Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/]. And today I am joined by my friends and colleagues, Alexandra and Whitney, to discuss the astrology of May.
There are a number of really interesting transits this month. Probably the highlight is Saturn moving into Aries. We’ll be talking about that, and give you a sense of what you're going to see covered on the channel in the month ahead, as well as kind of synopsis and some really unique takes, as always, from the ladies on all of the transits for the month.
And I'm just really glad to have them to pitch in every month. It makes it so much more fun to create a conversation around the astrology for the month ahead.
So before we get into it, remember to like and subscribe. Share your comments if you've got them, we'd love to hear from you if you have a grab story to share.
Story to share through any of the things that have happened over the past couple of very busy astrological months, use the hashtag grab. Tell us your story. Tell us the name of the transit in the story, or email it to us. Grab the Nightlight astrology.com.
I am in promotion mode for a couple of things right now. I'm just going to show you two of them right here. If you go to Courses, first year course ancient astrology for the modern mystic, my first year course in Hellenistic astrology begins June 22.
At the end of today's content, you will find an informational video tagged on that takes you through all of the course contents, how the course is organized, how it all works. So check that out.
At the bottom of the page, you will find enrollment options, the early bird payment and the early bird sale. I should say those payment plans and payment options are available until May 15, so you can save some on the cost of the course.
With that, there's also need-based tuition. If you need a little help to make the program happen. We want to make sure that people, who know a lot of people are struggling right now financially. So if that's you, you need a little help. We want to make sure that it's people aren't priced out of studying something sacred that's important to us.
The only other thing that I have to say today before we get right into it is that I have been really happy to be promoting this book *Divination, Oracles and Omens*. This is a book by Michelle Ernie and David Zeitlin.
They are scholars who have put together just an incredible resource of divinatory traditions from all over the world in one handy little reference book. I get nothing for promoting this. They sent me a copy, really as a courtesy to be like, we know you're really into divination. We thought you'd like this.
I mean, African basket divination, Mongolian forms of divination, Indian astrological, the Ottoman astrology, Chinese astrology. Like there's so many different interesting traditions in this book, I'm so glad I have it as a desk reference.
And I'm truly, just wholeheartedly recommending that if you're into this kind of stuff, it's nice to have as a reference. So I hope you'll support people. I think it's important, when people are doing academic work into divination, that we support them.
So anyway, check that out. I think you'll enjoy it. On that note, let us get into the astrology of May with Alexandra and Whitney.
Hey, welcome back. Hello, yes, and I also have to say a big thank you for covering for me while I was gone. It was really, really nice to be able to have a little vacation time, and you guys stepped in and just did such a nice job. So thank you.
Alexandra Blair
Thank you for having us, and I hope you had a nice, restful vacation.
Adam Elenbaas
Oh, shoot, I lost my audio. Of course, everything is logically crazy today. Okay, wait, there we are. Now, I didn't hear anything you said after I mentioned Thank you. I didn't hear what you said.
Alexandra Blair
So I said a bunch of mean things. No, I said that. I hope you had a good vacay. It's always fun to watch your travels on Instagram and like, follow along with you guys. Looked fun.
Adam Elenbaas
The sun is nice. It's like, in today in Minnesota, as you can see, there's sun coming into my room. I'm like, Oh, my God, it's nice. Thank you.
Whitney Kranz
We're so glad you got a good vacation and we had fun without you, but we're happy you're back.
Adam Elenbaas
Thank you. Well, so what happened today was the platform that I use had some kind of bug where it wasn't sending the authentication code to log in, so we got stuck, which means we're short on time with our child care schedule over here today.
Usually what we do to start, if you're new to the channel, is we tell some stories from the previous month, but to make sure we have plenty of time today to get through everything, given this little tech, it's a sun Pluto as we're making this so the power outage of the tech gods came to us.
But anyway, we're gonna, we've been grabbed. Yeah, totally, there's our grabbed story, real thing.
Adam Elenbaas
But anyway, so we're gonna dive right into the astrology for the month of May, rather than do our typical recap. But don't worry, there's a lot of ways. Talking about this month astrology is naturally going to be reflecting on what happened last month anyway.
So Alexandra, where are we starting? You, Alexandra does such a nice job of giving us our outlines each month. And Whitney too, but you come up with these clever ways of organizing things. So tell us about the beginning of May.
Alexandra Blair
Yeah. Okay, well, actually, I feel like Whitney had a killer way of thinking about the first transit, first one and a half transits really of the month. That's like some Beltane fires, right?
Whitney Kranz
Yeah, that's exactly what was conjuring in my mind. Because we open the month on May 2 with Venus conjoining Neptune in Aries. All of the sudden, Venus is back in Aries, and she hits Neptune right away.
And it's really interesting, because this beginning of the month, if we look at the large scope of May it this is more. It feels more April.
Alexandra Blair
Way more April.
Whitney Kranz
We were kind of discussing this offline to begin, but it's almost like a bridge into May, or like shoulder season, we could say, and Alexandra is saying that it's a transit in a half because we have on May 3, then Pluto stationing retrograde in Aquarius.
So these are both happening very close to one another. And of course, when Venus enters Aries and conjoins Neptune. They're both automatically in a sextile to Pluto. So we'll kind of feel these energies all together.
Now this is happening right after May 1, or many who celebrate May Day or Beltane. And so what this is, what this sort of like romantic fantasy of Venus Neptune is conjuring, is like, like, what are the fires of Beltane asking us to start the month with, right?
It's like fertility and abundance and the prospect of a sweet vision. And it's like so interesting that Pluto stationing retrograde then happens right in the mix there.
And if we take the chart forward just one day to see that it's kind of wild because the moon is directly opposite Pluto as Pluto stations retrograde. Pluto is still in this slightly wide opposition with Mars there as well.
And so this is where sort of that echo of April's astrology comes into play. And I don't know why, but when I look at this, so first of all, I'm like, Oh, something with the Pluto Mars opposition is having like Mars is making Pluto think twice.
Like do like a like a backspin, right? But with the moon involved, I just can't help but see this mothering figure who, or like a babysitter. Was like, Pluto, you need a you need a timeout.
Like, you need to go reassess how you're working with this, like, romantic vision that Venus has, because it's all related and, like, figure your shit out. So how's that to open the month?
Adam Elenbaas
I love it, yeah. I think, you know, just for people who might have missed last month's astrology, or who were not paying as close attention, there was just so many things happening in Aries around that there was, you know, really like March too, obviously, like March and April carrying over, there was just a lot of things happening in Pisces and Aries both signs and then, of course, the Mars opposition to Pluto sort of came through right at the end of April.
It's coming through as we're recording this. In fact, um, I It's funny, because we're this week, on Friday for listeners, there will be Pluto retrograde horoscopes. I don't usually do planet, you know, outer planet retrograde horoscopes. That's like not a thing for me.
But the reason that I decided to make it a thing is because this is the first full retrograde that Pluto has done in Aquarius without backing into Capricorn.
When you look back, it's also really interesting to note that Pluto's ingresses and Retrogrades have revolved around Mars conjunctions and oppositions in almost every single case.
And so the change of direction for Pluto, not just now, but historically since entering Aquarius, has happened quite closely to Mars contacts. So I thought, yeah, there's, this is a big deal.
You've got Venus hitting Neptune, and then Pluto turns retrograde, will not back into Capricorn. It's sort of giving us our full, a first full, concentrated period of revision or reflection on what it's been doing in that place, in our birth charts, too.
So yeah, yeah. And it's interesting to think about it being connected with Venus and Neptune, I guess my the first thought I'll add, and then I want to hear what you guys think, too, is just that the catalytic power of zero degrees one degrees of Aries is just tremendous.
Saturn is going to enter later this month onto that zero degree Aries marker. And to me, the amount of cardinality alongside coming right off from the engagement of Mars and Pluto is suggesting that, yeah, there's there's new things that we're implementing.
I also like to think about this as is there a wave of soothing or calming energy coming on the heels of the Mars Pluto opposition, like Venus Neptune and a fire sign kind of nicely configured to both Mars and Pluto, feels to me like, oh, maybe there's, I mean, it's still pretty fiery, but there's like, it feels like a little like a salve.
We've used that word before, right? Like something kind of a cooling, or an evening or a harmonizing that could come in after the intensity of the Mars Pluto opposition.
And aside from that, you guys know I love date nights around Venus. Neptune always my favorite. So,
Alexandra Blair
yeah, I think when I was thinking about what you were saying, Whitney, about Beltane, this felt so like lustful and wanting, and it's almost like the crisis of the Mars Pluto has revealed some some want somewhere in our lives.
And that kind of tied in, of course, to the bonfires, like the sweaty bonfires of May Day. And I was specifically thinking of Walpurgis Night, which is like a German festival that is celebrated around this time, April 30, May 1.
It's like that spring half point between the equinox and the solstice. And it was kind of a pre-Christian ritual, but later designated in honor of Saint Walpurgis.
And it's interesting, because in the pre-Christian context, it was quite a pagan festival. And in the Christian context it was celebrating this saint who was known for being sort of great at battling illness, but also witchcraft.
And so that kind of tied in, for me, this sort of like springtime Halloween vibe that taps into a little bit of the Forbidden pull of those Plutonian themes and Pluto stationing being like, hey, they we have this long tradition, and then all of a sudden the tradition sort of gets warped, but it's sort of about the same thing, and that felt also pretty relevant that springtime Halloween theme for The Full Moon in Scorpio, which is happening this month.
You know, what
Whitney Kranz
a great segue, I
Adam Elenbaas
think, like Venus. Like Venus, to me, with Neptune, is also sort of, she's coming back through the degrees where she was retrograde in in Aries, and it makes me wonder about what got started at the beginning of the retrograde that is now coming back into focus somehow.
So the whole sign house of Aries for all of us, is the place where I would recommend you, know, looking or thinking about in terms of the topics in your life that could be coming back up, going back to the retrograde.
Oh, God. When did the retrograde start? Was it early March
Alexandra Blair
1? Yeah. It was like, Mark Venus, yeah, yeah. So, you know, also, you know, like there was a Mercury Neptune conjunction right there as well on April 16, which that, you know, I don't think if I had been thinking about it, that I if I hadn't thought about it, I don't think I would have noticed what happened to me.
But it was such, such an intense clarity on that day, and I had other kind of clients and friends saying the same. So maybe thinking back about that, and these are these things happening in early areas are foreshadowing all of the Saturn Neptune buildup that's happening from now till February.
So they might be important to take note of in that context. Just
Adam Elenbaas
just while we're on the topic, I'm going to jump around for just two seconds and also recommend that people pay attention to right about here on May 13, you're going to see Venus go across the Eclipse degree.
And any, anytime you've got stuff cooking on an eclipse degree right after an eclipse, I've always found those to be significant little windows. So for tracking Venus and Aries, maybe watch around the 14th or so.
This would be just after the full moon, which we're gonna look at next. But
Alexandra Blair
untie in
Adam Elenbaas
let's see. Okay. Okay, so we'll go forward. Now. It's interesting, because, in a way, the month, but from the second until the 12th is is kind of quiet.
This is a little bit of a lull, relatively speaking, then we hit a Full Moon in Scorpio. And I think for me, you know, as a someone who's Taurus rising, I always feel like these, these full moons in Scorpio that come during the springtime are so interesting because the I really get to experience the dichotomy between Taurus and Scorpio.
It's like, a little like you were just talking about Halloween. I feel like it's, yeah, it's like Halloween revisiting me in the middle of spring.
Alexandra Blair
Yeah, this one particularly because, you know, the moon and sun both have wider ranges of engagement. So and even in whole sign aspect, this is still very much activating that Mars Pluto, that's going on the Sun is also moving in to Uranus.
And that conjunction, there is sex tiling Saturn at the, you know, anaretic degree of Pisces. It This, to me, is so very silent, but is so begrudging.
It really feels like any unresolved power dynamics from that Mars Pluto are going to settle into your bones right here. You know?
Adam Elenbaas
Yeah, it does feel especially given on the same day. Let me just flash a different label up of for our transes Same day Mercury scoring Pluto.
Um, yeah. It's like, well, What? What? Like mercury and Taurus is usually pretty thoughtful and careful to harmonize with words like you see a lot of people who have wonderful singing voices, or they're talented musicians with something like mercury and in Taurus, or a Mercury Venus signature.
But this is, you know, Mercury squaring Pluto and then a Scorpio Full Moon. So I get the feeling like there could be also some, like, when you said that the resentments or the grudges are down to the bones, wouldn't be shocked if we were seeing things, two layers of things, one thing that's being rationalized, or we're trying to harmonize something or make it appear very rational.
But there's a lot of emotion or other motivations that are maybe less overt, that comes to my mind,
Alexandra Blair
yeah, it feels like almost being surprised by the strength of your emotion, like, sort of like, Oh, I didn't realize that I still was carrying that.
I feel like it. There's something I hesitate to say resolved or like resolution, because it doesn't feel that word has a sort of a constructive connotation.
And it almost just feels like, instead of a catharsis, it's it's a you're carrying something differently now, and it's maybe a little deeper and grudgier. What do you think? Whitney,
Whitney Kranz
I I definitely am getting the volatility of this particular lunation. I feel like the Scorpio Full Moon is along with this mercury square Pluto, it's giving me something to the effect of how the ending informs a new beginning.
And in astrology, we talk about cycles all the time. So that could be true in so many ways, but specifically I'm thinking about it in this way, and I'm so glad you both brought up the tension of opposites, this total juxtaposition that's happening while the sun is notorious and it's spring and the sun is shining and it's new growth, right?
But at the same time, we're getting this Full Moon with this intense, deep, dark energy, right? And, and Scorpio is a water sign, so it is so deeply emotional and and intuitive and even psychic in this place.
And so I've been so something that's happened to me in April and maybe March basically off the eclipse season. Actually, as soon as Neptune entered Aries, I've been digging into the decans the ninth or Aries is my ninth house, and so we're not surprised that I am digging into new learning fair right, especially around us, a topic like astrology.
But it's really interesting. When we look at this decan in the Tao. This is Venus's decan. It's also Jupiter's bound that this is happening in. Scorpio.
And isn't it interesting that it's actually happening in a fairly benefic area, but it's when, like, too much good goes bad. You know what I mean? Like there's, there's almost a sense of like, debauchery here, I might say.
And I'm specifically thinking about, if we're talking about the Tao and Scorpio representing the death card, there's like this, this sense that, in order to bring new life, we first have to a little bit has to die, right?
It's like further the I'm trying to articulate my thoughts here because I have, like a my silly I'm exploding in my mind, and I think that that's a really good, like representation of what we're talking about, because of the depth of Scorpio and the interconnectedness of everything, that everything is working deep under The Earth, while it looks like, oh, fungus is gross. It looks like it's dying, right?
But it's actually eating away at things in order to spur new life. And so I guess that's my little, like, fired up moment. I think this is the sun Pluto coming through right now during our recording.
But it's like, it's like this whole like death spurs new life and the under workings of the things we've got under the surface, I'm hot, yeah,
Adam Elenbaas
that's good. Oh, good. I keep I gotta just add in two little thoughts about the Uranus conjunction, slash opposition, with the full moon there.
You know, it's a little broadly opposed, but not, not too much. And sun is going into a conjunction, which we'll talk about next.
But I think that when you get a Full Moon in Scorpio with the contact to Uranus, which we've, we've had these before, there's a feeling of the status quo being shaken up, but the tourist side of things there may be like, I think of this is a really simple and kind of mundane example, but I think of the shake up that happens when you decide you're going to repurpose a room in your house and suddenly that room falls into chaos and disorder, and you don't like to be in it, or it feels messy or, you know, and there's this gestational period where, well, eventually it becomes something nice and Taurian, but there's a kind of creative chaos at play, and maybe even a period of, not really, you know, like we were redoing a room in the basement.
We made it into a music room. I hated being in there while there was, like the floor was pulled up, you know, and, like, just that kind of chaos of the creative process comes to my mind. So maybe that's appropriate for this.
But we do have this. I like this title, uh, a mid month power surge. This comes right off from the Full Moon in Scorpio. And it really, I think it's probably encapsulated by these two transits.
But Alexandra, you may have had more in mind, the sun conjoins Uranus, which we were just talking about on the 17th, on the same day, Mercury will square Mars.
And remember that at the full moon we had mercury square to Pluto so effectively bringing together the Mars Pluto opposition, again through its transit.
What comes to your mind with respect to these two transits happening on the 17th Whitney?
Whitney Kranz
Yeah, like you were saying, I am really connecting this sun conjoining Uranus moment, or Uranus cazimi. We could call it as a as connected to the full moon that we were just talking about, obviously.
And I'm glad that you brought that in, because, like, we have had so many Uranus impacted lunations recently, and I think it speaks to the volume of change that is occurring right now.
I mean, even in 2025 just with all of these outer planet ingresses, right and with Uranus involved, it's like just upping the ante. And so I absolutely agree with you there, and I love this idea of the sort of power surge that this brings.
I mean, if I could, if I'm going back to my i. Uh, you know, death spurring new life. Then this moment, this sort of cazimi moment, and then what's happening with mercury squaring Mars.
It's like, it's like the phoenix rising from the ashes, right? This is the, this is that sort of like change and rebirth moment that that theme, I think, is really, really present throughout a lot of this Astrology of May.
It's very, very transformational. Um, and this, like, Mercury Mars is just part of that, like, I feel like what Mercury is doing here is dissecting and translating the energy that's happening so we can put it into action.
And It actually reminds me of what we have gone through in April with the TE square between Sun Mars and Pluto, right? So if that was kind of like the visionary transformation, then this is how we're figuring out the details.
So I'm really seeing that all connected Nice. What about you, Alexandra?
Alexandra Blair
I'm kind of thinking about Adam and your excellent master class lecture about temperament. You talk about the archetypal storylines of different slices of the zodiac.
And I was thinking a lot about one of those Taurian slices of life, which is the struggle between man and beast in a Taurus environment, and thinking about Venus hitting that Neptune, then coming in through the degrees of that Eclipse in Aries, which is in aversion to everything that's happening here in Taurus and Venus is in a trine to that Mars and Leo that perfects on the 22nd.
I just wonder about feeling fast, but thinking slow, and the quickness of your of the beast rising to the surface in ways that we can't see because of the aversion there, and that sort of slowness of mercury putting pressure on That action and feeling and desire that's moving a lot faster, you know, I think, in a constructive way, might refer to this like shift in purpose.
And I'm really seeing and feeling that through this Saturn Jupiter square, which doesn't kind of come perfect again until later June, July, I think, but it is within, you know, the degree range of a square at this point still.
And so I think it's reactivating to Whitney's point some of the previous things that we've gone through, particularly in 2024 the stuckness of that mutable Grand Cross that we lived through for several months.
But generally just a shift in purpose, and like these feelings that are maybe moving slower than your conscious desires are moving.
Adam Elenbaas
I love that. Yeah. I mean, it's interesting that if we go forward just a touch at the same time, Venus is basically trine to Mars about a degree off.
Won't Trine until the 22nd but from the 17th through the 24th about a week, we'll have the sun conjoined Uranus, Mercury square Mars. Venus will Trine Mars, and then we're going to have mercury conjoined Uranus, catch up to where the sun was and conjoin Uranus as well.
That period of time is, you know, super uranium. You know, we've got two of the transits are from Uranus, and then we have a couple of them from mercury.
So the mercury Uranus, dynamic Mercury, Mars sun. Uranus, like all of that, feels pretty Sparky, where, I think the impetus to revolutionize things, where, to me, that means, like creative breakthroughs breaking through stagnant or stuck energy, the feeling that this is new, this is different, or that kind of unexpected Uranian quality where you go.
I didn't see that coming. But the thing that I love about it is that, for example, the mercury Mars square taking place on the 17th, right there, Mercury's square to Mars is in the superior position.
So you have mercury in a Venus ruled sign overcoming Mars, while Venus herself, the ruler of mercury, is in a superior trine with reception to Mars.
This does not feel to me like the I mean, it's always possible you see the dark side of Mars and Leo, but I really do feel like Mercury and Venus are pressing a lot of. Of smoother harmonizing energy onto Mars.
It's like, you know, I'm always reminded of this thing that was pretty common for my grandpa, which is that if there were boys in the room like myself, cousins, whatever, there was a particular demeanor that he had, because he was just kind of an he was a bit of a curmudgeon.
He was a war veteran. He used to be an alcoholic, all this kind of stuff, you know. And he was kind of traditional. I guess if girls like my sister was in the room, he was suddenly the sweetest person you ever met.
He had Mars in Leo, right? So when I think about Mars in Leo, in this condition, I think about, you know, the gallantry or the softness of Mars and Leo when it is swooned by my sister in the room, or, you know, versus me, or whatever.
It's a silly example, but I just feel like there's something, a kind of breakthrough that's happening. And I really get the feeling that there's a harmonizing quality at the time of this breakthrough that's going to allow for it to be softer and more constructive.
Alexandra Blair
Totally that story is, is man versus beast, the shadow like temperament thing. But I wanted to say that on July 4, Venus will conjoin Uranus at 29 Taurus.
So I feel like this stuff happening with Uranus here, activating building up into something really kind and sweet, I think, frankly, later in the summer.
Yeah,
Adam Elenbaas
I love that. So let's just review really quick our mid month power surge. It's really May 17, Sun conjoins Uranus, like that revolutionary impulse Mercury squares Mars, but this little softer Mercury with a Venus that's also trining Mars, both in superior position.
So they'll probably be a little bit lighter version of a Mercury Mars square, which can be like a little bit more cutting or executive, mentally, verbally, etc, Venus Trine Mars, to me, is nice.
And so far as you have a smooth, flowing connection between, you know, the sort of quintessential yin and yang so and then Mercury conjoins, Uranus on the 24th all of which have this mark of revolution and created breakthrough behind them, and, like we said, hopefully with a little softer delivery, but expect, certainly this period to be very Uranian.
Then we get to probably the biggest transit of the month. We buried the lead. So let's go to that, which is Saturn entering Aries on the 24th.
I thought, Alexandra, you said it really well when we were off air. You said that this is something that people are going to find no shortage of content being created about this topic in the month of May.
So we don't need to, like, try to cover every angle that exists for Saturn in Aries. You'll certainly find a lot of content, probably from all three of us on our respective channels and creative spaces.
So but let's I'd love to hear from you guys. What do you think? What comes to mind immediately about Saturn into Aries,
Whitney Kranz
the Piscean waters are free.
Adam Elenbaas
Just get me the hell out of Pisces. No, yeah, yes,
Whitney Kranz
yes, exactly, yes, we will be happy about that. But you know, this immediate conjunction or near conjunction that happens with Neptune is so interesting.
And you know, Saturn will sort of dance here with Neptune until they both retrograde back into Aries this fall. So, you know, we're free, but not for long in Pisces, I mean, and it's kind of giving us this preview of, think we've talked about in this on this channel in the past, with all of these outer planetary shifts, this sort of idea of like a whole new world, or a westward vision type of a thing.
And so this is, this is giving us this preview and such a we, we commented on this under the Venus Neptune conjunction, but at zero degrees Aries, it's so inceptional, and Saturn is a planet of limits, right?
So if I could sum this up in like one little keyword. It might feel like imposing limits on our new beginnings, right? And but there's, but there's so much more nuance to it.
And we could talk, I mean, we could spend a whole hour here talking about all. Of the history of this. In fact, I know Adam. You have a great webinar that specifically speaks to Saturn and Neptune in Aries, which would be a great deep dive for folks.
I know Alexandra, and I have some content planned around this as well. So there's a wealth of information, but that sort of imposition of limits around our New Beginnings is really, really prevalent here and like, inflammatory Neptune is there, right?
It's like, I don't know, tell me what you guys think.
Adam Elenbaas
Oh, you go first, Alexandra, okay,
Alexandra Blair
I was, well, I am planning, I am indeed planning a lecture on Saturn into Aries with a friend that we're going to be doing a webinar, and Whitney and I are doing some content.
So I have been revisiting this seminal text. Maybe you've heard of it. Liz green, Saturn as my copy. I love the. Have one of the, yeah, I have one of the older versions that has this incredible illustration of Saturn on it.
But in any case, I'm really struck by how Liz talks about my friend. Liz talks about the effect of Saturn in a fire sign, and how a fire sign and the expression of fire doesn't need to mitigate its experience of life through something whereas the water sign is looking for emotional context, or an Air sign is looking for intellectual context.
Fire is fire is the I Am, and expresses and contains an inherent sense of purpose. And I pulled this one quote from from this book where she she says it's difficult for a person intent on a mountain climb to comprehend the fact that the climb is meaningless and that the reward of the summit is illusory.
And I feel like that is it was not even actually from her Saturn and Aries section, but it's so related. She goes on further to kind of discuss the temptation to seek purpose and validation from external sources, and the cost of that is frustration and purposelessness.
And I'm just so thinking about that, because Saturn and its fallen Aries, I think, can add its worst to be deeply isolated and cemented shut and stuck in that isolation, feeling outside, feeling like an outsider, I think, in the most some of the most constructive ways, it can be kind of like a maverick.
But I'm just thinking about Saturn as occupying this position of friction in relationship to the status quo, and what the nature of Fall means, versus, you know, detriment or the more positive versions of that dignity, and how fall is circumstantial, and it's not as consistent.
It's not bad every day or difficult every day. It's sort of peaks and valleys in the in the lunar way, which is something Adam I know you talk talk a lot about, so I'd love to hear what you
Adam Elenbaas
have to say. Yeah, that was so nice. I love what both of you said. It was so well put in imposing limitations in New Beginnings that's actually subtler and more nuanced and sophisticated, an idea that then it may appear when you just hear it come out of Whitney's mouth.
I loved that because you're you got Neptune so visionary entering Aries like, let's go. Saturn comes in and says, you know, shoot, you're gonna start with it's almost like you're, you're you're starting, and you don't have all the supplies you need to hit the Oregon Trail.
So I that to me, doesn't mean never, but it may mean that some recent enthusiasms are being temporarily given some kind of reality check. Or, you know, I love that.
And Alexandra, I love what you were saying about the the isolation, the potential to seek external validation. I'm reminded of the fact that Liz green in that section I always reference on the astrology of fate in the myths of the Zodiac, she talks about how when we seek the approval of an external authority figure with Saturn in Aries, this is me projecting this part of her section on Saturn in Aries, we will end up often becoming exactly like the figure who should have been granting us dignity without needing us to prove anything.
It's like, you know, the ultimate parental gift is to say, I love you because you exist. You know. Just, it's unconditional love in that sense, right? It's not what you do or we, you know, but, and, and, I guess, you know, parents can only approximate some kind of archetypal ideal like unconditional love.
But when we don't, when we go looking for some form of approval or validation externally, we also run the risk of becoming like the very thing that we felt was withholding, or that that was above us somehow, which, well, you know, we might resent.
It's like, you know, like a lot of athletes are, like, no one said I could do it, so then I went and did it, yeah, well, then you became a jerk. That was the next part of the story.
You get what I'm saying, and I'm not like, like, think about Michael Jordan, like, I love Michael Jordan as an athlete, as a competitor, but it is, like, well documented, that he is also not a very pleasant person.
Now I'm not, I don't know if that's true or not. I'm not judging the person or whatever, but it wouldn't surprise me at all, given that his archetypal journey has been very Aries, like, it's been very Mars, like, I'm gonna beat everyone who told me I couldn't from the time I failed to make the team in ninth grade, or whatever, 10th grade, and then I'm gonna beat everyone.
But then along the way, people said, you know, you proved a lot, you earned a lot below a lot of respect. You also were someone that was really hard to get along with, right?
You kind of became the rejecting figure of the coach that cut you, or whatever. So I think that's the thing we have to be careful of with Saturn and Aries is not coming to like Alexandra said, not seeking some form of external validation or even authority or power, but just trying to relocate it in a more basic sense of selfhood, like I exist, that's powerful, you know, and I have this creative power that comes channeling through me every single day.
It's not mine, but it's powerful, and it's beautiful. And if I can tap into that, and I don't have to go and prove my power or whatever, I'm going to be happier.
I think Saturn like I think, for one example, when Saturn was in Aries, I was in high school. That was the last time, and I had just moved to the suburbs here in Twin Cities from a really small town in more northern Minnesota.
In that small town, I was well established. I had my groups of friends. I was well known. I was sort of semi popular, whatever. And then I moved to a big suburban school, one of the biggest in the state.
I was nobody, nobody knew me, and worse, I started getting bullied. So I remember Saturn moves into Aries. I move into the basement in my house, and then I left high school because they have this thing in Minnesota where you can go to college early.
So I went to college early, left high school and was a total loner, living in my basement, avoiding bullies and going to a community college and getting dual credits and completely isolated.
And it was a really that was a really dark, heavy time. Also during that time, I started studying philosophy, existentialism, you know, mystics, all this different kind of stuff started coming in.
Of course, what was I doing? Smoking pot in my basement. But you know what I mean, like, like, the point is just to really validate Alexandra's perspective that period of time, as isolated as it was, and as much of a loner, and as hurt and broken as I felt, in some ways socially, was also the beginning of where my entire life journey began.
It was such a pioneering space, as much as it was a kind of hard one, you know, gosh,
Alexandra Blair
that's like, you're just speaking into my bones on this one, because my Aries fourth house experience this spring has been stirring up all kinds of like difficult interpersonal, family relationships, and I had this one of my Mercury Neptune downloads on April 16, was looking at my son and just realizing how easy it would be to compensate for my painful family relationships by becoming overly enmeshed in him emotionally and just really losing myself to that love for my son.
And it's I realized in that moment, like how easy that would be, but how that's that's not cycle breaking, that's cycle perpetuating.
And to truly break that cycle, and to truly take that mantle, what is the strongest thing I could do for him, is to remember my individuation, you know and like, ground myself right back in the me.
And so a lot of this airy stuff feels very tied into that new chapter of you know me as a mother with a kid who is way more sentient now and tracking all of my actions and all of the things that I'm doing.
So it deeply resonated for me. Adam,
Adam Elenbaas
for sure, well, it's interesting. We're going to get a little turbo charge on that day. The sun is also trying to Pluto as an aside, right, like just.
What I actually one thing that I feel like, just a sneaky little thing to think about, is that this is where Uranus is heading into Gemini, into a trine with Pluto.
I feel like, as much as we're we have this kind of whole Saturn and Aries dimension to this, that Saturn Neptune contact is going to be happening in very close proximity to Uranus is trine to Pluto.
Um, I don't know. I haven't thought enough about the juxtaposition between those two things to say anything profound yet, but we will be exploring that in the next two months, because Uranus is about to enter Gemini.
So that's just something to think about as well. Is that even though this Trine can just add a little fuel to the fire of Saturn entering Aries and its fall.
You know, it also might be starting to get our mental antennas up for new ideas or different forms of communication or thought that are sparking changes
Whitney Kranz
exactly. And this is so close to where our Gemini New Moon is as well, which is just happening two days later on the 26th then I'm also really seeing all of this as related.
We're going to be feeling the energies together. And I, I am so fascinated at what happens. Like you mentioned, Adam, when Uranus moves into this place and all of those planets are configured, we're talking Pluto, Saturn, Neptune Uranus in these mutual little sextiles.
And, you know, trine to one another. And, it, it's, it's again, this like this, like new vision of the future. But if we're talking specifically about the sun, trining Pluto, in relation to this Gemini New Moon at the same time, it really is, I go back to under a sun, trine Pluto.
Mind opening, expansion of thought, right? It is like Pluto's allegory of the cave and understanding and opening our perception of what reality is. And essentially it's, you know, new new life, regeneration and rebirth, and so all of this happening together, I think, is really, really powerful.
I mean, this new moon is in Mercury's domicile, right? And Mercury has just entered, has just entered Gemini. And so Mercury is at home during this new moon, which is so feels so good, like I told you.
I have been working with the decans a lot lately, and this new moon is happening in the Deccan of Jupiter and the bound of Jupiter. And isn't it interesting that Jupiter is CO present for all of this?
And you know, this is also Jupiter's detriment, though, I have a feeling, as our resident, Gemini, Alexandra, can tell us a lot about what Jupiter in Gemini feels like right now, but this is, this is really bringing up this Like newness of thought and true understanding of duality, and like, Mercury itself is, like adaptable and intelligent and communicative, and even of two ways, like it's, it's really beautiful.
And I'm, I'm excited for this particular illumination. I think out of the two between Scorpio and Gemini, I'll take this Gemini, thank you.
Alexandra Blair
Yeah, I it's reminding me a little bit of all the all the good, juicy Gemini stuff that was happening last June, which Adam you have Mars in Gemini.
So I know you can relate to that, but it was just so fun for Geminis last June, and I was thinking about this one. I'm like, you know, we've kept astrology goth all winter.
Okay? We've had deep existential truth and these bone deep grudges, and we've had all these hauntings like now it's time for the fool and the magician to play patty cake together and have some fun and some childlike wonder.
I'm hoping, that's what I'm hoping for. Yeah, I think with that trine to Pluto and the sextile to Saturn, maybe some insights that really stick or resonate deeply.
But I'm hoping there's, like, some some play involved.
Adam Elenbaas
I love that mercury is protected from the combustion as soon as it. Enters Gemini. It that for people who may not know what that means, when a planet comes close to the sun, typically, it's said to be combust because it's invisible.
It's like its power weakens a little, or its voice gets a little softer, or it goes behind the scenes a little bit more. And when a planet is in its own home sign, and that's happening, it's said to be protected from any damaging effects of combustion, which is, I think, great.
It's also, in my opinion, always easier for a planet in a sign that's problematic when its host is there with it. So, you know, like I may not be the techiest person, but if I'm in a tech store and I'm talking with a really great rep who can really educate me and kind of compensate for my lack of knowledge about technology, I feel great in tech store, but if I'm there by myself, without that person, I don't feel as comfortable knowing what I'm doing or what I'm looking at or, you know, as soon As soon as you get me a good sales associate at tech world, I'm fine.
I feel like it's something like that going on with this lunation, where we start off with a protected mercury. It's going to go through cazimi, by the way, on the 29th kind of last transit of the month.
It's trining Pluto again. Kind of previewing that Uranus Pluto dynamic, the New Moon is trine to Pluto. Basically. That's co present with a benefic and the host is there with it.
Like, what's not to like about this lunation? I feel pretty positive about it, really.
The other thing that I think is interesting is that this Jupiter is also culminating, and within the lunation that starts here within the next full lunar cycle, Jupiter will enter its exaltation.
So there's some carryover here between what's happening in Gemini and what will take place in cancer.
The only other thing I'll say about this really quick, because we've got to go, is that I think, to me, the thing that I like about this, given what might feel like some heaviness with Saturn and Neptune, I want to make sure people don't feel too freaked out by that Saturn's into Aries on the 24th but look at some of the other things happening right this lunation with Jupiter all trine to Pluto, that's Good.
I like to see that because it means that if there are some heavy things happening around Saturn's entrance into Aries, they're being sort of buffeted by some smoother contacts with other heavy planets, like Pluto or even Venus, still in a close Trine ish space with Mars in Aries to Leo so and then Jupiter is going to enter its exaltation.
Of course, we'll get into a really interesting square between Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune in June. But there's an exalted planet immediately contacting a fallen planet like and this is also remember, for a lot of us that dealt with troubles with Mars and cancer, Jupiter entering cancer going into June is going to be like getting a healing, you know, kind of wind of Jupiter gushing through the same space where there might have been some turbulence.
So I like the way that everything's turning this month, even though there's some intensity along the way. It really does feel like a month where we're, for the most part, coming out of the turbulence that was March in April.
Alexandra Blair
Totally agree. Yeah, thanks. I'm excited.
