Sometimes the soul needs pressure before it chooses a direction. This week, Mars culminates in Cancer, enters Leo, and opposes Pluto— while Venus stations retrograde in Scorpio. It is one of 2026’s most powerful Mars sequences.
In this video, I explore how family fault lines, home, emotional security, power struggles, and courage rise to the surface. We look at the anaretic final degrees of Cancer, the Mars-Pluto opposition, and the Venus retrograde intersection.
Astrology becomes a mirror for the psyche: what must end, what must be defended, and what must transform.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Happy Monday, everyone! Today we're going to start the week off by looking at what Mars is about to do. Mars is about to go through the last final degrees of Cancer, which are a culminating place, an anaretic place for Mars in one of the more difficult signs for Mars. And then, as soon as Mars enters the sign of Leo.
Mars is going to be engaging in an opposition with Pluto. All of this is taking place as Mars is also the host for the upcoming Venus retrograde, Venus in Scorpio. So we have an intersection that's actually taking place between Venus, Pluto, and Mars that is going to be a part of all of this.
This makes for one of the more powerful Mars sequences of 2026. I think it's good to get out ahead of this kind of astrology and be really aware of just how powerful it can be, what you can watch for, what you can expect, what's constructive about it as well. It's not.
Sometimes we get scared about these kinds of transits, but there are some. I think I think some real blessings and benefits to the transit as well. So we'll try to outline all of that today. But before we get into it, as always, remember to like and subscribe.
It helps our channel grow tremendously. When you do that, we are almost to 100,000 subscribers. Help us cross that finish line. We set a goal almost over a year ago to get there by this summer. We're almost at the fall equinox here in the northern hemisphere, and we are almost there.
So, to me, that's that's great, and we owe that to all of you who have subscribed lately. Transcripts of any of these daily talks can be found at the website. That's nightlightastrology.com. Couple of announcements: one is that you go to the shop page of my website.
And you're going to be able to find the audio book version now of my book. It is on Audible. The Oracle Speaks. If you want the Audible version of the book, check it out. It is right there. Paperback version is there too. You can get it on Amazon, Barnes and Noble.
Or from our press if you buy it on our website. Audio book done. Excited about that. Go to the book a reading tab. Click on readings with Adam. You can book a reading with me anytime you want. You just fill out the form and tell me what you want me to look at.
If it's marriage or if it's relationships or career, finances, health. If it's a year ahead reading, if you want a basic overview of your chart, whatever it is, you just tell me when you fill it out. I'll do that for you.
If you can't afford a reading with me, check out Need Based Astrology Readings with our staff. They are awesome. They will meet with you and discuss your birth chart. Go to the courses page, click on first year course. Our next class, Ancient Astrology for the Modern Mystic, begins again on november 14.
We are open for enrollment now. The early bird sale is in effect. There's always need-based tuition for all of our programs. So if you're someone who really wants to study with us, but you're on a fixed budget or you have some financial challenges?
Please take advantage of that. It's there to make sure that nobody's priced out of studying astrology. That's been a mission of ours for a very long time at Nightlight. We take a lot of pride in that. You can also go to the events page, and well.
I should say at the end of today's content, there's also an informational video about that year one program. If you want to come study with us, check that out. Annual retreats taking place next August. We have an informational meeting Sunday, september 27.
The Zoom link is there, and the time to join and learn more about the Oracle Within, which is a training in divination. So if you want to check that, it's a great, great event. Really proud of that. And then every day at Nightlight, there's community meditation.
It's free. Click on community quiet. You can join us for meditation any morning that you feel like it. So, just a few ways that we try to give back there. I'm going to put Nicchepso up on the screen now.
Today, I'm just talking off the cuff because, as you can see, my YouTube studio. Let me just. Do you notice anything different? Hilda's not here. The bed's not here. Everything looks different. That's because we're setting up our house to be shown because we're moving.
Every time I say it that we're moving out to the country, I start thinking of that song about peaches. Do you know what I mean? When I was a kid, moving to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches, and I can't get it out of my head.
So I'm, I'm like, anytime I say it, I just I know I'm set up for at least three hours of like dancing around the house with that stupid song in my head. All right. Anyway, my YouTube studio looks really different.
There are all sorts of people coming in and out of our house this week, so I'm on a little bit of a time crunch. So rather than write out my notes as elaborately as I would, I've got some ideas. I'm gonna just talk off from them this morning.
So if it's a little impromptu sounding, that's why things ought to be back to normal in a couple of weeks for me. Before eventually, you'll see a brand new YouTube studio, and ooh, I'm excited for that. Gonna design a new one.
Okay, well, where are we? Here we go. So, what I want to do is back this up. We're going to come all the way to today, Monday, september 21, and what I want you to notice first of all is that we're getting into the anaretic zone for Mars.
That anaretic zone. Is going to be in the final degrees of Cancer. As soon as we're into that 26th degree range, all the way through the 29th degree, we are in the anaretic territory. We're in the bound of a fallen Saturn.
Saturn's in a superior square. Mars is culminating. That means that things are coming to a head for Mars in its fall in Cancer. I'll walk you through the whole thing, and then we'll discuss. So the final anaretic degree space takes place for Mars around Saturday, september 26 to Monday, september 28.
Right in that range. Now, as soon as Mars enters Leo, let's call it about about Monday, september 28. Notice it is now within three degrees of an opposition to Pluto, and we all know shit loves to hit the fan when when these two planets engage, especially the opposition.
Oof! It is powerful. So we're going to look at this. It approaches, and the opposition is made at the time of a T square between Mercury, Pluto, and Mars, right? And that is happening just one day after Venus also turns retrograde, so if we back this up just a little bit.
We'll see that on Friday, october 2, Venus is stationing, and I'll highlight that right here. And then, as soon as Venus stations the next day. Then we have Mercury squaring Pluto, Mars opposing Pluto, Mercury squaring Mars.
We also have the Sun coming into an opposition with Saturn, so it is easily one of the most powerful transit windows of the year, and I just feel like we ought to talk about this now, because this one is the kind of transit that will really flip the script.
Now it depends on where it's landing on your chart. If you have planets in those early, say, five degrees of the fixed signs, that's gonna that's gonna hit a little bit harder, right? If you have let's say zero to five degrees approximately of a fixed sign, planets in that range are going to get strongly aspected by all of this.
So you have a Sun Saturn opposition, which is a very contractive heavy moment. You have Mars opposite Pluto. Both tend to bring up conflicts of authority or power, and then you have Mercury, Mars, and Pluto in this T square.
And the Mars-Pluto opposition is easily one of the most powerful Mars dynamics that we see each year. The squares, the oppositions, the conjunctions-in particular, you have Venus just turning retrograde. So that station to retrograde moment for Venus is a serious point of transformation.
It's sort of a place of breakdown and revision and change that can come can bring a little chaos with it creatively, can throw throw you off a little bit. So when we see all of this, we go, okay, wow, this is a serious moment of of kind of like karmic reckoning.
Let's call it. All right. Well, we have to break this down little by little, so what I want to do is we're just going to focus on Mars today. We're going to do sort of the Mars piece of this homework, starting with looking at the final space of Mars in Cancer.
Now, Mars in Cancer, as it culminates, is going to bring things to a head with respect to family, so any kind of family karma, karma surrounding your home or your living environment, look like for example what's happening in my life.
Now I have some transits like Saturn touching on my moon right now that are amplifying lunar things. I'm a natal Cancer, Sun and Mercury, right? So depending on how Cancerian things, or lunar things, or home-based things are in your life right now, that's the extent to which this culminating Mars in Cancer will probably show up very loud, very dynamic, and powerful.
When we're thinking about this culmination of Mars and Cancer, a few things that come to my mind. One is existing fault lines in home, family, property, ancestry, family history. Existing fault lines may. Start to tremble and quake, and in some cases erupt.
And what do we mean by that? We mean that you know where there are known obvious tensions, they may grow brighter, stronger, louder, and they may even finally erupt into crisis, conflict, healing, and repair.
Where there are particular things happening around the karma you carry from the way you were raised, or the kind of influence your mom or dad had on you, the role you play as a mom or dad, the interconnected relationships of a family or family-like group that you belong to.
Those tensions will be put under a microscope or a magnifying glass, and that will be-you will have to deal with something as the energy is reaching this crescendo. See, at the very end of the sign, whatever work hasn't been done yet typically will force its way into your your conscious awareness.
And then it'll be like act now or potentially suffer a consequence. That's how anaretic spaces with Mars frequently work. The other thing I would be careful would be you know anything surrounding emotional security, the bonds that you have, attachments that you have.
And just the need to-all of us need healthy bondedness to feel safe and at home in life. How are those bonds being strengthened, or test, or transformed right now? Like I notice in the midst of moving that there's, I feel a lot more vulnerable.
And I think it's just because there's the sense that my home is in this liminal space now. It's not really my home anymore. It's like, yeah, it's a transitional or liminal space, but it makes me feel really ungrounded.
I don't know if you guys can relate to that having moved apartments or you know moved neighborhoods or states or whatever. It's just it's hard to describe. It's like nothing. I have a safe place, but I don't necessarily feel the same sense of at homeness or safety that I was feeling previously.
And I know that next it's like you have to you haven't built the next nest yet, anyway, and I think of all the people in the world, right, who are without a home, or who are having to flee their home, or their city isn't safe, right?
There are so many places in the world where, you know, it's a it's a first world problem, as they say, to be like I'm moving, you know, you know, compared to someone who's never known what it feels like to be safe in their home.
One of the things that I like to do-it's a part of my practice. I talk about this in meditation group, and I learned this from some of my spiritual teachers in the Bhakti Yoga tradition, probably the Christian faith I was brought up in to some extent.
But for me as an adult, I think it really internalized in the Bhakti tradition I was a part of, which is that okay. So let's say you're feeling something really intensely, and it's a it's an emotion that's very overwhelming, and you know it's relative, right?
Like it doesn't help to really compare our our inner life to anyone else. It's not like saying, "Well, because someone else has it 10 times worse than me means I shouldn't feel anything right now.
I'm not saying that, right? But one thing that can really help me is when I sit in meditation. I go in in a in a prayer form. Whatever, if you believe in a higher power or not, it doesn't. To me, prayer can be just like a mantra.
But you, you know, the the prayer is like help my heart connect with all of the people in the world who are suffering from the same thing that I am suffering from right now. Let's say it's feeling vulnerable and feeling like I don't quite have a home.
Help me connect with all those living beings who are dealing with that suffering, and may peace come to all those suffering from this. Right, and then you can go, and please help me to keep in my heart and remember those who have no home, those who whose homes are being attacked; those whose homes are-you know what I'm saying-and you can extend your heart into those that you know are probably experiencing the same thing.
But to a much worse extent. And you can just move from your pain to recognizing that you're in a collective. You're like in a section of the collective ocean of suffering called displacement from home suffering, and it helps me to do that because I can connect with.
I know that I'm not alone, and it's not about comparing better or worse as much as it is trying to take some of what I'm feeling and. Direct it in positivity toward people who may need something even more than I do, you know.
And I love doing that. It's it really helps me. It and as often as I remember to do it, I'm always like, why don't I do it more often? You know, I just look at what I'm suffering from and then pray like a Cancerian, you know, mama or something like a great mother, just kind of wrap wrap my metaphorical arms around the people who are probably out there difficult dealing with the similar difficulties.
That's a great trick anyway that you can use while Mars is culminating right now. If you're feeling vulnerable or just I don't know a little displaced, or there's certain conflicts that are coming up that are just really raw.
So, as Mars is culminating in Cancer, just know that the things that it brings to the surface, the emotional vulnerabilities, they're real. You're not alone in it, and you can you can reach deeply into you can reach into a deeper level of empathy, quite honestly.
Now, as we take, let's put Nicchepso back up on the screen. As we take this a few steps deeper, we are going to that Mars. The last critical degrees we're talking about September 26. I'll be outlining this closer to the date, so don't worry.
We'll come back to this, but it'll be Saturday, September 26th, Sunday, September 27th, right into about Monday, September 28th. That's when things are culminating. Then we switch Leo to Mars goes into Leo, and then we get this very dynamic period.
Now that dynamic period in the T square we're going to treat later. What I want to do today is just progress us into Mars opposite Pluto. The Mars opposition to Pluto will be exact around Saturday, october 3.
We're going to call it Friday, October 2 to Saturday, October 3, thereabouts. Now, as Mars is opposing Pluto, we go into a different space. Fixed fire sign. Mars is out of its fall. It picks up confidence and bluster and and fire almost.
You know, right away, we've got just a very different looking and feeling Mars, and then that those early first couple of days of October, Venus turns retrograde, Mercury's getting in on the T square. This very very explosive dynamic moment.
There there are several things I love about Mars opposite Pluto. One is the courage to act and do something that you feel you must do under pressure. When you're under tremendous pressure, often you have to not ruthless isn't the word.
You have to kind of like you have to assess the situation as clear-headedly as you can and kind of boil everything down to simple yes/no act in this way, don't act in that way, move forward right now in this way.
Things get really basic, and the actions get really decisive. It's like executive judging and thinking and acting, executing all in one strong wave that comes through, and that can clarify things and get things moving. It can, it can, it's very inceptional.
It can be the thing that happens at the start of something, starting something new, or it can be something that addresses or confronts. It can be something that contends with debates. You can lock horns and get into power struggles, but typically those power struggles that come up are you have to sit with them.
You can't just try to win because if you're not careful, what Pluto's trying to do is get your willpower and your ego to engage with a situation that has something for you, that has something to show you, that has something that is meant to transform you by.
And so, when Mars hits Pluto, what we're all going to want to do is sort of take a deep breath as these very intense dynamics are coming up, and as momentum rolls forward really quickly, and you feel like you have to act, you feel like you have to respond.
And we want to be careful that we're not just reacting and trying to win or not be or not lose either way. We have to go like, what's really at stake? What what is trying to speak and come through right now.
How am I being asked to heal or grow or transform or see something differently or hold my ground? You know, or how am I being asked to understand where someone else is coming from but still stand my ground? How can I compassionately or empathetic?
Disagree, diverge, depart, divorce, break up, or how can I how can I start something regardless of what other people may think or feel about what I'm doing? What can I say or do to make it clear this is who I am, this is the direction I'm going in.
So Mars opposite Pluto will also be very explosive and temperamental. So if we have unexplored shadows relative to rage and anger, relative to ego and pride, relative to power and you know clout or popularity, things like that will will be touched upon.
And all of us have shadows, right? So you don't get eliminated from the game of life because you have shadows. Because reality is the dance of light and shadow, after all. But you do get chances to learn how how to include and allow foreshadow to be a part of your experience rather than something that you're constantly fighting and struggling with.
There are a few transits better than powerful Pluto transits for doing so, and we have a Venus retrograde in Scorpio backing right into that Pluto. So this is the dance. This is the dance of light and dark, and this is a a crescendo in a moment where that dance is is asking us to make a choice, to transform, to see something differently, to perhaps stand our ground.
So that's the overall movement. It's kind of the sweeping movement of the culminating Mars and Cancer anaretic, and then the Mars to Pluto. What we want to do in the weeks to come is get a feel for Mercury's role, Venus's role.
Both Venus and Mercury turning retrograde in Scorpio will go through squares to Pluto, Mars will be the host. This Mars-Pluto dynamic will be the host of that Venus freshly turning retrograde. So we haven't even added that layer into it, but it means that certain key relationships are going to go through powerful moments of confrontation.
So a lot to a lot to look forward to. I think it's good to start talking about these things so that we start welcoming them in, as opposed to just sort of bracing for impact and then being like, "Oh my God, what's going to happen?
Because that's when we, that's when we, that's when we start reacting to things rather than consciously interacting with things. So, all right, well, that's it for today. Hopefully, not too rambly. Stick around. I'm gonna tell you about the year one program next.
But tell me what you think about this upcoming transit as it's unfolding. Be sure to leave your stories and comments because I think it helps for all of us to see each other moving through this.
That's also why it's a good idea if you haven't yet to try attending our meditation groups or our Silent Sunday group, we get together, we discuss life, we have group sharing, we just share like what, how's life, you know, and we meditate together, and it's free.
So check that out on the website too. All right, that's what I've got for today. I hope you're all having a beautiful start to this week. See you again next time. Bye.
