The Astrology of September 2026

Today we're going to take a look at all of the major astrological events for the month of September. This will be a good overview for all of the content that we're going to be covering on the channel in September. Most of these transits will have specific episodes devoted to them as the month goes on. It's nice to get a sense of where everything's heading, so we'll do this overview today.

In light of the fact that I'm doing a lot more horoscope episodes than I used to do, unless there is something that really steals the show, I will save horoscopes for lots of individual transits and scatter them throughout the month, as opposed to doing one big overview, which I used to do when I really hated horoscopes and only did one at the beginning of the month, but I've developed a better relationship with them. It all started with admitting to all of you. No, I'm just kidding.

If you remember, I did an episode kind of explaining why I found those kinds of episodes difficult, and it was weird. It was like sharing it honestly from that moment forward helped make them a little bit easier. I've come up with lots of creative ways of making them a bit easier. So you'll see lots of horoscopes on the topics of today's content as the month goes on, closer to the actual date of those events. So anyhow, that's our agenda for today.

Okay, well, I have picked the biggest transits of September. I'm going to walk you through them one at a time and tell you why I think they are significant. Remember, we'll do deep dive coverage on all of these as the month goes on, but there are some major headlines.

Let's start the very first of September. You're going to find me giving you coverage of this at the start of this week. So we actually looked at this yesterday and started our week with it, but that is the square between Mars and Saturn, which is perfecting today. So if you want coverage of that, that's yesterday's content. You can go and check that out. But I thought I'd mention it since it is happening today and it is the start of the month. Yesterday's video covered that.

Let's go forward to the next. Next topic for the month of September, which everything is sort of slow cooking in September, and then we have a pretty big takeoff between the 10th and the end of the month. On the 10th of September, Venus is going to enter the sign of Scorpio. This is going to be eventually where she turns retrograde in early October, around the second, and has a number of very powerful aspects to Pluto.

Three that she will make. We'll cover the square to Pluto that is happening, but Venus's long stay in Scorpio is really between now and the end of the year, with a brief interlude in Libra. Venus in Scorpio brings up some pretty deep work around love, sex, relationships, and the unconscious material of our social lives, our social standing, our friendships, intimacy, and love. So some deep transformative work to be done there.

And I'd be lying if I said I'm looking forward to it, but that's because who's looking forward to going into the underworld with Venus? You know what I mean. It's like, but you can discover some real deep, passionate substance with Venus in Scorpio. The depth, the sincerity, the authenticity, and the transformative and healing power of this transit is real. So it's not always easy to face the kinds of things that Venus in Scorpio brings up, but when we do, we're usually better for it. So we'll keep our hearts open.

Now on the same day, there's going to be a new moon in the sign of Virgo. I'm going to fast forward the chart a little bit so that we're looking at it together. But here is the new moon in Virgo coming through Thursday evening, September 10. Now that new moon in Virgo to me feels really appropriate for entering a season of the underworld, Virgo, the Harvest Maiden, in the ancient perspective from the ancient perspective of the northern hemisphere.

All of this is symbolic. It doesn't matter which hemisphere you live in. When it comes to the astrology piece of it, it obviously matters what season you live in. But we're not talking about that on the level of the zodiac's effectiveness because it's a symbolic language. When we look at Virgo, we're talking about the entrance into the dark half of the year, from the zodiacal perspective, and the dark half of the year is about the entryway into the underworld, into death and impermanence and transition and change from youth into adulthood.

All of the major transitions in life are like threshold moments, and Virgo is the sign that sits on the edge of that threshold moment with a kind of sacred anxiety. There's an innocence that has to be lost or let go of, but only on one level, we retain purity and innocence of the heart and spirit, no matter what, and sometimes we think we've lost it, and we have to go on a journey of recovering it. In various shamanic traditions, sometimes this is talked about as recovering pieces of lost self or lost soul pieces or fragments.

But the purpose of this moon cycle, as far as I can tell, with Venus also entering the underworld square to Pluto during the moon cycle, Mars will oppose Pluto. Is to remember to retain innocence and sweetness despite the eventuality and the destiny of loss, impermanence, death, and change, which come to all of us, and is not a failure of nature. It's not a failure most of the time. It's not our own personal failure. It's just part of life to go through these changes, and to learn and grow is natural.

So, how can we retain a spirit of innocence, goodness, purity, wholesomeness, while also really having to look at shadows and go into the darkness. This is the Virgo moon cycle before us, and this Virgo moon cycle is configured very closely to Mars in Cancer within about a degree of a sextile. That Mars in Cancer in its fall in Mars in its fall in the sign of Cancer will potentially also bring up some of this challenging material as it exists in families or close emotional bonds. So we'll keep that in mind.

Now on the same day, September 10, we're going to have Uranus turning retrograde, which means that a period of revision for the Uranian portion of our chart, the Uranus in Gemini portion of our charts, will start to occur. We'll go through revisions, reversals, reflections, integration of some of the early work of Uranus in Gemini. This is really the first major retrograde of Uranus in Gemini, I've got some separate work that we're going to be doing with that on the channel. In fact, this week.

Now, just a couple of days later, if we go forward to September 12, we're going to start going through Mercury is going to start going through a powerful sequence, and I want to map out the sequence first, rather than just doing it one piece at a time, and then we'll do it one piece at a time. So, the very first thing that's going to happen on September 12, and it happens just like bang, bang, bang, right in a row.

So you have Mercury will trine Pluto at the almost the exact same time that it opposes Neptune, and that is because, excuse me, that is because Pluto and Neptune are about to perfectly sextile one another, so they're very closely configured. So on the day of the new moon, within two days, the ruler of the new moon, Mercury in the sign of Libra, will be instantly going through the transformation of the outer planets. It will be starting to move through them. These two come first.

Then the very next day, if we take this forward just one day, Mercury will then immediately trine Uranus. So this is effectively bringing that basket configuration back together, and this will eventually sync up with Mercury sextile and Jupiter, who's very much out of the exact degree pattern of the basket from the summer, but these three outer planets being so closely configured right now, Mercury is activating all of them. Eventually, Jupiter as well, which sort of reprises the basket.

So let's just look at all of this, what this would mean from my perspective, is that Mercury in Libra, so diplomatic, so careful, so balanced and poised, thoughtful and intelligent, with an eye for beauty and balance, has its hands full mediating some very powerful energies from the outer planets, the transformative force of Pluto in Aquarius, asking for various group considerations to be balanced.

Neptune in Aries, which is opposite and places the pressure on Mercury to not suppress the individual nature or spirit in favor of diplomacy, but may also tempt Mercury in Libra to come off from its balance and maybe act in a way that is too reactive or even angry. So there's some tension being balanced there. At the same time, Mercury will then almost immediately trine Uranus, looking at a very inventive and eclectic, unusual, mentally liberated kind of energy or creative originality that's asking for incorporation into what Mercury in Libra is mediating.

All of that happens very quickly after the new moon, who is also hosted by this Mercury on the 10th, so between the 10th and the 13th of September, things are pretty lit up. And then, as if that's not enough, this is really the most powerful sequence of the month. Then we get into Venus squaring Pluto. That's Venus in Scorpio squaring Pluto in Aquarius, and this is where questions about relationships with people and the shadows of relationships with people within groups or communities, differing values or ideological tensions within key intimate relationships could come up, and also questions about love, sex, relationship, and maybe cultural or collective belonging; those kinds of things become really pronounced as Venus then squares Pluto.

There's some pretty deep work we're doing to balance various factors in relationships, since the sequence from Mercury is also taking place in a Venus ruled sign. Everything seems to come to a head right around the square of Venus to Pluto. On the 15th, Neptune and Pluto will also be perfectly sextile to one another, which brings about the ability for religious, spiritual, mystical kinds of themes and collective themes to have great transformative power, the balancing of these two energies can be really nice when they're sextile to one another, which means, for example, that groups can go through powerful reorientations, companies, collectives, cities, governments.

When these two planets align, there's a bit of a shift in the zeitgeist happening, and that shift can be in smaller or larger group or collective spaces. So some of what's happening in the middle of the month also seems to reflect a shift of culture or a shift within collectives or communities that all of this relational, all of these relational dynamics are constellating around. And then finally, on the 18th, Mercury goes through the next major portion of its work, which is the opposition to Saturn, and this looks, to my mind, again like another act of diplomacy, where the balance between other people's needs or will, or maybe even detractors or people who are being bullies or dealing with oppressive forces as diplomatically and tactfully as we can.

And that could for all of us that could also be psychological and inward. How am I dealing with my own inner critics or my own inner dominator complexes that which can come up in different relationships, different spheres of our life. How am I bringing them toward the light? How am I not losing myself and my own individual nature within the pressure from within the pressures of different social dynamics? That's also a question for that opposition.

Now, on the 21st, Mercury will then complete the circuit that it's on. It's like doing a national tour, a stadium tour, and the sextile to Jupiter comes on the 21st. That sextile to Jupiter is about starting to integrate a heart centeredness. If we have done all of this to the best of our abilities, we're probably going to feel like, look, you can't please everyone, but I've stayed true to my heart in working through various diplomatic tensions. I have stayed true to something light and noble and good inside of myself. I've done the best I can.

So, we move from there into the fall equinox. If you're in the northern hemisphere, spring equinox in the southern hemisphere, but it's an equinox moment either way. From the standpoint of our astrological symbolism, the fall equinox is about the balancing of light and dark, and in proportionality and symmetry, there's no up without down, there's no light without dark, there's no day without night, and there's no happiness without the opposite as well.

So opposites are an important part of the underlying theme of the equinox moment and the balancing of opposites and the harvest, which is again northern hemispheric centric symbolism, but astrologically speaking, is important for all of us, and that is about the balancing of opposites and the scales of balance karmically, morally, and so there's a this is a balancing month and a balancing moment with so much emphasis on Mercury's travel through Libra and then the fall equinox coming right after that work is done.

At the end of the month, then the sun goes through a pretty interesting sequence of its own. The sun will then enter Libra, obviously the sign of its fall, and then we have some of the similar dynamics with the outer planets taking place almost immediately. The sun will oppose Neptune and trine Pluto, and then trine Uranus, and we can see this playing out on September 26. The sun will trine Pluto, and we'll get on the 25th first the sun will oppose Neptune, and then on the 26th the sun will trine Pluto, and then on the 28th excuse me just a few days later then the sun will trine Uranus so we get this sequence.

Looks like this. We have the let's go through it individually. First, the sun opposes Neptune on the 25th. By the 26th, the sun will trine Pluto, and then by the 28th, the sun will trine Uranus. We have a similar mediating principle of the Sun in Libra, looking for balance and harmony, and hitting all of those outer planets, suggesting that this work is continuing, and it's continuing as we are about to get Mercury and Venus retrogrades in Scorpio, that place of the underworld, that will come back into Libra.

So we're digging into deeper, heavier places and seeking to bring balance and restoration of harmony to them. And that work continues with the sun through the end of this month, hitting the same things. Now, as if that's not enough, another further piece of evidence for your consideration. So, if we go to the 26th, we're going to see that in the midst of the sun aspects, we have the full moon in Aries, and there we have once again the appearance of the Aries Libra axis.

One part of it telling us to push forward bravely, personally, individualistically, heroically, cutting against the grain, standing up for ourselves, being courageous, fighting for something we believe in, while at the same time we have a lot of energy suggesting diplomacy, peace, tact, sensitivity, care for the other, and so how do we balance these things. The full moon in Aries will be pressing its hand on the scale in a way, and it's not to say that that means we just let one side crash and tip in one total direction, but it also may be trying to push back in a way against the tendency of the Libran planets to sort of cave in or crumble in a direction that is overcompensating or giving too much to forces that are maybe demanding too much.

Now around the same time, if we go forward one day on September 27, Mars will also get out of Cancer and enter Leo. Now we have a very fiery, potentially very self-aggrandizing kind of bullying Mars. That's its worst in Leo, but we also have the noble-hearted, courageous, heart of the lion acting from a place of courage, and so that's that energy of Mars in Leo is going to help us tremendously when it comes to the continued navigation of these pressures because Mars in Leo will stand up for itself and stand in its heart from a place of courage, which can mitigate some of those Aries energies and the tendency to be too hot, too impulsive, too reactive, or selfish.

Mars in Leo co-present with Jupiter in the South Node can bring some wisdom and tact and heart-centeredness to the equation. The very last thing that happens at the end of the month, and this is on the 30th of September, is that Mercury will also enter Scorpio, where both planets in early October will go retrograde, so that delving into the underworld continues, and the need to bring balance from darkness into a place of balance will continue.

We'll see this. I'll just preview this for you. We're going to see that Venus dips back into Libra by the end of excuse me by the end of October, and then we're seeing Mercury turn retrograde. And I don't actually think Mercury gets all the way to Libra. No, but Venus will continue in Libra after it turns direct, and will actually reach one last really nice sextile to benefic Jupiter by late November, and then finally gets back into Scorpio in early December and doesn't finally leave Scorpio until early January. This is like the sixth, seventh of January.

Six, seven. My kids have programmed me. I swear to God. Well, actually, it's funny because that's like if they heard me say it now, they'd grown because it like came and went. It was a thing around this house to the point where I think for the rest of my life, anytime I hear people say six and seven together, I'm gonna say it just like they did. Like they programmed me. It's like a jingle that gets stuck in your head.

Anyhow, and then all of a sudden, one day, it was just like that's so old, Dad. Okay, fine. Anyhow, I hope you're having a good day today.
