It’s Here — A Lunar Eclipse in Pisces — Horoscopes for All 12 Signs

Today we're going to take a look at the lunar eclipse forming in the sign of Pisces. This eclipse is taking place this evening into early tomorrow morning, depending on which time zone you're located in. We'll go over the timing of the eclipse. We'll talk about some of the general significations of lunar eclipses, and then we're going to take a look at your horoscopes today.

All right, so we have this lunar eclipse forming this evening, and if I go forward just a little bit, you're going to notice that it's forming late tonight, Thursday, August 27th, just prior to midnight Central Time.

So if you're on the East Coast, this is technically taking place Friday, August 28th. Depending on where you are in the world, the eclipse may be coming through at a slightly different time, but it's today into tomorrow that we are in an eclipse window. Let's just put it that way. So I've got horoscopes for us today, but before we go into horoscopes, a few brief reminders about lunar eclipses. Let's recall what lunar eclipses are all about.

First of all, a lunar eclipse is like a full moon, but it is a greatly amplified full moon with a lot more history behind it. You might say the reason for that is that eclipses are powerful versions. Lunar eclipses, I should say, are powerful versions of full moons that have cycles of nine and 18 years behind them, and so we're looking at the normal significations of a full moon. Let's remind ourselves of what those are.

That would be the ripening of the fruit of a cycle. If a tree starts off growing and then it reaches its fruiting stage, the fruiting stage of the fruit on the tree is like the full moon, and so another image that is sometimes used is when a woman is ready to give birth and her belly is full. She's everything's ready. She's like, I am just going to give birth, you know. So the maturation of the child within has reached its fullness and birth is imminent.

Another image that fits right—so plants in nature are a common analogy that's used—the cycle of life cycle of plants or pregnancy. But another way of thinking about it that I like to use comes from storytelling. The natural ebb and flow stories have structures, and as the moon is waxing from the seeding point of the story, let's call it, and it's reaching the full moon, then the drama and the conflict or the tension inherent in the characters and the plot is reaching its critical mass.

That critical mass doesn't mean the movie is over, or the play, or the book, or the novella, or short story. It means that it's reaching its most critical moment of intensity, and from that space forward, the resolution and ending of the story will occur next. So, a lunar eclipse brings things to their maximal point of intensity, and the way that we handle the conflicts and tensions around a full moon usually play out throughout the remainder of the cycle as the process starts to resolve and the tensions relax.

But what that means when there's nine and 18 years behind us of tension building is that we're dealing with a tension that has a lot of history behind it. A normal moon cycle carries the weight of several weeks, and depending on where it lands in your chart and what it's touching in your chart, it could carry more than that. But for most of us, a generic lunar cycle is not going to carry the same depth of narrative history that a lunar eclipse does. So things reaching a place of maximal drama.

Now there are a few factors that will take this drama over the top. If, for example, the eclipse lands within three degrees of a natal planet in Pisces, that would be around the fourth degree of Pisces. So let's say zero to seven degrees of Pisces. That's pretty broad, in my opinion. It'd probably be even better if it was like, I don't know, one to five degrees of Pisces, or two to four degrees of Pisces, or two to five, or something like that.

Keeping it within like one to three degrees is ideal. If the lunar eclipse, which is at about four, it's almost five Pisces, so if it's conjoining something in your chart around that point, that will also carry a lot more weight, and the drama is typically a lot more pronounced. If the eclipse is landing on the ascendant, descendant, the degrees, or the midheaven or IC, those degrees will also carry more weight.

They are a little louder and brighter in terms of the history and importance or relevance to our lives. The third factor is angularity. If you are a mutable sign rising, which means you have Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces rising, then the eclipse will be landing in one of your angular houses. That's also typically a little bit louder. So these are all factors that we have to take into consideration because not all eclipses are created equal, if that makes sense.

So when we think about a lunar eclipse in the sign of Pisces, we also have a number of other significations to keep in mind. One of those significations would be things surrounding mysticism and romanticism. Romanticism can be about what we're attracted to, what we find beautiful or uplifting, what captures our imagination, what provides us with a sense of inspiration, or even a kind of romantic idealism or longing.

Following that path for many of us constitutes a significant portion of our life. The people we fall in love with, the subjects that we find deeply compelling, the things we're drawn to that we just can't help ourselves about. Also, the mystical sense of Pisces being a Jupiter-ruled sign, a sign of faith and a sign of longing for redemption or salvation or the hope that takes us home to God or something like that.

And so Pisces eclipses can bring to a lunar eclipse, especially right, can bring to a head the path that we've been on when it comes to longing, hoping, fantasizing, or the arc of some kind of religious or spiritual crusade or quest. The lunar eclipse can bring those things to a head, meaning that they're over. They've reached a place of critical. They've done what they've meant. They have served the purpose they were meant to serve.

Ah, I can't talk. They've served the purpose that they were meant to. There we go. That works. And then from that moment forward, we have to reevaluate our faith, our beliefs, or what inspires us. So inspiration can be at a place of exhausting itself. Faith or hope or a vision of some kind can reach its natural point of culmination, closure, and release.

It's also quite common for us to, at the lunar eclipse point, for something that has been inspiring us to reach a place of greater momentum, and you know, like sometimes people have real breakthroughs with respect to the things that inspire them. If you're a musician or an artist, these are sometimes peak moments of creative release or realizing your potential. Or if you're on some kind of mystical path and you put a lot of practice and study in, this might be a time when you're starting to really realize the fruits of that process.

So it doesn't have to be about disillusionment or letting go of old things, although that's quite common for lunar eclipses. It can also be about the fruit ripening and getting to taste, you know, reap what's been sown in positive ways. This can also mean that there are new visions that are going to form because previous versions of faith or inspiration are done. They again served their purpose, but now something new can form in its place.

Another thing that I would watch for would be about the kinds of longings we have and whether they're healthy for us or not. Inspiration and longing is part of life. And yet, most mystical traditions tell us that what inspires us is not always a reliable source of action in the world. For example, sometimes my meditation practice really inspires me, but I have to show up with a kind of discipline to do it every day. I can't just rely on inspiration.

I can't just rely on, you know, the exuberance emotionally, the charismatic pull that sometimes my meditation practice has. It's just not there every day, but if you show up regardless of if it's there or not, whether you're a musician or a writer or a meditator, then you start developing something that has real staying power, and this is something that most of us have to cultivate.

Even if we really love something, you have to learn how to show up and just keep doing it, even on the days where you don't love it so much, and a lunar eclipse in Pisces can really bring up this distinction between some days it's really appealing and satisfying emotionally, and other days it's not. But you can't just quit if your emotions aren't in it 24/7.

So anyhow, these are, I think, a good survey of some of the things that can come up around Pisces lunar eclipses. Can also be about something reaching a point where, like, let's say for example that you have something that inspires you but is not so healthy for you, like drugs or alcohol. A very common Pisces theme would be replacing inspiration with drugs or intoxication.

You may reach a point at a Pisces lunar eclipse where you recognize that is a poor substitute for a different kind of motivation or vision for my life that I need, which is healthier. A lot of people go to rehab, for example, around something like a Pisces lunar eclipse. So sometimes it's also about realizing what has been life-giving isn't actually healthy for me, and something there's something better that needs to take its place.

All righty. Well, enough of that. Let's look at eclipses now. Let's look at your horoscopes now. And what I'm going to do is let me show you. So for every sign that we look for, I'm going to pull a card from the Nicepso card table to accompany us, so we'll use that as inspiration. I think you guys will enjoy this. Let's go back to the screen and move through our horoscopes.

So let's start with Aries. You can listen to these for your Sun or rising sign. If you are an Aries rising, then the lunar eclipse is taking place in your 12th house. This means that specifically looking at the blind spots that you have, unconscious dimensions of life, is going to be really important. A lunar eclipse here can bring things to light that have been undermining you, or have been things that you haven't wanted to look at, but now you really have to for one reason or another.

Anything that's an undermining influence that comes from within ourselves exists in the 12th house. Anything that is an undermining influence that comes from somewhere or someone else can be found in the 12th house. The need for solitude or retreat from the world can be found here. The need for greater privacy or inwardness, and some degree of moksha or liberation from entanglements, can be found here. But it's deep work, it's deep inner work that's taking place with this eclipse for Aries.

Let's flip a card for you and see what comes up. I'm going to flip back over to the personal side, and I'm just doing this on the fly. I have no idea. Like, I'm not. I don't know these in advance. That's a really good one. So the Fool is such a, you know, it's just like the quintessential starting point of the tarot. But when I think about a 12th house lunar eclipse, I think about blind spots that can be really naive or innocent.

A lot of Aries people that I know, Aries rising people, are really sort of wholesome and pure in terms of they're not being like guile or duplicity, but there can be almost like a naivete or yeah, like the Fool. There's a sort of sweet innocence of being on an Aries path, but sometimes there's also a steep learning curve because of the innocence. It's a bit like watching, you know, a young person starting off in life sort of innocently foolish.

You know, this is the Fool card. Now, that foolishness is also a virtue in many ways. So, for Aries, what I'm thinking about with that card coming up is just the beginning of a new phase of life that's born of maybe a little bit deeper understanding of where you are, of what is really helpful and what isn't helpful. What is undermining you and what isn't, and just becoming wiser and more mature, but not losing any of the innocence and sort of sweetness that comes with the Aries energy.

Which is so good at blazing a path and taking risks and doing things out of this sort of wholesome, like youthfulness, you can't lose that. But you can also become more aware at the same time. So it's like a bit of a growing up, but a growing up that doesn't lose the wholesome innocence of that youthful Aries spirit. All right. Well, some ideas there. All right. Let's go on to Taurus rising.

Okay. For Taurus rising, we have the lunar eclipse taking place in your 11th house. With this house comes the evaluation of our social place in the world, and by that, I don't mean our vocation. I mean what cultures, groups, communities, movements, and vision of success or popularity or all of us. There's a social dimension to life that all of us are trying to attain some degree of happiness and satisfaction in, you know.

For me, it might be as a Taurus rising, and you know, Pisces in the 11th house. It might be the mystical communities, or the religious communities, or the sense of belonging to something that is sort of bigger and more Piscean. I've spent a lot of time in psychedelic, religious, mystical types of spaces in communities my whole life, and a lot of what I consider to be my place in the world and what defines social happiness or belonging is very Piscean as a Taurus rising, right?

So, and that could look different from Taurus to. But the point is that when you have a lunar eclipse taking place here, evaluations of where you fit in in the world and where you feel you belong are changing. There's a long cycle or history of evaluating your place in the world, evaluating groups and friends and communities and a sense of belonging that's reaching a place of culmination and closure.

And as that's happening, that may mean leaving some groups and joining others, evaluating certain kinds of social environments, and looking at the fruits that they have provided you with. Maybe feeling some level of satisfaction and deepening your commitments, or going even further in the direction of one community or another, or maybe realizing that a season has wound down and is reaching closure. Let's see what the tarot has to say when we bring this up here.

So we had the Fool for Aries. Let's take a look for Taurus. So the King of Wands—that's fascinating. It makes me wonder for all of us Tauruses out there if we're looking at our roles in communities as leaders. The King of Wands is often a card of leadership and authority, and it's also about what priorities hold some measure of authority over us. Like, if you're someone who has certain philosophical, moral, political, or religious values that orient things, they are like ruling values that dictate which direction community, friends, and groups have to go in.

If you're also looking at community in terms of leadership, if you are, you know, I'm thinking of the Nightlight community. Like, what is the direction you're feeling led to lead a community in, if you have some role of leadership or influence in a community that you belong to, that could be coming up. Now, it also might have to do with institutions and your evaluation of those institutions and the leadership and the direction of those institutions and how you feel like you belong or don't belong with them going forward.

So that could also come to mind. All right. Well, those are just a few thoughts that I think pair pretty nicely for Tauruses. Let's move on and let's put Gemini on the ascendant. Now, this is directly landing in your career house, the 10th. So, if you're a Gemini sun or rising, we're talking about the fruit on the tree being in the 10th house of career. Sometimes that means that you're able to see the results of a lot of work that you've put into your career showing up right now.

Maybe that's a fantastic thing. Maybe there's rewards or promotion or praise or some degree of notoriety or upward movement. But it could also mean that there's disillusionments or disappointments, jobs coming to an end, projects winding down. You've gone as far as you can go with a certain interest, or even maybe a certain field or vocation itself. Maybe it's time to change directions.

The culmination of this cycle is taking place in the career house, which means that there's a lot of history here. So, where have you been over the past nine years, 18 years, with respect to the arc of your career, your involvement in the world, your public reputation, what people know you to be and to be doing with your life? So, there's a real deep evaluation of these things taking place right now.

Let's see what the tarot has to say. Let's cast a single card here for Geminis—King of Cups. That's interesting because another King card showing up, but this one to me has a lot more to do with emotional leadership and what leads the way on an emotional level? That could be about what you feel connected to on the level of empathy, compassion, emotionality, or emotional intelligence. Don't discount how you're feeling right now.

In other words, and what kinds of actions need to be taken, what kinds of executive decisions, what kinds of evaluations or judgments you need to reach right now about your career that are rooted in what you're feeling and your emotional intelligence? The King of Cups is about leadership that's also empathic and sensitive, and you don't discount the leading intelligence of the emotional body of your instincts.

Just because it's not rational, you have to listen to what feelings and relationships are saying. What living human beings that are in your workplace have to do with what's happening right now. There's a very human and compassionate element to this eclipse that the King of Cups seems to be bringing here, and the King of Cups could also be about emotional stability and emotional leadership. So, if you're in charge of people, you might be.

This is an eclipse that could be asking you, in other words, to be a lot more sensitive. It's easy for air signs rising to be a bit more on the rational side. This is asking you to be intuitive, be thoughtful, and sensitive to what people are feeling, and lead from that place, which you can do without sacrificing the rational side of things either, so consider that balance. The King of Cups in that 10th house can also have to do with transitions of leadership or power taking place that have an emotional component to them.

All right, so for Cancer's rising or sun sign, we have the lunar eclipse taking place in your ninth house. That is the place of religion and philosophy, of Dharma with the capital D, which means what is the nature of reality, what is the nature of God, what is the nature of the cosmos. Can these things be known? And if so, how much of them can be known? Probably very little in our limited capacity, but that doesn't mean nothing can be known.

And so the ninth house eclipses are about cycles of wisdom and learning. What have you learned to this point in your life? What is manifesting with respect to your spiritual, intellectual, or philosophical understanding? Where is your participation in religious groups or different spiritual settings or educational environments changing. Are there teachers that are coming or going right now? Is there a path of learning that has reached its peak?

And you say thank you. I'm putting those books away. I might take interest in a different set of books on my shelf and a different topic. Is there also some level of philosophical understanding about yourself or life or reality that's leading to a kind of overall change of direction or faith or a paradigm shift? So for Cancerians, this is something that's been cooking for a while. There's a long history behind this.

Let's take a look at the tarot and see what the tarot has to say. So, pull another card here. We'll put this away for Cancers. Interesting. The Eight of Pentacles is a card that is often associated with apprenticeship and the things that we have an ongoing investment in working and developing. Sometimes this card can be a little bit like a workaholic card, but I frequently see this card as someone who has done a lot of work and a lot of learning, and is probably not done yet.

This can mean that you're going back to school or that you're deepening your studies of something in the ninth house, or that apprenticeship continues, or maybe that you're nearing the completion of a long process of learning or study. It could be about the direction you're taking with respect to what you want to build, what skills you want to develop, what education is required, or if you're a teacher, this can be about what you're building with respect to curriculum or the things that you are teaching others.

There may be some wisdom taking place here around work, work in the world, exhaustion, fatigue. You know, kind of overextending yourself. A little bit of a workaholic card sometimes. So be aware of those things, and some wisdom may be coming in around that, but yeah, Eight of Pentacles to me suggests the path of apprenticeship and learning and questions about what's motivating you right now as an ongoing student of life and an ongoing seeker of wisdom or even skill.

So for Cancerians, some inspiration from the Eight of Pentacles. Let's go to Leo's. For Leo, the lunar eclipse is taking place in your eighth house, which is a place of deep karmic exchanges with other people. Attachments and entanglements exist here, and liberation from them occurs here, which might mean that certain karmic entanglements, bonds, or bondage is being loosened or liberated during this eclipse or through the eclipse window, which is often three to six months afterward.

This can mean that any kinds of relationships that are not reciprocal or fair have to be evaluated and the terms changed or the contract released. This can have something to do with the death or release of attachments that naturally occurs in life when we lose people, when relationships end, when seasons of investment in a certain relationship end, and a person moves or changes jobs, or we break up with someone.

There's a period of evaluating the fruits of that process and saying, "This is what I received from this person in this process. This is what was a little disappointing. This is what I learned from the give and take of this or that dynamic." We can also think about debts being cleared here, or penalties that have to be paid—very eighth house topic. We can also think about who owns what, or who is responsible for what, how things are shared or distributed evenly or unevenly in relationships.

Any kinds of attachments that we have to relinquish. That's a strong part of a lunar eclipse in the eighth house, so something that served its purpose that now has to be let go of. Now let's take a look at the tarot for Leo's. We'll flip one card here. Ah, interesting. We're getting all the kings. That's fascinating. So, the King of Pentacles here, to me, because the Pentacles and earthy suit can be so practical.

We're looking at what has authority over us on a material level. I can't help but think of the natural dichotomy between the eighth and the second house that's coming up for Leo's. What you own, what you possess, who owns or possesses what? Even something like the King of Pentacles as an established figure of authority or wealth that you know we have to pay attention to. Will they give us the inheritance, or you know, will they make our life easy or difficult?

Will they help us when we need it. What will I? How will I be obligated to this figure? Potentially, you know, the King of Pentacles can be someone who gives, but also has some strict and rigid terms for lending his support. The King of Pentacles is also very practical, and this eclipse is very emotional and watery. So, how are we balancing things like practical needs with emotional realities? Comes to my mind here as well.

All right, well, let's go back and let's move on to Virgo rising. So, for Virgo rising, the eclipse is taking place directly in your seventh house, which is the place of relationships. This is a time of harvesting old cycles and harvesting the karma of a lot of a lengthy process in relationships. What have you learned over the past nine, 18 years in love and relationships. How is your partner transforming right now?

How is your dating life transforming? What is culminating or changing for a spouse's job or their values or their family? A lot of the times, the eclipses in the seventh house bring up changes that are peripheral to us insofar as they're happening to our spouse or for our spouse or partner, but they still have a dramatic impact on us because we're in a relationship with that person, an intimate one.

How is intimacy changing or sexuality? What? How are your needs changing? Even if you're not dating, are you just becoming aware that you need a different kind of dating experience, or you have clarity now, maybe on something you want or need that's going to shift what you look for, or who you go out with, or don't go out with. There can be work done on old relationships.

You don't even have to be with someone to be maybe reaching a place of healing or deeper insight with respect to a relationship that ended a while ago. So the deeper work, though, is in the sphere of relationships, love, sexuality, marriage, and more interpersonal dynamics with others. Let's take a look at the tarot for Virgos. The Hermit. That's fascinating, because here I think the juxtaposition is between being alone and independent, or being joined or merged with other people.

The Hermit needs a lot of time alone, and needs solitude and contemplativeness, or needs an element of mysticism and removal from the world. If you're a very practical, earthy Virgo, could you be letting a Hermit into your life who has a more mystical, otherworldly orientation? If you are a Virgo and someone has been highly demanding on an emotional level, psychological level, and you need to withdraw and be complete unto yourself. Could that be the case?

Could the Hermit card be speaking to a need for greater privacy or apartness? The Hermit stands apart from the world in wisdom and union with the divine, almost. It's as though an eclipse in this house could be saying, "Well, what's really important to me is sort of otherworldly, and is that a part of my intimate relationships or not? Because if it isn't, the Hermit's not going to be super happy.

If a relationship is keeping us tethered to the world, and we can't read our books or have a more spiritual path, that's going to be troubling for the Hermit. So something about that juxtaposition between worldly involvement and disengagement with the world seems to be at play here. Let's consider that. So we'll go back now, and we'll advance the wheel to Libra.

So for Librans, we have the lunar eclipse in Pisces in the sixth house, a place of work, sacrifice, service, labor. The sixth house is where we have to confront the fact that life takes a lot of work and upkeep and sacrifice and maintenance and constantly dealing with hardships and overcoming them, being persevering. There's a lot of good character that we build in the sixth house, but it's born of having to meet the difficulties or labor of life.

And so, for Librans right now, the upkeep or difficulty could be with your health. It could be with how you're managing certain conflicts around family or work. It could be the kind of peace or rest that you're realizing that you need because maybe there's just too much conflict or stress. An eclipse with Pisces eclipse in this house could bring your attention to cycles of stress and conflict, sacrifice and labor that are exhausting themselves.

And you're saying, "I can't do it," or "My body can't do it," or "My mind can't do it." So, what does the next chapter look like, so that there's a bit more rest or ease? You're never going to do away with stressors entirely, but maybe something needs to change. This could also be with respect to health or your body's stress, and it could also be about things that you have felt, things that you felt inspired by to give and dedicate and sacrifice toward changing or shifting somehow.

Or maybe becoming clearer that something you really care about requires even more, and you're ready to commit even more. But I would look at all of those things for Libra in the sixth. Now let's take a look at the tarot. Interesting, the Four of Wands, which sometimes looks like two people who are celebrating, or maybe just got married and are at a banquet feast celebrating. There's some sense here of initial achievement and of celebration.

I mean, the Four is early on in the suit. We have a long journey to go through the story of the rest of the wands, but this card has the feeling of victory, celebration after maybe some initial troubles or difficulties. What comes to my mind here, though, is about peace and ease and relaxation and enjoyment. This is a card that clearly points toward, to me it's almost like a picnic with your friends or your family or a celebratory gathering.

Why would that show up in the sixth house here? Well, maybe a lot of effort has gone in and you've completed something, and there can be some enjoyment. Or maybe you're nearing the finish line and you're starting to shift your priorities because as you get closer to something like retirement, for example, you're starting to say, okay, pace of life priorities need to shift so that a little bit of ease and enjoyment becomes more of the focus.

So the other thing that comes to my mind here is just the idea that conflict can be dissolved. If there has been conflict, this eclipse may bring a sense of peace or relief of tension. All right, let's put that card away. Let's go back to our workspace. This is why the third house is also related to things like peers, competitors, siblings, because how well we get along, how well we exist within our own ego, subjective ego center, is also a matter of how we get along with other people in peer dynamics. So when there's a lunar eclipse here, we're thinking about peer dynamics changing, sibling relationships changing, our ego structure changing, ideally so that we can feel happier and get along with people better.

But also, things like writing and learning and speaking and communicating can change face or shape with an eclipse in this house. And here I think we would talk about mental authority, intellectual authority, and intellectual ego in a sense of intelligence and pride. We might be talking about conflict or competition between minds or brains or intellects. We could also be talking about what ruling thoughts or thought patterns or psychological patterns are part of our makeup, and the intersection between the rational part of our brain and, let's say, the emotional part—the emotional intelligence and the rational intelligence are almost like a juxtaposition between an airy King of Swords and a lunar eclipse in a water sign like Pisces.

Well, maybe there's some opportunity to work those two things together. All right. Well, who and what has authority mentally, intellectually? That's fascinating. All right, Aquarius comes next, and we have the lunar eclipse in Pisces in the second house, place of money, finances, resources, and assets. Our livelihood, but it's time, money, energy, and resources, not just money. And this also speaks to what supports us and what props us up and how we receive support, where it comes from, how it comes in.

And that's not always easy. But the Ace of Swords has a sense of like we can do this and make something, or build something, or develop something. But it's going to take time, money, energy, resources, and maybe quite a long path ahead, but an exciting beginning point if changes are at hand for our Aquarians right now.

Last but not least, we have Pisces, which is the eclipse is in your first house. That's your very nature. We've got a major arcana, and the Emperor is really about who and what has a really strong, firm sense of control and authority. Emperor is a bit similar to the King of Wands that we looked at earlier, but to me, for Pisces rising, the Emperor is all about: Are you—do you have your hands on the steering wheel of your life?

And if not, then who has power? Where is it? Where do you need to take it back from? There might be a meaningful conflict, a power struggle that has to be engaged in, so that you can bring back some degree or measure of control to your own life. The Emperor is also about what programs are you running unconsciously that have a lot of power over you, and that you're allowing to just keep going, even though it might be detrimental to who you are, your health, your future.

So, looking really carefully, being seated on the throne in your own strength, in your own convictions—I hesitate to use the word sovereignty, but it is pretty appropriate for the Emperor.
