Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Happy Friday, everybody. Today we're going to take a look at the full moon that's forming this weekend in the sign of Sagittarius. It's hosted by the exalted Jupiter in Cancer. We also have an upcoming meeting of the benefics, Venus and Jupiter in Cancer, and I think the Cancer archetype is going to play a pretty strong role in this weekend's full moon, so that's what we're going to talk about today.
Before we get into it, as always, remember to like and subscribe. We found out that a lot of people who watch this channel, the majority actually who watch it daily, are not yet subscribed. It's free to do so. It takes a second, and it really helps us. So, if you love this channel, you like it, it gives something positive to you. Consider giving something back to us and helping us grow and sustain what we do, we appreciate it.
You can find transcripts of any of these daily talks on my website, that's Nightlight astrology.com. We're going to head over there for a few brief promotions before we get into it. First of all, go to the shop page, click on my books. My new book is out, The Oracle Speaks. It is a book that is all about the stories that lead us to astrology.
For many of us, prior to coming to the language of astrology, there is something that is guiding our life, and when we come to astrology, we all sort of recognize that there's a language now that we have that can put words to something that's very mysterious and a force of destiny that's been at work in our life, and so this is really a story about how astrology weaves its way into our life before we even know what it is.
I would love it if you read the book, if you would share a picture of you with it somewhere on Instagram, tag us in a story at Nightlight Astrology, and also in the comment section of all the chapters and all the stories in the book. There's many different stories. I'd love to hear which one you really liked, like what was the story that really stood out to you, and all the chapters that's fascinating to me.
It's kind of like sending a kid out into the world to go to college or something. You're like, I, I'm, I want to call you and hear how you're doing, like I'm curious to know, you know, which chapters and stories people find interesting, or what you loved about it. Anyway, so check that out. Really glad to have it out there in the world. You can also find my first book at the bottom.
We've really released a second edition of it that's there as well. Go to the courses page, our first year course, our second year course, our horary course. Of course, you guys know I'm an affiliate and get a discount on your subscription to Necep, so when you subscribe annually or monthly, that discount never goes away, helps the school helps the Chepso kind of a grassroots level astrology program that's really trying to lead the conversation about new technology and astrology software. So, anyway, here's the Chepso on the screen.
I've got it up for today, Friday, May 29 and what I really want to emphasize today is the applying full moon, that's coming in over the weekend, so we're going to advance this by a day that gets us to Saturday, May 30. Let's go ahead by some hours, and we're going to see that it comes in pretty late in and into Sunday morning, so on my time in, you know, Central Time USA, we're talking about, you know, three to four in the morning, that the full moon is happening Saturday night into Sunday morning.
That full moon will be in effect, technically speaking, you can kind of fill out the orb all the way through the sign of Sagittarius, so it's really carrying us into Monday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. We're in the full moon window, you could say, and this is a full moon. Let's, let's point this out here. This is a full moon that is hosted by Exalted Jupiter in Cancer.
It's a full moon that's hosted by Jupiter in Cancer, as the benefics are also coming together in the sign of Cancer, we're going to be looking at that a lot more next week, as the benefics are ready to join, but for now, a full moon hosted by an exalted Jupiter, and also with the benefics co-present. That's interesting, of course. The Sagittarian moon cannot see the sign of Cancer because they are averse to one another, so that is also interesting.
All of this is going to play into my five things to watch for today. I want to talk about what you may notice over the weekend, and hopefully prepare all of us the best way we can. The purpose of preparing ourselves is not to try to manipulate outcomes, but to be more conscious. When we're more conscious, we have.
Have you ever noticed if you put your phone down when you're with your kids, or you're with a friend, or you're with a lover, and they put theirs down and you're present, that the quality of the experience is enhanced? You know, it's so simple. It's like, put your phone down, and you get to enjoy the quality of the other person's consciousness, and they yours, and the mirroring provides insight and meaning, and it's as simple as being present when we review things like this in a full moon, it's not like buckle up, you're screwed, or you know, like get ready, the jackpot's coming, that's not the kind of astrology we want to engage with, at least not on this channel.
What we want to do is prepare ourselves for the archetypes that are present, the patterns that are present, because doing so is effectively like taking your phone and setting it down. Right when I record, I have to turn my phone off, because then I'm present for the camera and I'm present for my list, and I'm, you know, my notes, and my presentation. Being present astrologically is what this is all about.
If we're aware of these energies or archetypes as they come through, we are more present, and being more present usually means that we get the insights and gifts and treasure that each transit provides. We are living in a divine reality, and what we don't understand is that what seems like mundane experience is actually packed with meaning and guidance and insight for the soul, for the soul who is traveling through many lifetimes, learning and growing every opportunity we have to be present and aware and conscious of our experience around us guides the soul along, and the times that we are unconscious, then events have a way of conspiring to make us conscious again, but we don't want that, that's exactly what it means to be grabbed.
Ancient name for the planets was Grahas, which means to grab in India, but it also means to grasp, as in to understand, and so if we understand what we're living through, and we can see it for what it is, the patterning, then we're present, then the wisdom comes. It's like a flow of divine water, it just nourishes us. So the idea behind this list is not to when I say five things to watch for, I don't mean the five things to panic about, five things to get attached to, five things to get overly eager about. I literally mean five things to stay present to.
All right. Well, that little sermon aside, let's talk about what we might notice. First of all, we have the access of Gemini and Sagittarius, and you could say it's like the two hemispheres of the brain. We have a logical, rational, you know, kind of deconstructive, analytical side, and we have a more intuitive, faith-based side, a sense of something more holistic, and the Jupiter and Mercury access of Sagittarius and Gemini will often put us in touch with those two ways of knowing and learning and understanding, and it can present us with the temptation that we have to pick a side, we don't as much as we have to learn how to hold the tension of opposites, almost always, sometimes you have to pick a side, but many times it boils down to how can I be a thoughtful, careful, considerate sort of Socratic Gemini person who questions everything, while also having a kind of faith-based gnosis that allows me to go into intuitive flow, trust, surrender to something bigger.
The two operating together, being able to flow in and out of one another is probably more the point of this kind of full moon than the pressure to pick a side. Are you going to be rational? Are you going to be, you know, a person of great faith, or let some sense of moral or spiritual conviction guide your path? Are you going to be someone who you know sort of throws their hands up and goes, "Well, I just don't know. Maybe I'm more agnostic about things, but the idea that you have to pick a side, be careful of that.
Now, at the same time, you may be presented with situations where you do have to pick a side, in which case the full moon in Gemini is going to pull the full moon, excuse me, in Sagittarius is going to pull you toward wisdom and gnosis and understanding and faith, and probably a bit more on the side of conviction and belief. So keep that in mind. We might have to look at things like fanaticism, fanaticism of our beliefs, or the fanatical shadows of our beliefs or the people around us as something that we're looking at or working through.
The other thing is that these two planets in particular can present as ideological tension that says you have to have a side, you have to be on a side. I think it's one of the most aggressive and violent intellectual things that we can do to one another to say you're not worth a damn unless you pick one side over another. It is completely okay, and I'll just say this for anyone who needs to hear it. It is completely okay to say, "Homey, don't play that. No, I'm not going to pick a side because I don't feel naturally compelled to pick a side now that you know there will always be people in any walk of life, moral, religious, spiritual, political, whatever, who will say if you don't pick a side, you're complicit with the bad side.
They'll always say that, always, because they have a vested interest in trying to make you pick a side, because they're identified with the side. It's not bad to be identified with a side. It's natural to be identified with a side, but it is also natural to not be identified with a side. And there's the great tension between Sagittarius and Gemini. It would be, it would be very un-gemini-like for someone to say you shouldn't pick a side, you shouldn't pick a side at all, and you're a part of the problem if you do pick a side, because that doesn't really go with the natural open-mindedness of Gemini.
It's more Sagittarians, and it's - and I don't mean Sagittarians as people - it's more Sagittarius, I should say, as a sign or an archetype that demands that belief pick a side. You have to have a belief, you have to know you have to stand, you have to have conviction, and it has to be for one side versus the other. That tends to be more Sagittarian, like you don't see there are some people who are dogmatically open-minded, who are like, unless you remain completely open-minded and you don't pick a side, then you're a fool. I guess that does exist, but you can feel this tension right between a kind of open-minded, non-committal and a kind of fiery, passionate convictedness. Well, they're archetypal, both of them.
Number two, the power of our emotional convictions that guide and shape our beliefs. The reason for this is that we've got a full moon in Sagittarius, naturally oriented toward fiery convictions and beliefs fueled by a very exalted emotional Jupiter in Cancer that might have a lot of emotional investment in the belief for one reason or another, so exploring those things, deconstructing them where the emotion is perhaps over, you could say that the beliefs are being overly charged up or amplified or intensified by some level of emotional attachment or investment, and so turning that down with a little bit of careful rational distance might be a good thing.
On the other hand, it's also quite natural to have powerful emotions and feelings behind our beliefs and convictions, and you may see that right now those things are serving you somehow. So watch for that tension anyhow. Number three on my list is that there's the potential for a full moon here that provides a full moon in Jupiter ruled sign provides wisdom. What kind of wisdom.
Well, it provides the wisdom of Jupiter and Cancer, of history, of the past, of tribe, of roots, of family, of village life, the karmic ecosystems that we inhabit and call home, family constellations of karma, all of these spaces, these Cancerian spaces, again, family, home, women, children, history, the past roots that the guidance or wisdom coming through this full moon in a Jupiter ruled sign is from the Jupiter in Cancer.
So you may just naturally be experiencing that you're learning, you're at an inflection point in terms of what the path of being a part of this particular family that you've been born into is leading you to understand, or is teaching you, or so the guidance, in other words, the wisdom comes from the Jupiter and Cancer space. So watch for that, keep that in mind, because you may naturally be at a place where you have to reflect, or you know, oftentimes when wisdom comes, when a real insight or understanding comes in a Sagittarian manner, there is a sense of needing to act or conform our actions or life path in some way to the orienting compass of our beliefs and what we're learning and what guidance is coming through, so orienting your life through the guidance coming through home and family and past, right now could be a very strong theme.
Number four, faith, redemption, and hope. Sagittarius, naturally, regardless of the ruler, is a sign that has a lot to do with turning us toward the return of light from going deep down into the darkness. The first 15 degrees of Sag continues that descent. The second 15 degrees of Sag. You can literally see it in the sky. If you use an astronomy software program, you can see it too. It looks like the sun is turning around a corner in the sky and kind of tilting to rise back up.
This is why Sagittarius is called a double-bodied sign. The double-bodiedness points to, among other things, it points to the tipping or turning of the direction of the solar year, and although Capricorn sort of begins the ascent, technically speaking, the pivot starts happening in Sagittarius, which is why we also sometimes call them mutable signs, because it's a changing of the season, so Sagittarius moves us from dark toward light, and one way that that predictably comes about in our lives is through stories of faith, redemption, hope, optimism, buoyancy, kind of an upward turn from a darker space, or the idea that, you know, even the idea that karmic justice is being administered, Zeus, Jupiter tends to rule over processes of karma in the sense of justice, the courts, legalities, things like that, that the law of karma is restoring something, so restoration and redemption share similar roots in terms of their meaning and their fittingness with the sign of Sagittarius, so redemption, restoration of karma, as karmic justice is being administered, maybe through home or family, for example, but that pivot, or that turn, is happening over the weekend with the full moon in Sag, and that might be bringing the light back somehow, so keep that in mind.
Number five, we seek wisdom, we expand horizons. When the moon is in Sagittarius, it's as though you're standing out in front of a great open expanse, horizon line is out in front of you, and there's a sense that there's more openness, more possibility, that there's a new frontier or horizon that you can move into. It could be intellectual, it could be emotional, or sexual, relational, professional, financial, but the idea that things are opening and expanding in terms of their possibilities and in terms of new horizons that are yet to be explored or experienced.
This is the sense that Jupiter provides us, that our understanding when we grow in wisdom. The idea is that our vision and our understanding expands. We can hold more, we can see more of the whole and integrate more of the whole. And so, what a great weekend transit for the expansion of wisdom, the expansion of knowing and understanding. That doesn't mean we understand everything. In fact, some of the most, I don't know, exciting experiences of learning and growth often happen when you learn something, and it simultaneously exposes a frontier of things you don't know.
The wise person is the one, right, who says, well, I didn't know what I didn't know, and the biggest privilege is to know a little bit more of how much I don't know. There's a humility in Sagittarius that doesn't have to be lost, in other words, just because we're expanding or growing, or you know, spaces opening in us or in our lives, it can make you feel really excited.
For example, a lot of the times when people get through the first year program with us, or they start studying Hellenistic anywhere, really. You get down to the roots of ancient astrology, you understand the philosophy, you understand where everything's coming from, and there's this sense that I now know more than I ever have, and I thought I knew something, but I'm realizing I didn't, and now I really know something. When you get into the roots of ancient astrology, it's like that, but then you are simultaneously aware of, like, wow, this is.. there's so much more.
It's one of the most confounding and exciting feelings at once, because you've never known more than you have now, and you're also exposed to how much more you don't know that you had no idea existed. I mean, what an exciting space to be in, no matter what. If you're.. you know, I think it happens to us in art or music, or any kind of topic you're learning, where if you take a really profound growth step, that growth step usually provides you with a simultaneous feeling that there is so much more, and how exciting.
I mean, I remember, you know, again, probably my first, my first ayahuasca experience is really the basic thing they did. They really helped me to do was to get sober, and after I lived about a year of sobriety, I had this increasing, expanding sense, and this was while Pluto was in Sagittarius, by the way, I had this expansive sense. That there was so much more possible to life through the lens of sobriety than I ever knew there could be.
A lot of people report this with sobriety, and I don't mean to get on a, you know, a tangent here, but for example, when you're sober, a lot of the times, what you don't know when you get sober is that your sensitivity is greatly increased. You're actually far more sensitive when you're sober, and that means that you're appreciating capacity. Your pleasure capacity is actually a lot higher in sobriety, but in order to get there, you sometimes have to go through this period of feeling like it's really not fun to be sober, right?
Like, I'm not, like, life feels kind of dry and boring, and I feel kind of, you know, a little empty inside. Well, if you keep going and you keep going, all of a sudden you realize that your sobriety is the most treasured thing you have, because it's the key to unlocking intimacy and actual, like a much richer palette for pleasure. Sobriety is like having a clean palette between meals, you know. They give you the little, I think it's like sorbet or whatever, that you clean your palate, and then you can taste the next flavors.
But sobriety is the same palate cleanser that allows you to taste life. The point is that when a lot of people start to get sober, there's wisdom. I knew this is good for me. I know this is good for me. And then there's an increasing and expansive sense that comes along with it, that there is so much more that life has to offer, and my sobriety is the key.
Not surprisingly, by the way, many Sagittarians go through periods of addiction and recovery, and that's a longer, deeper story than we have to get into. Has to do with some of the other qualities of Sagittarius and Jupiter, but Jupiter can overdo things. The point is, and then learn about moderation, and how much more expansive life and pleasure and experience can be, and how much more insight there is to be gained through a middle path.
The point here is that when we seek wisdom and we expand our horizons, in the beginning it's not always sexy. The beginning of wisdom is often a middle path, a path of living moderately, of taking care of ourselves in a better way that might look different, you know, in terms of how you get there for each person, but self care and the result of self care often initially feels like, well, there's less bad things happening, and with Sagittarius, that can be kind of boring, you know, it's like, ah, but if you keep living into that, the potential for wisdom, understanding, pleasure, joy, insight keeps expanding, and that really is the story of Sagittarius.
If you turn your life around and you give your life to spirit, and you do that work of finding joy, finding well-being spiritually, well, at first it's not very exciting. It feels just like I'm not doing the bad stuff that I know, but I'm not necessarily having fun, but stick with it, because the path opens and opens and opens the more we go. All right. Well, anyway, that was, uh, I guess that wasn't planned, but for fun.
So, anyway, hope you're having a great day. I've been dealing with allergies, so my voice is scratchy, but I made it through. Next, I am going to tell you about the year one program, which starts in June. Come study with us. It is an absolutely fantastic program. We have a great, awesome community of people. You guys are all the best to study with, to be around.
I can't wait to start this new program, as Uranus and Pluto are going to be trining. We're talking total electric energy for studying astrology. So, I'll tell you about the year one program next. Don't forget, my new book is out. If you get a copy, tell me in the comments which chapter, which stories were your favorite. Hit me on Instagram, tag me in a story with the book somewhere. It'd be really awesome to see that. Hope you're having a good day. We'll see you again soon. Bye.
