Uranus Trine Pluto: The Outsider’s Breakthrough

Maybe you were there too, but in the meantime, we are here today to talk about Uranus trine Pluto coming in on July 17, and I'm super excited to get into this with you.

But yeah, I don't sleep on the workshops, is the long story short. Okay, so Nightlight astrology.com for all of that. All right, now, as I said, we're talking about Uranus trine Pluto. This is coming in at four degrees of Pluto and Aquarius. Let me go ahead and share my screen with you guys. All right, so as you can see, July 17, maybe 18th, depending on where you are in the world, but it's coming in at four degrees and 29 arc minutes of Aquarius and Gemini. So we have an air trine between these big heavy hitters, and this is the first of five exact passes through May 2028.

Let's just put that up and show you here. So, our next one is going to be November 29 and for that one, we're looking at about three degrees. The next one is June 15, 2027 For that one, we're about six degrees. Then January 13, 2028 we're at six degrees there, and then May 9, 2028 we are at eight degrees, and that is all we get until the closing trine of 2063. So we are focused specifically on this trine coming through in the next month, but I want to actually zoom out and do a bit of a bigger picture on this, because this is an important moment.

It's a rare multi-year window that only comes around once every 100 years or so. And so, what we're going to do is zoom out. We're going to read a bit from Cosmos and Psyche. I'm going to pull from a very well-researched article by Jessica Davidson. If you want to learn more, by the way, about the history and the mundane astrology associated with the Uranus-Pluto cycle, I cannot recommend Cosmos and Psyche enough, as well as Jessica Davidson's blog. Jessica Davidson is an incredible astrologer and researcher, and I learned so much from her work, so if you just Google Jessica Davidson, Uranus, Pluto, I think you'll find a wealth of information that way as well.

So I'm going to cover that at a very high level, but then we're going to go into the significations of each planet. We're going to talk about the decans as well today. If you caught my weekend wisdom this past Saturday we looked at Jupiter opposite Pluto through the lens of the decans. We're going to bring that in here as well, and I'll talk more about why when we get to that point. And then three things that you can watch for on a personal level. Okay, so let's talk about the historical and cyclical importance of Uranus Pluto. So Uranus Pluto is a 127 ish year cycle, but it can range, according to Tarnas, anywhere from 113 to 141 years, because Pluto's orbit is a bit eccentric.

The cycle moves through the same phases any cycle does, it's got a conjunction, an opening square, the trine, of course, the sextile. I didn't say, but obviously the planet sextile, the opposition, and then we do it all again in the closing loop. So, just like any planetary cycle, Uranus and Pluto has one too. So I want to read a bit from Tarnas here because. Because he's talking in the chapter about what's specifically the chapter called the From the French Revolution to the 1960s and he's talking about how when he started to research just how historical events were corresponding with astrological alignments one of the first things he noticed and was really struck by was what was going on in the 1960s and so he says, by all accounts, the 60s were an extraordinary era, intense, problematic, and seminal.

The entire decade seems to have been animated by a peculiar, peculiarly vivid and compelling spirit, something, quote, in the air, an elemental force apparent to all at the time that was not present in such a tangible manner, manner, excuse me, during the immediately preceding or subsequent decades, and that in retrospect still sets the era apart as a phenomenon unique in recent memory. Early in the course of my research, I noticed that during the entire period of this decade, specifically from 1960 to 1972 there took place a conjunction of two outer planets, Uranus and Pluto, that occurs relatively rarely. Indeed, this was the only conjunction of these planets in the entire 20th century. So, the '60s are a good, like, if you just think about what marks that decade, that's going to give you a good taste of what the Uranus-Pluto dynamic is like, so things like rebellions against the establishment, radical social and political change, empowerment of revolutionary impulses, the spread of radical philosophies, intensified artistic and intellectual creativity, and scientific breakthroughs.

I'm going to turn the page here, because he also says, for example, Uranus and Pluto were in alignment not only during the entire decade of the 60s when they were in conjunction, but also during the entire decade of the French Revolution, when they were in opposition. This was, of course, an era whose character was conspicuously similar to that of the 1960s of which it has often been compared. So, let me just say this before we continue. We're not talking about an opposition, we're not talking about a conjunction, we're talking about a trine. So, it is a different flavor, okay? But it is the trine, the like flowering, so to speak, of a seed that was planted during that conjunction in the 60s, and let's just put that on the screen really quick. Why not? Let's look at it.

And so, happening in the mid 60s, from 1965 to 1966 Let me put the trine back up. This trine that we're about to experience grew from that conjunction in the mid 1960s which, as we said, was the seeding of so many important cultural and societal movements, like the civil rights movement, like second wave feminism, the counterculture, the space race, the explosion of conscious expanding culture, and so this was certainly a breakthrough moment, which is not a surprise, because we're talking about Uranus, but it was also, I think, we could call it a bit of shadow work, it's a bit of a reckoning, a bit, it's a major reckoning, it's facing those challenges, facing the truth of our society bringing injustices to light and putting them in the forefront and demanding that you know, at least in America, that America live up to its promise for all of its citizens.

So that was then, and now in 2026 and through 2028 this is the first major harmonious aspect. Of course, we had the sextile that was 95 through 97 but the seeds planted in the 60s are now reaching their first moment of ease and for momentum, at least since the mid 90s. So maybe we're getting more of integration rather than that confrontation. Here, the last time we had a Uranus trine Pluto was in the 1920s the early 1920s 1921 and 22 And here you have the post World War One era, where there was this massive shift in how people lived and worked and entertained themselves.

We have Uranus and Pluto in water signs here in Pisces and Cancer, and so it's interesting because you have things like the rise of the new woman, the flapper kind of lifestyle and culture emerged, women really changing themselves and speaking up for themselves. I think that's really fascinating, challenging the Victorian traditions with mass media and entertainment. We've got the radio exploding during this time, mass market advertising coming up. And becoming important, and the Harlem Renaissance really taking off, but there's also some cultural backlash as well. This is the resurgence of the KKK, this is Prohibition globally, this is the Russian famine of 1921 and 1922 which was a massive man-made and natural disaster, and millions of people were without food, and many, many people died.

So, there's always a mixed bag, right? It's never all good or all bad, but we have to remember that a trine is ultimately supportive, but what is being supported, you know, it could be materially helpful or materially challenging, and so we're going to dig into what we might see on a personal level more so today, but I think it's helpful to just get a sense for collectively what has this been like in the past and where are we in the larger cycle. So let's dig into what each planet represents before digging into the trine, and I'm actually going to read a bit from Tarnas. As I talk about this, Uranus, as we know, is the archetype of revolution and freedom.

It's associated with both breakdowns and breakthroughs. It's the lightning bolt that clears the path and the light of awareness. It awakens the desire for freedom? It liberates from oppressive structures, especially ones that are corrupt and no longer serve. And in Gemini, we're talking about revelation through ideas, through the mind, through dialog, through exchange, and how we learn. So the mind is being liberated from old frameworks, Tarnas says the planet Uranus appears to be correlated with events and biologbiographical phenomena suggestive of an archetypal principle whose essential character is Promethean, emancipatory, rebellious, progressive, and innovative, awakening, disruptive and destabilizing, unpredictable, serving to catalyze new beginnings and sudden, unexpected change.

Meanwhile, Pluto is the planet of transformation and evolution, and I'm laughing because Pluto - it's not optional. We're doing it right when Pluto is involved in Uranus, I would say, or any planet. We don't really have a choice in the matter, the archetypes just come through, the energy is just there, but Pluto, especially, is a compelling force. It's associated with the collective shadow, with mass movements, and the drive for power. Pluto adds intensity, which drives reform on multiple levels of society. It has the capacity to strip away what isn't real and expose what's been hidden, and in Aquarius, this is transformation through collective systems, through networks, through institutions, through algorithms, through shared power structures in the social fabric itself.

Tarnas says the planet Pluto, by contrast, is associated with an archetypal principle, whose character is Dionysin, elemental, instinctual, powerfully compelling, extreme in its intensity, arising from the depths both libidinal, libidinal, and destructive, overwhelming, and transformative, ever evolving on the collective level. The archetypal principle associated with Pluto is regarded as possessing a prodigious titanic dimension, empowering, intensifying, and compelling whatever it touches on a massive scale. And if we're thinking about a trine, we know trines are of the nature of Jupiter, they're harmonious, and so this harmonious aspect is saying these two forces, this principle of breakthrough, and this principle of transformation. They are in agreement, they are shaking hands, they are supporting each other.

I just imagine them, you know, elbow and elbow, arm in arm, skipping through a field for whatever reason. Maybe it won't be that, I don't know, like happy, but they're not in conflict, they're supporting one another, is the point. So, Uranus is revolutionary energy is being supported and deepened by Pluto's transformative force and vice versa. So, now what I want to do is shift and talk about the decans.

The decans are what I want to use as an interpretive lens here, because as we know, the outer planets move so dang slowly, and that means that they're going to be in that 10 degree chunk of the zodiac signs they're in for quite a while, which can really help us understand the specific way, the specific quality, the specific feeling that we're getting from these archetypes in this moment. Okay, so if you're not familiar with decans, decans just refer to the 10 degree segments within each zodiac sign, and a metaphor that I've heard before from Kira Reyberg, and I don't know if she came up with it, but I learned it from her, and I will say I've learned. A ton from her about the decans, and I really love her work, along with Austin Copic's work on the decans, which I'm sure you are likely familiar with, but I'll shout those two people out really quick.

Anyway, I heard her explain it as the decans are like a room in the temple or the house, which would be the zodiac sign, so if the entire zodiac sign is a house, then each decan is like its own room with its own, you know, decorations and vibe, and that qualitative vibe is what we get from the decans. So I think they're very, very useful to look at, especially when we're talking about outer planets that are moving extremely slowly. So let's begin with Gemini one, so this is zero degrees to nine degrees and 59 arc minutes of Gemini. So, let's start by talking about the co-rulers of the Deccans, and when I say co-rulers, I, what I mean is there are two different rulership schemas we can look at with the Deccans.

We can look at the Chaldean order, which, if you're on YouTube, is what you're seeing in my outer ring here, and it goes in reverse planetary order with the traditional planets from slowest to fastest, so it goes Saturn, and let's actually look at it here: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, and then it starts back over all around the circle, and then the other scheme that we can look at is the triplicity rulership, and in the triplicity rulership for Gemini One, we have Mercury being the ruler and Jupiter being the Chaldean ruler. So, Jupiter and Mercury was all that to say Jupiter and Mercury are the co-rulers of the first decan of Gemini, what does that tell us? Well, Mercury has a particular strong presence in this first decan.

This is the most mercurial part of Gemini, of course. All of Gemini is ruled by Mercury, but there's an added Mercurial oomph in the first part here, and we know Mercury is the scribe, the communicator, the collector of information, the business person, the scientist, the IT person, the mathematician, and if we think about Jupiter, Jupiter adds this philosophical flair to this, so whereas Mercury might be like a Lincoln Douglas debate, I don't know if that's the best analogy. Actually, it could be, because it's like a straight up debate. Jupiter, to me, is more of like a Socratic seminar, where we're asking questions. It's got a deeper philosophical element to it, and it also adds generosity, a give and take of the wisdom, a back and forth of genuine learning.

And so it's a deeper conversation that we're having, and when we combine those two together, it's like we have the analysis and the inquisitiveness and the curiosity of Mercury, along with the meaning making of Jupiter, kind of working together here, which is really fascinating and interesting, and then we can also look at the tarot card that's associated with this decan, which is the eight of swords. The eight of swords has a person in my deck, it's a woman, and she's blindfolded and surrounded by swords. This card is often read as she's not actually imprisoned by force, but by indecision, like in the traditional tarot deck, she, it appears as though she could actually kind of just walk away and take the blindfold off, and because swords are symbolic of air, this is kind of interpreted often as too many options, too many decisions, too many paths, and so the gift and the challenge of this decan are the same.

There's a ton of ideas, there's so much to learn, there's so many options, and we can go down a lot of different rabbit holes, which can be really exciting and fun, but it can also be very overwhelming. In her Deccan guidebook, Kira Reyberg quotes the jack of all trade is a master of none maxim, but apparently there's more to the quote, and it's a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one, which you could interpret as those who have explored many routes can often synthesize and bring them together in unexpected ways, so there's a way in which your curiosity and all of the rabbit holes you go down somehow become important later, you're like, "Oh, I can make this connection that I never would have made before.

And we're talking about Uranus, so we are voracious in our consumption of knowledge and information. Personally, I can speak to that, like that has definitely been true for me on a personal level since Uranus has entered Gemini, and that can be overwhelming. It can overload our system, for sure. However, it can put us in a position where we have the ability to weave together things that others would never have connected the dots on. On and so the breakthrough that comes from connecting those dots can be very profound and incredible and exhilarating and exciting. I do want to bring in Austin Copic's title for this decade, along with T. Susan Chang's title. So Copic's title comes from his book 36 Faces.

T. Susan Chang wrote a book called 36 secrets, which specifically connects the tarot to the decans, and so Copic's title is the apple, aka like the the apple from the Garden of Eden, almost said the Garden of Eve. Anyway, so we know what that brings up knowledge, right? We suddenly are overwhelmed with all of this knowledge, and then for Ching, it's fate versus free will, and so we're getting that from the tarot card, which adds a different, interesting dimension to this, that we start to understand all of the choices we can make, and which one do we choose? We ultimately can only choose one thing at a time, and so how do we make those choices, so that's Uranus in the first decan of Gemini. Let's move on to Aquarius one.

So the first decan of Aquarius is co-ruled by Venus and Saturn. Now you're not seeing Saturn here, because my software is reading this like a night chart, which actually would like change the triplicity rulers here, and when you put those together, it's an, it's a fascinating combination. We know Venus is artistic, it is creative, it wants connection and harmony, and the principle of beauty. It's also interested in value, what we both value and create, and just what is beautiful, pleasing, and harmonious. Saturn is about limitation. It's about exile and being an outsider. It's about darkness, literally, metaphorically, as well. Endings, time, labor, the long road - these are all Saturnian things.

So, together we can get the image of perhaps a struggling artist trying to make it in a world that doesn't get them. We could get a person who longs for someone to understand them, but ultimately feels alone. I talked to my Weekend Wisdom about that feeling of being in a crowded room, like full of people, or a crowd of people, but feeling alone. It could also be the kind of craftiness and the kind of creativity that comes from being put under some kind of constriction or restraint. Could also be about labor in service of something that hasn't been recognized yet, and so these are just some things that come to mind when I combine Venus and Saturn, the two co-rulers of the first second of Aquarius.

The tarot card here is the five of swords, which is, you know, a card that I would guess none of us are too excited to pull in our tarot deck. It doesn't look like a very happy scene. It looks as though a conflict has just ended, and there are winners and losers. There are two people walking away; they seem to be sort of downtrodden. And then the man or person that's holding the swords has this look of victory on his face, but it's kind of smug.

He looks like, haha, I win, and there's a sense of pain, honestly. When I look at this card, so thinking about this card, and T. Susan Chang's title, which is literally winners and losers, knowing that the swords are indicative of air, I think about stating opinions or verbally asserting an idea that is not well received, or a verbal argument, a debate where someone wants to be right rather than be heard. Also, there can be a way in which when we do try to speak our mind or state our opinions, we may not be well received. There's a potential for misunderstanding. I think about someone who refuses to accept the consensus truth, quote unquote.

This is a phrase I don't know where I heard this phrase, but I love it, and it feels very Aquarian to me that there's this consensus reality, this consensus truth, the truth and the reality we all agreed to, but there's actually quite a bit of question underneath it. It feels very Pluto in Aquarius, too. Like, how do we even know what we know on some level? Of course, we can prove some things, but there's a way in which I think we might be questioning consensus reality, and we may not be well received by that. Right, you think about somebody like Galileo, who was criticized and put under house arrest, and etc. just exiled essentially for believing the earth revolved around the sun and having proof of. At right, so I'm not going to go too deep on that, but you can see how questioning what everybody else has accepted as true could put you as an outsider, and that's something I think about when I consider the tarot card here - it's the mark inflicted on people brave enough to forge a different path.

Perhaps sometimes we choose the exile, sometimes it's forced upon us. We can become the black sheep who must find support outside of either the literal home or the places we call home, the places where we once felt comfortable, we're no longer welcome, and so the key quality here is when you're on the outside looking in, you can gain a perspective that you would not have gotten otherwise, and you may not be welcomed in light of that perspective, but you see what must be changed, and perhaps even thrown out altogether. So, thinking about Pluto here being a transformative force operating from the margins, Pluto can strip away what isn't real with a clarity that only comes from being the outsider, from being able to step out of that consensus reality and see things from a different perspective.

So, if we try to hold both of these decans together, we go to Gemini One, the revolutionary mind, weaving threads together, disrupting through information and unexpected connection. And then we think about Aquarius One, the exiles, clarity, transforming from the margins and seeing what those from the inside cannot see a trine between those two gives me a revolutionary mind in harmonious conversation with a transformative outsider. Remember, they're not in conflict, they're helping each other, so we're not tearing things down for the sake of tearing things down. It's about building something new from the threads that have been gathered, remember all of that rabbit hole and thread gathering of Gemini One, and with the clarity of someone who was never beholden to the old structure.

I think it's fascinating that many, many people, at least in America, you know, feel disenfranchised at this point in time, and even people who traditionally were very much a part of the quote in group. I'm definitely not a minority as a white woman. However, I grew up in the early 2000s where it was just expected that you go to college, and it was just expected that you get student loan debt, and so millennials, whether they were disenfranchised or not, many of us have just staggering student loan debt, and it has become a crisis. I think student loan debt has far, far outcated credit card debt. If I'm not mistaken, someone can correct me in the comments. And so you have a dwindling middle class, and you have a growing number of people who don't feel like America is for them at this point in time, and I think that's fascinating, given what we're talking about.

So, there are a lot of people who are feeling that Pluto, outsider exile, sort of on the margins, feeling that maybe would not have felt that had they been alive at a different time, and we'll see what happens, right? But there's, I think solutions. I think people may be banding together to come up with a new way of doing things, but I want to focus now on the personal. Okay, so this is in the vein of Adam. Three things to watch for: practical and personal. What is this Trine asking of us as an individual thing, number one, Where are you being called to think differently? Uranus and Gemini One is the revolution of the mind, it's the jack of all trades energy, and I think it's asking us to draw on everything we've learned across many paths and connect it in ways that you would not have connected it before, so you can ask yourself, where have you been thinking inside a framework that was handed to you rather than the one that you chose, and this might just come up naturally.

You might be doing something you've always done, or doing it in a way that you've always done, and then suddenly be like, why don't I do it this way? Why don't I try it like this, and that can create or facilitate the breakthrough that we're talking about, so what would it look like to gather your many threads, all of the treasure from the rabbit holes you've gone down, the side quests, the things you've learned that seemed unrelated, and weave them into something new. This is where I want to bring back the eight of swords, because we might feel constricted at this time, but the eight of swords invitation is to remember that you never are, that you can tap into your craftiness and find a new way. Okay, you're never truly stuck. The obstacle is.

Often more so in our own indecision rather than truly being limited and stuck. So ask yourself around this time, if you're feeling this, what decision have you been circling that this moment might be pressing you to make? And how can you get crafty? How can you find a new way out that you wouldn't have seen otherwise. Question number two, or thing number two to watch for, is where has exile been your teacher? This question is so freaking juicy for me. I won't go deep on my personal stuff today, but I think that we can learn so much from the feeling of being exiled, not that it's a fun experience, but it can be a really powerful teacher, and it can make us very confident in ways we would not be confident otherwise.

We know that Pluto in Aquarius one is the transformative power of the outsider, it's the one who sees clearly, because they were never fully invited inside, so around this time notice where you're feeling that. If you're feeling that, where you're feeling that, and you can reflect leading up to this moment on where in your life have you been on the margins? Is it within your family, is it within your culture, is it within your community, your school, and what clarity has that position given you that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise, and perhaps maybe that you haven't fully claimed yet. Because look, being an outsider and feeling exiled, it's not a fun experience. It doesn't feel good, and we often resist it, and understandably so. But to resist it is also to deny or ignore, or at least not see the gifts.

This perspective that I keep talking about. So, can we see the both end of it? Can we understand that? Yes, it's painful. Yes, it sucks. Yes, I don't like it on a material level, but what did it allow me to see? What vantage point did it give me that I would not have gotten without it. That perspective is irreplaceable. It's not a wound to heal, it's a credential of sorts. So, Pluto is asking us, what have you been doing with that clarity? First of all, have you even claimed it? Is it being used at all, or is it still being treated like a liability or something to fix? Embrace it, and I think you'll find a deep power, right?

You'll be able to transform and alchemize maybe the pain of feeling like an outsider into that power that Pluto ultimately wants to give us and help us access. And then, finally, thing number three to think about, watch for, reflect on is what are you building that old structures could not contain? I think about the trine as a whole, Uranus and Pluto in a harmonious conversation is about revolutionary ideas. We think about Uranus and Gemini meeting transformative power, Pluto and Aquarius in a way that's constructive, in a way that builds something, coheres, brings together. Remember, this is not a square, it's not an opposition, it's not a conjunction, it's not about disruption necessarily, or it's certainly not about disruption for the sake of disruption.

It's about building something better in its place. It's about disruption for the sake of construction, and if you end up reading Davidson's article, she also quotes Tarnas quite a bit, and she says, while she's drawing on him, that this alignment is an invitation to become conscious of how you create your future and to make sure it's actually your future that you're building, not one shaped by unconscious patterns or by the pressure of structures that no longer serve you, which I think is so beautifully said, so concise and precise, and just exactly what I think this transit has to offer us on a personal level.

So, ask yourself, what are you building right now in your work, in your relationships, in your creative life that couldn't have existed inside a framework that maybe you're walking away from, what are you moving toward that you had to let go, you had to become an outsider, you had to be willing to be on the margins in order to create. It's not a comfortable feeling at first to be in uncharted territory, both with your ideas and to feel kind of alone in doing that, which is that exile energy of Pluto and Aquarius, but it is the path to constructing something that is more generative, that is more aligned, and that puts you back in your power, and you know we're talking personally, but certainly collectively, this is an empowering transit for the collective, in my humble opinion.

So that's what I'm tracking and thinking about with this transit. Remember, July 18, 2026 is the first exact pass, but the trine is an orb well before the. Yeah, it's been an orb, really, since Uranus entered Gemini, and if you have planets at the early degrees of Gemini, Aquarius, Libra, Sag, this trine is speaking directly to those parts of your chart, and likely you've already been in this. It's not new information, right, because Uranus and Pluto have been aspecting your natal planets. Okay, so I hope this was helpful. I would love to hear how this landed for you. Remember, this is a long game. This is something that's been developing since the seed was planted in the 1960s.

It's an invitation to weave our threads to trust the clarity that comes from feeling as though you're an outsider, maybe literally being an outsider, and I kind of think it's indicative of a larger invitation of 2026 especially because this trine is part of the larger story of the outer planets all being in, mostly because there is one opposition, but mostly harmonious relationships with one another. So, the larger invitation might be to simply become conscious of your power and to use it deliberately and on purpose and in alignment with your values. So, again, hope this was helpful. Hey everyone, thanks for sticking around. I'm excited to tell you about our upcoming program, Ancient Astrology for the Modern Mystic. This is our first year class in Ancient Hellenistic Astrology, and it begins again in June. I'm going to tell you about this program, all that it includes, so you know exactly what to expect if you decide to come and study with us. I want to start by talking a little bit about how you know if it's the right time to study astrology or not, which is a question I get asked all the time. First of all, I would say that the way that you know you're ready to study astrology at a deeper level and take a more serious class is that it doesn't just feel like curiosity any longer.

It feels like something that you can't stop thinking about, or a way of seeing the world and viewing your experiences that you constantly think about, or almost like a filter that you experience life through. If you are often thinking about fate and free will, purpose, meaning, if you tend to see and understand and experience symbolism in everyday events all of the time, these are some of the key things that I've noticed generally start happening for people when they might be ready to study astrology more seriously. Some people don't just like astrology. There's a call to study it. There's a call for it to be a primary spiritual form of practice, or maybe even professional practice.

I want to talk about who this is right for people who want to go deeper, not just memes, not just horoscopes, not just taking in content passively, but for people who love symbolism, who love myth, who love divination, who want a structured path with a stable lineage. Lots of students and people have come through our programs. Our programs have helped build many professional careers at this point in the larger field of astrology. And if you feel a little bit overwhelmed with trying to weed or sort through all of the information that's out there on your own, beginners are absolutely welcome in this program with no prior experience, because we start from the ground up.

At the same time, people who already have a background and are more intermediate or advanced, but have not yet gone through a structured study of ancient Hellenistic astrology, ancient philosophy, and the ancient practices and techniques of this craft, you're going to be starting in the same place in a way that beginners are at. Your background in astrology will help you tremendously, but this is a program that is ideally for total beginners or people who are new to Hellenistic astrology and have never gotten that traditional background. I want to talk about what you're going to learn in the program. You're going to learn the foundations of ancient traditional astrology, starting with some history, some basic astronomy and philosophy to help you really understand what is karma, what is fate, what is destiny, what is divination, what is the epistemological mode of understanding that ancient people were living in.

They were living, for example, in an animistic sense of the cosmos that they thought spoke through the oracle of the planets and stars. What does that mean for us today? Where does the study of fate, destiny, karma, the evolution of the soul play into all of this transmigration, reincarnation. We really try to set a strong philosophical foundation, and from there we move through the primary components of the language, planets, signs, houses, and then the different ways in which those features interact with each other through things like aspects, dignity, accidental and essential dignity, and then we start tying things together through interpretive methodology. All of this is something that, if you have a background in modern astrology, that'll help you, but this is also a whole nother level of seriousness and specific craft-based ideas that are unique to Hellenistic astrology.

Everything we do at Nightlight incorporates a modern psyche. Logical and archetypal perspective, and my background is also in modern evolutionary astrology, and I have a background in Indian philosophy and yoga. So, you're going to find that there's a little bit of a cauldron of different spiritual and philosophical backgrounds that are present, even though our main focus is Hellenistic.

You're going to learn about ancient techniques, but you're also going to learn how to apply them in the modern world we live in today. How does the course work logistically? Let's talk about that for a second. It's a year-long container. There are live classes, there are also recordings, so if you can't make it live, you can follow along with anything at your own pace. In fact, you have a couple of years in which to work before you would have to submit an exam, and the exam itself is optional only for people who are seeking certification because you're interested in practicing professionally, we have discussion forums, discussion in and outside of class year round. We have tutors on staff who also lead breakout sessions for review in between our major units of study.

So, there's 30 classes on the year, and then there's about six breakout study sessions, give or take. And those study sessions, sessions are there to help complement the work we do in class. You can go at your own pace. Toward the end of the program, we have a lot of practice sessions that are meant to work through charts together, and that also feature live readings with real clients, so you can see what a day in the life of practice looks like for me as a practitioner, and see all the things we're studying applied with real people in a real live setting. I, the thing to me that's most important is, why study here, right? Why study with me and our staff, it has to do with fit.

To me, the big takeaway from this is not just the learning, not just the prep for potential professional practice, but because you are going to feel confident reading charts, you're going to have a deeper understanding of the cycles of your own life and working with astrology in your own life, but most profoundly, people tend to come out of this program feeling spiritually transformed, feeling healed, feeling like they have a spiritual path in life that will last them for the rest of their lives.

When astrology becomes a daily living spiritual practice, then you know that you've really, really learned something that way, the way that astrology is always intended to be learned, which is to accompany you as a spiritual path in life.
