The First Light of the New Revolution — Sun Conjoins Uranus in Gemini

Today we're going to take a look at the sun moving into Gemini and making an immediate conjunction with Uranus. This is the first sun conjunction with Uranus since the new Uranus in Gemini era has begun. Like the recent transit of Mercury to Uranus, this is one of a number of events that will happen with Uranus in Gemini that will really trigger the initial awakening or expression of this next seven years of Uranus in the sign of Mercury.

So we're going to talk about it today from the standpoint of five things to watch for. We will do horoscopes after that tomorrow. So that's our agenda for today. This will be exciting anytime the sun and Uranus get together. In my mind, it's one of the more electric and dynamic transits we can experience, and a lot of very exciting experiences come psychologically from this combination.

I usually find that people feel more motivated by this transit than stressed out, but anyway, we'll take a look at it before we get into it. Is it going to be a big arrow today? But anyway, no, there's going to be no arrow. It has such an attitude. All right, I think I've got it fixed now, so you can see.

Yep, there we go. When in doubt, turn it off and turn it back on. The sun is moving into Gemini in the next 24 hours as we sit here on Tuesday. All right, here we go. Now it's working. Here the sun is about to be moving into the sign of Gemini. Here we sit on Tuesday, May 19.

Give it about one more day, and we'll see that later on tomorrow the sun will be about to transition by evening, depending on your time zone, into Gemini, where it will immediately go into the conjunction with Uranus. That conjunction perfects on Friday, May 22, but it is very much building between right now and the end of the week.

You're really going to notice it tomorrow evening, Thursday, building into Friday, just separating by the weekend, Saturday and Sunday. So between now and the end of the week, you have this conjunction active. It is a very powerful conjunction, because, like Mercury's previous conjunction to Uranus, which we were talking about last week, this is a conjunction that is really announcing Uranus' presence in the sign of Gemini.

What I want to do now is give you a list of things to watch for, followed by some further horoscopes on that Gemini house that we'll do tomorrow. So, these are in no particular order, and many of them will simply combine what I think are very familiar elements of sun Mercury archetypal combinations that you know everyone should kind of know by now, if you've been into astrology for a while, but with this particular placement of Uranus, everything changes and becomes much more mercurial, much more Gemini-like in its expressions.

Common things that we say about the sun and Uranus together are the awakening qualities. If you think about, you know, if you've ever had that moment where you wake up in the morning and you feel like just jumping out of bed, you feel so alive and rested and excited about the day, haven't even had your caffeine yet. Or let's use the caffeine example.

You get up in the morning, you have that first cup of coffee, and all of a sudden it's like, ah, I'm online. That's very sun Uranus. Sun Uranus is a jolt of vital creative energy that arouses, awakens, stirs from slumber, and tends to perpetuate a combination of creative, enlightened energy. It tends to be very motivating.

It tends to revolutionize very quickly a sense of purpose, intention, or directionality. This doesn't have to be like the biggest changes in life, but within any given whole sign houses, we'll look at tomorrow in horoscopes, you may be feeling a sudden burst of new thoughts or ambitions or direction or intention, and that can come very loud, very suddenly, very quickly when these two planets get together, especially because Uranus has just entered a new whole sign house in Gemini.

You're getting stimulation of that outer planet with faster moving planets, which tends to really start announcing the presence of the outer planetary shift. So with that in mind, let's look at these five things to watch for. The first one that comes to my mind, I just called signal changes. What I mean by this are sudden announcements or reversals or disruptions that come through information or communication.

A sudden shift of plan or agenda, a sudden piece of news or an insight that flips the script or changes plans, and also anything in media that could happen that disrupts or disturbs things like technology, electric grids, media platforms. It could be that there are announcements about new technologies that will transform how people learn or communicate that are being announced, or that are being further developed, or important turning points are taking place within the tech industries.

Those kinds of things would be completely in line with Mercury's recent transit and with the sun. There are potentials here that information will spread very rapidly and have a kind of jarring, startling awakening effect. What kinds of news, information, ideas, gossip even are moving at lightning speed and redirecting the narrative, or what everyone is focused on, or thinking about now?

You could also see, again back to media and tech, just anything surrounding AI or education, or transportation, or telecommunications, or electricity and sources of power, or energy. A lot of these things are going to be the subject of Uranus' long stay in Gemini anyway, but we could see some first major signs of the times changing as these transits are coming through again.

Mercury being the first last week, there could be some sense that a conversation change is happening. This could be in your personal life, but also collectively. When I say signal change, what I mean is that things are happening that signal a change in collective mind or thought or conversation or what's important and what we're thinking about. Somehow there could be the kinds of things that happen with this that illuminate and bring to the surface, but also revolutionize and disturb the status quo.

So that's where there could be things like revelations, leaks, whistleblowing, destabilizing kinds of information events, and those things can become loud and bright, and maybe very awakening again. Signal changes can be very personal, but it's worth mentioning because some of the first signs of the Uranus in Gemini times are likely to be appearing right now.

Number two, I called it the trickster awakens. Hermes is a trickster, and Uranus is sometimes called the trickster. Mercury is present in the sign, right, and this is a very Promethean combination, the sun and Uranus. So the kind of restless, nervous, rebellious, creative, defiant, and original qualities can become very loud, and the trickster can play a major role in it.

Thinking about something in a different, devious, rebellious, and creative manner can become really important right now. Also, there can be a kind of impatience with anything that's rigid or dogmatic or outdated or traditional or conservative, where these two planets coming together want to break out of things that are constrictive mentally or intellectually. This is a great combination for giving voice to people who are contrarian, or who disrupt the status quo in the way they think, or the ideas that they have, like an intellectual rebelliousness.

There can also be more anxiety or overstimulation, and almost a difficult feeling like you're plugged into an electrical outlet. You've got to sometimes trouble to unplug and regulate the overstimulated nervous system. A lot of things can happen sort of rapid fire with this transit that produce excitement, but also potentially fragmentation, and can be a little destabilizing.

Brilliant insights and ideas can arrive really quickly, but impulsivity is the tool of the trickster to teach, you know. So trickster teaches through impulsivity and through quickness and through fascination and curiosity. These are tools of the trickster that can arrive right now for very specific purposes, but one that we don't always see in the flashy, quick, instantaneous nature of the transit.

It might take a few days and a few impulsive decisions, but the shadow of this would be that there's a potential for things that are reactive and impulsive and quick that we learn from, because we just move too fast. Number three, I just called mobility. Because any of this can, well, first of all, again speaking to the collective, Uranus in Gemini is tied historically to innovative periods in transportation and travel, shipping infrastructure, air travel and commerce and marketplaces, anything that's digitalized, especially with Uranus in the sun.

Decentralized marketplaces or forms of marketing, or sales and products that defy conventional placements, or something like, for example, I think we're going to see a lot of innovative products that bring together things that feel like they shouldn't go together. I wish I could come up with an example, because my God, I know that sounds really abstract, but anyway, I'll just leave it at that.

Gosh, no, I just can't. I can see it in my mind, but it's like I can't articulate it. It's almost like if you were to, you know, there's certain demographics of people that buy things that probably don't buy other things, and I feel like there's the potential for products and ideas to bring things that look like they shouldn't be part of the same demographic together.

That's the quirkiness and inventiveness of Uranus in Mercury's world sign. There's a tendency, in other words, toward adaptability, multitasking, and fluidity across spectrums that move something from polarized to more fluid. Then that could take place in a lot of different spheres: in relationships, in the mind, in marketplaces, in product design and stuff like that.

All right, so the next one on my list would be learning in new languages. Especially this first decan of Gemini absolutely loves coming into contact with new languages and with new forms of knowledge, new skills, the development of new ideas that are very attractive to us. This is one of the reasons I've been saying that astrology education at this time is ideal, because it's one of those languages that, when you get into it, you can get really obsessed with and quickly learn a lot.

It's very Hermes-like in that way, where it's like getting bit by a bug and becoming sort of obsessed, and then suddenly you're just looking at the world through a new language set. But that's also very Uranus in Gemini, is the point. New curiosity around language, symbolism, coding, astrology, interdisciplinary studies. That's what I love about astrology, is that it brings a lot of things together that you wouldn't think would go together.

There could be emphasis on teaching, writing, communicating, and catalyzing social, cultural, and intellectual norms, or what do I want to say here? Scholarship or podcasting, or even the way someone teaches or communicates something. It's very creative around learning and language and ideas and thoughts. All right, last on my list for the day, I just called it the collective mind.

I think we're about to go through an era the next seven years where we're going to be talking a lot about perception, relativism, and truth. Some people think that things are either absolute or they're relative, but there's a kind of absolute relativity and a relative absolutism that exists in a relationship with one another. They're not just polarized views of what truth is or how it exists, in other words, but they both seem to.

Even the ancient Pythagoreans, and you can see this in the I Ching as well, believed that truth had dimensions to it that were very relative, not able to be uniform like the Ten Commandments or something like that in terms of laws or rules of truth. That doesn't mean that they also don't exist, you know. I remember when I was studying ethics in my philosophy degree, a lot of what the ethics program was about, and a lot of the reading we did, was looking at how you have moral standards that are sort of universal that everyone agrees on, but then how gray things can be when there are unique situations that come up.

I think one of the things that's going to happen with this Uranus in Gemini era is we become more aware of when someone is bending truth for the sake of deviance, rebellion, getting away with things, justifying things, making excuses, versus when a sort of moral absolute is legitimately being called into question because the context demands some flexibility. Those two things are going to be in a dialogue.

Basically, what we're saying is that there's going to be more emphasis in the collective around perception and around relativity, as well as truth. What is true is true and can't be bent or manipulated, but both perspectives are going to be in a more acute dialogue. You're going to start noticing this in how we're talking about things, how we talk about technology, how we talk about whether some facet of our world right now is good or bad.

There's got to be room for a lot of nuance, and discerning, careful differentiating. And then there's got to be some room where we just have hard boundaries and basic features of right and wrong, or good and bad, for us as people. There's going to be a very acute level of this conversation taking place. I am having a hard time finding my words today, just being honest.

Anyway, um. The other thing that's really interesting about this is that this can be one of those inspired moments. When we start recognizing true innovation, truly exciting, applause-worthy breakthroughs in thinking, or in teaching, in writing, in the ideas that we live by and we grow by as people, we're going to start seeing in the Uranus and Gemini era, we're going to start celebrating people who help us grow as a collective because of the quality of their communication and the quality of their mind and the quality of their thinking.

It's a really beautiful time to celebrate rational intelligence paired with intuitive, sensitive, thoughtful, and artistic qualities. I say that because a lot of the times people think about Mercury or Gemini as purely rational, but Mercury has a secret opposite tension with Venus, the artistic and the sensual. Ideally Mercury is both sensual and rational, that there is a union between the two.

So this transit of Uranus through Gemini over the next seven years is going to be about breaking us out of limited ways of thinking. One of the most dominant forms of thinking is hyper-empirical and sort of looks down its nose at artistic or intuitive ways of knowing. But imagine the real awakening right now from Uranus in Gemini being that real intelligence incorporates both. That's such a Gemini thing, that you can have two things at once.

Anyway, these are some thoughts. I hope that they're useful. Pay attention over the next couple of days to the sun conjoining Uranus. We're going to do horoscopes tomorrow to give you a feel for where this is landing in your birth chart, and hopefully that will help you track it and notice it, because there's nothing better than being able to see and identify the presence of these archetypes in your experience.

So, the goal of a talk like today on the channel always is to give you some tools and ideas for helping you notice the appearances of the symbols. From that point, it becomes so much more participatory. When we're always reacting and we're unconscious of the symbols, then most of what's happening we experience as happening to us. Whereas when we have symbolic awareness, and we can identify the symbols in the midst of our experience, we have more room to relate, we have more room to meaningfully participate.

Choices become available to us because of that awareness that are otherwise often not there. So, I hope that this is useful for you. Stick around.
