What happens when the sky begins to rewrite the rules of thought itself? You are living through a rare alignment between Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius—a series of trines that will reshape how you think, connect, and belong. This is not about distant events. This is about the architecture of your own mind, the networks you inhabit, and the quiet revolutions happening beneath the surface of your everyday life.
In this episode, Adam Elenbaas explores the deeper meaning of these five exact trines unfolding over the next three years. He invites you to consider how the element of air—the realm of ideas, language, and technology—meets the underworld of Pluto, demanding that we bring soul and depth to our innovations. What rises must eventually fall. The question is: what are we building, and what are we forgetting?
"Ideas without feeling are brittle. Progress without grounding is hollow. Technology without ecology is dangerous. Whatever rises falls. What is invented above must be reconciled with the earth below."
If you are ready to understand the astrology of this moment as a living conversation between sky and soul, this episode is for you. Subscribe to continue the journey, and explore the resources below to go deeper.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today I'm going to share with you a webinar class that I taught on the topic of Uranus and Pluto getting together in multiple trines over the next couple of years. I gave this class for the first time in the summer of 2025. It was an exclusive webinar that I taught, and occasionally I like to reshare those webinars, just as a gift to all of you, and as a way of maybe promoting and showing you what my webinars are like, so you have a sense of what you're getting into if you come out and attend any of them.
So I'm going to tell you a little bit about the webinar, I'm going to put the Uranus Pluto trine up on the screen, give you the dates, and then I'm going to replay for you this about hour and a half long webinar that I gave. I'm also doing this because I'm in a production space where, because of the retreat to Mexico, I've had some guest teachers this week. Thank you all for being so hospitable with guests that we've had on the channel to help cover me while I've been teaching this retreat in Mexico. Really appreciate it.
Anyway, all that being said, before we get into it, as always, remember to like and subscribe, share your comments and your reflections if you've got them, and also any stories you have about the connection between these planets and how you already see them shaping up, that'd be interesting to hear. You can have transcripts are available for any of these talks. Excuse me, on our website, that's nightlightastrology.com. I want to take you over there. And today, in particular, there's just a couple of things to promote.
The shop page, go to my books course. My new book, The Oracle Speaks, is out once I'm back from vacation, and in a different, you know, production mode resumes as usual. I'm going to be having a book release party. I'll tell you that about that soon, but check it out, pick it up. I'd love for you to read it, and hopefully you could drop me a comment in the comment section. Tell me what chapter and which stories really stood out to you. That'd be really cool to hear from you guys.
Go to the courses page. First year course begins June 28. We're coming up on that really quickly now. Need-based tuition is still available if you need it. Little bit of time yet to join. There's a video at the end of regular content these days telling you more about the course. If you want to learn more about it, and go there, the website. Either way, course every day. There's daily meditation at Nightlight, seven days a week, go to the Daily Community Quiet tab under the Events page. Everything you need to know is there.
So, hopefully, there's some good resources for you now. Today, I'm sharing a webinar with you, and want to show you where you can find webinars in general. Go to the Events page, click on Monthly Webinars. You're going to see that every month I have a new webinar that I teach, one monthly. So, if you like this talk, and you're like, "ooh, that was in-depth, felt more like going to astrology school. Maybe you're looking to complement your studies at Nightlight with more in-depth classes on different topics, or maybe you're not ready for a full-on program, but you like learning a little bit more here and there.
So, these classes might be right for you either way. You'll see the rest of the schedule for 2026 is all mapped out, month at a time. This month we're diving into the ancient philosophical roots of the planet Mars, and with that philosophical understanding of what, not like Mars's anger or Mars's war, but why do what is Mars at its roots as an archetype, as a philosophical first principle. That's on June 25. If you like today's webinar, you might really like all any of our webinars, right. We look at the dark side of astrology in July, malefics, eclipses, and retrogrades, a lot of good things to get into in these series in general. And if you can't attend the live webinar on the date of the class, you get the recording, everybody gets the recording once you register.
So just a little bit there to show you, and check out. I'm going to be replaying a webinar for you today that was called When Uranus trines Pluto, when new objects appear in the sky, and the title of this talk was meant to be evocative of things like aliens, but also things like technology, the sky in ancient astrology is the medium through which the mind expresses ideas, and those ideas convey into reality in terms of concrete forms. So I think you're going to really enjoy this talk, but before I get into it and hand it over to the replay of the webinar, I want to just show you the timeline of these transits.
By the way, isn't can you see Hilda? Look at her, she's just like half in the bed, half out. Alright, anyway, so here we are in the month of June. Today is Friday, June 19, and we have these two planets getting together really shortly now, so their first exact retrograde moment comes just after Mars and Uranus can join, right around July 3 and fourth, and then almost immediately after that, look at what happens, Uranus and Pluto start trining about July 7, the two planets are now in a trine. One another, you can see that right there now.
That trine, if we map it out, we'll go, and I'm going to, I'm going to go day at a time here, just to show you how long it lasts. The two planets at the fourth degree combined all the way until Uranus gets on to the fifth degree in August. Now, at that point in time, they're still less than a degree apart, so that fifth degree, that fourth degree to fourth degree connection, though, is the whole summer. Then we go, and we see the retrogradation of Uranus. Now I'm going to speed this up a little bit, and you're going to see that they're trine reconnects.
The reconnection of their trine occurs in November. Now that trine is going to stay active all the way through December, so we have another month of their connection. Then, with forward motion of Uranus, we're going to see the two planets come together yet again, and this happens as Pluto retrogrades. And now the two planets are going to come together at about the sixth degree, and they do that in June of 2027. So that's multiple trines over the course of a year. That trine between the two planets is then going to recur as Uranus turns retrograde and comes back into the trine with Pluto.
Here we go. So here we're seeing them both at six degrees. This is about January of 2028, and then we're going to see Uranus once again turn direct and trine Pluto one more time. That happens here. We are in about April to May of 2028, and you can keep going like this, so I'm going to actually take this forward one last time through the retrogradation, and you're going to see that they come really close together again one last time. Here we go, so they're about a degree apart by February of 2029, and that's that.
Then they start separating, but that's two at least two years, two and a half years of them being incredibly close together in a trine, that trine and what it promises in two very powerful air signs after the Jupiter Saturn cycles have now reset the next several 100 years, or it's a big long cycle. I can't remember the exact number, but it's a long period of subsequent Jupiter-Saturn cycles in air, and now we have this long period of Pluto and Aquarius in air, seven years of Uranus and Gemini in air. So these recurring trines are really ushering in the age of air, and so that's what this talk is about.
The following webinar you're about to hear is again from last it's summer of 2025 I gave this talk called Uranus, trying to Pluto when new objects appear in the sky. I hope you enjoy it, and that it gives you some insights, and an opportunity maybe to grow in your studies of astrology as well. Anyway, that's it for now. I hope you enjoy it, and we will see you again soon. And again, thank you all for being so hospitable while I've been away with all of the guests we've had on. I really appreciate it. Take it easy. Bye.
So, I've titled this talk, When new objects appear in the sky, and one of the angles that I'm taking in this talk will have to do with the connection between the element of air and water. We're going to look at that elemental connection and what it might mean, given such a powerful trine between two outer planets and air signs. So, anyway, let's get into things. The purpose of this talk is to very basically explore the archetypal significations of this upcoming trine, which will be taking place while Uranus is in Gemini and Pluto is in Aquarius.
The trine begins forming in July of 2025. It perfects for the first time in July of 2026 where the aspect is exact and continues through a series of five exact trines ending in May of 2028. So we have from this summer through basically this time three years from now, and in that range of time, we will get five exact trines. That is impressive. It's my hope that this will just help us to begin the conversation, or to start engaging more consciously with the upcoming contact between these two planets.
And along the way, I always hope that you learn something as a student of astrology about the way in which I build delineations. I try to try to include some kind of craft-based understanding of how I've formed the delineations that we're covering in any given talk, so when constructing a planetary delineation a. Especially by sign rather than locating it in a birth chart, when we're doing mundane forecasting, and we're just saying, what will these three years of Uranus trine Pluto look like? We just begin by unpacking the planets themselves.
Once we understand the archetypes of the planets themselves, then we can add the sign, so once we unpack the meaning of, in this case, Pluto and Uranus, then we can understand how these two planets interact when they're in the signs of Aquarius and Gemini, and I apologize because the graphic here is the wrong planets are are highlighted. I apologize for that. Erica, could you make a note for me on any slides like this, just the number of the slide and the note of what needs to be fixed, so that Bruno can fix it for the replay. You got it. Thank you.
Okay, after we've understood the planet, sort of in a vacuum, then place them in the signs, use the signs to modify the planets, then we consider additional modifiers, such as the modality, like Gemini is mutable, or Aquarius is fixed, or body type, another way of putting it, Gemini is double-bodied, Aquarius is solid. Then we bring all of these things together and examine the themes. We also take into consideration the nature of the aspect, a square, an opposition, a trine. The trine has a particular flavor, we include that too. So that's how we're going to build this delineation tonight.
Let's start. Let's revisit Uranus. Uranus is associated with sudden changes and disruptions, but often changes and disruptions that have a way by means of disruption and sudden unexpected change to bring liberation, revelations, shocks, moments of radical insight, epiphanies, aha moments, lightning strikes of insight. In fact, Uranus is often associated with something like a lightning bolt. Uranus is sometimes associated with the Tower card in tarot, which is like sudden and destructive, but frequently enough when structures are disrupted or suddenly taken apart, there's an evolutionary or spiritual or karmic reason for it.
Maybe that's not available to us in the midst of loss or pain or trauma. Sometimes Uranus is shocking, and we have to process that before we can get to that meaning. So, sometimes that doesn't happen right away, but Uranus is ability to break things up for some larger, greater process of freedom, invention, creativity, originality is why the planet's also known as a revolutionary. So, innovation in technology, or any field, or science, as well as breakthroughs and revolutions within any field, all associated with Uranus, Uranus can be about the revolution of self-insight in a process of psychological or spiritual growth.
It can also be about a moment of insight with respect to something like computing and some breakthrough that leads to a new way of using technology, so the breakthroughs have to be applied in different places, in different fields of life, in different ways. In mythology, Ouranos is the sky god, the of the kind of ruler of the primordial heavens, and it's his castration by Saturn Kronos that marks the beginning of time, and a sort of process of individuation. There's a lot there in the mythology of Aranos, but the connection between heaven and earth is really made by the connection between Ouranos and his castration by Kronos.
His genitals are flung into the sea, from them, you know, comes Aphrodite. It's, it's there's a very beautiful way in which Aranos represents things that are of a higher nature, but that inevitably are brought down or into earth somehow. I need to turn off my Slack notifications. There we go. Sorry, so this, the sense of disruptiveness is kind of baked in. The mythology of our own, us, because our own, us himself is, is sort of suddenly castrated, and then is, but then a create the creative essence of our own, us coming into the ocean and earth leads to Venus and things that are sensual and embodied that somehow reflect the heavenly realm, so the mythology of Aranus is not super accessible when we're thinking about the astrological Uranus, and by the way, there's like a Ranos, but then Uranus, Uranus, you know, Uranus, I guess it's tomato, tomato, but anyhow.
On a psychological level, Uranus tends to challenge the status quo and shake us out of complacent complacency or stuck places, or to provoke a higher level of non-conformity of freedom, or of suddenly being able to consider something from outside of the perspective that we've been enmeshed in. That I mean, think of times in your life where you've had a sudden ability to see something, almost like you were so stuck in it you couldn't see it, then suddenly something breaks you free, and you're able to see it clearly, you interestingly, Uranus, because it can suddenly separate and sever.
There is the Uranus will sometimes be very alienating, I think, of post-ayahuasca experiences coming back to the United States, I felt enlightened and shocked by the amazing vision of a higher psychedelic awareness, or whatever we want to call it, extra dimensional awareness, but I also felt alienated from everyone else, because my perspective had taken me so far out of the a normal framework, and in that normal framework I was already someone who kind of identified with independent music and rock and film, and you know, so now I was like, oh, I'm like, I'm way out in left field, you know.
Not surprisingly, some of those first ayahuasca experiences I had were happening during strong Uranus transits. When Uranus makes aspects in transit in our natal chart, it will often correlate with unexpected events and breakthroughs, but those breakthroughs can at first be shocking and sometimes traumatic and destructive, like the Tower card, but often is followed like the Star card follows the Tower card in tarot, with a sense of what's possible, what's new, what's open, what's available now that something has a former way of life, a former paradigm has been radically disrupted. That's a bit about Uranus. That should be review for most of you.
So, Pluto, on the other hand, represents really the archetype of death, but I want to be clear that within an animistic framework, within an animistic cosmos, death is a living power. It seems weird to say that, but whether you're talking about the the tradition of Buddhism, or you know, Christianity, I mean, the dead, the dead are alive, you know, the dead are among us. Hades is a living realm. It's very important to qualify that, because Pluto brings death, but death has a very fertile place in the ancient Greek imagination.
Hades is a realm that is some ways, in some ways, like the upside-down realm of his brother, Jupiter Zeus, who you know rules from Olympus. There's a very fertile, empowering, rich quality to Pluto that has to do with death, but death as one of the most important living forces in the cycles of the cosmos, where the the true sense of life is cyclical and includes death and so not surprisingly, Pluto will represent all of the projections that death receives, and therefore can feel to us quite ominous and shadowy and evil and demonic, and there's a certain reality to those things, but the more we get to know Pluto, the more we evolve in a kind of felt intimacy with death.
This is why we have things like the, you know, the Day of the Dead, that we have Halloween, that we have Mardi Gras, to a certain extent, it's like there's.. I remember the movie that I showed my kids that I loved, and they've really loved.. they, they watched it so many times, was called Coco. There's a Disney movie about a little kid who goes into the realm of the dead to connect with his ancestors. It's a whole story, so when we think about death, we often think about it in the West in a very subtly, I want to say, like modern Christian perspective.
That perspective says that you only live one life, and at the end you will be judged, and you'll either be damned or you'll go to heaven. In that, in that view of the cosmos, death is final, and death is either damning or you get to live on. So, there's not - it's not a very pleasant role that death plays in that paradigm. This is not the way that the ancient world imagined the realm of death, the presence of the dead ancestrally, the presence of the dead animal in the food that you hunt. There's a very powerful place for death, so we have to remember that when we think of Pluto now, so Uranus brings this sort of shock and sudden insight, but Pluto is this unavoidable, slow burning peer of inevitability.
It is about the inevitability of what lies below the surface, what can't be avoided, what has to undergo processes of death, purification, deconstruction, rebirth. Everything is in that cycle. Here, there's a movie that I love from the 1980s that I watched as a kid called Adventures in Babysitting, and these like white suburban kids are out in this misadventure with their babysitter, and they're on the run because they get tangled up with some car thieves, and they stumble into a blues bar, and the blues bars packed with mostly African American black folks hanging out listening to good blues music and they stumble in and they're like so out of place and the lead singer turns and looks at them and he says ain't nobody leaves this place without singing the blues and then the kids have to sing the blues, and it's a really funny scene, and I always got such a kick out of that.
It is so Plutonian that that space, that embodied Dionysian space, that is connected with ecstasy, that is why we dance under the moonlight and completely lose our minds, and become dismembered in terms of the normal way that we are composed in the daylight world. Pluto is that force that lives in, I think, most indigenous traditions around our planet are way more in touch with that, honoring it, bringing it in, then you know, probably most sort of modern Christian European cultures and peoples, I mean, at least recently, right, there's something so puritanical, so whitewashed that doesn't include this Dionysian Pluto in the modern world, and so without a natural place to live, it does tend to show up in terms of great evil and the shadows of Plutonian suppression or repression and we have no place to dance the death dance, so of course the place that we enact the rituals of death are literalized.
I have to kill this politician I don't like. Here in Minnesota, we just had some politicians that were assassinated, and others, you know, are really injured, and so it's like Pluto, right now, it plays a.. I think it always played an important role as an archetype, but it really. He asks us to be in touch with that which lies beneath the surface, that if we only repress, will feel deconstructive, will feel violent and dangerous. I remember my grandmother, like, total, like, country, you know, sort of white European, waspy Christian, really sweet, like she's the sweetest woman, so maternal, she's a cancer. I was born on her birthday, but I remember playing blues music with my dad on our guitars in front of my grandmother. It made her visibly uncomfortable because those energies threaten something about the the structures of her psyche that that driving deep feeling of ecstasy that's plutonium as well, so what's interesting about these two planets when they come together in any configuration is the way in which the Dionysian becomes liberating, it becomes a liberating force.
Think, for example, of the great conjunction between Uranus and Pluto in the 1960s What a wave of Dionysian power that was released, for example, among the youth, it was not surprisingly taking place in the sign of Virgo, that the young maiden, that's a sign of the initiation from end of summer into autumn, or youth into adulthood, the entrance into the underworld that Virgo represents, about youthful initiations, and then Uranus and Pluto are coming together, providing the summer of love, and psychedelics, and drugs, and free sex, and promiscuity, and hedonism, and all sorts of things that, in their essence, are Dionysian, and probably, you know, some of the richest things that we all need to be in touch with, but coming through, you know, pouring through the and destroying the walls of puritanical repression.
There's some damage done in the process. There's a lot of people who lost their minds, became addicted, many rock stars who completely lost the plot and died from substance abuse. Right, so those powers are they're very intense. That was a conjunction seeding a new cycle. We went through a square between Pluto and Uranus when Uranus was recently in the sign of Aries, and that square I remember coinciding with, for example, one major moment was Occupy Wall Street started coming into contact around the time of the Arab Spring, powerful revolutionary forces that represent a sort of an upsurge of this Dionysian energy that come when these two planets get together.
A lot of us probably aren't thinking about this right now, because a trine in air signs doesn't sound like, you know, the it doesn't sound like the cosmic day of the dead with like a like a sprinkling of like, like revolution or something. It probably, for most of us, feels like, well, AI is really going to advance, you know. And I'm sure it will, but there's a lot more. There's a lot more, so I the hidden wealth of the underworld is a fascinating topic. I highly recommend watching The Hobbit, the movie, or reading the book, or watching the series that came out called The Rings of Power, kind of the sort of precursor to The Lord of the Rings.
There's a really nice way that the dwarves inside of the mountain put us in touch with that realm of hidden wealth that Pluto represents. Pluto means riches, Hades too associated with the underworld, the underworld with great treasure, but a treasure that you have to be very careful about trying to take with you when you leave, most of the time when people are brought dragged into the underworld, they're brought down naked, you know, just like when we die, you don't get to bring anything with you, and for whatever amazing wealth you contact in that underworld, be careful about trying to possess it.
I think personally this is just an aside, something to ponder. James Hillman liked to say. One of the places that psychology has gone wrong is that it has, in trying to get us in touch with the soul, it has created a whole generation of people who are trying to possess the soul. The theme, like the journey of individuation, becomes, How self-possessed am I? And this is like Smog, the dragon in the belly of the mountain, sitting on the gold that's mine. We want to be in touch with the soul, but, like Heraclitus said, let it be explored forever to a depth beyond report.
Well, something about getting in touch with Hades has to do with what we see, what we feel, how it transforms us, what it puts us in touch with, that can be very fertile and empowering, but not something we can try to wield or possess. The wealth that's discovered by the dwarves in The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, these series, the wealth in the mountain is fundamentally connected to the dragon that will come and occupy it, and completely alienating and eliminating all the people who live there. Similarly, in the darkest recesses of the mountain, where the deepest wealth lives, there is also this great demon that Gandalf has to face.
Then it's just a fine line between the empowerment of something, and then trying to get identified with it, or possessed. We get possessed with it because we are identified with it, or try to possess it, do and this is so important when it comes to the realm of Hades, and how it interacts with Uranus, because Uranus is so Promethean. Uranus is like this lightning flash of liberating insight, it's the fire from the gods. Wow, this technology, it's a higher dimension. Yeah, but as that's coming through, and it's contacting Pluto, be careful, because trying to hold or possess this kind of fire can create or attract the dragon, the dark dragon.
There's good dragons too, right? But the dark kind, this liberating moment of technology can get us high, and suddenly we become possessed by something, and rather than us wielding it, it's wielding us, and we don't even recognize it, that you can, you can jump off from that into conversations about AI right now. Already, it's very fascinating to think about that. Anyway, I won't labor that point for now. So, psychologically, Pluto is connected to some of our deepest desires, fears, and the instinctual drives that shape our experience in the world where power, control, survival are all very real aspects of our experience and forces that we contend with, that we work with, that work through us, but again, these, these are forces that to try to pretend they don't exist is probably to become possessed by them through gospels of positivity, and you know, like, no, it, you're, you'll be possessed by it, and probably unconsciously, but trying to wield it is also problematic.
This thing, it's like it's a very powerful force we have to make room for on the altar, so to speak, but make sure that there's a, there's a humble, curious, open, and somewhat distanced relationship in my house I have a way of trying to acknowledge Pluto, just a simple thing that I've done in every house that we've lived in. I have this huge jar filled with coins and trinkets and key chains and weird necklace, all sorts of stuff I've just collected, and I have it in this jar, it's like treasure, and I put the jar in the furnace room, or like the basement, or like the low point, and every time I go in there and I see it, I just have this like moment. Okay, I just recognize Pluto's transits to our birth chart will bring psychological excavation, excuse me, transforming us from the inside out, often through confrontations with these exact forces, yet they also offer the possibility of profound healing, empowerment, and reclamation of the soul.
By reclamation of the soul, the. I mean, that you know, sometimes the Pluto transits take us through almost something like a possession, that state that we get into, and then a kind of exorcism, and I'm using those words just creatively, hopefully they're just evocative, but what I, what I mean by that is, like, for example, like transiting Pluto opposed my son when I joined a Bhakti yoga tradition, took a guru, changed my name, and became, in a sense, completely possessed by a variety of different forces that had their roots in my religious upbringing. Pluto was transiting my ninth house, you know, place of religion, and then I came to realize that there were many valuable things about these experiences, but the way that I had gotten somewhat identified with them was problematic, and then, like I said, a kind of exorcism occurred where I had to say, "Nope, I can't control harness these kinds of things, I'm letting go of this, that was just my own process, but I've seen that probably at least 1000 times in, you know, so many 1000s of readings that I've done where a Plutonian process takes someone through getting obsessive or completely getting identified with their work or with a relationship or going through something where they feel like they've, they've lost the plot, or they're being taken over by something very powerful, only to release themselves from that, and then go on with a healthier relationship to those energies.
That process many people feel is like a death and rebirth, I Now I set the stage with all of this. I kind of, I really wanted to work the archetypes tonight, because now we can talk, I think, more meaningfully about what it might mean that these two planets are connecting in a trine in these two air signs. Let's talk about the element of air and the signs of Gemini in Aquarius, and I'm just going to talk about them in a vacuum for a minute. Both air signs, air signs generally throughout the history of astrology, been related to the mind, communication, ideas, language, relationship exchange, social exchange, but also all of the different ways that we articulate exchanges, ideas, money, technology, communication, etc.
Air was thought of by ancient elemental theorists as light, fast, and movable, changeable air is moving between things, connecting things, transmitting information, facilitating connections and understanding, and often is associated with the unique capacity that human beings have to be rational, so two of the air signs are people in Gemini and Aquarius, and the third is a man-made object, the scales of Libra. In all of these, we have kind of a correlation throughout the history of astrology that air signs are very human, as opposed to say earth signs, water signs, often very instinctual, often very animal-like.
There's many signs that are very animal-like, and we share a lot in common with animals in the ancient astrological imagination. The word zodion, which is where we get the word zodiac from, it has some similar roots with the word zoe, and there's connections with that, and the word zoo, and the animal images of the zodiac imply that the life we live is not just a human life, but an earthly life that is filled with many kinds of beings. The language is helping us approach our place in that sphere, but it doesn't alienate them from it.
Air, on the other hand, could, and I say that just jokingly, but like air is something that tends to operate above the earthly plane, it's moving upward and out of the earth, and so there is a sense that air takes us into what is uniquely human or rational, as opposed to, like, my dog, who is very emotional, very instinctual, very embodied, but you know, can't do Wordle with me in the morning, can't I don't know, she can, she can do a lot of other stuff, but you know what I'm saying. In astrology, air signs are generally concerned with how we make sense out of the world.
How is the world intelligible? How do we analyze, categorize, communicate what we perceive? It's about cognition. It's about objectivity. Although notice that as soon as we talk about objectivity, we also talk about the past. Ability to objectify, and this is going to be one of the shadows that we explore tonight, with these two planets connecting in air signs as well. Now, Gemini and Aquarius both carry intellectual curiosity, a desire to communicate things, a tendency to look for meaning through social connections, through culture, through history, through education, communication, technology systems of information or knowledge, they're both very social in nature, oriented toward networks or collectives of people, or of categories of people or categories of knowledge, and exchanges of knowledge or perspective are frequent and common, just in the way that air is now Gemini, in particular, mutable air, double bodied, ruled by Hermes, Mercury, changeable, flexible, constantly flipping and playing with dualities.
There was an applicant for one of our co-host positions recently, and he said in his audition that I really liked. He said Jim Geminis are they don't get hung up on the second to last bite of a meal. It's like, yeah, it'll end, it's over, something else will happen, something else will begin. Geminis, he said, underrated sign that accepts impermanence. I loved that, that was a really nice point, I that's true. That's part of the duality, right? Gemini is quick, very curious, very nimble, agile, adaptive, thrives on multiplicity, variety, freedom to shift perspectives, kind of a deconstructionist.
I like very much, like to think, when I think of Hermes, I think of the way that can be named is not the way. If you give me certainty, I'm going to give you Socrates, like that. That's not to say that Hermes isn't sacred, spiritual, divine, orienting us toward true Gnosis of God, you know it is, but it does so through in many ways the deconstructive path rather than the Jupiterian constructive path. Gemini linked to Hermes Mercury, often likened to the archetype of the messenger moving fluidly between realms, which, by the way, is important when talking about Hades, because we know that Hermes is unique in his capacity to travel through the underworld and back unscathed and invisible, thanks to the blessing of Hades.
So, Hermes can also speak multiple languages, doesn't see truth as fixed, but fluid and relative as something that is truth to Hermes is like a dialog. Now, psychologically, Gemini will reflect the play of the mind, questioning, naming, translating, defining only to redefine its gifts are adaptability, really quick-witted sense of humor, sometimes gets challenged by being distracted, multiple options, too many things going on, a kind of chaos, an inability to stay committed to things, sometimes those are shadows. Let's talk about Aquarius.
On the other hand, fixed air, solid air ruled by Saturn. Aquarius steady, persistent, but highly abstract and conceptual. As a Saturn-ruled sign, Aquarius has a more structured and far-reaching gravitas to the way that it approaches knowledge, information, intelligence, the mind, rationality. It's more like the celestial engineer of the zodiac, and it's very important to note that Saturn, not Uranus, ruled this sign traditionally. I don't have so much time to get into that, but the difference between Saturn's rulership of Capricorn and Aquarius is really interesting and unique, and what we can say about Saturn is that anything that represents a next possible step toward a higher ideal, in contrast to the status quo, was also thought of as Saturnian.
This is why Jupiter-Saturn cycles coincide with the death of paradigms and the transition across some kind of liminal space where new paradigms start to be conceived based on the events that happen around their hard aspects, sometimes their more, their softer aspects are part of the process too, but anyway, I. So Aquarius really aims to understand larger patterns behind or within things, the way that things work, the architecture, the governing rules, the universal principles. Aquarius is in many ways similar to Uranus, though I don't use Uranus as a ruler of Aquarius, but it's very similar in so far as it represents the urge or impulse to move towards some kind of transcendental ideal.
Saturn in Aquarius was associated with that impulse to move toward the realm of the a day that was said to lay beyond the boundaries of Saturn, that Saturn itself was thought to point to by also bringing us the limits or edge of something's viability, its death. So Aquarius is is a very visionary sign that does bear some resemblance to the planet Uranus, insofar as Uranus is also a visionary idealist, like the fire in the mind of God, that's the a day, those are the archive. So, while Gemini thrives on interaction, and very quick and immediate, Aquarius prefers abstraction, and often long-term bigger visions, projects, systems, paradigm structures.
Now, when the two come together, it's pretty interesting. The trine is really nice between them. They can do a lot of things for each other that become really interesting. I'll say more about that in a second. I think one thing that's worth saying is that the fixity of Aquarius can also make, make it rigid, alienated, dissociated from the body, sort of aloof, and even for as progressive and visionary as Aquarius can be, it can be intensely zealous and dogmatic, and sort of dissociated. Those are the shadows, just like Gemini has its shadows now, psychologically, Aquarius will often speak to the need for individuality within the collective to stand apart to rebel from the status quo, typically because there is some vision or sense of a higher potential or a different potential than what is, and that can go in many different directions.
That doesn't necessarily mean that the vision of what's better or next is truly progressive or moral. Even you know, there's many people that I consider, you know, like super villains in the, in the story of planet Earth that have had a lot of Aquarian energy in their charts, so it can be very relative the way this plays out psychologically, but what's interesting, ironically, is that Aquarius can also speak to the exact opposite tendency toward ideological identification or conformity, where individual uniqueness is sort of drowned out because it's preferable to identify who you are along ideological lines rather than truly personal or existential lines, so the tension in Aquarius is almost built in.
How do I stand apart from the group because of different ideas or paradigms or structures of thought that are guiding me toward a different view of what human life could or should look like. I listen to indie rock. I don't listen to, you know, what the record labels are trying to sell me on the radio, along with Mountain Dew. You know, I listen to the replacements, you know, it's like that. So, there's the way that individuality is brought through Aquarius is still typically in terms of oppositional tensions with something status quo versus something alternative.
The problem with that is that obviously opposite the sign of Leo, the sun sign, true uniqueness is in some ways something that we discover and get in touch with, that it may be in part has to do with categories of identity or ideological lines of identity, but there's some, there's only so far that can take us before ironically we're, we're still in, we're still in a polarizing game of us versus them, or in versus out, or cool versus uncool, or progressive versus regressive, or, and insofar as we say stuck in those lines, there's something that's persistent about the issue of social identity and conformity, where true individuality needs us to break from all of it on some level.
That doesn't mean that we don't end up participating in in socials and collectives and ideologies, but there's most of us. Have been through this. I know I'm preaching to the choir, right? I was like, most of us have been through something where we go, I just don't identify with any of it. I don't like, there's a part of me that might be identified a little bit with this or that category, and you know, this has been important for this, but I'm an astrologer, that's kind of important. You know, I'm a yogi, that's kind of important to drink ayahuasca, I'm a dad, I'm a white Midwestern male, like all these things are real, but the some of the most profound experiences I've had have been have taken me into something about me that is beyond all those things, that's been before those things that will be after, though all those things fall off after this body dies.
Aquarius sometimes misses that perspective because it's so socially enmeshed. All right, what happens when we put Uranus and Pluto together? When they form an aspect, we will often witness a clash and a fusion, and they're both very powerful archetypes. So, Uranus, Liberator, Awakener, Pluto, the living force of death, rebirth, intensity, depth. Together they tend to generate revolutionary energy that is also deep, somewhat intense, dark, disruptive, revolutionary, awakening, empowering, possessive. It's very, they're very intense together.
Most of Cosmos and Psyche, the great book that was written by Richard Tarnas, that's like one of the greatest modern works of astrology on a terms of a text, most of that book is spent talking about, in my opinion, like the most memorable part of it is him talking about Pluto, Uranus. So, when Uranus and Pluto cyclically align, and this is part of their cycle, this trine is a part of a cycle that is a continuation of the beginnings that they had in the I won't go into the whole cycle, I'll probably eventually do that on my YouTube channel, but these alignments coincide, no matter what type of aspect they are, with periods of systemic upheaval, breakthroughs in science and technology intensified struggles around power and freedom, moments of irreversible cultural, political, psychological transformation.
They are major flash points for unleashing of Dionysian destructive and revolutionary impulses. Now think again of the 60s, the civil rights, counterculture, technological establish, acceleration, anti-establishment, rebellion - all bore the signature of Uranus, Pluto. Now, when they're trying to one another, which is what we're going to get in five times over the next three years. The energies will harmonize much better than a conjunction or a square. So that's one silver lining here is that we should see these two energies working together with greater flow with less Mars.
Mars qualities in a square, for example, the seeding of a new cycle that can be so powerful and overwhelming in a conjunction. A trine suggests a time of rapid development, building momentum, building consensus, developing these energies together, sort of fluidly, so you're not going to see that immediate intensified rupture points, like a square, an opposition, or even a conjunction. There will be a more constructive synergy that is more also more gradual than it is violent, because of the trine being more fluid and flowing, now we do have a Saturn Neptune conjunction that's a co-present, right, so we have to remember there is another signature in the sky that could speak to a much more turbulent quality, but in terms of the trine alone I see this as very gradual flowing and harmonious than other Pluto, Uranus contacts.
I would see this as potent restructurings of mental, social, and technological landscapes as the primary themes that Pluto and Uranus will touch on. Mental, social, technological really speaks to the air, the restructuring speaks to the upheaval qualities that Pluto brings, the death and rebirth, as well as the rapid acceleration and revolutionary impulses of Uranus. Trines also imply collaboration as. Though each planet is sort of inflecting upon the other to help it, so in this upcoming trine, Uranus and Pluto expressing through Gemini and Aquarius the major domains that we'll see both transformation, upheaval, revolution in will be ideas, information, networks, communication systems, language, social structures, and in how we think about thinking, how we learn, education, our understanding of the brain, or our understanding of the mind, and things like beliefs themselves can be almost like a meta level of change that's happening during this trine.
I think the next couple of years are going to teach us quite a bit about the way we think, the way we process information, mental and emotional health. Even I'll say more about that in a little bit, I When we think about the meeting of Aquarius and Gemini, another way of thinking about it is that there's mutability and there's fixity, there's Mercury, Mercury and Saturn, there's something more local in Gemini and there's something more global in Aquarius, there can be rapid information exchange, multiplicity, and decentralized knowledge, all hallmarks of Gemini. While Aquarius can bring ideological coherent systems thinking, structuring of collective ideas into paradigms or information systems, so together there's this dialectic that I think is going to take place between mental energies and their fluidity and their fixity, freedom and structure, invention and integration into form.
These things will happen so quickly with in three years and trines where the flow can be so smooth, the disruptions create change, but often there's just such a fallout that has to happen first, whereas the trine has the power to create this dialectic and move things very quickly. Uranus and Gemini can spark a lot of changes in how we learn, communicate, think, and move between realms, digital, physical. I was just, just recently, again, same audition that I was thinking of, where this fellow was breaking down Uranus and Gemini, and he was talking, I believe this was him. I've heard a lot of auditions lately.
Anyway, he was talking about how there's.. I wanted to say it was a quadriplegic, but they have chips that they're putting into people's foreheads or brains or something that allows them to operate a computer, so even if they're paralyzed, they can do, they can, they can work on stuff, or you know, have access to, you know, technology like that. Is just, I mean, just, I just, as a kid, I had it, was I couldn't have even imagined like DVD players and cell phones, you know, so it's, it's pretty wild to see some of this stuff that doesn't necessarily mean that all of these things will be good things either, but we'll see new languages, new platforms, new computing, new technologies that change how we relate to information itself.
Now, on the other hand, Pluto and Aquarius suggests deeper, like larger scale transformation of social systems, culture, networks of people, and massive technological power structures. It is not surprising to me, as Pluto has gone into Aquarius, that the people, some of the people who have an enormous amount of power, are also the wealthy owners of technology. This kind of plutocrats that are Aquarian is a real thing, and you know, there could be powerful people who bring that Aquarian impulse of change and release tremendous healing power into the world through technology and through some kind of technological philanthropy of the life to be optimistic about that, the shadow is, are we trying to possess this power?
There's where there is new technologies, there's new gold in the mountain, there might be a dragon there, that's Pluto and Aquarius, I. There's a very intense pressure that Pluto in Aquarius places on us to start reflecting more deeply on how we are identifying ourselves socially and collectively. It also brings up competing notions of what human potential is and what progress looks like, and it may force us to look at the unconscious motivations or shadows that are associated with any ideas of progress for humanity. I am admittedly not the world's biggest Elon Musk fan. I'll just say that, but God bless anyone who feels differently.
So one thing that I remember is just like I don't remember where I heard him talking about sending people to Mars, and I'll never forget Ashley, who was just like listening to this, and I had it was on my phone or something, and she was like, she was so annoyed because she's a very earthy person, and she was like, why don't we try to, you know, spend a little bit more time healing our ecosystems trying to go to Mars, and I laughed really hard, because first of all, there's just like, so my double Taurus wife to say that she's got a couple planets in Aries too, so she'd be real fiery, but then I was thinking about it a lot when I was thinking about my first talks that I ever did on Pluto and Aquarius, because Uranus will push for innovation technologically in an air sign very quickly and will innovate lightning speed the next seven years.
I think we will see a rapid period of innovation and progress technologically, scientifically, intellectually. I don't doubt that at all with Uranus and Aquarius. What I, what I really worry about is the plutonium shadows and the sort of Promethean hubris of trying to push forward without a connection to the earth, to the feminine, to the embodied, to the world that we live in, and I don't say I really am one of the reasons I'm very careful to talk about any of these things from a position of authority is, or you know, because I'm, I'm, I don't want to be self-righteous. I'm, I'm no example of a human being. I'm just a human being. I'm, I'm no better than anyone else.
But this, these things concern me. I'm sure I'm not alone in that, I I think it's possible that we see something like new mental ecosystems, and I think one of the great possibilities for new mental or intellectual ecosystems is the role that astrology could play. Astrology as a celestial psychedelic-like language of patterns, points us toward a different kind of epistemology. It's more like the intelligence of music and poetry and art, which no one questions the validity of as something that has the power to speak and move us music predicts music is prophetic, music is divinatory, music is oracular, and it always has been like that.
Everybody knows that, for some reason, we have a harder problem with astrology because it bears such a close resemblance, though it is not the same as empiricism, empirical science. I wonder if something that could happen with these two planets combining over the next few years would be the way that we think about astrology itself. It's like, oh, there's, yeah, there's just different ways of knowing. What does it look like to think about astrology from the standpoint of a living cosmic, like, if what if this is just a living cosmic animal, and we're all part of it, there's no way of getting outside it objectively, just like you can't, you can't crawl out of your own body while you're in it, you just got to be in it.
If that was the case, then we would have a completely different way of thinking about what truth is. These are the kinds of things that I get excited about when I think about Uranus and Pluto connecting in these air signs, new ways of thinking about thinking, new ways of thinking about truth, new ways of thinking about epistemology. How do we know what is true? How does, how does something have truth telling or truth giving power? So, finally, I think this is the place where I've had my most original thinking. Everything I've said up to now, I feel like probably. Probably a lot of you have had little thoughts about yourself.
This is what I like to think of as my most creative part of this talk. So, in ancient elemental theory, air and water were seen as natural opposites, air associated with intellect, language, thought, even spirit on a certain level, something a little bit more ethereal, water to emotion, intuition, instinct, the unconscious embodied life. Air rises up, water goes down, air moves freely and lightly, whereas water gathers, sinks, and saturates. But the relationship between air and water was never strictly antagonistic ancients observed that air behaves like an invisible form of water, a vaporous presence that condenses into clouds, fog, storm, and will rain down to earth.
So, in this sense, the sky and the water of earth are intimately related. The water is pulled up into the sky, and then falls down to earth. This was thought of as like a moving circle or cycle between water and air. When we bring this understanding into the trine between these two planets and air signs, I think a deeper kind of reflection can emerge, because ancient people would never have thought of a predominance of one element in terms of there just being no presence of another or opposite element, like sometimes people go, "Oh, I have no water in my chart, I've got only air. I'm like, "Well, your relation, the relationship between air and water is fundamental, fluid, and constant, and so having a lot of air just means that you're, you're seeing highlighted a particular part of the dynamic between air and water, but that dynamic doesn't mean that you, you, you're lacking something.
So, in other words, just because these two planets are in air signs doesn't mean that there is not a very fundamental way in which they will be connected to water, that's elemental thinking in ancient astrology, that I feel like it's been a real breakthrough for me recently, in the way that I'm starting to see things. So, there's this deeper reflection that emerges. How will these mental, social, technological, ideological, systematic revolutions, upheavals, changes move from air and then rain back down to the realm of earth and water into body environment and the living, breathing sensual soul, the embodied life of earth.
Now these are just ideas about how that could happen. In other words, it is inevitable that so much happening in the air will lead to condensation and rain. So, what we're doing is not - this is not a radical leap within ancient elemental theory to say that so much air will lead to water. What does that look like I will say this one thing that I find fascinating. Right off the top was hosting a live panel recently on Saturn, Neptune, and we were talking about technology, and someone was saying that there's some of these AI servers, or I don't know exactly what it was, so something to do with AI is requiring a lot of water, that's really interesting.
I don't, I don't know much about this. I don't even know, like, how true this is, or to what extent. But it was the idea that someone, one of the panelists, brought forth was that there could be environmental costs to AI. Yes, that's what we're talking about, that's air and water. If that were true, and I haven't done enough research to know that that's a thing or not, but I think it is anyway. What about technological advancement and ecological cost? See, when air gets to a place of condensation, it rains to earth, and then there's either an earthy consequence or an earthy creative compliment.
So, if there's so much digital technological innovation, are there hidden environmental costs? To me, that is a great risk of the next years ahead, but also the span of Pluto and Aquarius in general. Artificial intelligence is talked about as cloud-based mental and consumes enormous amounts of electricity and water to operate data centers and cool servers. Now that is what I heard, so I included it again. I haven't done a ton of research to know, like, to what extent that's happening, but yeah. So, what does it mean that we're building new objects in the sky, the airy plane at the expense of Earth's most essential elements.
How will these innovations have a way of condensing and falling down to Earth? What could that happen in the form of ecological reckoning, resource depletion, or some need to rebalance demand? Hands of the natural world, that is a real shadow. I think now I think another shadow would be that air opposite water having a way of falling back down to earth can be about the consequences of dissociation if the collective psyche becomes increasingly digitized, algorithmic, mediated by screens, as we already know. We risk losing touch with the felt experience of being human.
What are the consequences of that over the whole lifespan of Pluto and Aquarius? What to speak of the way that that could be exacerbated in the fast, rapid action of this trine over the next three years. How will there be massive emotional storms? What is an emotional storm that rains back down to earth in an air period like this? Honestly, I could see it as rising epidemics that are associated with dissociation. Let me give you a few that come to my mind, and I don't mean to be ominous. I think these are real things that we should consider, and I have some very positive things to say too.
So, don't you know, don't don't worry about that. Well, let's say that we're becoming more and more dissociated through addictive activities on our phones, addiction begets addiction. We know that from all of the research that's been done into the chemistry of addiction in the brain. In other words, one addictive habit is often complemented by a web of addictive habits that co-regulate and support one another. Addiction on the phone can lead to a much easier tendency to lose executive functioning, meaning the ability to make healthy decisions when it comes to something like food.
We're being bombarded in the media that we're addicted to by the advertising of ultra-processed foods and the ultra-processed foods, unregulated, are being filled with addictive chemicals. One dissociated addictive state can lead to another, which is to become more dissociated from the actual nutrition that food is supposed to provide. Instead, we're consuming chemicals, and what does that lead to rises in all sorts of health epidemics, which were, we have enough information now to know, is like, a these are real things, these are real epidemics that are happening, so those are all things that could come, or how about depression, or anxiety, or social anxiety, right, all different kinds of things that can come because of dissociation from the felt realm that can show up as mental and emotional dysregulation, disorder, dysfunction, disease, whatever we want to call it.
The air aspires upward, it really at its best is like it takes us into the stars, which is why I think this is our great transits for actually for astrology in many ways, and I do think that things like space travel, encounters with alien life, discovery of alien life, maybe actual contact with other species has already happened, maybe we become more aware of it. Who knows? I think those are all really exciting things that could really fundamentally change how we think of ourselves in the universe, providing us with serious intellectual and spiritual revolution. But again, if air rains down back to earth, what becomes of the earth, if our gaze is always upward.
I think what's interesting is how closely and sort of unconsciously, you know, the interest in aliens is with the tendency to alienate ourselves. It's as though a feeling of alienation from the earth leads to an obsession with aliens, like they're not unrelated phenomenon. Right now, we are becoming more alien to the earth in all of these technological digital forms of exchange communication, and so, not surprisingly, aliens are visiting us. These are in some ways projections of what we're becoming. Right, I'm not. I don't know if that's good or bad. I have no idea. I'm just noting the connection.
But what's the consequence if we lose touch with Earth? How will these dreams of rising up into, you know, galactic civilization? civilizations meeting other species. How, I mean, how do some of these upward dreams rain back down to earth? Is again the question that comes to my mind. I think a lot about the way that labor and effort means so much to us and. And how taking that away through advances in technology could be a weirdly problematic thing, we always, we think of how beneficial it is to save time, and I'll tell you, I'll be the first to tell you, I have a few ways that I've been using Chat GPT since it came out that have saved me an enormous amount of time, I'm not even gonna lie about that, but I do wonder, How far does it go before there's no need to exert effort to try to practice to learn to, you know, like I think we're probably a ways away from like completely eliminating that or something extreme, but as we delegate more work out what is lost in the process, because one of the things that's so beautiful about dreaming prior to, let's say, you know, all of this intensified technology is that a dream, an idea, a wish, a hope, a plan, a fire and air comes down to earth, and then earth and water, we have it has to coagulate, it has to come into form.
There's effort, you've got to clear your field, plow it, plant it, grow it, harvest it, though that connection to an earthy process of gestation, where blood, sweat, tears, sacrifice is part of the mechanism of creation on earth, it always has been. It's like the circle of life in The Lion King. If that's being bypassed, what do we lose psychologically? What does our soul lose from that? I think it's possible that further detachment from labor, work, and effort. While there's obviously some uses that could greatly alleviate suffering, you know, I'm open to that, sort of alleviated some of my own, to be honest.
But alienation, depression, authentic human experience, you can't simulate that, you can't outsource it, you can't delegate it, you know. There could be at some point a machine that I walk into that, in 15 minutes, stimulates my muscles in a way that creates the muscular growth that a week of working out achieves. You know what I mean. And there's part of me be like, 'Wow, that'd be great. You know, then there's another part of me that's like, but what would I lose from the exertion mentally, emotionally? What would I lose from observing that process in a slower way that requires, like, a user, a relationship - it's animistic.
I have a relationship with the weights, I have a relationship with the muscles, I So, anyway, in all these reflections, air and water need each other, that's the point. Ideas without feeling brittle, progress without grounding, hollow technology without ecology, dangerous. I think the promise of Uranus, Pluto is let's soar, let's create new possibilities socially, intellectually, but whatever rises falls. That's a Taoist teaching, that's an elemental teaching from ancient astrology. What is invented above has to be reconciled with the earth below, and I will also add that Pluto has no tolerance for anti-Earth bullshit, so even though Pluto and Uranus do all of this crazy stuff together that we've been talking about, Pluto is super Dionysian and elemental, and like earthy, it's, it's, it, it's, it's domain is like gritty, and so Pluto in an air sign will not allow us to evade or escape that grit, but that grit will kind of strangely come through, come through the air, I think, for example, during the 1940s when Uranus was in Gemini, one of the most rapid advancements of clinical psychology happened that would lead to really the establishment of psychology as a credible academic institution.
Similarly, we very rapidly advanced an understanding of post-traumatic stress syndrome from war vets that were coming home, that's really promising. Where a rapid deepening of our understanding of think, for example, I just read this amazing book on the on the way in which the food industry is really allowed to saturate ultra-processed foods with addictive chemicals, and it was very affirming for the challenges of my own, like mental and physical health, over the past years, because I've done a lot to really work on nutrition in my life, um. But one of the things that the book said was that there was this revolutionary moment where the collective came together to understand that cigarettes were a problem, there was widespread addiction, widespread death, the chemicals were toxic, and the advertising needed to be held accountable, the marketing, the prices, there was a political effort to make these killing substances more known for what they were, and it could be that Uranus and Pluto in air signs bring convey similar understanding about systems like our food system, you know, it's unfair to ask people.
This book was saying, and I really appreciate it. It's unfair to ask people to try to stand up against a social environment that is completely saturated with addictive foods and cues and reminders and advertisements and coercion to take chemicals that are addictive into our bodies, like for example, that would be like telling an alcoholic to try to stay, remain sober, and participate in recovery while making them live in a bar, you know, it's like, but that's kind of what we're up against right now, as consumers in an unregulated market, where tons of poisonous food is allowed to be sold to us constantly. I wouldn't be surprised if Uranus and Pluto, in their trine over the next years, brought more rapid awareness of things that are like greater understanding, because that's one of the hallmarks of Uranus in Gemini.
Think again, think of the 40s, rapid understanding of mental and emotional health was really the advent of the legitimization of psychology as a field, so the air and water can be connected in ways that are really profound. Let's understand the body, let's understand addiction, let's understand trauma, let's understand all of these things, and what our environment is doing to help or harm one another. You know, and those kinds of social changes and enlightenment is something I'm really excited about, and I'm on a soapbox, because I just read this book, right? So, don't, if that doesn't appeal to you, you know, please don't. I don't mean to preach, but you get what I'm saying.
Anyway, air and water need each other. Let's go. Oh, you know what, I think this is just a repeat. I think we accidentally just, yeah, so some promising syntheses could take place. Some of them already emerging ecological technologies, so are there healing regener is a regenerative agriculture, green energy innovations, biomimicry, and design rather than dominate nature, mind can work with water to create systems that honor the intelligence of ecosystems. In fact, I think a lot of, oh, what was his name? I think it was Buckminster Fuller. I believe that's the name of the person I'm thinking of. His designs mimicked nature.
In there's a lot of promise, in this being a period that doesn't have to be dissociated, mind body awareness. I believe there's great promise for things like yoga, astrology, mind body technologies that allow us to have new or different ways of seeing or understanding ourselves, psychosomatic understanding, technology, and well-being advancements in medicine that are truly holistic. I'm super excited about the possibility of those kinds of things. What, what if we developed more super deep, thorough understanding of what screen time does to kids, or of EMFs, or AI content exposure, or tech's role in childhood development, and how to time out the exposure to different kinds of technologies, like my wife and I attended a parents group at our kids' school, where we all read a book about children and technology together, and discussed as parents, like, how do we, what's the right time they're going to need to know about these things that have a job, but we also want to keep and protect them from this monster.
Like, what? Ah, what do you do? You know, advancement in mental health, new therapeutic tools, new modalities. Could is there some way that AI can assist in therapy again, referring to one of the auditions, someone was saying that they've had conversations with AI that have helped them sort out things that they've been processing. I find that really kind of sweet. In fact, one of the things that I've done is occasionally. I'll get a really difficult email from a client, and I will, I will ask AI to proofread my response and say, does this sound like I've striked the right balance of like kind but boundary setting, or whatever, that can be helpful to there's like psychological maybe components to this stuff that's useful anyway, destigmatizing mental illness, improving access to care, new social narratives around healing and integration.
Think of it like this, right now, one of the things that exists in this book was talking about this as like one of the antidotes to dealing with the obesity epidemic, body positivity, it doesn't help anything if we're trying to overcome issues in our diet or food or health, if we're body shaming, or if we're not loving ourselves for however we look right, so what does something like body positivity and a positive affirming approach to dietary change look like, as opposed to like this book went to great lengths to say, like one of the things that's really not working is telling people who are being bombarded by an addictive food environment with all these chemicals and very little education available, and telling them, well, you just either you either succumb to it because you're lazy and have no willpower, right, or the opposite extreme, just ignore it's there and tell yourself that you look beautiful, no matter what, like somewhere in the middle these things have to come together.
I really like the possibility of greater understanding leading to more compassionate and intelligent approaches. How does positivity and knowledge go together? Right, those are good questions to ask. It's like my dog trainer that we've used to help work with our dogs, and we're training them. He always says it's the training techniques, and the kind of like the science, along with a really positive attitude. It's like emotional and smart, you know. We can be both, so technologies that actually encourage connection rather than addiction, presence rather than distraction, agency rather than total dependency. These are the things that I like.
I also love the idea that we can experience something like a re-enchantment of the mind, a new mythos, the left and right brain connecting science and spirit. This is why I'm so excited for astrology, because astrology really is where reason and logic and patterns and behavior and psychology, and some of our deepest existential questions connect with things like myth and poetry and music and beauty. Right? I mean, this is a beautiful language that's so smart. What would a return to, you know, like sort of like a return to the stars look like? Well, that is my presentation.
Hey everyone, thanks for sticking around. I'm excited to tell you about our upcoming program, Ancient Astrology for the Modern Mystic. This is our first year class in Ancient Hellenistic Astrology, and it begins again in June. I'm going to tell you about this program, all that it includes, so you know exactly what to expect if you decide to come and study with us. I want to start by talking a little bit about how you know if it's the right time to study astrology or not, which is a question I get asked all the time.
First of all, I would say that the way that you know you're ready to study astrology at a deeper level and take a more serious class is that it doesn't just feel like curiosity any longer, it feels like something that you can't stop thinking about, or a way of seeing the world and viewing your experiences that you constantly think about, or almost like a filter that you experience life through. If you are often thinking about fate and free will, purpose, meaning, if you tend to see and understand and experience symbolism in everyday events all of the time, these are some of the key things that I've noticed generally start happening for people when they might be ready to study astrology more seriously.
Some people don't just like astrology. There's a call to study it. There's a call for it to be a primary spiritual form of practice, or maybe even professional practice. I want to talk about who this is right for people who want to go deeper, you know, not just memes, not just horoscopes, not just taking in content passively, but for people who love symbolism, who love myth, who love divination, who want a structured path with a stable lineage. Lots of students and people have come through our programs. Our programs have helped build many professional careers at this point in the larger field of astrology, and if you feel a little bit overwhelmed with trying to weed or sort through all of the information that's out there.
On your own, beginners are absolutely welcome in this program with no prior experience, because we start from the ground up. At the same time, people who already have a background and are more intermediate or advanced, but have not yet gone through a structured study of ancient Hellenistic astrology, ancient philosophy, and the ancient practices and techniques of this craft, you're going to be starting in the same place, in a way that beginners are at, your background in astrology will help you tremendously, but this is a program that is ideally for total beginners or people who are new to Hellenistic astrology and have never gotten that traditional background.
I want to talk about what you're going to learn in the program. You're going to learn the foundations of ancient traditional astrology, starting with some history, some basic astronomy and philosophy to help you really understand what is karma, what is fate, what is destiny, what is divination, what is the epistemological mode of understanding that ancient people were living in. They were living, for example, in an animistic sense of the cosmos that they thought spoke through the oracle of the planets and stars. What does that mean for us today? Where does the study of fate, destiny, karma, the evolution of the soul, play into all of this transmigration, reincarnation.
We really try to set a strong philosophical foundation, and from there we move through the primary components of the language, planets, signs, houses, and then the different ways in which those features interact with each other through things like aspects, dignity, accidental and essential dignity, and then we start tying things together through interpretive methodology. All of this is something that, if you have a background in modern astrology, that'll help you, but this is also a whole nother level of seriousness and specific craft-based ideas that are unique to Hellenistic astrology.
Everything we do at Nightlight incorporates a modern psychological and archetypal perspective, and my background is also in modern evolutionary astrology, and I have a background in Indian philosophy and yoga. So, you're going to find that there's a little bit of a cauldron of different spiritual and philosophical backgrounds that are present, even though our main focus is Hellenistic. You're going to learn about ancient techniques, but you're also going to learn how to apply them in the modern world we live in today. How does the course work logistically? Let's talk about that for a second.
It's a year-long container. There are live classes, there are also recordings, so if you can't make it live, you can follow along with anything at your own pace. In fact, you have a couple of years in which to work before you would have to submit an exam, and the exam itself is optional only for people who are seeking certification because you're interested in practicing professionally, we have discussion forums, discussion in and outside of class year round. We have tutors on staff who also lead breakout sessions for review in between our major units of study.
So, there's 30 classes on the year, and then there's about six breakout study sessions, give or take, and those study sessions, sessions are there to help complement the work we do in class. You can go at your own pace. Toward the end of the program, we have a lot of practice sessions that are meant to work through charts together, and that also feature live readings with real clients, so you can see what a day in the life of practice looks like for me as a practitioner, and see all the things we're studying applied with real people in a real live setting.
I, the thing to me that's most important is, why study here, right? Why study with me and our staff? It has to do with fit. If you love this channel, if you love the way I teach and talk about astrology, then you're probably going to really love studying with us. The people that I've selected to be a part of my staff are people whose spiritual lifestyle and values are similar to my own, who were standout students in understanding the way that I taught and worked with the material myself in practice, and who are competent astrologers working with other people.
I've been practicing for 16 years full time. I've seen over 13,000 clients, and I have led four to 5000 students. Now, at this point, through our programs, my approach is rooted in ancient Hellenistic traditional techniques, but it has a real - there's a real spiritual, ecumenical vibe at Nightlight that's really open to a lot of different traditions, and that also allows you to make your own practice and build your own meaning out of the content that we provide you with. The practical application is that you're going to have a tool that helps you navigate your life spiritually, philosophically, a practical tool that you can use for yourself, family, people you care about for the rest of your life.
At the same time, you may find, whether it's your intention or not, that you're also ready to practice for other people. Many people come through our programs and are able to practice part-time to full-time astrology. To me, the big takeaway from this is not just the learning, not just the prep for potential professional practice, but because you are going to feel confident reading charts, you're going to have a deeper understanding of the cycles of your own life and working with astrology in your own life, but most profoundly, people tend to come out of this program feeling spiritually transformed, feeling healed, feeling like they have a spiritual path in life that will last them for the rest of their lives.
When astrology becomes a daily living spiritual practice, then you know that you've really, really learned something that way, the way that astrology is always intended to be learned, which is to accompany you as a spiritual path in life. This is absolutely huge, and this is to me the biggest payoff of studying at Nightlight, is that you're being, you're grounded in a tradition and a lineage that for teachers that I had, we see as strong as a technical predictive practice, but as a counseling tool and as a way of living a spiritual path, so if. You want to enroll.
