Don’t Sleep on What Mercury is About to Do

Today we're going to take a look at Mercury's upcoming entrance into the sign of Libra. This is one of the more powerful transits of Mercury that we've seen in a long time, and that's because of every single aspect that Mercury is going to be making, in addition to an eventual retrograde that's going to happen parallel to Venus's retrograde in the next couple of months.

This is a really powerful Mercury sequence. People love to, I don't know, brush Mercury under the rug a little bit outside of Mercury's retrogrades. Mercury moves so quickly that it's easy to kind of miss some of the more powerful Mercury dynamics. We're going to take a look at every part of what Mercury is going to do over the month of September, and then into the retrograde that's coming in October.

I'm going to give you some things to watch for, and ways that you can sort of prepare yourself for this upcoming transit. So that's our agenda for the day. All right. Well, on that note, let's put up the let's put up Nichepso on the screen, and let's take a look. So here we have the upcoming transit of Mercury entering Libra. So I'm going to move this forward one day to Thursday, September 10th, and this is where you can see Mercury entering Libra. Now, what I want to point out is just how much activity there is for Mercury over the next few weeks.

So if we move this along, I'm going to first of all, I better get out my epic pen. And the first thing you're going to notice is that Mercury goes through as soon as Mercury enters Libra. We have a dynamic that is taking place throughout the entire transit of Mercury through Libra. Mercury is in a Venus ruled sign, and we have Venus in Scorpio.

This means that Mercury, Mercury's like you know presenting sponsor is Venus in Scorpio, which is a pretty intense place for Venus. Venus is going to be bringing up some very deep and let's call it just intense. Emotional work for our relationships, and while Venus is doing that, Mercury is being hosted by that dynamic, which means Mercury is trying to help mitigate and bring balance and a kind of composure and diplomacy to the depth and intensity that Venus is stirring up.

So that's for starters is happening throughout the entire transit of Mercury through Libra, so that sets us up for what's to come. Now, on Saturday this weekend, we instantly have Mercury going through a opposition to Neptune and a simultaneous trine to Pluto. So right away, Mercury is navigating some pretty substantive things here.

As soon as that takes place, then we're moving, and we're going to notice that Mercury immediately trine's Uranus by Sunday, so the weekend takes Mercury through configurations with all of the outer planets. Remember, this Mercury's hosted by that Venus in Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio, in the meantime, is moving into the square with Pluto, so Mercury is navigating and coordinating a lot of very intense and powerful things simultaneously.

As Mercury, as let's see, here we go. As Venus squares Pluto on Tuesday, September 15, Mercury is essentially just coming out of the matrix of all of those considerations. Now Mercury is moving forward, and the next thing that is going to happen for Mercury is that Mercury is going to oppose Saturn. So the opposition of Mercury to Saturn occurs around Thursday, September 17, into Friday, September 18.

Now, at that point in time, Venus is just separating. Highlight this over here. Venus is just within a degree of separating from Pluto, so we can see that the balance that Mercury is trying to bring to the intensity Venus is stirring up, especially through the Venus-Pluto square, is going to reach a really hard inflection moment right as Venus and Pluto are separating.

So you can see exactly how much Mercury in Libra has its hands full with trying to probably create cooperation and harmony for some pretty intractable people and situations, or potentially navigating some things that are just hard conversations, or trying to balance opposing forces or things that are just really tricky. Well, if we go forward from here a little bit more, then we're going to see that once Mercury gets out of the opposition to Saturn, things lighten up a bit, and thankfully we have Mercury now harmonizing with Jupiter.

So the Mercury Jupiter sextile comes around the 21st. We're entering into equinox space around that time, and things are lightening up a little bit compared to the gauntlet that Venus and Mercury ran together through the Pluto square. If we think about Mercury and Jupiter coming together, they're a little bit more hopeful and expansive when they work together, they bring promises of hope, or they lift, you know, kind of like the rising tide that lifts all boats.

There's something about this that just brings everything up, and probably allows us to feel a little bit better about everything that's been happening since the beginning of Mercury's entrance into Libra, so if we take that forward, that's you know about a little less than two weeks of real intensity that Mercury is trying to navigate. Now we have a little lift.

If we go forward a little bit more, we're going to see that the next aspect that occurs, aside from the Sun now entering Libra and going through some similar dynamics, but at least the Venus Pluto square has passed. That's important. The next thing that's going to take place is Mercury is reaching the very end of the sign of Libra.

As it does so, it'll have a little bit of contact with the nodes of the Moon, so kind of a trine and a sextile to the nodes, and then Mercury will enter Scorpio. Now Mercury entering Scorpio is bringing Mercury very close to the retrograde of Venus. In Scorpio, so Venus will station and turn retrograde in the sign of Scorpio around October 2.

At which point, now we have Mercury going to catch Venus, and the two planets kind of trade hand. They switch places. Mercury progresses beyond Venus. Venus backward progressing through Mercury. That's called mutual application. So the two planets kind of get together and then cross sides. Then what takes place is Venus will continue its retrograde, and not very long after that, we're going to see that Mercury will station, and Mercury will turn retrograde.

That retrograde happens on the very day that Venus is Cazimi, as though Mercury is sort of bringing about the full something is changing hands, and something is transferring, almost like power or authority or position is being transferred, and then you can see that Mercury's retrograde will take place, and Mercury's retrograde hits its real inflection point moment, its Cazimi moment between November 3 and fourth, and then we see that Mercury is going to reach right around November 13.

Mercury will station direct, Venus will station direct, and they both station direct back to back. And now Venus is back in Libra, right? And now Mercury is in Scorpio. That's a fascinating transfer. So I think it implies a few things, although I've already intimated some of it. I've got a list of five things to watch for that I really do think these themes are going to be quite pronounced over the next month and a half, especially although we could give it about two months when you take it forward to the end of the retrogrades.

One is going to be a time of many choices. To me, what this says is there's a lot of small little windows of time where it appears like something's coming up with emotional depth and intensity behind it, and there are questions about what you're going to do. How do you navigate difficult choices with a lot of emotion behind it? I don't think it's easy, but there are a lot of consequential decisions being made, and differing needs and values that are coming into the picture.

You have to sit at a number of points during this transit and say, what am I going to do or what are we going to do? And I think that's one way everyone's going to experience this. This is a season where there's a lot of very interesting choices that you're presented with. That doesn't mean that there's only one right or wrong way, and you have to decode it all to get it right.

Number two is a time of balancing needs and desires. So we all have many different needs and desires, and the people we live with, the people around us, or the people we work with, also have needs and desires, and these could come into sharp conflict or focus right now. The difference between my needs and your needs, how are they being balanced or considered in relation to one another, or competing needs or values or desires within ourselves may be kind of coming forth and almost demanding a kind of reshuffling.

The next one is reconciling opposites. So I think this one is similar to the idea that there might be big decisions or competing needs. But what it really says to me here is there are features of the situation that feel like they're just completely different and opposed to one another. It would be like if people had to decide where they wanted to move, and one person wanted to move to the country, and the other person wanted to move to the city.

Those are pretty polar opposite things, and so when conflicting or competing desires come up that just feel like irreconcilable opposites are before us, they can and do have the power to split a relationship apart. On the other hand, they also have the power to perhaps bring creative solutions and a real conversation about well, how do we meet in the middle? Is our relationship with one another, for example, more important than our competing desires?

If so, then how does everyone get what they need here? Reconciling opposites can also be different priorities that all demand attention, but that have very opposite directions that they require you to go in, or ways of prioritizing your time or money, or something like that. The next on my list would be diplomacy or tact in the midst of a lot of passion.

When passionate intensity and emotionality are front and center in a lot of situations, and they will be over the next couple of months, then how does diplomacy and tact come into the picture? How does it aid in a transformational process? Transformation, intensity, depth-they can all be very important considerations for us. Like, you don't want to exclude your passions, your desires, your taste, your sexual nature.

It's not a wise idea to say too many no's to Venus in Scorpio, but some no's may be required. Venus in Scorpio can be about reining in unhealthy levels of desire or lust that live inside of us and that create problems or that are just destructive. Mercury may be trying to kind of, you know, sort of like let cooler heads prevail, let cooler hearts make a decision here, but it's also a balance between rationality and really honoring and acknowledging passion and emotion, acknowledging attachment and desire, not trying to simply repress because it's not pretty or it's messy.

So there will be an interesting dynamic here between Mercury and Venus in two very different signs, and the shadow for sure of this combination would be the diplomatic smoothing over of things that are a little darker or more shadowy. You can dress it up and make it look nice, or you can make a very selfish thing appear very charitable, or socially valid and acceptable.

I think all the time of combinations like this and the show that my wife and I watched ages ago now is called House of Cards. Is Kevin Spacey and I think it was Robin Wright pen or whatever however you say that is that how you say I think it's something like that Robin Wright, whatever pen is that her name? I don't know. You know who I'm talking about, though.

I feel like she has like a hyphenated last name. Anyhow, that show was all about you know everything looked very nice on the surface. Everything was pretty shady. There's a lot of hidden motives, so there can be some of that that can pass under the radar in a moment like this. Finally, we have reason and emotion in conversation.

So what that means is that just very basically, Mercury in Libra is going to be very rational, very calculated, very thoughtful, and careful and considerate and sort of sophisticated intellectually, and Venus in Scorpio is very passionate and intense. And again, just to kind of sum it up, those two planets in these two signs, Mercury has in a way to defer to the passions and desires and drives and instincts and eroticism of Venus in Scorpio, but also Venus as the host of Mercury, and the two planets are averse to one another, may not take so easily to the diplomatic suggestions of Mercury in Libra.

So we have quite a transit on our hands over the next couple of months, and again, I think people are going to sleep on how important Mercury is to all of this, and so that Mercury retrograde in Scorpio becomes quite powerful, especially because Venus will back into Libra, and the two will switch places, and then there's some transfer of perspective or transfer of position within the entire dance that the two planets are doing.

So very interesting. Can't wait to see how this plays out just on an astro level. There's a level at which you know even if dramatic things are going on, because I can see through the astrological lens. I sort of go like, "Wow, that was a cool expression of the planets that I wasn't expecting." It's almost always that way, and at least there's some relief comedically or you know spiritually and philosophically in learning as we go about how planets behave.

I find that to be weirdly comforting. So I'm sure you do too, because otherwise you wouldn't be here listening to me drone on. So anyhow, hope you're having a great day today. Stick around.
