Today, we explore the profound transit of Venus opposing Saturn, which is reactivating the recent Solar Eclipse in Virgo. I will guide you through what this means for all 12 signs, using the whole sign house system of Hellenistic astrology.
We will go beyond simple predictions. I have crafted reflective questions for each rising sign to help you understand how this planetary dance activates the houses in your birth chart. This is about the archetypal tension between love and limitation, between what we desire and what is required.
Join me in contemplating how we ground our pleasures in reality and what is truly worth sacrificing for. This is ancient wisdom for your modern life.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from
Nightlight Astrology https://nightlightastrology.com/.
Happy Friday everyone. Today, we're going to take another look at Venus opposing Saturn from Virgo to Pisces, but we're going to do this for all 12 whole sign horoscopes today, and give you a real look at which houses are being activated in your birth chart.
I recommend listening for your rising sign, because that will always correspond to the whole sign house version of your birth chart, which is what we Hellenistic astrologers use as our natal default setting. In that setting, basically what you're doing is you're looking at exactly which houses the current transits are moving through. Which is why the rising sign is always kind of like a natal transit report.
You can always listen to your sun sign, your moon sign, because those are going to be just symbolic divinatory approaches that, for some people, really work as well. But anyway, that is my recommendation for how you approach this today.
But you'll see that we're also taking a little bit of a unique approach in our horoscopes today. I'm going to have some questions that I am inviting you to reflect on given the pairing of these two planets across a set of houses. So anyway, that's our agenda for today.
Before we get into it, remember to like and subscribe, share your comments and reflections. Turn on that notification bell. Turn on all the notifications. It lets you know when new episodes have dropped, and that's really going to help us grow as a channel as well.
You can find transcripts of any of my daily talks on my website, which is Nightlight astrology.com.
A couple of promotions today. First one, I'm very excited to announce that we're starting our silent Sundays. Our meditation gathering will begin later this month. Go to the events page, click on silent Sundays. This is totally free to attend. There's just a zoom link you literally click on and join us.
Our first meeting will be October 26 at 10:30am Central time. It's an opportunity to gather. And if you have a practice of sitting quietly or not, this is going to be a space to help you develop that or take it deeper, or maybe get it started. For me, it's just one more opportunity to make meaningful bridges between astrology and spiritual practice, or spiritual self care.
I'm really excited about this. And again, it's totally free to attend. I hope you'll join us and come, come take advantage of some quiet time. It's really, really good for the soul man. Anyway, go to Courses page, click on first year course.
The other promotion today is the program, ancient astrology for the modern mystic, my first year course in ancient Hellenistic astrology begins again November 8. There's an informational video here on the page will tell you everything you need to know the course outline everything is here on the page as well.
For you, there's 30 classes on the year. They're all held via live webinars. If you can't attend, everything is housed for you on a student website. You have your own little private student portal where everything's kept so you can follow along at your own pace.
Outside of the 30 classes on the year that I teach, there are also breakout study sessions led by our tutoring staff. There's an interactive group forum discussion that staff tutors to ask questions year round. Tons of supplemental material, guest speakers outside of our normal lectures, just a lot a lot of really amazing content.
This is what I consider to be really kind of the crowning jewel of my career as an astrologer these courses my I've poured my heart and soul into them, teaching them for going on 16 years now, that's a really good time to be studying too, as Uranus and Pluto are trining one another in the year ahead in air signs, fantastic transit for studying astrology.
You'll find the early bird rates at the bottom of the page. They're available until October 24 saves you significantly off the cost of the course. Also, there's need based tuition assistance. So if you're someone who could use a little help to make the program happen, exchange rates are high, or you're on a limited income, you're not wanting to live outside of your means, or you're dealing with some debt, whatever the case might be, we don't think that people should be priced out of studying something sacred.
We want this to be accessible, so that is a big part of our our mission at Nightlight, and I hope that it benefits you. If so, please just take advantage of that. Use the sliding scale for your tuition.
On that note, let us now shift our attention to the real time clock, and let's just review what is happening, what we're talking about. So yesterday, I spent time exploring the archetypal dynamics of Venus opposite Saturn, especially given that Venus is in Virgo, covering those last degrees where the recent solar eclipse took place on September 21.
Venus, opposite Saturn, is going to perfect between today, Friday, October 10 and tomorrow, Saturday, October 11, you will notice that Venus is then going to move through that anaretic degree between Sunday, October 12 and Monday, October 13. So we really are talking about a few more days of Venus moving through a very critical part of her development in the sign of virgo and the role that she played in the eclipse is sort of peaking right now.
Remember at the eclipse that we had on September 21 Venus was square to Uranus at that at the outset of the solar eclipse cycle, that moon cycle that we just began with solar eclipse. So now she's peaking as she leaves Virgo goes over the Eclipse degree and opposes Saturn.
We again broke this down on an archetypal level yesterday. So I highly recommend listening to that talk if you haven't yet, and pairing it with today's what we're going to do today is talk about the house access.
So you'll notice that Venus and Saturn for Aries rising on the ascendant. Here, in whole sign, Venus and Saturn are opposite one another in the sixth and 12th houses. Now, if we were to flip this and place Libra on the ascendant, then what you're going to notice is that Venus and Saturn are flipped, but across the same house axis.
So the way that I've done these today is to create a series of reflective questions to be asking yourself right now, based on the pairing of houses in a way that's interchangeable for either rising sign given the house access as a whole.
So what follows is going to be the Aries Libra pairing, the Taurus Scorpio pairing, the Gemini sag pairing. You can listen to these for either sign, and I'll make sure to mention that as we go.
On that note, let me get my notes pulled up. I think I have some really good questions that ought to be very useful that I spent a lot of time crafting. And this is a way for me, by the way, if you're like, why are you doing this? This is a way that I have of surviving what feels like the routine and monotony of horoscopes.
Coming up with interesting ways to frame and think about transits through horoscopes has been it's like an ongoing challenge, and I explained that actually, in a video I did not too long ago, talking about why I hate horoscopes, but do them anyway.
All right, let's do it. So I'm going to give you three questions for each sign pairing. So what follows? What we're starting with is going to be Aries and Libra. So if you are an Aries or a Libra rising, or if you listen for your sun sign, which is fine too. Then this one is for you, because Venus and Saturn are paired across the sixth and 12th houses.
And if you're a Libra, they simply flip. So these questions are designed for Venus and Saturn opposing one another across that house axis in general.
So the first question that I have for you, Aries and Libras out there is, how are duties health or service in daily life restricting the pleasure, happiness or sweetness that you long for, or Are duties health and service the daily activities helping to ground your pleasures in reality.
The reason for asking this question is quite simple across this house, axis, Venus and Saturn, opposing one another. Can be about the problems that we have experiencing pleasure or happiness or intimacy or sensuality or fulfillment all Venusian things, because we're not grounded, or we're not taking care of ourselves or or possibly we're having trouble finding pleasure due to things like overwork or duties and mundane things that are keeping us wrapped up in in exhaustion.
So questions right now around the daily grind, the daily activities, the daily acts of duty, service, self care, upkeep, maintenance, work, and how those things are connected to pleasure or happiness, looking closely at those kinds of things right now are important.
The second question that I have for the sixth and 12th house, access for all my Aries and Libra folk out there are, how are you reconciling the need for discipline and work with desire for retreat, freedom or release from obligation.
So the 12th house, sixth house access can also speak to the need to just relinquish all of the daily grinding activities, work, everything that is a part of the daily world of the sixth house, as opposed to say, some of the other worldly focus of the 12th so just broadly speaking, how is that work? A day world keeping you in certain patterns or rhythms, and what do you need to do to get out of that space so you can have retreat or solitude or some, some healthy level of detachment from the world?
On the other hand, are you so detached, or do you have a tendency to become un tethered? And is something trying to pull you into the world, into the body, into the daily work, into the daily upkeep.
Finally, the third question that I have for all Aries libre folk out there experiencing this across the sixth and 12th house axis is, are. What karmic lessons are coming up right now around sacrifice and health, work and service, and how are you balancing restraint and enjoyment within that kind of daily that that that daily activity, the sense that there is something larger that we need to be living for is very, 12th house.
The sense that there's something every day that's required of us obligations and duties, is very, sixth house. The way that they tend to work together best is when our daily work is aimed at something of higher or transcendent value. So what is worth sacrificing for, is a question that could be very valuable right now.
All right, so that's our first set of horoscopes. And what I'm going to do now is move along the axis, and we're going to shift to Taurus on the ascendant Scorpio in the seventh house, the Taurus Scorpio access places Venus and Saturn in the fifth and 11th houses.
Now, if you're a Scorpio, you're going to have Venus in the 11th. If you're a Taurus, you're going to have Venus in the fifth and Saturn in the 11th. So they again, they flip, but working with either end of that polarity.
Here are the questions that I've come up for you, if you're a Taurus or a Scorpio. The first question is, how are things like love, creativity, personal happiness and creative authenticity being tempered by the demands of Friends groups or other social realities, that's the fifth house being potentially restrained by the 11th or on the other hand, how is your own are your own personal creative needs tempering the demands On the other hand of the social world, that maybe you're receiving a lot of good things from right now.
So you can see how Venus in one versus Venus in the other could play out. The question becomes social conditioning, social belonging, collective or social needs and goals and concerns, things like colleagues, friends, social networks of people, and the relationship with your own creative essence, nature or fulfillment, and those two things are in a bit of tension.
They're experiencing tension with one another right now. Are you finding that romantic or artistic expression requires greater maturity and responsibility to be sustained. I like this because Venus and Saturn across these two houses may be about the need for artistic and personal creativity to become more serious or important somehow, to be more selective about what you create or how you create.
It to be more selective or careful or thoughtful about what kinds of people are, the right kinds of people or groups or communities for the purpose of sustaining or developing your creative voice. These become more serious considerations.
And then finally, what kinds of sacrifices or boundaries around children lovers or communities are calling you to perhaps redefine or or revise or reflect on the nature of joy and fulfillment.
So in other words, we have things like children and lovers and creativity in the fifth house, but we also have community and larger social realities in the 11th both are houses that are supposed to be very important, according to ancient astrologers, for the sake of happiness and fulfillment in life.
So if we think about creating better or healthier relationships, boundaries, bonds, reciprocal dynamics in both creative, personal, romantic spheres with children, but also with communities and groups, the broadest question we might be asking right now for Tauruses and Scorpios alike is what really gives me happiness and pleasure, and how do I refine and develop and shape my life so that the things that really bring me joy and happiness are being amplified and that could work its way into a number of different spheres of life, again, like children, romance, lovers, creativity, social settings, social scenes or communities.
All right, so those are some of the meditative questions that I came up with for Taurus Scorpio.
All right, so the next one that we're going to do is Gemini and Sagittarius. So for Gemini and Sagittarius, the Venus Saturn dynamic moves into your fourth and 10th house. Venus in the fourth Saturn in the 10th for Geminis, Venus in the 10th Saturn in the fourth for Sagittarians. Either way, I have a couple of questions cooked up for you.
One, are you being asked to choose between domestic harmony or private personal happiness, comfort, ease, security, safety and or the duties and sacrifices required in your public and professional life.
So you can almost feel like the tension between wanting to move ahead professionally, wanting to connect and collaborate professionally, wanting to become more successful or better at what you do professionally, versus the need for inner private peace, happiness, rest harmony on the home front, happiness with family, marriage, children, all of those kinds of things could be at odds with one another.
So the question becomes like, Are you being asked to choose between kind of the domestic sphere or the public and professional sphere right now? What are the most important factors to be weighing thinking about those things, even sitting down and taking some time to journal about the different burdens or pressures that are coming up for you right now around these topics.
All right, so for next question on my list is there are two different kinds of legacies that may be vying for your time or your attention, the legacy of home and family. What are you building on the inner private level of your life, the people who will love you until you probably you die someday, the people that you'll spend every evening with when you get home from the office, the inner private sphere of life demands attention and development, and there's a legacy that we're building there about the people we loved and the devotion that we shared and showed in a more intimate sphere of life, versus the legacy that we're maybe thinking about leaving behind in the greater world, in our profession or in our public role.
And so how are concerns over long term legacy or impact being weighed, or how are they conflicting with one another right now?
Finally, what responsibilities are vying for attention between work and home, like, if there's a sense of obligation or duty or responsibility in work versus at home and family, how are they pulling you in different directions right now, how are you balancing those obligations or responsibilities so you can, you can kind of feel the way that there these themes are working together, but could create some tension as well.
All right, let's move to Cancer and Capricorn. So putting cancer or cap on the ascendant, we're going to get Venus and Saturn across the third and the ninth house axis.
So the question that I have and remember, if you're a cap, Venus will be in the ninth. If you're a cancer, Venus is in the third. How are you balancing the reality of your emotional, mental and everyday psychic environment. Very third house, against the call to be thinking about higher things.
The ninth house, the everyday world we live in, mental, emotional, intellectual, psychological environment of our mind body, kind of like the village that we live in, the ecosystem that is familiar to us and most present on a day to day level, could be experiencing a kind of split right now, with a call to be concerned with or to learn about higher things, to study truth, to go back to school, to be thinking about religion and philosophy, and why am I here, and what's the meaning of it all.
And so the third house is really kind of like your feet on the street, and the ninth house is a bit like your shoes are coming off before you're entering the ashram. So how, how is your mindset being pulled between two different worlds, both very important, more immediate, local, physical, emotional, psychological and on the other hand, much maybe loftier and intellectual or philosophical.
I also wonder about the pursuit of truth and learning and what are you feeling like? What kinds of value clashes are coming up for you? What kinds of doubts, what kinds of relational tensions with respect to beliefs, these would be appropriate for Venus and Saturn opposing one another across this house access.
How are conflicts? Over value or belief coming up in friendships, relationships, even among things like siblings. How are sibling tensions or relationships coming up in general? Could be consideration as well.
And then last but not least, I wonder about the balance between everyday skills and abilities and higher, loftier pursuits that in some ways, aren't as tethered to this world. Let me give you an example. So many times when people come to study astrology at Nightlight, they're like, Well, I don't know if this is worthwhile, because I don't know if I'm ever going to be like a practicing professional, and so that third house concern with, is this a practical skill, some tangible asset to my everyday life, versus is this just kind of like, you know, studying something that is very Interesting and mystical but has no worldly application?
The the question or concern with higher things and kind of worldly things in, in in dialog, and how practical or useful is it in or how can I take something of maybe a higher, higher pursuit, something that is calling to me as a matter of spirituality, but I don't know you know how it translates into my everyday life.
Yet questions like that become really important, and bringing the dharma of the ninth house into the everyday world of the third is also very important. Like, how do I make higher truth applicable in a day to day kind of way.
Okay, so those are some of the things on my mind right now for cancers and Capricorns across the third and the ninth house access.
All right, we're going to move on next to Leo and Aquarius. So we move Leo and Aquarius, or moves Venus and sat, Venus and Saturn into the second or the eighth. So they'll be flipped, depending on if you're a Leo or Aquarius, rising Leo Venus in the second, Aquarius Venus will be in the eighth. But either way, that second eighth house tension is coming up right now.
Questions that I have would be about, how do you balance obligations, duties, responsibilities to other people in relationships, looking at the appropriate level of give and take and exchange value, what am I getting? What am I giving? Almost like evaluating the terms of a soul contract or any kind of contract. I guess they're all soul contracts, in a way.
How are you learning to temper pleasure, luxury, spending a you know? How are you managing assets and resources and demonstrating some level of moderation or restraint versus how are you allowing yourself to desire, to spend, to enjoy, to let loose, to let go of inhibitions or even restrictiveness in your thinking that You have around things like pleasure, enjoyment, resources, spending, sharing with other people, etc.
Also, I would look at giving and withholding patterns, emotionally, spiritually, physically, financially, in relationships. The pattern of, I have a lot to give, but I'm not receiving enough. So giving, receiving, withholding support or giving support. Questions about self sufficiency, trust in relationships around the give and take. Of things that really comes to my mind.
Okay. Finally, we're going on to the Virgo Pisces axis. Last but not least. So Virgo Pisces, we place this across the first and the seventh house. This is the house of self and other.
How? Question that you have in either direction, of course, Pisces will have this in the seventh Venus in the seventh. Virgo as Venus in the first Saturn in the seventh so it's flipped either way.
First question that I have is, how are you balancing your desire for love and companionship with the need to protect or preserve independence and selfhood? Very basic first seventh house kind of question. You can see it going in either direction, more selfhood, less dependence. Less selfhood, more dependence, but probably one or the other direction is coming up right now.
What expectations and duties exist in your relationships and how are they being reflected on, revised, deepened? There's an obligation that we have to ourselves. There's an obligation that we have. To others, and we're always balancing the two. It's like always being calibrated and recalibrated in relationships, and this might be an important time for that recalibration.
Are you facing lessons about what you find attractive or appealing and what you do not? Are there serious clashes going on with respect to things like love, beauty, pleasure, taste, sexuality, intimacy, just basic questions of compatibility.
This is a potential flashpoint for relationships across that access for both Virgo and Pisces, where you know, if there's not enough attraction to carry us, us through, sometimes these transits make us just sort of painfully aware of the fact that there's just not enough in common here.
On the other hand, sometimes it takes a little work and effort and compromise, and these transits can also make us sort of beautifully aware of what work needs to be done for a good thing to stay a good thing anyway.
So some hopefully useful questions to consider as we're heading into a Venus Saturn weekend. Much love to everyone. I hope you have a good weekend after I sign off right now, there's an informational video about the year one program.
Come study with us. When you study at Nightlight, you're getting a lineage and a community. You're getting a very structured approach to ancient astrology, but you're getting a bridge to modern psychological forms of astrology.
All of our curriculum, there's four years of it, but the first year program really sets the base. And even if you only take that program, it really gives you the ability to speak the language at a much deeper level, understanding the why behind everything, once you have the why behind everything, and you understand the philosophical roots of the whole language, your ability to be intuitive and artistic and creative.
As an astrologer, using this language in your everyday life, whether you see clients or not, transforms profoundly so anyway, I hope that encourages you to check it out, and I hope you have a great weekend. We'll see you again on Monday. Bye, everyone.
