What if the cosmos is whispering encouragement just when you need it most? After the intensity of recent transits, you might be feeling the need for a gentler touch—a sign that you're still on the right path, that connection is possible, and that hope hasn't left the room. In this video, we explore the meeting of Mercury and Venus in Aquarius, a celestial event that speaks directly to that need for soft reassurance and perspective.

This isn't about a sudden, miraculous fix. It’s about the subtle ways the universe helps you pick up the pieces, offering small insights and rekindling conversations that remind you of your place in a wider community. It’s the astrology of recovery, where healing comes not through force, but through a shift in viewpoint, a shared laugh, or the simple realization that you are not alone in your journey.
The most profound healing often arrives not as an emotional catharsis, but as a change of mind. A moment where the cosmic script breaks, and you're gifted a perspective so absurd or so gracious that the hardness you've been carrying just… softens. It’s the universe’s way of taping a note to your soul that reads: Keep going. You're good. The path forward is still open.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we're going to take a look at Mercury conjoining Venus in the sign of Aquarius, and we're going to talk about why this is just the kind of celestial encouragement that we need right now. We have just gone through a Mars Pluto conjunction, very intense, very powerful and dynamic transit, and so how nice is it to get a meeting of Mercury and Venus?
And it's not just their meeting, it's the specific phasal dynamic behind their meaning that we're going to also take a look at and bring some emphasis to today. And yeah, that's our agenda for the day. Before we get into it, remember to like and subscribe, share your comments and reflections. It's always good to hear from all of you.
Transcripts of any of these daily talks can be found on the website, which is Nightlight astrology dot com. I'm going to take you over there to the website, and I want to just remind you of a few things. This weekend, we continue our speaker series. So this is free for the community, sponsored by the Kickstarter campaign. Every year, you can register for these talks, get the recordings if you can't make them live.
These are from some leading experts and astrologers in the field. Fantastic talks to check out. That's under the Speaker Series tab on the events page. Silent Sundays. Hey, we are meeting every day for 40 days right now for quiet time in the mornings, it's 9:30am Eastern time. 8:30am Central time. It's a little early if you're on the west coast, but join for free. Come sit with us in meditation.
We also meet on Sundays at 10:30am Central time, 11:30am Eastern. It's a great way to start your day. It's also free. And then I want to encourage you to check out live talks next month. On February 19, I'm giving a talk on psychedelics and astrology. Why they so often weave together? Why do so many people who have psychedelic experiences end up getting into astrology? We're going to talk about that.
And then, if you go to the book a reading tab you'll see, need based astrology readings. Check those out. I give horary readings. You can check those out as well. Then our courses, our guild membership just started, masterclass series on the decans just started, and our year three classes coming up here in February. So new stuff at Nightlight to check out here at the beginning of the year.
And thank you for giving me a moment to plug what's going on? Here we go. Let's put the real time clock up on the screen. What you will see here is that Mercury and Venus are conjoined in Aquarius. Now, if we back this up, they were joined together yesterday as well, and they were just coming together at the time that Mars and Pluto met, but then as Mars and Pluto met in Aquarius, then they started coming together yesterday, January 28 and then today, they are fully together as Mercury sort of passes over Venus.
Now if we take this forward to Friday, January 30, they will be conjoined within a degree. And if I go forward to Saturday, they're within a degree, and Sunday, we're now getting two degrees, but we don't get that full three degrees of separation until Tuesday of next week. The reason I mentioned that is because as long as they're within three degrees of each other, the fruits, benefits, blessings of their conjunction are really in effect.
And you know what? I'll take it. I'll take some blessings, especially when Mars and Pluto have been together, which can be so I don't know, it's like so frontal and can be feel so invasive. It's very it's a very intense transit. So words that heal, blessings and encouragement when Venus and Mercury get together.
Now there's an interesting piece of their phasal dynamic that I want to cover today. If we go back to today, what I want you to notice is that they are both exactly five degrees out in front of the Sun. This means that they're in a combustion range with the sun. But as they are emerging from that combustion range, it's like someone or something gaining full strength again after a period of exhaustion or fatigue or breakdown, or even broadly speaking, as some karmic process has been broken down.
The cazimi moments for the both of these planets reset their cycles, and now, as they're emerging into Evening Star position, very gradually recovering their union is taking space, taking place from within that recovery space. That's an important detail and nuance that I have woven into today's delineations, because it feels a little bit different when two planets like that are getting together just after Mars Pluto and just after the separation from the sun, all of which point toward recovery relief.
It's like the medic finding us a little mangled on the field and starting to administer some treatment. So he's taping our leg back on I'm just kidding. That's a brutal image. What's wrong with me? Okay, anyway, and thank you guys. So many of you affirm my dementedness Every day. It makes me feel great and keeps me keeps me going.
All right, I've got a list of five things to watch for, and I am excited to unpack them here for you, but let me grab my notes. Okay, so on my list of five things to watch for today stretching over the weekend, and you could even have been noticing some of this yesterday. The first is what I want to call soft encouragement. This is a kind of encouragement that comes softly, not loudly.
The reason for that is that these planets are not yet visible, so there's something a little under the radar about their conjunction. It's a very beneficial conjunction that brings together things like speech, words, communication intelligence, with the ruler of pleasant things, Venus, you know, with the ruler of sensuality and harmony and good fortune. So when these two planets come together in a stage of re emergence from they're not yet visible.
They're recovering. They're re emerging. They're coming on the heels of a Mars Pluto conjunction. They are offering maybe small insights, brief conversations, passing reassurances that nothing bad is going to linger, that there's a solution or a workaround, or if you blew up at your friend, you're already starting to talk it out. The feeling that these planets are not restoring everything at once, but they're they're offering like a little olive branch.
They encourage through things like words, gestures, body language, sweet communications, interesting, collaborative ideas. Another way of thinking about it would also be the feeling that you're you're not wrong, you're not alone, and you're thinking about this in the right way when you those are, those are things that Mercury and Venus can provide you with, especially if someone just, you know, confronted you with real hostility, ideologically or mentally, which is real possible with Mars Pluto and Aquarius.
Like someone said you're not right, you're wrong, you're not virtuous, you're a bad person. You're not in the right group, you're not in the right category, you're the problem. You're either with me or you're against me. All this very like Mars Pluto and Aquarius kind of rhetoric at its worst, right? There's other things we talked about with Mars Pluto that can be much better than that, but that's sort of at its worst.
Mercury Venus can say, No, you're not wrong and you're not alone, and you're thinking about this in the right way, or at least the way, that's real for you, that is authentic to who you are. So soft encouragement can come. Number two is hope returning. Now listen when Mars Pluto hit, it kind of can feel like the rug is being pulled out from underneath you.
Aquarius is a sign that points us to the future and Mars Pluto can feel like some kind of reckoning that has to do with the path we're on. The future we're heading towards clashes about belief and opinion in different collective categories or groups that are trying to harm one another. Then Venus and Mercury get together after that, and says, You know what? There's still a hopeful future here.
There's still something to look forward to. It can bring a recovery of faith or a retaining of a healthy perspective that needs to come back somehow. Sometimes when I do something, I kind of mess up, and I'm real hard on myself, and I'm like, Okay, I got the lesson, you know? Then something will happen. The universe will have a way of encouraging me and being like, you know, what we all learn, you're not that far off.
You're doing a good job. Give me a little perspective that's graceful, you know, pick me up a little bit. We need it, especially after hard encounters. Hard encounters can be truthful. They can be necessary from an evolutionary perspective. You know, sometimes reality makes us do a few push ups. I think it was Stephen Forrest. Someone reminded me of this recently. I don't remember who it was but Stephen Forrest said something like, you know, when there's a hard truth that you have to face, and it's going to help you grow, but it's hard to face it.
The universe made Mars Pluto for just this reason. He said something like that. Anyway, I love that, but in after the aftermath, we need hope to return too. You know, I remember getting my butt absolutely kicked the first couple of nights of drinking Ayahuasca because I was purging opiate addiction. And, man, I felt like I was being dragged, you know, dragged by a wagon through some kind of psychic medieval village long ago, like all of the spirits in the universe were like shame.
Ha. How did you get so lost? Why did you do this to yourself? And I was like, Yeah, I know, I know. I'm an addict, you know? But then a couple nights in, it was like, No, you're a good person. You got lost, but you're never lost. From the standpoint of your heart and soul, you're an eternal, living being. Did you know you're special in the eyes of God? And I was like, oh, you know, like thank you.
And we need that. We need the hard you know. We need the hard lessons, and we need return of hope for perspective that you're likable, you're okay, life is good. And the gods, in a moment like this, I think, are saying it, they don't say it's finished. There. They say something like, you know, keep going. You're good. Everything's okay. The future has not closed its doors.
You are not beyond redemption. The situation is not beyond saving or fixing or mending. There are solutions available. Let the hope come back in. Number three: perspectives heal. See when we get a Mercury Venus conjunction in say, like Cancer, Pisces, even Scorpio, the feeling is that there's emotional healing to be done by processing something. The difference with the kind of healing available through Mercury Venus in an Air sign is typically that the healing comes through a different perspective.
It's not so much an emotional healing, although that can be definitely part of it's not like we're just like without emotions, just because we're talking about an Air sign, but there's mental harmony. Can you have? Here's an idea, here's a communication, here's an exchange that softened you mentally. When my daughter, who is progressively getting better and better at this she's a Leo sun and Leo mercury.
She's real clever and real real likable. I mean, I love her because, but she's like, she she's quite the what do I want to say? Like a little performer anyway, she has a way when I'm like, kind of hardening into a position or being principled about something of like teasing my face into a smile and like chilling me out by sort of she's and she's the only one that can do it to me.
It's pretty crazy anyway, at least in our household, my wife, if she's lucky, couldn't get it like she and she, I think she's, uh, she's actually picking up some pointers from my daughter. No, anyway, but you know, we all need that. We all need the cosmos to just sometimes step in, like the adorable little child that's like, Ah, you're being sort of inflexible and psychotic, you know, like, maybe just soften your tone of voice.
Maybe just soften your existential position, you know. And that kind of laughter, that kind of joy, that kind of harmony in our mind, it can come in a lot of funny ways, little trickster like ways that really just help us understand why something happened and why there's a cosmic absurdity and humor. People are like a lot of what I've noticed over the years that I never would have anticipated is that something people like about my channel, aside from the astrological information, is that I have a bit of a sense of humor.
I don't know how good it is, but it's me. It's definitely not made up. It's just my own sense of humor, and it comes in, and people always tell me that they get a kick out of seeing me crack myself up, and I it's funny, because you know, what does that to me? You guys ever seen the SNL skits where they're the the, the, what is it the cast members? Sorry, I couldn't think of the the phrase the cast members are trying not to laugh, and it's quite clear that they're, like, breaking character and like, completely melting down because they can't hold back the laughter at what's happening.
Or, like, sometimes I'll just sit, and I've done this before, I'll sit for like, 10 minutes and watch out cuts from the office, you know, and you watch them crack up at Michael Scott. I love that kind of thing myself, but this is what we all need. It's not, it's, you know, apart from, I'm glad you all like that or whatever, but like, I need that too.
I need watching people lose the fucking plot. Like, just people lose their serious center of gravity for a second and just traipse off into absurdity for just a few minutes. You can get right back to the plot. You know, we're going to get right back to we'll cut the scene. The scene will be cut. It'll be used, and we will not have fallen apart.
You know, the actors will have retained a straight face at some point. But occasionally, it's really nice to have something in the universe break our script and make us laugh at ourselves, or give us a perspective that's healing and funny and harmonizing, and it's just, isn't it so nice when that happens? I don't know. I love when that happens, and I think I've developed a relationship with that spirit, that sort of, it's a bit like a jester, isn't it?
Mercury Venus, in the ancient world, was associated with things like bards and jesters and singer songwriters and comedians and stage, stage craft and all of that stuff. So I don't know, let the stagecraft of life shift your perspective or tickle you. But number four on my list is re emerging voices. Re emerging connections, conversations can restart if they've been tabled. The reason for this is that they're emerging from combustion.
So if you and a friend or a loved one or you know something that you might start re engaging in and finding that there's unity, there's connectivity again, there's a sense of momentum and joining together with other people, or with something that was maybe dropped off but is being picked back up. The reason that I say that is because, as both planets are moving away from the sun's overpowering light, they begin to speak for themselves again.
Venus brings diplomacy and starts connecting things that maybe weren't as easy to stay connected under the fire of combustion. Mercury brings speech and articulation, and I think in the sign of Aquarius in particular, this connection favors like mutual respect, shared ideals, not emotional manipulation or pressure. It's like there's such a collegiate I don't even know if that's the right word, there's a feeling of return fraternity.
That's not the right word either. Jesus, what am I? I'm thinking of colleges. I'm trying to it's like a feeling of camaraderie. Yes, that's what I was looking for. Camaraderie. Yeah, when these two planets get together, there's a sense of being heard and wanting to hear someone else, and the joy that comes from things that are being shared and that that sharing can carry a kind of momentum.
Right now, it's really nice. This is why I said today the title is encouragement from the gods. When we find ourselves vibrating with other people, we have the feeling that it's like rain on earth that helps plants grow, connections with other living human beings that are positive, fun, uplifting, light hearted, that we share in something we need those things. We really deeply need them. Nice transit for that.
Number five, finally, what we share that is about our humanity. This is community in Aquarius. This is allies. You share concerns and trajectories with other people. We need meaning through and among equals, not just hierarchies. Meaning is found in hierarchies, in terms of how we develop, how we evolve, how we hone our skills, our crafts, where we show them the power and influence we have in a field for its positive growth.
All of these things, though, tend to exist within hierarchies, and I don't. I'm not someone who believes that hierarchy is evil. I think that it can be evil, but it's also natural. It's also part of life. It's just a natural archetypal reality. The main antidote to hierarchy, in my own personal perspective, is not having too much of it, not having too many things that are always about hierarchies.
Well, Aquarius, in a way, can be, of course, there's hierarchical dimensions to the sign of Aquarius. It's not that any sign can have a way of taking place in and among hierarchies. But Aquarius is unique in that it's a very egalitarian sign that is interested in things that are very, very much rooted in, like peer level exchanges and collaboration, I think very much in the sign of Aquarius about Jam Band culture and jazz culture, where improvisation and there's no pecking order.
Everyone is an integral part of making something together creatively. You're part of something bigger, right? And there's no hierarchy among the members of this kind of group that's a very Venus Mercury in Aquarius, kind of reality that maybe plays a role right now. Anyway, there's others that are walking a path with us right now. You don't have to carry things alone.
Now, it doesn't. This is not a conjunction that promises instant resolution for the recent Mars Pluto conjunction, but I think it gives us some reason to trust that things will evolve in the way that they do for the reasons that they do, and we can trust that process because we have these little reassurance moments. It's just like this. The lights are turning, your thoughts are finding their way.
You haven't lost all of your values. Meaningful conversations are still taking place. A path forward always remains open. We need those little reminders, so I hope that this talk has been fun and encouraging, like the transit and I hope you're having a very blessed and beautiful day. We'll see you again tomorrow. Bye, everyone.
