What turns when the slowest planet begins to move backward through the sky of your life? Not a sudden event, but a gradual, substantive shift in the plot of your becoming. Pluto's retrograde in Aquarius asks you to look at what has been building for months—perhaps years—and recognize that a phase is completing. Not ending. Completing. What follows is revision, integration, a turning inward to refine what your soul actually needs, not what you were conditioned to pursue.

These turnings are not about something new beginning. They are about something already underway reaching its point of completion in one form, only to be revised, reworked, or integrated in another.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today, we're going to take a look at Pluto turning retrograde in the sign of Aquarius. I'm going to tell you some general things that we can keep in mind when a slow moving outer planet turns retrograde. Then we're going to do some horoscopes for all 12 whole signs. You can listen for your sun or rising sign today and get a feel for what kind of retrograde you may be in store for with Pluto's change of direction. That's our agenda for today.
Before we get into it, as always, please remember to like and subscribe if you like this channel. If you like the even keeled way that we try to approach our content, then it really helps us if you give us a little thumbs up. Help the algorithm find us. Share your comments and reflections. Subscribe if you're not yet. Transcripts of any of these daily talks can be found on the website that is Nightlight Astrology.com.
I have just a couple of promotions for the day. First is on the events page, community quiet. Every day at Nightlight, there is community meditation seven days a week. You can find the link, the schedule, a little video telling you about what we do, why we do it. There's no doctrines or dogmas, just sitting quietly. So hopefully you'll be able to join us. It's a great way to join your spiritual practice to your study of astrology.
Under the Events page, you are also going to find monthly webinars. My webinar for the month of May is coming up on May 14. It's called Karma and Common Sense: Remedies for Difficult Chart Placements. We are going to talk about some of the most basic ways that ancient astrologers, especially in the Vedic tradition, which were the progenitors of the study of karma, what they said about the most basic ways that you can change difficult chart placements.
So if you want to come to that talk, you can register and get the link. If you can't attend live, you get the recording. So hopefully that will be a fun talk for everybody. Last thing is under the Courses page, click on First Year Course, Ancient Astrology for the Modern Mystic. Our first year course in ancient Hellenistic astrology begins again on June 28. Early bird registration and sale is open. Need based tuition is open.
So if you need a little help to make it happen, at the end of today's content, there is an informational talk on the first year program, what it includes, how it works. Everything works by live webinar, but we also have everything recorded, so you can follow along at your own pace or attend the actual live classes. But we do things live. Nothing is pre recorded. It's live classroom, live demonstrations, live clients, live Q&A, live discussion. Tons of support outside of class. So stick around at the end of today's talk to hear more about it.
On that note, let us bring up Nechep. So here, this is the new software program I've been using. I'm an affiliate. If you want to check out this new software program, go to the live stream link. You can see a few different interviews I did with the creators and kind of what they're up to, and the thought that is really behind everything at Nechep, and why it's cutting edge. In my mind, an organization and a project really worth supporting. Also the affiliate link in the comment section or in the description of the video.
If you want to get 20% off an annual or monthly subscription that never expires, you get that every month or every year. So check that out. Glad to be supporting Nechep. You can see here on the screen that we are dealing with Pluto's retrograde. I'm going to back this up by just a day so that we're mirroring our day. You can see here, Wednesday, May 6, on the screen, Pluto has a little S under it. That means station.
If I go forward one more day, then the retrograde occurs, which means it's actually starting to move backward. Under stations and retrogrades, there are often very significant turning points, moments of culmination and the completion of one phase of a transformational process, and the beginning of its implementation, its revision, its integration. Other times during stations and retrogrades of long, slow moving outer planets, you get the gradual but very substantive turning of a plot line or change of circumstance relative to the house topics that the planet is stationing in retrograde in.
So we're going to look at that today through horoscopes. But broadly speaking, as we're looking at all these horoscopes today, keep in mind retrogrades, especially slow outer planetary retrogrades, mean that a process that is a long term process has reached a pivotal turning point. That's pretty generic, right? But when you get down to it, once you understand the topics of the house, you understand this turning point represents the completing of a phase and then its revision or integration or reworking.
You could also think of it as reaching a kind of culmination and a critical turning point. Circumstances are about to change. Sometimes that means reversals of circumstance, or going back to something, or that could mean that something is temporarily delayed or set back as a part of again, usually a longer process. All of that in mind, you may be noticing any of these things, not just today, but over the course of the last week or maybe the next week or two, that you're in the process of a big, slow Pluto turning around, shifting directions, changing momentum.
On that note, what I want to do today is I'd like to bring up, let's see here. I've got to get my notes up. Let me get them up. All right, we're good to go. So let me put Nechep back up on the screen. Now you can listen to this for your sun sign, your rising sign, your moon sign, whatever you want. I recommend your rising always, because it will correspond with the Hellenistic and traditional Indian view of your chart, whole sign houses.
That whole sign house perspective is going to correlate directly for your rising sign to the actual whole sign transit of your birth chart. Because that's our primary lens in Hellenistic, that's what I recommend. But you can listen for your sun sign, your rising sign, whatever you prefer. All right. Horoscopes are made the same way regardless. So anytime you listen to our horoscope, you can listen to the Aries horoscope that's being done for any placement in your chart if you want to.
Horoscopes are pretty magical in that way, but they're all crafted in the same whole sign perspective. So whole sign birth chart makes sense for the rising sign. Anyway, let's start with Aries. If you are an Aries sun or rising, we have Pluto turning retrograde in your 11th house. You might notice that there are reversals or reevaluations of some of your long term goals and dreams. What once felt like success, or what once defined your happiness in a social or civic societal realm, may be called into question, or may be in a process of changing directions.
That may also mean that there are shifts in things like friendships or communities. Because this is a house that also points to things like alliances or allies, some alliances may deepen while others may be reaching a point of fracturing or changing. Somehow, you may also be able to see certain kinds of things that have been hidden or out of sight within different social or even social professional settings. Pluto turning retrograde in general in the 11th house might mean that a change of your role within a group or community is occurring, where there might be some level of power or influence or participation or collaboration that's being redefined or renegotiated.
Then I think, broadly speaking, the whole process of Pluto in the 11th for Aries is about what actually fulfills you versus maybe what you've been conditioned to pursue socially in the name of success or happiness. These are the kinds of turning points I am expecting to see for Aries folks out there. Let's go forward to Taurus. Now with Taurus rising, we're looking at your 10th house, the career house. It is possible that something about your career direction or your public role is undergoing some kind of revision.
That might mean that you're having second thoughts about what you're doing or how you're doing it. Anything pertaining to your ambitions socially or professionally, or leadership roles that you carry socially or professionally, could be in the spotlight. There may also be some kind of significant turning point with respect to your reputation or your visibility. Something that has been in the works or somewhat hidden or behind the scenes may be ready to emerge as the turning point of Pluto occurs.
But it also could be that the process of something that you've been working on or developing needs to undergo a process of revision right now before it comes forth later. Power dynamics with authority figures or institutions may shift in deep ways around this turning point, prompting some kind of social, professional, public recalibration. I would ask questions for Tauruses about purpose and status. What are you building? Why are you building it? And what are you building relative to how you want to be seen?
Can you explore some of the maybe more unconscious motivations behind things? I'll say, as a Taurus rising, I find it interesting that this station is happening as my book is, I think it'll probably be next week that you hear me promoting that it's available. So we'll see. But it's very close anyway. Just an example of how that can work for a fellow Taurus, a member of the Taurus rising society. Let's go on to Gemini.
This places the Pluto retrograde turning point into your ninth house, a dharma house, connected to things like belief, philosophy, spiritual paths in life, faith paths. They may be undergoing some kind of process of questioning or reversal, a breakdown of paradigm, a questioning of teachers or religious or philosophical authorities, a change in direction with respect to something like something you're studying or learning. It might be that a teacher or a teaching or some kind of doctrine or dogma may lose authority or require some kind of revision or reconsideration.
It's also very possible that Pluto will have you turning inward to refine or deepen some kind of process of learning or truth seeking. I would say that in general, this is less about external validation that something is real or true, and probably with the retrograde, more about internal alignment. I believe this, but am I actually living it, something like that. A reorientation of life direction based on some kind of deeper spiritual insight that you're having could be a part of this, or maybe there are deep ethical concerns that are coming up right now for one reason or another.
That's the Gemini rising take with Pluto in the ninth. If we move this on to Cancer, we put Pluto in the eighth house, a moksha house that has to do with karmic entanglements with other living beings and attachments. It is natural that we be entangled and attached. We are relational beings. However, those entanglements and attachments are either facilitating moksha through the inevitable loss and impermanence, and the way that we're forced to let go of things, especially things that we clutch to out of delusion and ignorance.
A lot of those dynamics, the karmic dynamics that entangle us in a negative way, will be found here, as will their liberation. But also the attachments and bonds we form that are meant to facilitate awakening through positive enmeshment. There are positive bonds here in life. It's not just negative entanglement. Attachment is not just purely bad. It's good when you're attached to the right people and the right things that are facilitating growth. The eighth house Pluto says it's time to revise these entanglements, emotionally, financially.
What are the karmic bonds that bind us versus drain us? Those are the kinds of questions we should be asking right now. If you're a Cancer rising, there might be a process of disentangling from attachments that obscure clarity or that obscure liberation. There might be hidden forms of dependency or power dynamics that are surfacing for release or transformation. The Pluto moment here for Cancers might be about recognizing what you need to be attached to and maybe what you don't need to be attached to, and just really understanding how those things are operating in your life.
Reconsidering what you share, who you merge with, who you surrender to, and why, and why you should or shouldn't. Death as a metaphor here is powerful. The releasing of attachments is a natural part of how we learn and grow and evolve, and that may be a strong part of what Cancers are going through on some level right now. All right, for Leos, we go to Pluto in the seventh house, a place of relationships. The Pluto retrograde here could be pointing toward a turning point in some of your key interpersonal relationships.
What are the roles that people play in your relationships? How is power shared or distributed? How are commitments negotiated, and what needs to change within those dynamics? The Pluto retrograde offers a pivotal turning point to question these things and look at them under a microscope. There might be some reversals in partnership dynamics, meaning who yields, who leads, who has what responsibility and why. Are you letting someone mirror to you authentically, or are you refusing to look in the mirror that another person holds up and vice versa?
There could be old relationship patterns or people that resurface for deeper closure, or maybe a deeper connection and a redefinition of what meaningful partnership requires at a soul level. This kind of relationship is what I need for soul growth, for soul purpose; this one is not. These are some of the core things that Leos are going to be looking at as Pluto turns retrograde in this house. Let's go to Virgo. Virgo rising, we get Pluto retrograding in the sixth house.
This is the workaday world house, this place of effort, work, toil, sacrifice, because the material world is a constant churn and negotiation of survival and of effort and work and toil, and to a certain extent, sacrifice. Pluto here is asking Virgos to reassess what is worth the work, the effort, the sacrifice, what is sustainable that upkeeps life in the constant work and effort and makes it more manageable, versus what actually drains you. What habits of upkeep or maintenance are you not doing properly, and then you end up getting drained because of that?
This could be about health or workload issues that prompt some kind of change in your habits or your daily responsibilities. If you're in a workplace dynamic or people work for you, power dynamics in the workplace and among employees or workers, control, things like servitude and service, and also questions about autonomy within working space dynamics could come up specifically, typically with people you employ or hire for something. But also in a deeper sense, just the workaday world and changes that need to happen therein.
A deeper understanding of effort and service and sacrifice as sacred parts of life that have to be well defined for them to work properly, versus burdensome obligations that feel like they're killing your spirit. These are really important dynamics for Virgos. All right, let's go on to Libras. For Libras, we put Pluto in the fifth house, a dharma house, a creativity house. We're talking here about your creative direction in life, your passions, the romantic energy of your spirit and soul, and how it expresses itself in order to feel fulfilled, enjoyed, joyful, and creatively engaged in life.
This can mean that creative direction goes through some kind of revision or redirecting, but also romantic and sexual dynamics that bring up questions about deeper desires and maybe power struggles, questions around joy, meaning what feels authentic versus performative. On that level, what came to my mind when I was thinking about this and writing my notes out was like, there's a sense with Librans often that it's okay as long as it's socially approved of. But Pluto in the fifth might be saying, is that just social calculus?
There needs to be some deeper release of spontaneous creative energy here, a turning point in how you relate potentially to things like pleasure and self expression. Are you willing to take risks or look at certain taboo subjects in relation to things like pleasure or creativity? Anything involving pregnancy as a byproduct of the similar topics of creativity could be a part of this. Now with Scorpios, we move into the fourth house, roots, foundations, home, family. This is a point at which you might be revisiting certain old family patterns, old ancestral material.
Looking at the emotional foundation of your life and questions about where you belong or fit in socially and ancestrally. How were you raised? How did it shift where you feel at home in the world? Any kind of reversal in living situation or family dynamics or things happening in the home affecting your sense of security or groundedness. Hidden dynamics in the home or psyche that are surfacing for integration. Any kind of deeper reckoning with home, past family, parents, and what home truly means for you at a soul level could be coming up for Scorpios right now.
It might also be connected to the fact that Aquarius in the fourth house has to do with whether you feel loved, seen and accepted by your family for who you are or not, because Aquarius will often bring up that almost black sheep dynamic in the fourth house. All right, let's move on to Sagittarius, which places Pluto in the third. This is a psychological house, a house of mind and the environment of the mind, body, emotional matrix of the body, peer relationships. It's kind of everyday psychological life.
This could mean that there are significant shifts happening in thinking patterns, old narratives, old mental habits being reworked or revised somehow. But also changes in relationships with siblings or peers, or anything that constitutes everyday interactions. Changes in that space sometimes happen because of things that are happening technologically, or you're going to a different place to work every day, or your outfit is changing, your style is changing, and your style of mind and self expression are changing.
The thing that's hard to quantify about the third house is that it really has to do with the joy that we experience, the happiness and fulfillment that we experience from our basic ego structure, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and how it interacts with and receives feedback from the everyday environment. So you're looking at things like psychological makeup and happiness and mind and thought patterns and interactions, and what kind of feedback they're providing you with, and what kind of change they're necessitating.
Let's go on to Capricorn. For Capricorn rising, Pluto goes into the second house. Now we're moving into a financial sphere. Financial or material situations can undergo pretty dramatic reassessment or reversal. Questions about what is supporting me materially versus what kind of expenditures or drains on energy or resources exist, and how can I change that? Shifts in how we manage, hold, or depend on various resources. Maybe a deeper restructuring of things in a business or income or finance models that you hold in your life.
Any kind of restructuring of your relationship to material stability and material sustenance, which could even involve things like food or diet or self care. But it is about feeling supported on the material plane and the resources, assets, patterns, behaviors that go into that feeling of being resourced. So for Capricorns, a lot of emphasis on the Pluto retrograde there, a turning point with respect to these topics. All right, for Aquarius rising, Pluto in the first house, a place of identity.
This is a moment of, you could call it, existential transformation. Who you are becoming is a work in process right now. There are external changes that may be happening around you that are forcing internal changes, or vice versa. Gosh, I'm really changing internally, and it's causing me to have to negotiate some kind of change in some other part of my life, home, family, work, marriage, friends, etc. Sometimes the change of identity has to do with health and vitality and your physical body.
Power over your life direction is being redefined, or let's say reclaimed, if you lost control somehow, to whatever extent we have control, right? A shedding of old identity to align more deeply with essential nature is what Pluto in the first house is about, and certainly a powerful retrograde. So think about that first house, sense of identity, health, body, psychological orientation in life, and how you're evolving personally. Now for Pisces, this is in the 12th house, a moksha house. It's pretty otherworldly.
Here, a process of letting go of attachments, control, or ego based patterns where we think we can't see beyond the existence of our little temporary lifetime self. The 12th house is always facilitating an awareness that this body, this life, is temporary. I'm going to have to let it go. And it does that by creating experiences that remind us of that, that I'm not in control. To the extent that I pretend that I am or try to be in control, there will be undermining forces that take me out of control.
Enemies sometimes, or enemies within myself, because the attempt to identify with something temporary is ultimately undermining. That's the point of the 12th house in general. Now that doesn't mean ego is bad, but it means that ego has to be on the solid ground of understanding its own impermanence, which is a kind of paradox. Anyway, hidden fears, losses, unconscious material rising to the surface right now. Any encounter with what undermines you, whether those are habits, personal dynamics, relational dynamics, different kinds of unseen forces that could be part of just an environment that you inhabit.
A deeper surrender to some kind of spiritual process. It's not a bad time, if you're a Pisces, to take time out for solitude, for example. All right, well, we've made it through some Pluto retrograde horoscopes. I hope that these are beneficial for you. I hope that they bless your life in some small way. Remember that you take what you hear and you try to apply the themes to the life that you're living, because they will fit slightly differently for each biography, right?
So we have to be a little flexible in how we hear them and not too literal. Anyway, that's it for today. Stick around next. I'm going to tell you about the year one program. It is an absolutely fantastic learning journey in astrology that will give you a lifelong tool and practice, taking it to a whole other level. Many people practice and end up practicing part time or serving other people in their life as a reader. But you don't necessarily have to have that intention.
Stick around. I'm going to tell you about it next. Hope you're having a great day. We'll see you again tomorrow. Bye.
