Coming Soon — A Lunar Eclipse in Pisces On Fixed Star Fomalhaut!

Happy Monday, everybody! Today we're going to talk about the upcoming lunar eclipse that's taking place in the sign of Pisces. Now, this eclipse is the next major moment in eclipse season because eclipses follow one another: new moon solar eclipse to full moon lunar eclipse. The eclipse is happening next week. We're going to preview that eclipse today and give you some things to watch for.

It's also significant that this eclipse is taking place on one of the major ancient fixed stars, Fomalhaut, which we spent some time looking at this past spring of 2026 on the channel. So you may remember some of those episodes. Well, we're back in Fomalhaut classroom and we're going to take a look at that today. I've got a list of five things to watch for, given the eclipse in Pisces, and then a separate list of three things to watch for given the influence of Fomalhaut.

And I hope you'll find this interesting. We'll do horoscopes in a separate episode, so today is just going to be a deep dive into the meaning of this eclipse in Pisces. So here you can see the moon opposite the sun. That's a full moon. That's taking place Thursday, August 27. So that's next week, and we're going to be covering this from a few more angles as the eclipse approaches today. I want to give you a list of five things to watch for, given the general meaning of the full moon lunar eclipse in Pisces, as well as the fact that sitting on this fourth degree of Pisces, we map the fixed star Fomalhaut, which is a true traditional ancient fixed star that had quite a bit of power and importance in ancient astrology.

So there's some really interesting meanings that this eclipse is going to have by virtue of that connection as well. So we're going to look at all of that today, and I've got a list for you guys of things to watch. So let's start by visiting some of the significations of Fomalhaut, so that we understand exactly what the influence of this fixed star is going to be on the eclipse.

It is one of the traditional four royal stars of ancient astrology. Ancient Persian astrologers chose these fixed stars because they were thought to mark the four seasonal pivots of the year. So they go way, way back prior to the advent of Hellenistic astrology, or what we know as horoscopic astrology. Fomalhaut was the watcher of the South and the guardian of the winter solstice. The fixed star is part of the constellation of Pisces, and so that's just a little bit of the background.

But its meaning is fascinating. It's not physically in the constellation Pisces, but it's mapped onto about four degrees of the sign of Pisces in the zodiac because of precession. So it is a relatively bright star. I think it's the 16th brightest star in the sky, something like that. And its name comes from the Arabic famala, familho. If I'm pronouncing that right, it almost looks like familhut, right? But I believe it's Fomalhaut. I looked up several different pronunciations, and everyone was saying Fomalhaut.

So maybe I've got that wrong. You never quite know when you're searching the interwebs, I guess. But its meaning is the mouth of the fish, and so it appears in the southern fish just beneath Aquarius, and it's almost as though it's drinking the stream of water pouring from the water bearer's vessel in this open mouth of the fish, and that's the point at which the celestial waters are being received in the constellation lore.

So, if Aquarius is pouring something sort of universal or divine from the heavens, and the fish is receiving it and consuming it, there's this sense that Fomalhaut is the passageway through which divine inspiration comes through the mouth, and so Fomalhaut is often associated with poets, seers, visionaries, teachers, prophets, musicians, anyone who sort of receives in their mouth and transmits something of a divine nature.

However, the same mouth that can speak of this heavenly truth can bless and uplift, or it can potentially deceive or misguide, and so there's that double-sided sense of inspiration or deception. In Hellenistic astrology, it's of the nature of Venus and Mercury. So planets were given in combination to represent something of the nature of a fixed star. Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos assigns Venus and Mercury to Fomalhaut.

Venus and Mercury together would speak to speech and art, or music, poetry, and messengers, things like that. So, the fixed star often will embody ideas and the conveyance or communication of ideas that are beautiful, appealing, divine, unique. The poet, the musician, the storyteller, the mystic, the visionary teacher, the inspired cultural speaker, even an influencer, to a certain extent, though usually with a real kind of poetic, mystical, artistic quality.

But both planets, especially in their combinations, can be capable of the silver tongue and the seduction. So the water that it's receiving usually in the way that I've heard Fomalhaut broken down is the water of Aquarius. So it's some higher, imaginal or spiritual or intellectual understanding. It's prophecy. It's revelation. It's celestial knowledge, and it's a flood of life-giving wisdom that pours through the mouth of the inspired Fomalhaut native.

Yeah, so now there is, I think, with all of the royal stars there's usually a test: a test of integrity, a test of morality, a test of purity. Fomalhaut's gifts have to be... I mean, there's inspired musicians, but an inspired musician who transmits something that feels like it's of a higher nature of beauty, intelligence, could be susceptible to heroin addiction or something like that.

I think it was Osho. I can't remember. I think it was Osho who had Fomalhaut pretty close to the mid heaven. I can't remember exactly, but there's a long history of cult-like leaders who are very inspiring, very dazzling, intoxicating. But there's something going on. Like if you saw the documentary about Osho, which I watched at the recommendation of a friend some years ago now, and I forget what it was called, but it was all about the Osho community, and there was all sorts of really shady drug stuff happening.

That's very Fomalhaut. Two things can be true. Many people could have felt really inspired by Osho's teachings, and there could be drug abuse going on behind the scenes or something. With Fomalhaut, also in its duality, the sort of brilliant, inspired otherworldliness and the very human, flawed deception or shadow quality, there is a teaching about pedestals, which is very much in the air right now.

I think with Jupiter opposite Pluto, Leo to Aquarius axis being activated, there are very few among us who are like truly elevated, you know, saintly level pure, and so most inspiration that we see in the world, if we put it up on a pedestal and assume that person is walking on air, we're going to find out they're walking on ground eventually, and that often is a teaching for us as much as anything.

Because you know, when we're in touch with something divine, it can make us lose touch in our own psyches with the ground, and to recognize that all messengers that carry something sacred are usually humans as well, and I think we live at a time where it's easy because of celebrity culture and influencer culture and podcasts everywhere, and even my own podcast or whatever. It's easy to project things onto people that inspire us.

I had this happen to me multiple times throughout my life with different spiritual leaders, gurus. I'm sure you have as well. Where when you realize they're a human, you can try to demonize them, right? Because you go, they messed up, they disappointed me because I thought I had finally found someone who could really point me like a north star in the right way, and their humanness makes you feel betrayed, abandoned.

And obviously, there's some acts of deception or shadow that are much greater than others, right? I'm not saying it's all equal out there, but Fomalhaut is a fixed star that frequently reminds us that you will be inspired in your life by people who are also just as messed up as you are, and you will be inspiring for people, despite the fact that you're messed up, you know. So there's something we're reconciling ourselves to.

There's something very perfect and ideal about the things that come through the metaphorical mouth of Fomalhaut. It's really heavenly stuff, and that means often it'll bring us into the grappling with our humanness, with our fallenness, and by that I don't mean the Christian sense. I mean the sense that we are earth beings, and there's something that comes through the mouth of earth beings with Fomalhaut that feels like it's alien, celestial, divine. It's like archangel material.

You know, it can feel like sort of like whoa. Anyway, so that's a little bit about Fomalhaut. I hope it helps. But before I get into some of the things to watch for in this eclipse that speak to Fomalhaut, let's just talk about Pisces. I've got five things to watch for that are really just about Pisces. Let's get into those first.

So the first one on my list. Remember that this is the yin sign of Jupiter and Venus comes at the brink of spring, and the first thing on my list to watch for around this eclipse, and it's going to land in different areas of your chart, and we will do horoscopes later. But the first thing I want everyone to think about is living a faith versus ideal thoughts about faith. I think this is a thing for all of us.

Pisces with the Jupiter Venus influence is a place where your hope, your imagination, your longing, your fantasies, and your sense of what inspires you, what aims you toward ideals that are worth following, whether they're artistic, or sensual, romantic, or metaphysical or religious. Pisces inspires, and it gets us to chase a dream or follow a path that feels like it's guiding us home in a transcendental sense.

But an eclipse in this sign, a lunar eclipse, which brings things to culmination, and we can really see the fruits of something and understand something at a much bigger level because a cycle is coming to a place of completion. Well, an eclipse in Pisces can expose the difference between living a faith path and having all of the ideas about one. If you're being tested, for example, right now to embody what you believe, at a level that is more profound and scary, scarier than you've ever experienced before, that would be normal for this eclipse.

Testing of your faith, the difference between the fantasy of your faith and the lived path of your faith. It is fine to say I am all about peace, love, and understanding, but when you get into a space where that has to be the guiding value, where you make a difficult choice or take a difficult stand, you are being asked to actually live into something that you believe. For many of us, we know the ideas, the right ideas.

We know about compassion or saints, and we think about enlightened beings, and we think about meditation, and we think about elevating our consciousness, and all of this, right? We all have like an almanac of spiritual vocabulary, or a dictionary. But what does it mean when your beliefs are being tested, and the faith that you know to be the right thing to live into, you actually are getting an opportunity to live into, to be more honest, embodied, resilient in your beliefs, and they're not just ideals.

They're not just a bumper sticker, and the test of that is usually hard, and by hard I just mean you go, I've been living in a space where I can just manage having ideas about what I believe, but now I have to actually do something about it. Number two on my list is perpetual longing. Pisces is continually reaching toward the ideal, the beautiful, the true, the good, the meaningful, salvation, redemption, healing, transcendence.

And yet, as we all know, this kind of longing can become a way of not inhabiting the life that we're living, and to me, this eclipse can bring culminations around desires that have kept us searching, waiting, hoping, wandering, never quite feeling at home or like the life we're living is good enough. So sometimes a lunar eclipse in Pisces, in other words, can bring about this revelation that the thing, the ideal, the hope, the fantasy, the dream that we've been seeking is a little impossible.

And that it can't inhabit the form that we want it to, or the search itself, the longing itself, the restlessness itself, which we thought was so inspiring and purposeful, we're starting to see is actually the obstacle to feeling grounded and at home, and so a lunar eclipse in Pisces can be a compromise. It can be like, okay, you can still be a dreamer, you can be filled with hope and imagination, but can you compromise and accept things the way that they are?

One of the easiest things is to forgive, or to let go, or to accept, if we have been in the process of having to do that for ourselves in everyday little moments frequently. By that I mean, okay, I'm losing control of the situation. Oh well, or man, I just messed up. Okay, I messed up. I'll seek forgiveness. I'll try to do better. Okay, someone else messed up. You know what? They're human. I'm going to give them a pass because the stress isn't worth it.

All of those little moments that we've had, right, where we just go, my ideal right now is going to cause more stress than it's worth. I'll give you an example. Sometimes there's these moments in parenting, and I'm sure you guys have run into this before, where your kids want to do something, and like by principle they ought not to do it, but you just sort of go, "Fuck it. Just let them do it." You know they want to stay up a little later, and you're trying to stick to the bedtime routine.

But frequently Ashley and I will just like, we need a little adult time to stay up. And right now, if we insist on everything going to bed right now, rather than giving them 30 more minutes to play, we'll get what we need. The principle will relax a little bit, okay, but that doesn't mean it's lost. Do you know what I'm saying? Everyone knows what I'm talking about. It's these meaningful compromises that you have to make.

But life is like that. There are these inflection points in our journey where we say I have to just be a little compromising. That doesn't mean that suddenly I don't have ideals or visions or principles or faith or beliefs. It just means that I have to relax them right now because shit's also very human, and there's that Fomalhaut influence that resonates with the sign of Pisces.

If we don't make room for our humanness and the messiness of life, and we don't have some grace and good humor about it, our fantasies, our principles, our beliefs in higher things will become sources of judgment and stress. All right, number three is inspiration. Finding a vessel. I was thinking about the water, and I was thinking about how sometimes containers for water are called vessels, and I was thinking about how artistic and imaginative the sign of Pisces is.

But the opposite sign of Virgo usually means that in order for them to be made manifest, they need a practical container. So that means you need a practice, you need a schedule, you need to develop craft, you need commitment, or you need concrete ways that something can be used to help other people, or to be of service, or that they can be practically employed. So, the sign of Pisces, the lunar eclipse here, can say the inspiration is reaching this point where either it dissolves because it's impractical, or it finds a practical vessel, or it finds a practical medium or channel.

Number four on my list are victim-redeemer dynamics. So Pisces, as a sign, can become really wrapped up in cycles of sacrifice, rescue, martyrdom, salvation. We may feel like we have to be the one to save others. We may feel like we may be perpetually in a state of thinking that everything is lost and needs finding, that history needs redeeming, that culture is lost and needs restoring, that the past and all of the good things from the past need to come back because we've gotten off track, or that we need to discard the past and go into a brave new future.

But frequently there is this feeling of lost and found, or messed up and saved, or victim and redeemer. And these are all real dynamics. So don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that any of it isn't real, but it's also an archetypal way of seeing and experiencing reality that at times needs to be exhausted. By that I mean that we need to reach a point where we go, nothing needs saving. Everything is fine. Nothing needs redeeming. Everything is already redeemed. There's nothing out of place. There's nothing wrong. There's nothing lost, right?

And even though there can also be a reality in which there are things that are lost and need saving, sometimes the thing that needs redeeming is the whole redemption narrative. I remember going through a number of really powerful ayahuasca ceremonies that were really kind of like these deep commentaries on the Christian faith I was raised in. And we can constantly think to ourselves that the meaning of life is to redeem all of human history.

That's a weight, man. You know, especially when many of the spiritual traditions on our planet say that it's this particular thing, this sort of restless craving for being better, that is weirdly at the root of a lot of our suffering. And then, of course, there are very real ways in which we're always trying to get better, aren't there? I'm trying to be a better dad. I'm trying to be a better person. Trying to be a better astrologer. Trying to be a better husband.

And it's like real chop wood, carry water. You just put your head down and keep going, and just do your best to improve. But you know what I mean. When you get to that point where you go, the improvement narrative is tiring, and so this eclipse can reveal where service and compassion and salvation and redemption and hope are all sort of exhausting, and acceptance of what is can actually be very redeeming.

That doesn't mean that there's one way that's better than another. It's just being aware of the tension of opposites. That a full moon, lunar eclipse in Pisces can bring Piscean stuff to a point of just oversaturation. It's like there's just too much of trying to save and heal everyone and everything, even myself. Bless this mess, you know, and take a walk.

So, at the very least, if we are going to be in service and trying to heal and save and help and redeem and lift and all of this, there have to be times where we recognize that we need a break from that narrative, so that we can rest in spaces of utter acceptance. I remember Thich Nhat Hanh saying that if activism doesn't start with actively working on embodying peace in your own heart, in your body, in your consciousness, then you will be exhausting yourself and trying to address peace with an energy or a quality of unrest and disease.

And that even though you think you're doing the right thing, if doing the right thing doesn't come from the right consciousness that you've cultivated, you may be perpetuating cycles of further harm that perpetuate need for more salvation. You know what I mean. These are subtle things that we have to learn. So it's not throw out trying to help or bury your head in the sand. It's how do you? I actually heard someone one time say, you know, even if you're on the Titanic and it's sinking, the service attitude is I'm going to bail water anyway.

And I think it's a little bit like maybe that's a little dark, right? But it's a little bit like that where it's like you have to give up hope at times that anything can be ultimately saved or healed or redeemed. That way you can bail water with no attachment to the result. Do you know what I'm saying? The peacefulness sometimes actually comes when we let go of everything that is unpeaceful about all the yearning and dreaming and longing for paradise.

Anesthetics and awakening is my last one, which is Pisces will often cope with the pain of reality, the imperfection present in the face of all the longing is the contrast of what isn't perfect, and how do we cope with living with unrest and dissatisfaction? Well, we go to sleep, we entertain fantasies, we get into escapist spirituality or entertainment or substances or romance, and an eclipse in Pisces can actually remove the things that we've been using to anaesthetize ourselves.

And so we get back to... For example, most of you know this on the channel, but in my early 20s, I was really in a dark space for a couple years. Had a problem with opiates, and that's a big part of my story personally. And I'm sure all of you have maybe had periods of your life where you've been dependent on something to just numb the pain. And when you take it away at first, it's like there's the pain again.

Why did I do this? This is painful. But when you stick with it and you just allow yourself to live day by day with the pain, many people find that the return to sensitivity and a more awakened consciousness that's not being numbed out is rewarding because it turns out that time heals, but the time has to be awake. You have to be actually present and not checking out. But that journey can happen with a lunar eclipse in Pisces.

A path of sobriety, a path of healing, a path of not numbing yourself and of awakening, and then allowing yourself to feel, to let feeling come back, and be little by little healing, because it turns out that if you can stay present to pain and suffering, pain and suffering become like a sensitizer. They actually, compassion, empathy, sensitivity, they grow when we don't push pain away, but learn to hold space for it.

And then we become sensitive living beings who can experience. There's a kind of divine rightness to every feeling and situation that we cultivate when we learn to be present and not check out. You know what I'm saying? Okay. Well, these are some ideas that I had about this eclipse, and I hope you find them useful. I have three things to say about Fomalhaut. Let's get into those last, or last but not least.

The moral test that accompanies the vision. Fomalhaut can signify dreams, visions, hopes, fantasies, whether they are artistic, spiritual, religious, cultural, and usually they're about something transcendent. But the question is, how are we going about it? You know, there's questions or tests of integrity when it comes to following our ideals. You don't want your noble ideals compromised by vanity, manipulation, entitlement, the ends justify the means kind of thinking.

So like purity tests or moral tests with respect to visions that we have for life in any area of life, you go through testing. Okay, can you do this the right way? Can you do it from the heart? Can you be human as you do it and don't try to fool anyone that you're not? You know what I'm saying. All right, so Fomalhaut will bring up those kinds of tests for our dreams and hopes and wishes.

Number two will be just the emphasis on the magic of the word, the mouth of the fish receiving the water of Aquarius. So just watch for very powerful or evocative things being said, or shared, or spoken that can be very beautiful and inspiring. And also be careful that you're staying grounded and not being seduced. So just the incantational power of words, and then spiritual exceptionalism was what I put last.

This sign can say things and elevate ideas or standards. It can be very seductive. In other words, with respect to spirituality, it's like do this, say this, believe this, proclaim this, declare this, and you will feel like you are of the exceptional, elevated spiritual people on planet Earth, which is why it can be a culty fixed star. How can we, like, to me? I think, for example, of how exceptionally beautiful and inspiring I find certain spiritual philosophies—Daoism, Buddhism, yoga, astrology—all of these languages that I'm like, wow, just so beautiful and inspiring.

But there's a price to pay if I think that my interest or proximity to them make me better than other people. They don't, and that's the same for anything—political, ideological, religious, doctrinal, anything in our lives that we think this is the right idea, this is the right belief, this is an elevated thought, and so it makes me implicitly better than people who don't have it or share it.

We have to be very careful of that, and that's why this star will often be about places that people are drawn to, or people that we're drawn to that are very inspiring on one level, but the real test is, are they hiding their humanity? Not that it's everyone's business. It's not like we need to be like, okay, before you go to a yoga class you don't need to see a laundry list of your yoga teacher's faults and flaws.

But also, does it look like that yoga teacher is trying to elevate themselves to being more than human, and if you start feeling that way, you know, head in the other direction. Just like it's that simple. So keep these things in mind with Fomalhaut. All right. Well, I hope all of you have a beautiful, blessed eclipse season, and that we're able to learn and grow to have beautiful, inspiring ideals, and to also keep it real.
