What if the quietest moment in a lunar cycle held the key to understanding the first wave of Saturn’s work in your life? This week’s Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn isn’t one to overlook. While most quarter moons pass without much fanfare, this one arrives as Saturn completes its synodic reset—emerging from its conjunction with Neptune in Aries, reborn as a morning star. That means the environment around you is steeped in the death and rebirth of a planet that asks for nothing less than your honest accounting of effort, responsibility, and the structures you’ve built.

Over the next several days, you may feel a subtle but unmistakable audit taking place—not to punish, but to clarify. Where have you been doing the real work? Where have you started things only to sense they were premature? And where does a strange kind of emptying out suddenly feel like the most creative thing you can do? This Capricorn moon, ruled by a fallen Saturn, invites you to notice what’s solidifying: the first consequences of choices made since Saturn entered Aries. It’s not the whole journey—just the first threshold, asking for a goodbye.

Saturn is not your enemy. It is the part of the cosmos that reminds you: this world is temporary, and you are not bound by it. When things fall away, when effort reveals its true cost, when you empty out and grow still—that is not loss. That is the womb of a new cycle beginning.
Look to the whole sign house of Aries in your chart. That’s where the first wave of Saturn’s karmic work is landing, and where something new is quietly gestating. Trust the pruning. Trust the gravity. And if you feel called to sit with this threshold, you’ll find more than you expected waiting on the other side.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we are going to preview the last quarter moon that's coming through this week in Capricorn.
If you watch my channel regularly, you know that I rarely cover last quarter moons or first quarter moons, new and full. Yeah, sure, if they're configured powerfully, certainly eclipse season. It's really rare that I'm going to sit down and talk about a last quarter moon on a weekly forecast, because they're not often as powerful as the other features of the moon cycle.
But this one, this week stands out.
There is a subtle reason, on a craft and technical level, that the Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn that's coming through this week is going to, I think, going to be very powerful. And so I want to tell you why I think that's the case after I've been meditating with it, and give you a list of things to watch for.
These are perhaps somewhat subtler things to watch for, but I'm also going to give you some hints about how you can track this last quarter moon and probably see it more than you might otherwise see it if you weren't paying attention to a few key details. So I hope that you'll find this interesting and useful.
I'm also personally, like, I go through ebbs and flows of what I pay the most attention to as an astrologer. Sometimes I'm really dialed into Mercury in a given year of my practice, and it always changes based on my, you know, personal relationship with the planets.
I've noticed that right now the moon is really important to me as I've been working with it. And I sat I was like, I wonder why that is. And I was like, Well, of course, Jupiter in Cancer this year has me really paying a lot of attention to the wisdom of the moon cycles.
Not only that, but as I've been sort of peaking in some of my understanding of the moon cycle as an astrologer, you go through stages of learning your own craft and so forth. Anyway, long story short, Jupiter's been opposing my moon as well.
So because of that opposition to my moon, there's been a lot of reworking and deepening of my understanding of the moon in my practice and Hellenistic astrology and moon cycles and so forth. I love being an astrologer for this reason. There's never a year of your life where the planets in the sky don't participate in the way you're continuing to learn.
So anyway, all of that being said, just a little background there. We're going to talk about this last quarter moon today.
Before we get into it, remember to like and subscribe. Share your comments, your reflections. Look, if you listen to this channel regularly and you haven't clicked the Subscribe button, that is everything to us. It literally helps us keep growing and thriving as a business; word gets out. It helps people sign up for the programs and things we offer that support what we do. So if you could take two seconds to do that, it means a lot to us.
You can find transcripts of any of these daily talks on our website. That's NightlightAstrology.com.
My promotions for the day. Let me just pull up the website, as I always do. Really, the main thing I want to make sure of every day that people are aware of is that we have free morning meditation at Nightlight.
So if you're someone who is really intentional about marrying your spiritual practice or a spiritual lifestyle, self care habits with astrology, because this is part of you know. This is your spiritual seeker. If you identify in that way, then I want to encourage you to check out. Go to the events tab of our website at NightlightAstrology.com, click on Community Quiet.
Our schedule is there. Seven days a week, you can join us for free meditation. The Zoom link's there. The schedule is there. It's just something I'm doing to try and make sure that our community here is getting what they need on different levels, not just astrology content, but some spiritual community. And that's really important to me.
The other thing I want to share with you is that when you go to book a reading tab, you can't see this right now because it's in the process of being built, and I'm recording this a week in advance, but by the time you listen to this, Book a Reading will have a tab that says, Readings with Adam.
I am opening my books again. I have some new styles of readings and reports that I'm doing. They're all handmade, personal. So if that's interesting to you, you can certainly check that out. If you need a more affordable price point, we also have need-based readings with our staff, so be sure to check all of that out.
Really excited after a couple years off — I took a few years off because I was writing a book. I just finished my book. I'm excited to have a little bit more time and space for doing readings again. So if that's interesting to you, check that out.
The other thing is, go to the events page, annual retreat at the bottom. We still have, I think, four or five spots left as of the time I'm recording this for need-based scholarships to our retreat. So if you need a little bit of help to make it happen, the price is down to lodging and food.
So if that's interesting to you, email us info at NightlightAstrology.com. It's going to be a great retreat, a lot of really deep work we're going to be doing on ourselves and with astrology on this retreat. So hope to see you there.
Shop page has been revamped. You've got master classes and monthly webinars in two different spaces. You can check all of those out if you want to dive deep into our catalog of learning resources.
Finally, the last thing I'll say is that Year One is starting again in June. Click on the First Year Course if you want to learn more about it. The early bird rate is now in effect, and at the end of today's video, I'll tell you all about that upcoming program in June. There's a little informational video tagged on to the end of our content from now until the time the course starts, so you can learn more about that there.
All right. Well, let's open the cheps. So the guys at Nechepso are going to be back this month to do kind of a tutorial for beginners. I'll let you know, and we'll be announcing the live stream that we'll be doing with them.
We're an affiliate now for this program, so if you like it, the link to get a discount on your monthly subscription is in the comments and the description of the video, but here on the chip.
So as you can see, we're Tuesday, April 7, as you're listening to this, and if I speed this up just a little bit, to Wednesday, April 8, go forward to Thursday, April 9, you're going to see that Wednesday and Thursday, the Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn is forming.
So in terms of that, let me just show you with my epic pen. So here is the last quarter moon forming, and that last quarter moon is in Capricorn, while the sun is in the sign of Aries.
And if I move this forward just a little bit more, you'll see that by Friday morning, it has passed through the exact last quarter moment. So we're really looking at a last quarter moon that begins tomorrow morning and lasts all the way through Friday, late afternoon into the evening.
That's important, and this last quarter moon is worth talking about for a couple of reasons.
First and foremost, this last quarter moon is bringing the end of a lunar cycle, and that lunar cycle — this is, I think, really important to note — that lunar cycle has taken place during the synodic reset of a fall in Saturn.
The Saturn-Neptune conjunction, obviously just took place in Aries. We have Saturn coming off the conjunction to the sun, which means its cycle with the sun, its death and rebirth, is taking place within this last moon cycle.
This last quarter moon is hosted by that Saturn. And what's happening between last quarter and new moon is also really interesting.
If we go forward just a little bit more, we're going to see that when the balsamic moon comes through the sign of Aries and starts a new moon cycle in Aries, and you're going to see that new moon taking place Friday, April 17.
At that time, Saturn has emerged basically as a morning star out from under the beams of the sun. And we're looking at the death and rebirth of Saturn fully having completed itself now within this lunar cycle that we're just finishing.
That is why this last quarter moon is going to hit a little different.
So let's go back to the next couple of days. Here we are again on Tuesday, Moon's in Sag still today, right? But tomorrow it'll be in Capricorn, and then the next couple of days through Friday, it's in Capricorn, forming that last quarter.
Then you've got about one more week, from April 10 to about the 17th, where we're closing down this lunar cycle.
And one of the easy ways you can summarize what this lunar cycle has been about: there's lots of things happening in a lunar cycle, but one of the very clear things that has happened during this lunar cycle has been the death and rebirth of Saturn.
The death and rebirth of Saturn coming off from a Saturn-Neptune conjunction with Saturn in its fall, the reset happening while the sun was exalted. So the exaltation and fall simultaneous in the sign of Aries. That's a big deal.
A lot of us have really felt the impact of that Saturn-Neptune conjunction in the whole sign house of Aries in our birth charts. And what I want to say today, if I said nothing else, is just pay attention to that whole sign house of Aries in your chart.
The reason that you want to pay attention to it is that whatever work Saturn and Neptune have been doing there together, and whatever work Saturn's been doing apart and on its own, you're really going to feel the first wave of that karma releasing or expressing itself, the first insights and realizations of Saturn doing its work in Aries.
In other words, they are happening right now in the next week or two, as this moon cycle concludes and the next one begins. You're really going to feel and sense that the first wave of work from Saturn in Aries — and whatever house it's in in your birth chart — has fully taken place.
Now sometimes that's subtle. It's like, well, how do you track that? The easiest way to track it is to start with the whole sign house of Aries.
Later this week, I'm going to be doing horoscopes, because we're also going to see Mars pop into Aries this week, and can join Neptune and then conjoin Saturn, and that's going to be something that we can track. It's important to do some horoscopes for Mars going through the conjunction with Neptune, the conjunction with Saturn, because Mars is going to effectively reignite their conjunction through what's called a kind of a translation of light — just the idea that it's going to hit one planet and then the other in sequence, and sort of bring their conjunction back together.
So we're going to do horoscopes for that, and I will remind you at the time of those horoscopes later this week what the topics of that whole sign house of Aries are in your birth chart, in case you're not aware.
But if you are aware of where Aries lies in your birth chart, you really want to think about everything I'm going to say today in the next five things to watch for in terms of the death and rebirth of Saturn that's taking shape this week and for the next week, as the cycle closes.
What are last quarter moons? Let's refresh on that for a second.
In the last quarter moon dynamic, the moon is in a superior square to the sun. What that means — and I broke this down in a recent video I did on easy ways to track lunar cycles; you can watch that from a week or two ago — long story short, when the moon is in the superior position, the sun has to respond to the context that's already been established by the moon, rather than a first quarter where the moon has to respond to the context already established by the sun.
I explained what that all means and broke that down. If that sounds a little vague, I broke that down technically and philosophically in the video I did a couple weeks ago on tracking the lunar cycle. So go back and check that out.
But in this case, a last quarter moon in the sign of Capricorn is also being hosted by the Fallen Saturn. So what we're essentially talking about is some environmental conditions.
That's what the moon represents, broadly speaking. If you think about the moon, the moon is like the condition that you find your house in. If you have an Airbnb and you had some guests stay in it, and you go into that house and see what they're like, and see what the conditions of the environment are like based on who's in the house, or based on how they left it for you as the host of the house, then you get a feeling of the context that you're walking into — it's been established by whoever's been in there.
So in the same way, a Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn, hosted by the Fallen Saturn, is showing us a kind of environment right now. That environment is all about the dying Saturn and the rebirthing Saturn.
And in the Capricorn environment, you could look at the Capricorn whole sign house in your chart as well. But basically the Capricorn environment of the last quarter moon is saying things in the environment are being fully reflected by the Fallen Saturn right now, and that fall in Saturn, and what it means and how it's been playing out in your life, is leading to a death or a collapse or a deterioration.
Last quarter moons are about the environment that's been established by consequences, karmically, in the past, and now it's kind of falling apart.
It's a bit like, to use a very classic last quarter moon example, it's like when a marriage is ready to fall apart, or a job is ready to fall apart, or you're ready to not live in a certain location anymore. And it's pretty apparent and clear that you're at a crossroads where something in the environment is showing itself to be ready to be released.
Something's done, something's culminated and completed, and something's reaching a place of resolution. But in order for things to continue, there's a moment where you have to kind of acknowledge the consequences of actions and a cycle that's nearing completion and then move on from it.
So you can see how powerful that is for a Moon in Capricorn that's hosted by the Fallen Saturn that's in the process of being reborn.
That's why the heart of this is really in that whole sign house of Aries in your chart. That whole sign house of Aries is doing a lot of work right now for everybody given the Saturn-Neptune conjunction.
But this is the last quarter moon that just says everything in the environment this week is screaming about what has happened with Saturn since it entered Aries, and it's like a first wave of karmic work, because Saturn is going to be in Aries for several years, right?
So this is, in a way, when a synodic reset like this happens, and then a last quarter moon comes through hosted by that Saturn that's getting synodically reset, you're basically saying that the first goodbye is here, the first closure or completion, because there's cycles within cycles, right?
So this is like a mini cycle of closure and completion relative to the fall in Saturn. And I know that's a little dense, and maybe I hope it's not too vague and hard to track.
If it was, then simply focus on the fact that Saturn has done a first round of work in Aries, and this last quarter moon is pointing to the consequences and the closure of that cycle. And in the next week, you're really going to feel that cycle concluding and a new cycle beginning, all relative to Saturn in Aries.
Okay, so hopefully that makes enough sense, and I apologize because I'm just back from sitting in the sun for two weeks with my family, and I'm like trying to get back into the swing of things and trying to find my words again.
Anyway, here's five things to watch for, and let's get into what you might notice.
So there's obviously everything that I just mentioned. It doesn't have to be necessarily more complicated than that. Simply look at that whole sign house of Aries in your chart and think to yourself, What have I learned? And what cycle feels like it's coming to a close?
It might be kind of like a little mini cycle. It's not the totality of what Saturn in Aries has to say. It's going to be in that sign for a long time. So it's like a first round of karmic work that we've been doing in that whole sign house of Aries.
What has it said? What have the insights been? What's being let go of? What's being concluded? How are circumstances changing or reshaping around that first leg of work, that first leg of the journey, I should say.
All right, so the first thing to watch for as this week goes on and then for the next week, as the cycle closes and Saturn is emerging as the Morning Star, resetting its cycle, it's like a cosmic audit of effort and responsibility.
Effort and responsibility means just basically, where have you been working on things? We all know what the real work is.
Okay, like, if you've been in any kind of therapeutic setting, or done healing work, or shadow work, or whatever we want to call it, going inward and making it a priority to take care of yourself, even though it's so good for you, is often for us a kind of work and requires a kind of inner responsibility.
I'm going to be the grown up here who doesn't seek an easy way out that actually tends to the garden of my soul with a kind of discipline, and if I'm lucky, in time, it becomes effortless and devotional, right?
But for a lot of us, in the beginning, we have to set aside egotistical parts of ourselves, or more immature parts of ourselves that don't want to do the work or take the responsibility or make the effort.
Whatever level we can control certain circumstances — like getting enough sleep or drinking enough water, or getting a little bit of exercise, or sitting quietly, or studying things that matter, or prioritizing the right kinds of relationships — these are hard things to do.
Where have you been making the hard work, the effort? Where have you been taking on greater responsibility? And right now, this first wave of Saturn's cycle in Aries, there's like an audit taking place karmically. You could think about it that way.
What have you built? What's shifted? Where is effort and responsibility needed, or where are things kind of misapplied or scattered or immature? And also maybe encounters that are clarifying what's sustainable or what's unsustainable.
Saturn loves that kind of accounting work. You know, this is realistic: this will work if you put in effort, this will translate into something positive for your soul, and this won't. And it's very cut and dry.
And it's not easy to feel like things are that cut and dry. Sometimes it can feel a little, I don't know, heavy or intense with Saturn. But this is what it costs if you want to grow and work and become something better than what you are, spiritually, emotionally, even when it comes to keeping an open heart and staying in the present moment.
For most of us, that is a labor of love. So think about that whole sign house of Aries and where there is some kind of audit of your effort and responsibility taking place. This is Saturn's language. I'm not trying to say that this is the totality of the universe's personality, right?
So Saturn is one of the universe's personality traits. So it has a way of helping us learn and grow, especially at the very end of a threshold moment within its cycles.
All right. Number two would be false starts and premature initiations.
When any planets move into Aries, there's like, bah, let's start things. Let's do things.
You might be learning right now in this week to come that things that you got really excited about, that you wanted to start out the gate strong with or jump right into, that you tried to initiate — it's a very inceptional sign, Aries is — and so you might be getting the feedback that, yeah, this wasn't really the right thing.
That happens so frequently with Saturn and Neptune in the sign together of Aries, right? They're both going to provide you with visionary impulse to follow a dream or a vision, to structure and build something with effort and to start something new. These are great things, right?
But some of them will be false starts and premature initiations, and we'll get feedback that there is something about the assumptions we made or the motivation we had or the intentions that we hadn't quite explored, and we might be getting some of that feedback right now, or we might just be getting some adjustments to the plan or direction of something we've tried to start recently.
Number three would be consequences solidifying.
This first wave of a Saturn cycle, a last quarter moon ruled by that fallen Saturn that's just about to appear as the morning star resetting its cycle — this might be some early consequences of the Saturn in Aries cycle solidifying and showing up for good or bad.
Just consequences solidifying, karmic crystallization. And where do you see that? Where do you look for it? Because it might sound kind of generic on the surface, like, isn't that what astrologers say about all the things?
But look for it in the whole sign house of Aries in your chart. Like I said, we'll do some horoscopes later this week for Mars's entrance into Aries. And you could double up on that thinking about Saturn's consequences that are solidifying.
But it is a kind of karmic solidification taking place in that space right now, more recent choices or patterns that will become more concrete and visible. A feeling of gravity where decisions you've made are landing in the body, maybe from a more nebulous or visionary space, as Saturn separates from Neptune a bit.
Situations where you can't avoid something, you have to sort of deal with or reckon with something, any kind of encounters with boundaries or structural realities that can't be skipped over. This is the kind of thing you might be meeting with right now as Saturn sets the stage for the next leg of the journey.
The next thing on my list is emptying out.
So one of the things that Saturn is associated with is what's sometimes referred to as the via negativa, which means the way of the negative. The way of the negative can be misleading: emptying out, getting still, being quiet, letting things die. It's like winter.
Winter on the surface appears like it's empty. Winter on the surface as a seasonal metaphor is of Saturn, because Saturn rules both signs of winter, Capricorn and Aquarius. Obviously, all of this is hemispherically relative.
But the point is that Saturn often refers to death and emptying of things that appear alive and active and centrifugal (outward focused) but centripetal force — very Saturnian things that draw us inward and that sort of tighten down and in, like the life force withdrawing into the roots of the trees, or whatever.
It may seem like passivity or surrender or giving up or death, or it can even feel sort of futile and depressive.
However, if we have pruned, reduced, simplified, emptied out, made space, resigned, accepted, even taken a step back from things — if that's what's happening right now, trust that this may be, paradoxically, the most active creative thing you can do for the sake of the next cycle.
So when Saturn is dying and being reborn, we have this last quarter moon in Capricorn ruled by that fallen Saturn. Put all those pieces together, and it just might be a moment where it's time to empty or prune or reduce or simplify or strip back or consolidate.
That emptying out may be much more powerfully creative than it looks on the surface. So trust that if it feels like the right thing to do.
And if you want to know where to do that or where that kind of emptying might be taking place, again, very simple: look at the whole sign house of Aries in your birth chart. Think about those topics.
Finally, I will say that pairing with that — and this is why I said it's a bit paradoxical, because the yin, or that centripetal, inward drawing force, is the fertile ground of creation, right? It's a womb.
So note that something new is also gestating, and the very earliest seeds of a new Saturn cycle are taking place.
Saturn is not your enemy. Saturn is not out to just mess you up or me, but it is there to remind us: this is not your final destination. This world is temporary. It's a beautiful world. It's a world worth caring for. It's a world worth being in. It is not the only world.
Time and space, and the perceptions we have as living beings that are mortal, is not the only perception. You are a spirit, a soul that is not bound by time or by the temporary body that you inhabit. And we get closer to those things when we empty out, when things die or fall away or get stripped back.
And then in that womb-like space, new life, new stages of evolution begin to unfold. So make note right now also of the start of a new Saturn cycle. And again, where to look? That whole sign house of Aries — the topics there.
Now, I know it might be frustrating to hear me just hammer the whole sign house of Aries so many times. I'm not doing horoscopes today, and I know that when we cover things from an archetypal perspective, there's a handful of folks who might see these or hear these interpretations, even I could hear them and just go, that sounds like cliches.
It makes so much more sense when you take the time to meditate on these things in relation to the placement in your chart. So you have to look at — if you use Placidus, just look at the first six degrees of Aries, for example, and where that lands in your chart. And if you're using whole signs, it's easy. You just look at the whole sign house.
Mars is going to move into this sign of Aries later this week, Friday, Thursday into Friday, I believe. Let me just double check. So yeah, it's Thursday, April 9 into Friday the 10th that Mars switches into Aries.
We're going to take a look at that. We're going to talk about why that is one of the most powerful transits of the year, no joke. And we're going to do horoscopes at that time.
And at that time again, like I said earlier, I will remind you, hey, don't forget the Saturn discussion we had earlier this week with the last quarter moon. Hey, you know what? That reset of the cycles is taking place in this house as well. So that should be useful.
All right, that's what I've got for today.
Stick around, because next I'm going to tell you all about the Year One program that's coming up in June. Our early bird sale is now up and available.
Don't forget, I've got new readings on the site that are available. You can check those out.
And if you like Nechepso, this is just an absolutely fantastic program. The guys are going to come on to do a beginners' demo later this month. I'm an affiliate. You help out the school, and you help out a grassroots effort to lead the revolution in astrology software, rather than being inundated by people who don't have the sacred interests of our field in mind.
So support Nechepso. Support Nightlight. When you get that software, you get a discount, 20% off. It's in the comments or the description of the video.
We'll see you again soon. Bye, everyone.
