Jupiter South Node transit is not a transit of simple fortune or misfortune. It is a passage of refinement — a quiet testing of what you truly believe, and a gentle release of what you have quietly outgrown.
In this week’s podcast episode, I explore Jupiter’s conjunction with the South Node of the Moon in Leo. In the Indian tradition, the South Node is Ketu: the point of detachment, of moksha, of liberation from entanglement. When Jupiter — the guru, the principle of faith and wisdom — meets Ketu, the classical delineations speak of blessings from teachers, an opening into sacred knowledge, and a deep desire to place spiritual practice at the center of life. Yet there is a shadow here as well: a questioning of doctrines, a testing of discernment, and the strange coexistence of spiritual gain with material simplification.
The South Node is not a planet that asks us to build. It asks us to let go. It is the point in the chart where the soul has already learned its lessons, where the patterns are worn smooth by repetition. When Jupiter touches this point, it expands our relationship to the past — not to trap us there, but to show us what we are ready to release. This is the wisdom of the Jupiter South Node transit: the recognition that some of the beliefs and ambitions we once carried have quietly lost their weight, and that this loss is not a failure but a refinement.
Modern Western astrology echoes this theme. The Jupiter South Node transit can coincide with outgrowing an old belief system, a shift in priorities away from recognition or achievement, and a recovery of a more heart-centered knowing. It is a period where the gold of external validation loses its glitter, and the quieter gold of inner truth begins to shine. This is not always comfortable. The testing of faith is real. We may question our teachers, our traditions, or our own convictions. But the invitation is not to abandon faith — it is to deepen it, to move from inherited belief to lived understanding.
The Jupiter South Node transit also carries a material dimension. Jupiter expands whatever it touches, and when it touches the South Node, it can amplify a sense of detachment from worldly prosperity. This does not have to mean hardship. It can mean a period where the wisdom around worldly things grows, even as the attachments to those things diminish. The soul learns to travel lighter.
If you are feeling a quiet pull to simplify, to question, and to listen for a deeper knowing, this transit may be speaking to you. It is not a verdict. It is an invitation. And like all invitations from the South Node, it asks us to release our grip on what we already know, so that something more essential can emerge.
Watch the full podcast episode on YouTube to explore this transit in greater depth, including its Indian and modern Western delineations, and the personal story of initiation and questioning that unfolded during the last Jupiter South Node conjunction.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we're going to take a look at Jupiter's upcoming conjunction with the South Node of the Moon. This is considered incredibly auspicious connection when it comes to the development of our spiritual paths, especially in Indian astrology. We're going to take a look at that today, and I'm also going to give you a set of delineations that fall more in line with, let's say, Western tradition that we're all used to. So we're going to have kind of a Indian take on Jupiter South Node, and then a kind of modern Western take. I'll give you enough things to watch for that hopefully we, you know, we cover all of our bases. That is our agenda for today. Before we get into it, as always, remember to like and subscribe. takes two seconds. Click on notifications. Subscribe. It's free to do so. You can always find transcripts of these daily talks on the website.
That is nightlightastrology.com. A couple of promotions for the day, as always. Our course begins november 14. That is what not this weekend, but next weekend. We're starting really soon now. I can't wait. I'm really excited to jump in. I teach all of the classes live. It's a year-long program, one of three year-long programs. We are now an APAI certified school, which is a huge honor. It's an awesome professional certification you can get when you go through our programs. Go to the courses page. Click on first-year course to learn everything you need to know about the program. I also have an informational video that I've tagged on to the end of daily content during this enrollment season, so you can watch that at the end of today's video if you want to learn more about it.
Feel free to email us if you have questions. But we start on the 14th, and the the one way that I or the one thing I really want to make sure that people are aware of is the need-based tuition. So all of our programs have need-based tuition, which means even though the early bird sale is complete, that means that you can still take advantage of the need-based tuition. If you're someone who really needs some help, you're on a very fixed or limited income, or you're experiencing financial hardship, or if the currency rate makes it inaccessible because you're from another country with a different currency. That's fine. Use the need-based tuition. We still have plenty of spots open.
That's there to make sure that people who really want to take the program but have to work it specifically into a tight budget for whatever reason are able to do so. We want to make sure that people aren't priced out of studying. So if you can afford our normal price. We ask that you do. If you can't, please do use the need-based. If you have a sincere desire to study, all right. So having said that, a couple of other things: you can book a reading with me under the Book of Readings tab. Also, we have need-based astrology readings. So if you need a flexible pricing point for a reading, that's there. This is part of our mission to make sure that astrology is always accessible. That it's not just for people who have a lot of money.
Finally, if you go to shop, click on my books, you'll see that my book, The Oracle Speaks, is out. I just finished the second chapter of my new book. I'm excited about that. The Oracle Speaks, a book I released this past May, is out. Paperback's out, but Audible Audible version just came out at the end of August. So you can check out the Audible version if you would like, and then finally under the events page, monthly webinars. This month, I'm giving a talk on the fourth house on November 19th. Check that out, and then every day at Nightlight, there's free meditation every single morning. If you want to join us, click the community quiet tab. Learn more about it's an awesome community. We have kind of a group sharing time on Sundays. It's really sweet. All right, that is all I had to share.
Let's put Necepso up onto the screen, and what we're looking at here is the Jupiter South Node conjunction that's taking place in Leo. Let's move this clock forward. We're going to see that that conjunction is forming over the course of next week. So we're really looking at it, it starts in between Monday, november 9, and Tuesday, november 10, and Jupiter and the South Node cross by Thursday, and then the continuation takes us. Mars comes through. We'll be talking about that a little bit later. The two don't fully separate until about Wednesday, november 18, which means a significant portion of the next two weeks is going to be spent with Jupiter and the South Node conjunct.
Now, there are very different delineations for this combination depending on where you look. If you study Indian astrology, Vedic astrology, Jyotish, all kind of names, different names given to the Indian tradition of astrology, which shares roots with our horoscopic Western form of astrology, and you're going to find a very specific set of delineations for Jupiter and Ketu. That's the south node of the moon in Indian astrology, versus say looking at modern Western delineations from evolutionary astrology or yeah even Hellenistic astrology. So what I want to do today, I don't have any banners. This is a little bit off the cuff as we have more things happening here today that are my schedule's been wacky, as you guys know. So, but I do have a very well organized. I just wasn't. I just didn't have time to make my banners today. So. So anyway, excuses, excuses, Adam. All right, here we go.
There's five that I have that are from Indian astrologers that I was able to track down through my library and through a little bit of online research. These are all from Indian astrologers talking about Jupiter and Ketu. So remember that Ketu, we have to start with this. Ketu is associated with moksha or liberation from the material world, and liberation from any kind of entanglement in general. There's sort of a worldly version of moksha, like I'm done with work. I'm clocking out. Yay, moksha! And I'm going to bed at night. I'm sleeping. I'm resting. Moksha, and then there's like I'm not being born ever again. You know, moksha. And so K2 and Jupiter are, or excuse me, K2 in general associated with moksha. However, K2 has some shadows and dark side as well, which might be escapism or deception or illusion or a tendency toward fantasy, which can all be almost like complications around spirituality.
Anyway, so with those in mind, Jupiter, the guru conjoining the south node can be a very auspicious thing for Indian astrologers when it comes to spiritual development. Here's why. Let me give you some examples. A classical Jupiter Ketu delineation is that you will receive blessings from teachers and spiritual lineages. By the way, such shameless self-promotion. This guarantees that you're going to have a good time in my class. It's going to be a real blessing. I'm playing. So blessings from teachers and lineages. No, seriously though, finding a guru, a school, or a spiritual tradition, receiving teachings that have been preserved across generations, spiritually speaking, becoming responsible for practicing and passing on what you have learned. These, in the spiritual sense, this is the guru meeting with the the sort of moksha power of Ketu in the South Node.
The second is an opening into sacred knowledge. Studying astrology would be a very Jupiter Ketu like thing for real, not just saying that. Excuse me. Let's see. Any time that you want to understand scripture or mantra or astrology or the study of anything sort of priestly or or sacred, an opening into sacred knowledge. That's Jupiter Ketu. If you want to understand a little bit more about karma, about rebirth, about liberation, receiving some kind of instruction that makes things that are somewhat vague or obscure spiritually or philosophically more accessible. These are Jupiter Ketu blessings.
The other thing would be that Jupiter and Ketu can mean that our spiritual practice is going to take priority. A stronger desire for liberation from the wheel of rebirth, freedom from spiritual bondage. These can grow as strong desires within us, and they are desires. We want to, in the yoga philosophy paradigm, we want to replace all separative desires for unitive desires with the divine, and so this can be one of those transits that helps us replace worldly desires for spiritual desires. I like this this analogy that I've heard before, or this. I guess it's kind of a yeah, it's an analogy.
So let's say that you take to a spiritual path in life, and you realize, oh, you know what? My only goal is to awaken the divinity within me. Let's say that's just the way of putting it. Then, what we're doing in the karmic world we've inhabited, where our desires have been maybe anything and everything but that you know is we're we're like a fan plugged into the wall and we're going to unplug that fan. The fan is powered by the karmic world that keeps the blade of the fan spinning in the cycles of karma. But once we replace the material desires for spiritual desires. It's not that we no longer have material karma or material desires. It's that we've unplugged the fan.
Well, if it was going on high, the blades are still going to keep going, but they're not being powered by the karma anymore. Instead, the we now have. An end date. You know, we have the momentum is now in the process of slowing. Developing spiritual desires is tantamount to unplugging ourselves from the wall, right? If that that analogy makes sense, that's sort of like Jupiter and Ketu at its best. They can start placing in our hearts desires for things that start taking us off the wheel of karma, and not that I have any idea what that really means, right? I mean, that these are great mysteries. So I don't mean to, it, it, you know, it's like I'm I'm a hypocrite. Who am I to speak with any certainty about any of these things, right? But you get the idea. Um. Yeah, spiritual practice can take priority.
A stronger desire for freedom from spiritual bondage, greater commitment to contemplation, to prayer, to discipline, to selfless service, to self care, to love, to service. Religious understanding becomes something that we practice in daily life, and that can be a big Jupiter South Node blessing. Now, the next thing, though, is very important, which is that our faith and our let's call it our discernment, spiritually speaking, are tested. So that can sometimes show up in the form of questioning teachers or doctrines or religious authority figures, depending on the the placement in the chart and other factors in Indian astrology, there can be confusion or distortion of spiritual judgment, and some purposeful way that we have of asking deeper questions and maybe understanding something at a deeper level, but there may be some some degree of skepticism or questioning or challenging our own convictions or testing our faith.
Maybe God or the universe is doing that to us. Maybe we're you know maybe that's something that we're externalizing in the form of calling into question something we've practiced or believed in, or a teacher we study with. I will say that when I just let me show you guys something really. I'm going to use this. I was not sure if I was going to, but I am because it's just a really good piece right here. So, whoops. Okay, here we go. Where? Okay, let me show you guys. So this is you can go back to the last Jupiter k2 period, and you may find that it's really useful to do so. Let me get us there. I thought it was close, but here we go. Oh my gosh, this is taking forever. Here we go. So you're looking at Jupiter entering Capricorn in late 2019, and then ingressing into Capricorn in 2020.
So, what's interesting about this is that that coincided for me with taking initiation. Here's what's interesting is that that Jupiter South Node conjunction was in Capricorn, which you can see, it's just tiny on the screen. Let me see if I can. Does it? It's just because there's so many planets, it shrinks them to fit them all. This was just prior to COVID, and this was around the time I took initiation. And also, what was interesting at the time that I was taking initiation, I was also beginning to deeply question, which is just you would think I would have been like, well, I'm going to press pause and not get initiated, but no, I was like, well, I have to go through with this, but I was starting to question the tradition that I was a part of spiritually. This was a Bhakti Yoga tradition, lovely tradition.
It was not so much the tradition itself or its philosophy as it was the community that I was a part of at the time, and that's like any and every religious community, by the way. But anyhow, so while my spiritual practices were becoming a lot more tangibly solid, and I was literally taking a guru in initiation as Jupiter in the South Node came together during that period, I was also starting to question whether or not it was exactly the right fit for me, and within a couple of years, that continued path of questioning would lead to me changing directions. Nothing wrong. I mean, underlying was not the faith itself; it was just the right container, you know. But that's a Jupiter Ketu experience. So, if you want to look back, by the way, at this the exact Jupiter Ketu situation was about January of 2020. You could go December of 2019 into January of 2020.
That was for me. That was like right when. You know, right when I I took initiation, so yeah, there were there was even I believe I'm just looking back at this fairly certain that where was it? Yeah, I can't remember. There's an exact date I was going to look up, but I can't find it, guys. So I'm just going to keep moving. Because sorry, I get lost in the weeds sometimes. It's like it's like as astrologers, sometimes we have like dates, and you've seen those memes where there's just the guys like calculating infinity, and I've got all sorts of stuff like that. And then I forget. Hey, people are waiting for a podcast. Sorry, sorry. Okay, so faith and spiritual discernment tested, and then the last one are spiritual gains but material complications.
This is classic. Any time you have Jupiter and the South node together, you can have setbacks in fortune, finances, worldly prosperity, but you may have those periods coinciding with tremendous growth in faith and wisdom and understanding, and that doesn't mean disaster either. It could just mean that there's a period of time in which the wisdom around worldly things is coinciding, you know. So there's some challenges around worldly things because K2 tends to diminish worldly attachments. So periods of a little bit of trouble or stress around material things, while spiritual wisdom is being greatly enhanced. You know, like if you ever been in between jobs and it really helps you double down on your faith that the universe has your back, you just have to. You have to lean into that, and things end up being okay. But it's a period of time where there's a lot of uncertainty. It's very Jupiter k2. All right. Well, let me give you some Western delineations.
This is more. I I made these more around Leo specifically, right? Like like Jupiter South Node Leo. So when achievements or recognition, very Leonic, are not as satisfying as they used to be, or when your priorities shift somehow away from something that you previously sought some level of egotistical satisfaction from, and I don't mean the word ego, you know, as as an evil thing here. Just this made me feel good, and it doesn't make me feel good. This gave me a sense of accomplishment or pride or importance, or this made me feel like people really thought I was something. And I'm, it's, it's not as glittery. The gold is not glittering like it used to. The next one on my list would be outgrowing an old belief system.
So it's very similar, but Jupiter and the South Node can be about processing modern evolutionary astrology. Would say maybe we're processing past life karma around worldviews that we had, philosophies, convictions, belief, and there's some sense of disillusionment that's happening as maybe we're also reaching new understandings or opening ourselves up to some kind of new or different philosophy, recovering, recovering some inner sense of knowing. So Jupiter is often connected to things like intuition and faith and understanding and wisdom in the West, but we might say in the West with Leo that I'm I'm the things that I know to be me or to be true or to be creatively fulfilling or rewarding or to be defining of my life interests or ambitions or direction that I'm I'm recovering a sense of heart centered knowing about who I am and where I'm supposed to be going.
It's a very modern kind of Leo take, but that's legitimate too. We may be going through a period of time the next couple weeks where it feels like I'm returning to the deepest truths that I happen to know about myself and about where I'm going and what I ought to be doing with my life, and it just feels like it's ringing out like a bell from my heart. Maybe that comes with it's a little bittersweet because the recognition is coming alongside of some shadows or some some personal failures or you know some work that we have to do on ourselves. I think the Jupiter South Node can be about spiritual forms of detachment that are maybe not as healthy versus those that are letting go of having to be like a wise, sagely teacher.
You know, like I, I know, like we all go through this, but there's in 12 step programs we talk a lot about how it's not our job to save people. You know, like we can't. We have to stay in our own lane, and that doesn't mean you can't be a help, a friend. If someone asks you for advice, it doesn't mean you can't say anything. But it does mean that we have to take the burden off from ourselves to try. To save others and save the world, and save ourselves, and then if that work is sincere, it has a natural way of finding places to be of assistance, finding platforms to be a teacher, finding places to be a healer. And I know it's cliched, and it can it can certainly that can be used for selfish reasons. I've just got to focus on me, you know.
But if you're the kind of person who puts a burden or pressure on yourself to perform and give people advice or insight or encouragement or wisdom all the time, you can burn yourself out. And so, like I would say, for myself, someone who has a platform where I spew astrological ideas and insights or whatever, it every single day for 17 years now, I have had a daily practice of prayer and meditation and different self-care, you know, practices, therapy, physical exercise. You know, not that I'm perfect, but if I don't have those things, I get burnt out, and I start to feel like a real hypocrite, you know. And I really don't. I start really not liking myself, and I'm sure you all can relate. If you're not taking care of yourself, what good are you to other people? Really, at the end of the day, not a lot.
And you start to learn that the further you go down the path of trying to be useful while not taking care of yourself. You have to. It is not selfishness to take care of yourself if you are someone who cares deeply about fulfilling your dharma in the world. It's like saying if a car has to carry people around, and the people they're carrying around are of great importance spiritually for the welfare of the planet. You better make sure that the brakes are good, the brake pads, you know, the oil. You gotta all these things. You gotta take care of that car so that it can do what it's got to do. We're not any different. The question also may be: Do we have a sense of mission or purpose that's beyond ourself. If we don't have that, then the self care, you know, as necessary it is as it is, is is missing a piece in that direction.
So it's a balance, but yeah. And then I would say there's a great emphasis on just letting go, simplifying commitments or ambitions or possessions, all sort of Jupiterian things, giving, mentoring, charity, humanitarian work can be very Jupiter South Node. So this is a slightly more Western take on it. But don't forget that your past life connection to religion and authority in religion and doctrines and teachings and philosophy can be brought up when Jupiter and the South Node get together from that modern evolutionary perspective as well. So, yeah, there we have it. Some I think some good ideas here to help us as we meet and greet Jupiter and Ketu. I'm going to be fascinated to see what it looks like when Mars gets in the mix, which we will be talking about soon.
Anyway, I hope you're having a great day. Stick around. Next, I'm going to tell you about the year one program, we start not this weekend, but next weekend, november 14. It is a fantastic program. Hey, it is starting during a Jupiter k2 period. It is also starting while Pluto in Aquarius is trining Uranus and Gemini. This is going to be a really powerful program. I can't wait to study with you guys and develop community. Some of you right now, we're going to be together for the next three years, and we don't even know it now. Isn't that cool? I love these programs. This is as much as I love making content. Like at my heart, I am an astrology teacher, and and like one-on-one practitioner. I think you will find that this program is really warm and community-centered and spiritually uplifting. If you choose to join us, I don't think you'll regret it. All right. Anyway, I'll tell you more about it next. Bye.
