What happens when the desire for connection meets the boundary of reality? Venus and Saturn are now in exact opposition, bringing a pivotal moment for our relationships.
This transit doesn't ask us to abandon love, but to define it with honesty and maturity. In this video, I walk through every house axis—from Aries-Libra to Virgo-Pisces—so you can see exactly where this turning point lands in your own birth chart.
Whether it's about commitment, sacrifice, or the tension between personal freedom and partnership, this is a time of clarifying what truly matters.
Venus seeks connection, Saturn defines a limit. This opposition creates an encounter that needs to clarify things going forward in relationships. It asks which relationships allow you to feel happy and still be yourself.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we're going to take a look at Venus's opposition to Saturn once more. Yesterday we went into the archetypal patterning of Venus Saturn dynamics. Today we're going to take a look at horoscopes, and we're going to specifically look at the pairings of houses that go together for each sign of the zodiac. This will be a way of exploring the house axis rather than thinking about it too singularly, which means, at least to me, considering a conversation happening between two houses. So I hope that you'll find this helpful.
And obviously, Venus Saturn dynamics can be difficult. If you haven't yet seen yesterday's video, putting these two together will probably be the best way to get the most complete coverage. So, if you haven't watched that one, you might pair that at some point with today's talk. Before we get into it, remember to like and subscribe. It helps us grow what we're doing here and sustain what we're doing for you to give us that little thumbs up, turn on notifications, and subscribe if you haven't yet. It's free to do so every day.
You can find transcripts of these talks on the website that's Nightlight Astrology.com. A couple of things to promote: I am back open for readings, so if you would like, you can book a reading with me. I am doing these oracle readings, which you can find if you go to book a reading on the website, click readings with Adam. If my readings are out of your price point for whatever reason, we also do have need-based astrology readings with our staff, people who are gaining experience in astrology, and we have more affordable pricing for people there.
It's part of our mission at Nightlight to make sure that astrological services are accessible financially. When you book a reading with me, this is an oracle reading, which means I'm going to use your birth chart, but I may also use the I Ching or Tarot kind of as I feel led in the moment. And there's some instructions for how to think about your reading in advance and what kind of question you want to ask. So check that out. Make sure you read through it carefully. There's also an express service. You can, if you need it more quickly and you don't want to stand in a long line, there is an express service.
If it's something that's really urgent, so you can check that out. It costs a little extra. What else under the events page? Click on annual retreat. We are hosting a retreat next August of 2027. You can't just study methods and techniques. At least that's the way that we think about things at Nightlight. So check this out. I'd love to see you there. It's a great, wonderful community experience, and a lot of learning too. You get a certification from this experience to add to the certifications that we offer at Nightlight. We're going to talk about the program and some updates that they've been doing. Really enjoy working with them.
So here we are on August 20th, and we can see that Venus is just about a degree away from the opposition to Saturn. And so this opposition that we talked about yesterday, from an archetypal perspective, today we're going to talk about from the standpoint of horoscopes. But if I fast forward this, you'll notice that by tomorrow morning, Friday, August 21st, Venus will be exactly opposite Saturn. Let's give it three degrees of separation, and we'll see that they're just about exactly three degrees apart by Monday, August 24. So you'll be seeing this over the weekend, maybe dealing with the Venus Saturn dynamic for a few more days.
It's been building as the week has been going on. We'll see what that leads us to pretty shortly here for most of us, the most intense manifestation will be today, tomorrow, and Saturday. So anyhow, let's now. What I want to do here is first of all, I'm going to change everything in my wheel. This is a handy part of working with Nachepso. So we'll take out everything, but whoops, we're going to take out everything in our view except for these two planets. And now I'm going to back this up to today. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to talk about these as house pairings across the wheel.
We're going to start with Aries, but we're going to talk now specifically about Aries Libra, and I'm going to talk about the first seven houses as an interchangeable set of topics that both Aries and Libras will be dealing with. So, if you're listening to this today, what I want you to do is pay attention to the house axis, and you can apply the horoscope for both signs. So we're looking at Aries rising right now, but also we're interchanging the way we're talking about this with Libra, and we'll move like that through these horoscopes. And I hope that this will be helpful for you.
Aries rising or sun, you can listen to these. I recommend your rising sign from the whole sign house perspective of Hellenistic astrology. That's going to be the most accurate way of looking at the horoscopes because it matches with the current transits of your whole sign birth chart. But whatever you use, if you use Placidus or something else, you can decide if you want to listen to sun or rising, so Aries sun rising, Libra sun rising. This horoscope is for you. We'll start here. We're talking about the first and the seventh house as an axis and a dialogue taking place across the two.
Now, in Indian astrology, Dharma is a name given to the first house, and Kama the seventh, which basically means your selfhood and your sense of what makes you independent and unique versus the happiness derived from relating to other people. And these are two fundamental areas of life that stand contrary to one another. And there's a tension that exists between the two of them, for all of us. In ancient Hellenistic astrology, the first house is the helm of the ship. It's the body, life, character, health, appearance. You could say the agency and the native's sense of being at the helm of their own ship, their basic direction in life, and the sense of being an independent being with volition and choice.
And Dharma in Indian astrology, what is the life that I'm here to embody? Whereas the seventh house is the place, obviously opposite the first, and it belongs to things like spouses, partners, agreements, clients, sometimes opponents, and consequential meetings or encounters with other people. It belongs to Kama, which is also the desire to meet, join, exchange, and experience happiness or bliss in relating to others. So this is the quintessential axis for looking at relationship dynamics, and Venus opposite Saturn is pretty explicit of an astrological transit that's pretty explicitly about relationships. It can be about other things as well, but we're going to really spend time today thinking about it as a relationship.
So these relationship turning points for Aries and Libra rising right now are coming because maybe a relationship needs to be redefined, and that would be because one person's sense of identity or boundaries or priorities have shifted or are changing in some way, and so conversation about that may be occurring. Clarifying commitments, or refining, or defining, or changing commitments. One person may easily feel for either Aries or Libra rising like there's an inequality in a relationship. One person is requiring too much of the other, and there can also be complaints or issues around selfishness.
And it's very common for this particular transit to result in the need for either refining and deepening commitments or leaving them behind because they're just not working any longer. Sometimes new relationships come about when this kind of transit occurs, but usually there's more long-term serious potential. There's a gravitas to Venus opposite Saturn when you're meeting someone new. It's like, ooh, this is significant. I think what kinds of relationships allow me to feel happy and still be myself. Those are questions for Aries and Libra rising right now. So I put these two together. Any of these themes are pretty interchangeable for both signs.
When you have oppositions, they're like the yin and yang circle with the speck of black in the white and white in the black. They can really move fluidly all of these topics back and forth for these two rising signs right now. Now let's move along to the Taurus Scorpio axis. So these horoscopes would be applicable for you if you are a Taurus rising or a Scorpio rising, because we're looking at the sixth and 12th house on either side, and the dialogue can be really interchangeable. In the sixth house, we're talking about Arta, which has to do with the work of the world, the material world, the effort, sacrifice, labor, hardships, difficulties that we have to overcome.
Also, the meaningful work that we do that requires effort and upkeep and sacrifice and discipline, and Moksha in the 12th house, which has to do with release from the world, release from the body, release from the material plane. So, in traditional astrology, the sixth is associated with things like work and service and illness and injury and conflict and subordinate relationships where someone works for us, debts, difficulties that are going to require effort and management and upkeep. And in Indian astrology this is why it's called Arta, which has to do with practical labor, maintenance, the skill required to manage and deal with material problems like paying bills and surviving and overcoming sickness and beating out other people for a job because you're more skilled or something like this is all the sixth house.
Now the 12th, on the other hand, in traditional astrology is a place of retreat at best, exile, confinement, or imprisonment at worst. It can be about things we don't see, undermining influences, withdrawal from the world, or again, retreat or isolation or solitude. But it also has to do with liberation from worldly things altogether, and usually there's a need to relinquish attachments, and that can come sometimes through exhaustion or spiritual, mental, physical health crises, or almost like dark nights of the soul. That's the worst of the 12th. But if we're intentional about letting go, then there can be a lot of spiritual healing that takes place in the 12th house if we become aware of what undermines us.
So when we consider Taurus or Scorpio rising, we're talking about relationships reaching some point of limit or expiration because maybe one person's been doing too much work and it's just become exhausting. Now any kind of caretaking patterns where service or sacrifice is reaching a point of limitation or exhaustion, or it's becoming problematic, then we have potentially an issue. Burnout can require people to change routines or who they exist in relationship with because of what is filling them up versus what's draining them. There can be issues with people trying to undermine, problems with employees or people that you are in charge of somehow.
Can also be that health, work, mental health, sleep, well-being, the need for rest—that these things are really having a powerful effect on a relationship. One person might need more time or space or solitude or retreat, and any kind of relationship that's built on rescuing or fixing or guilt or shame or obligation may need to shift somehow. Forgiveness and release of rigid expectations of one another may occur. Which relationships sustain and which exhaust? So, those are some things that you can think about if you're Taurus or a Scorpio, because the axis is very interchangeable here. When oppositions come up, that's how it tends to go.
Now, for Geminis or Sagittarius, we have the fifth and the 11th house axis. So, if you're Gemini sun rising or Sagittarius sun rising, you're going to have these two planets across your fifth and 11th right now. So, the fifth is called Dharma, the 11th Kama again. The fifth is about Dharma, as in my creative essence and the creative joy that I feel by acting and living from my creative essence, and then Kama in the 11th has to do with collective fulfillment and collective or social participation and well-being or happiness in the world. So the fifth is related, for example, your creative essence, to things like children and pregnancy, creativity, sexuality, anything that brings joyfulness and is sort of playful, spontaneous, creative, and fulfilling, that comes from your essence.
The 11th house is a place of friends and allies and social connections, potential benefactors, hope, gain, support that come usually through groups or collaboration. It's a Kama house, which means that it has to do with the fulfillment of desires and participation in the world. So, whether that's popularity or rank or social status or for other people meaningfully participating in groups of like-minded friends or believers or whatever. Well, when these two come together, it's possible that a friendship with someone in a group could become romantic, or maybe a romance has to transition into realizing we're more friends. That would be common for these two planets across these two houses.
But also, any kind of differences that you have that are creative in nature, it might involve things like children, dating, sexuality, creativity, and different values. When it comes to those things, can create conflict. There can be conflict in communities or spaces where your children belong or participate. Now, couples may have to decide if they share creative priorities or not, and creative collaborations with other people ask you how much of your own creative voice are you willing to sacrifice for the sake of something collective that you believe in, or are you having to change or shift priorities socially or publicly or professionally because of different values creatively and personally.
And there can be questions about social approval or where you fit in or don't fit in socially that are a big part of this axis. What creatively satisfies us personally, and what are we trying to fulfill in our lives socially or publicly? And there's tension between those two things right now for all the Gemini Sages out there. That's how I would look at it. Now let's go to Cancer and Capricorn. We're talking about the 10th and fourth house axis. So if you're a Cancer sun rising or Capricorn sun rising, we've got these two planets across your 10th and fourth either direction. This is Moksha and Arta again.
And we're talking in Moksha about liberation from the world, rest, healing, privacy, internality, the home space, family space, interiority, and again privacy. Whereas the 10th is very public, and it's an Arta house, which means it has to do with work in the world, influence in the world, power, notoriety, rank, ability, vocation, involvement in the civic or social arena. So, the fourth is home, family, parents, land, ancestry, the foundations of your life. It's also a resting place. It's inward. It has to do with emotional repose or the place that you go home to rest. Whereas the 10th, action, reputation, profession, achievement, visible responsibility has to do with your conduct in the world.
So this, for a lot of Cancer Capricorns, is going to be about career demands that require some kind of renegotiation around home or domestic life or family responsibilities. But it could also be, let's say, a couple having to make big decisions about family, home, relocation, property, parenting, vocation. Those kinds of decisions may come up for a home or family that has to, you know, partners have to make those things together, those choices together. It could be that one person in a couple has certain ambitions that are being supported by the other, and there are imbalances or questions about how much sacrifice should each person have to make for the other person's career or something like that.
Now there could be a private relationship that becomes more public, a partner may need to accept more responsibility without allowing duty and work to override the need for a sweet private life of love and connection with a partner or family or something like that. Sometimes this is about re-evaluating the foundation of relationships and what it stands on. Looking at family karma and how it influences your intimate life, and maybe whose career is more important than another. You could see these kinds of things coming up. Okay, let's go to the Leo Aquarius axis because when we look at Leo and Aquarius, if you're Leo sun rising or an Aquarius sun rising, we have Venus and Saturn across the third and the ninth.
Now this is Kama and Dharma again, which means we're talking about the sphere of your subjective mind, your ego, your opinions, your intellect, and your own personal skills and abilities, and the cultivation of those things through learning. Whereas in the ninth house, we're talking about Dharma, which means a higher sense of truth and reality. The third is like what's true for me today, right now, based on what I'm feeling and what's going on in my immediate environment, and there's relevance to that always. Ninth is like what's true in the universe, you know. So sometimes the third is also because it has to do with the immediate environment. Most usually, the mind, the thoughts, the kind of the body-mind matrix and its relative sphere of influence and centrality.
Well, the ninth being the joy of the sun is about higher truth. So we have extended things involving in the third house, say siblings, neighbors, local things that are environmental somehow. Now, the ninth is a place of God, religion, philosophy, divination, pilgrimage. It's a Dharma house that's concerned with universal truth. So they contrast in terms of your immediate perception and reality of just your personal reality, you know, versus the kind of big objective reality of the cosmos. So when relationships are hitting moments around this, it could be that there are conversations happening about differing values, beliefs, worldviews.
There needs to be clearer communication because of differing beliefs or ideas, differences involving other things like religion or politics or education or travel or philosophy that informs your relationship or your family, or something. There can be relationships between yourself and teachers, or places of learning that are maybe a little bit more tense, or reaching some kind of inflection point. One person may be speaking from personal experience, while the other is trying to invoke principles, or doctrines, or dogmas. This is a great axis for things like counseling, study, spiritual guidance that help you gain perspective that you can't get just on your own.
So beliefs don't need to be identical, but meaningful conversation needs to be had if there are differing ideas or worldviews, so I would look at that kind of dynamic for Leos and Aquarians right now. Now, finally, we go to Virgo and Pisces. So, if you're Virgo sun rising or Pisces sun rising, Venus Saturn will be across your second and eighth house. So, this is Arta and Moksha again. Arta in the second house has to do with things like livelihood and possessions and resources and income and anything that sustains life. I think that's fascinating. When we get to the eighth house, we're dealing with the reason I think it's fascinating, by the way, that I say that because it's like what's so fascinating about that, is that we frequently think about it as just money, but it's anything that supports the native who's in the first house.
And the second is thought of as like a storehouse of support or resources that are propping the native up. It almost is like the portion of heaven that's supporting beneath the native. This is why it can be associated with your garden and what grows in it that you can eat, for example. But anyhow, the eighth, on the other hand, is about death and inheritance and other people's resources and debts and anything that is in other people's hands and karmic agreements or entanglements that we have that can be released or worked through, and that can be relinquished with work. You know, attachments are problematic in the eighth house at times. All attachments have to be let go of. All things that we own or possess eventually have to be relinquished. So it's a real axis of give and take.
So right now, relationships may face turning points around things like money or debt, inheritance, taxes, bills, property, shared expenses, and couples are going to be like, "What's mine and what's yours?" Intimacy may develop right now or deepen because of really honest conversations about things like fear and grief and shame or vulnerability. One person may be seeking more autonomy; the other person wants to merge and share things more. There can be the need to formalize how you're going to share or agree upon something like a contract or getting out of one. And questions generally about loyalty and reciprocity are going to come with this one.
If there are any losses or transitions, they are going to reveal to you what your values really are right now. So, if you think about it, for all of these horoscopes, Venus is going to seek connection, and Saturn's going to define a limit or a boundary, and this opposition creates an encounter that needs to clarify things going forward in relationships. So, for most of us, the Venus ruled themes will have to do with relationships, and if not relationships, then things like values, tastes, desires will be refined through the process of the opposition. Pretty powerful one. I hope that you find these horoscopes useful.
You're having a good day tomorrow. We're going to round out the week by talking about the coming Sun South Node conjunction, which is another interesting thing taking place over the weekend. So we'll look at that shortly. Hope you're having a great day today. We'll see you again next time. Bye.
