fine line between reverence and idolatry, and this transit will help you see that line more clearly. It's not that you shouldn't have teachers; it's that the ultimate teacher is within, and that's a very Leonic truth. The sun doesn't need another sun to shine; it just shines. So, watch for dynamics where you might be giving away your power to someone else, and ask yourself how you can reclaim that power in a healthy, grounded way.
Finally, number five: the paradox of humility and pride. Leo is a sign that loves to shine, and Jupiter amplifies that shine. Ketu, on the other hand, is all about cutting through illusion. When these two come together, you get a strange mix of boldness and humility. It's like being asked to take a bow while also being reminded that the stage is temporary.
This transit is teaching us that true pride isn't about being better than others; it's about knowing your worth without needing to prove it. It's the pride of the open heart that is always serving something bigger than ourselves. And Ketu helps by stripping away the false pride, the ego-driven ambitions, and the desperate need for recognition. What's left is a more authentic, grounded sense of dignity.
So, if you find yourself feeling both more confident and more humble at the same time, that's the Jupiter-Ketu signature in Leo. It's a beautiful, challenging, and ultimately liberating energy, and it's going to be with us for a while. So buckle up, stay grounded, and remember that the throne of your heart is already yours; you don't need to conquer anything to sit on it.
Well, there it is. There it is. So we all, knock on wood, ask that fate be gentle with our big hearts, and yeah, I hope that this was useful for all of you, and give you some good things to think about today. Hey, I hope you're having a good day. I hope that wherever this meets you today, that it gives you a little sunshine, or a little insight, or whatever.
So, have a good one. We'll see you again tomorrow. Bye, everyone.
