Venus and Pluto Intensity This Week — Horoscopes

Happy Monday, everybody. Today we're going to take a look at the upcoming opposition that's forming this week between Venus and Pluto. Venus-Pluto dynamics are very intense. They tend to steal the show astrologically whenever they come up, any Pluto combination tends to steal the show.

I want to talk a little bit about what makes this aspect so dynamic, so important. Also, what you can actually look forward to from this transit, because sometimes I think we only tend to cover the bad or negative or fearful stuff, the anxiety-provoking stuff, when it comes to Pluto.

So, we'll try to shed some positive light on this combination, while also highlighting what makes it so dynamic and often intense. But more specifically, we're going to look at horoscopes today, looking at the oppositional houses.

So we'll run this in terms of the pairs of houses that go together with pairs of rising signs, for example, Aries, Libra, Libra, Aries. We'll do it like that, and give you some things to watch for. So, that's our agenda for the day.

It's worth mentioning that the new moon came through yesterday in Gemini, but the story of the week, really, as we sit here on Monday, June 15, is going to be the powerful aspect that's forming between Venus and Pluto. Now, this dynamic is, can see it right? Are we going to behave epic fan. There we go.

So you can see Venus opposing Pluto, and if I speed this up, you're going to see that the two planets come through their exact opposition by Wednesday, June 17. So that's just two days from now.

I should mention that I am the schedule at which I record, I'm having some of our guests from the monthly overview team, the bonus weekend wisdom team, the horoscope team fill in for me a few days this week while we are currently in Mexico leading our retreat. You might have remembered me advertising that a while ago.

So between Tuesday and Thursday, you're going to see some guests on the show this week. And Bianca and Courtney will be covering the Venus Pluto opposition as well on Wednesday, so you're going to get double content on this this week, but from totally different perspectives.

Today we want to look at horoscopes and give you the pairing of the two planets across house axes, but what I want to do first is just talk about why this aspect is so powerful, and give you a little bit of background before we get into those horoscopes.

Venus obviously naturally signifies things like love and attraction, pleasure and affection, beauty, harmony, relational bonds, and Pluto is going to intensify, deepen, transform, purge. It has a destructive and regenerative quality that comes when it touches other planets.

So relationships don't usually remain unchanged or unscathed by these dynamics, or sex, or pleasure, or beauty, or art, or the feminine, or things like women, sisters, daughters, love, sexuality, intimacy usually tends toward greater depth and gravity, and the psychological emotional consequences are a lot higher, or they kind of reach peak intensity when these two planets get together.

Venus Pluto combinations are also known for creating like magnetic and like compulsive or obsessive connections, where you just desire something very intensely, and it almost possesses or consumes you. So Venus-Pluto can be associated with powerful sex drive, or chemistry, or fascination, or longing, or almost like an emotional magnetism that just draws you into something that you're attracted to, but it can be a bit like a moth to the flame in that respect as well.

Often things that happen in relationships around these times feel fated and rather intense. So the things that we feel irresistibly drawn toward are our teachers during transits like this. Now the other things that can become a lot more intense are the shadows of Venus, which tend to be possessiveness, jealousy, lust, manipulation, secrecy, infidelity, desires that entangle and consume and undermine us.

So the kinds of attachments that come up can be really problematic, and there's some kind of healing that has to occur sometimes when these two planets get together. Also, Pluto will uncover things that have been buried or denied or repressed, so with Venus, hidden longings, unspoken emotional needs, taboo desires, conflicted desires that come to the surface.

And the question is, what do I really want? What do I really need? What am I really attracted to? Is it good for me? Is it not good for me? I've noticed that Venus-Pluto combinations will often coincide with the darkening of beautiful things, too. If you're really attached to a rug, your dog's definitely going to crap on it.

When Venus and Pluto oppose, that's just the kind of thing that happens. I'm mostly teasing, but no, I mean, Venus-Pluto will create these profound catalysts for personal evolution that run through Venus, and that can be about getting in touch with unconscious fears or desires and attachments, really.

And there's something about Pluto that pushes Venus beyond her normal comfort zone, where things are pleasant, polite, flowy, harmonious, enjoyable, satisfying, and pleasant. Venus is pleasant, not when she's in touch with Pluto. There's a side of pleasure that isn't always pleasant.

I think of this classic Venus-Pluto example is the 50 Shades of Gray phenomenon, where everyone suddenly got obsessed with this book. It's because it speaks to things that we need that are more complicated around love and pleasure. Any kind of weak relational structures that are holding something superficially nice but at a deeper level lacking substance can come up.

Anything around beauty or art or creativity can be suffused with tremendous emotional depth, darker, richer, more edgy, spicier, where longing and mortality and grief and taboo mix with beauty and danger. So there's a lot of gravity and depth that Venus suddenly gets into.

That's why when Venus and Pluto come together, love is not going to be just polite and decorative and pleasant. Again, that word comes to my mind. Relationships become the driving force of revelation, of evolution, of change, of transformation, of hidden currents beneath things that have to be addressed or that have to move very powerfully.

They have the power to really change us, so that's why these transits tend to be so dramatic. Of all the talks I've done in my career as an astrologer, I will tell you right now that there is no talk I've ever done, a webinar, that has sold more and sold more over the longest period of time.

Initially it sold the most, and over time it has sold the most. That is a talk I did on my webinar page. You can find it on the shop page called Pluto in Love, and it's all about relationship transits that involve Pluto. Still the most purchased webinar I've ever done. There's a reason for that.

There's a saying: love me little, but love me long. A lot of us will say something like, well, this is enough, there's nothing really wrong with what's happening. So we say it's enough, it lasts, it's enduring, it's stable, it's good, it's not bad. But Venus-Pluto says it might need to be a little bad to be good.

Or it might need to be a little more than okay to be good, and that is dangerous, because that can destabilize a good thing in favor of a more exciting thing. But that more exciting thing is not guaranteed to be more substantive or to last longer.

Venus-Pluto is always propositioning us with a what-if alternate storyline or parallel interest, not just in love, but in anything, in ourselves. The need to tap into what is most fertile and rich and life-giving and generative in our lives also brings pleasure and a degree of satisfaction for many of us.

The definition of youth is in some ways to be more in touch with that. You get to about midlife, later in life, it's very well documented that we start choosing things that are a little bit more comfortable and predictable. Venus-Pluto is saying, you always have to have room for this edgier, more compulsive, obsessive, fanatical, pleasure-driven intensity.

If you don't make room for it, it will wedge its way into your life in ways that are often complicated, so watch out. So what I want to do now is we're going to do some pairings of horoscopes, and I want to give you a feel for where this might be coming into your birth chart.

Now, we're going to pair these together, which means you can listen for either sign in the pair, because all we're doing is flipping houses in opposite directions for the opposition. So we'll effectively have six pairs that we'll look at.

I want to start with Aries and Libra, which is exactly the same but flipped houses. Venus will be, for example, with Aries and Libra, we have Venus in the fifth, Pluto in the 11th. Flip it to Libra, and we would have Venus in the 11th, Pluto in the fifth.

So what we're going to do is talk about this dyad of houses in a way that either sign could listen to. The tension between these two areas of life will be fundamental for either sign. That's the best way to understand it.

This is a fun way to do horoscopes too, because you can really see how the two house topics inverted often bring up very similar dynamics regardless. And that's because we're just dealing with opposites. So let's start off. You can listen to this for your sun or your rising sign.

Let's talk about Venus and Pluto and the force of change that they're bringing across the house pairings. So for Aries or Libra, you're going to find this in your fifth or 11th or 11th or fifth. For Aries, it's Venus in the fifth, Pluto in the 11th. For Libra, it's Venus in the 11th, Pluto in the fifth.

Either way, what we're dealing with here is a house of comma in the 11th house, defined as social happiness, socially defined versions of happiness and success and fulfillment that are communal, social, professional, out in the world.

So whether that's popularity or influence or prestige or notoriety or success or a feeling of community belonging or vision for life that's supported by people of like mind, whatever it may be. Social happiness found in the 11th and in the fifth house is a dharma house.

The fifth has to do with the sense of being individually fulfilled by our own creative nature. Your creative nature is your romance, your sexuality, your charm, your intelligence, how you are expressing yourself creatively in your life and experiencing joy and happiness through it.

So what we're talking about for either Aries or Libra is the tension that's being felt right now between creative essence and collective participation or collective belonging and happiness. The two are creating this almost like a schism in you.

One part says, in order to feel happy, I need to feel a strong sense of social belonging. But on the other hand, I feel the impulse to create in a direction that's maybe more provocative or leaves me as more of an outsider, or is not as acceptable to other people.

So social participation and creative essence are clashing with one another right now. Where you fit in, where you belong, where your creative gifts can participate in the world, and where you also can feel a sense of belonging, community at homeness, social happiness and ease.

Those two things are in direct oppositional dialogue and conflict, but the conflict can be very creative. So let's see what happens there if you're an Aries or Libra. All right, we move to Taurus and Scorpio, where we have Venus in the fourth if you're a Taurus and Pluto in the 10th.

If you're a Scorpio, it's going to be Venus in the 10th and Pluto in the fourth. Either way, for these two rising signs, we have the tension existing across the 10th and the fourth house. The 10th house is going to be the place of arta.

That means work in the world, power and influence, prestige and mastery, notoriety, fame, success, your vocation, career direction, or what you are known for, or how people visibly see you in the world relative to your role or social positioning in society.

On the other hand, we have the fourth house, a Moksha house, which has to do with the resting place, home, family, roots, domestic life, your bedroom, the comfort of your own room, the privacy and interior space of warmth, connection, emotional safety, and bondedness.

That family or home or living environment ideally provide us with a shelter from the world. The two are in intense dialogue right now. The need for privacy, home rest, and an interior life set aside in private and protected from the world is also being drawn into acute conflict.

Or dialogue or creative tension with the impulse to show up in the world to receive success, or to be part of the conversation about what's happening in the workplace or your field or industry. There might be peak moments of professional change or accomplishment.

Or even workplace drama that's in sharp contrast with the need for peace, belonging, or stability at home. It could be that things happening at work or in your vocation are bringing a lot of happiness or pleasure or recognition, whereas there are tremendous forces of change.

And the pressures of evolutionary transformation in the home and family. So either way, you can see how the private sphere of life and the public sphere are in a very intense dialogue right now for Taurus and Scorpio. So think about that dynamic for your rising sign.

All right, we move to the Gemini Sagittarius axis. If you're a Gemini rising, Venus is in your third and Pluto is in your ninth. If you're a Sagittarius rising, we flip that and put Venus in the ninth and Pluto in the third.

Either way, here we're talking about a house in the ninth that was called God and a house in the third that was called Goddess. We're talking about the objective, philosophical, big picture metaphysics of the ninth house, and the environment of your ego, your mind.

And your everyday animal reality of being an embodied human being with your own mind and intellect, your own opinions, your own subjective center of reality. These two things are in a very intense dialogue at the moment, which might be asking you, for example, how are your beliefs shifting your psychology?

How are relationships being changed or transformed by intellectual divides or ideological conflicts? I believe something very different than my friend or my sister or my sibling. I'm having some conflict in an educational setting where whatever makes me unique as a person could put me at odds with some higher principles.

For example, if you belong to a church or religious or spiritual community, and you speak out about something that's your own idea not necessarily in line with the doctrine or dogma, you might be labeled a heretic. On the other hand, if you perpetually resist the opportunity to think for yourself.

And tend to just fall in line with dogmas or doctrines, or you always look for someone else to be the authority, this could be a transit that asks you to take more accountability or responsibility for your own mind, your own thoughts, coming to your own conclusions, integrating them, walking your talk.

Either way, we're talking about mental, intellectual transformation, spiritual and philosophical work alongside the integration of your own unique subjective center of reference, your own unique ego. How does higher truth and personal truth come into dialogue?

How are you expressing or conveying things and communicating things? What kinds of intellectual or mental perceptual conflicts are occurring in your relationships right now that might be crucial? So that's for Geminis and Sages across that axis.

Let's go to Cancer and Capricorn. We get Venus and Pluto across the second and eighth house axis. That's going to be an Arta house and a Moksha house. So Arta and Moksha speak to the material world and all the concerns that constitute surviving, building wealth, developing assets.

Material security and livelihood, and on the other hand, relinquishing attachments that bind us to material energy and keep us dense and heavy. The eighth house, like all the Moksha houses, is essentially about liberating us spiritually from unhealthy attachments and entanglements.

So we look at this as an opportunity to be released in some significant way from attachments materially and psychologically. That means certain relationships or contracts may need to change or transform, debts may need to be paid off.

Relationships, duties, structures, obligations, responsibilities within relationships may need to be revisited, revised, and reconsidered. There's a lot of reason there. So the other thing that can happen is a transformation of money, assets, material resources can dramatically impact who and what you're aligning yourself with.

Joining yourself to or sharing something with someone. So how are relationships and bonds being forged or reforged in the fires of transformation taking place right now? Relationship dynamics around things like assets, resources, and possessions are key.

That could be psychological and emotional as well. It's the give and take and the search for karmic reciprocity. So that's Cancer, Capricorn. You're going to have Pluto in the second, Venus in the eighth. All right, let's go on to Leo and Aquarius.

Leo and Aquarius puts this in the first and seventh. If you're an Aquarius, Pluto is in the first and Venus is in the seventh. Either way, we're talking about dharma and karma again. Individual essence, individual nature, the duty we have to being ourselves and inhabiting ourselves authentically.

To developing character, to developing selfhood, to our own body and our own autonomous vehicle. On the other hand, we are here to love and be loved, to share and to be evolved by the mirroring and intimacy of our relationships.

So the combination of these two planets across this axis speaks to I'm transforming, so we transform, we're transforming, in which case I transform the self. The other axis is so straightforward in terms of the types of things it brings up in either direction.

As I'm evolving personally and transforming in deep, powerful ways, my relationships are naturally responding and asking for more compromise or more flexibility, or some relationships have to go. This transformation I've gone through leads me to feeling more attractive and meeting someone new.

If you have Venus in the first house, then there's a strong magnetism you feel, a strong sense of self-love and confidence, that shiny Venus in Leo in the first. But the pull from the seventh might be to be transformed, or to consider things outside of yourself.

To consider collective dimensions of reality, or to consider others, or something that transcends the self of Venus in Leo in the first. It could be that a partnership is reaching a point where, in order for you to feel really healthy and good, you've got to let it go.

Because there's just too much friction. Whatever the case might be. Self and other, that's the axis. All right, now let's go to our last pairing, which is Virgo and Pisces. For this pairing, we take the two most difficult houses in a way, the 12th and the sixth.

Venus in the 12th, Pluto in the sixth if you're a Virgo rising. If you're a Pisces rising, it's going to be Pluto in the 12th, Venus in the sixth. Either way, we have Moksha and we have Arta. The Arta house of the sixth has to do with struggle, sacrifice, effort.

Work, perseverance, labor, the sense of duty, the daily grind, as well as the upkeep necessary to build anything, to stay well, to stay healthy. On the other hand, the 12th house is this place that we visit that reminds us that our ego is temporary, the universe is transcendental and eternal.

Moksha means liberation from ourselves, from the limitations of ourself that often create illusions or unconsciousness. So we're talking about that 20,000 foot view of life, eternity, reality that often comes during really hard, difficult periods.

When you're going through something difficult and you're a spiritual person, it's always reminding you, yes to impermanence, yes to suffering, yes to everything being temporal and limited, yes to having to surrender, to having to accept these things in order to grow and change.

We have to learn to let things go, and to know when work and effort and dedication and sacrifice and the hard labor of those kinds of things are necessary for something bigger than ourselves. But on the other hand, we also have to know when it's time to just let go.

Stop trying too hard to push or force something that's just exhausting us. That could be around relationships or love or work or family. There's a critical moment of looking at the transcendental picture. How can a bigger picture orient the hard stuff of daily life?

How can the hard stuff of daily life pull us into almost like a greater devotion or dedication to something outside of ourselves? So either way, very powerful stuff happening though. A bit of a healing cathartic, more of a cathartic healing transformational space for that 12th and sixth.

More than maybe any of the other signs, because the stuff that comes up is often deeply unconscious and requires some real effort. It's not easy to do that kind of work, but for Virgos and Pisces the trade-off is that when you do that work, you really get to see growth.

There's a sense of having put something into the sacrificial fire of life when those oppositions come through 12 and six. Anyway, that's what I've got for today. I hope this was a useful dive into the house pairings.

Which is a question I get asked all the time. First of all, I would say that the way you know you're ready to study astrology at a deeper level and take a more serious class is that it doesn't just feel like curiosity any longer.

It feels like something that you can't stop thinking about, or a way of seeing the world and viewing your experiences that you constantly think about, or almost like a filter that you experience life through. If you are often thinking about fate and free will, purpose, meaning.

If you tend to see and understand and experience symbolism in everyday events all of the time. These are some of the key things that I've noticed generally start happening for people when they might be ready to study astrology more seriously.

Some people don't just like astrology. There's a call to study it. There's a call for it to be a primary spiritual form of practice, or maybe even professional practice. I want to talk about who this is right for. People who want to go deeper.

Not just memes, not just horoscopes, not just taking in content passively, but for people who love symbolism, who love myth, who love divination, who want a structured path with a stable lineage. Lots of students have come through our programs.

Our programs have helped build many professional careers at this point in the larger field of astrology. If you feel a little bit overwhelmed with trying to weed or sort through all of the information that's out there on your own, beginners are absolutely welcome.

With no prior experience, because we start from the ground up. At the same time, people who already have a background and are more intermediate or advanced but have not yet gone through a structured study of ancient Hellenistic astrology, ancient philosophy, and the ancient practices and techniques of this craft.

You're going to be starting in the same place that beginners are at. Your background in astrology will help you tremendously, but this is a program that is ideally for total beginners or people who are new to Hellenistic astrology and have never gotten that traditional background.

I want to talk about what you're going to learn in the program. You're going to learn the foundations of ancient traditional astrology, starting with some history, some basic astronomy, and philosophy to help you really understand what is karma, what is fate, what is destiny.

What is divination? What is the epistemological mode of understanding that ancient people were living in? They were living, for example, in an animistic sense of the cosmos that they thought spoke through the oracle of the planets and stars. What does that mean for us today?

Where does the study of fate, destiny, karma, the evolution of the soul play into all of this? Transmigration, reincarnation. We really try to set a strong philosophical foundation, and from there we move through the primary components of the language.

Planets, signs, houses, and then the different ways in which those features interact with each other through things like aspects, dignity, accidental and essential dignity. Then we start tying things together through interpretive methodology.

All of this is something that, if you have a background in modern astrology, that'll help you. But this is also a whole other level of seriousness and specific craft-based ideas that are unique to Hellenistic astrology. Everything we do at Nightlight incorporates a modern psychological and archetypal perspective.

My background is also in modern evolutionary astrology, and I have a background in Indian philosophy and yoga. So you're going to find that there's a little bit of a cauldron of different spiritual and philosophical backgrounds that are present, even though our main focus is Hellenistic.

You're going to learn about ancient techniques, but you're also going to learn how to apply them in the modern world we live in today. How does the course work logistically? Let's talk about that for a second. It's a year-long container.

There are live classes, there are also recordings, so if you can't make it live, you can follow along with anything at your own pace. In fact, you have a couple of years in which to work before you would have to submit an exam.

The exam itself is optional only for people who are seeking certification because you're interested in practicing professionally. We have discussion forums, discussion in and outside of class year round. We have tutors on staff who also lead breakout sessions for review.

Between our major units of study. So there's 30 classes on the year, and then there's about six breakout study sessions, give or take. Those study sessions are there to help complement the work we do in class. You can go at your own pace.

Toward the end of the program, we have a lot of practice sessions that are meant to work through charts together. Those also feature live readings with real clients, so you can see what a day in the life of practice looks like for me as a practitioner.

And see all the things we're studying applied with real people in a real live setting. The thing to me that's most important is why study here, right? Why study with me and our staff? It has to do with fit. If you love this channel.

You're going to have a deeper understanding of the cycles of your own life and working with astrology in your own life. But most profoundly, people tend to come out of this program feeling spiritually transformed, feeling healed.

Feeling like they have a spiritual path in life that will last them for the rest of their lives. When astrology becomes a daily living spiritual practice, then you know that you've really learned something. That is the way that astrology is always intended to be learned.

To accompany you as a spiritual path in life. This is absolutely huge, and this is to me the biggest payoff of studying at Nightlight. You're being grounded in a tradition and a lineage that features a strong technical predictive element, but also a counseling tool.
