What if the sudden shift in your values, the abrupt turn in a relationship, or the jarring change in your creative rhythm isn't a disruption—but a necessary release?

In this episode, we explore the exact square between Venus in Capricorn and stationing Uranus in Taurus. This is more than a fleeting aspect; it's a culminating moment in a longer cycle of material and relational revolution. As Uranus prepares to leave Taurus, this square acts as a final exam for your attachments, asking what structures of the heart and resources must be released to make space for genuine freedom.
This celestial friction isn't about chaos for its own sake, but about liberating a form of creativity or love that has outgrown its old container. It asks you to examine where your sense of worth, pleasure, or connection has become rigidly defined, and to courageously allow a break in the pattern.
True liberation in love and creativity often arrives not as a gentle opening, but as a necessary rupture. The Venus-Uranus square doesn't destroy what you value; it shatters the confinement around it, revealing that your heart's deepest expression was always meant to be more fluid, more authentic, and less afraid of its own surprising rhythm.

Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we are taking a look at Venus moving into a square with Uranus. Venus is in the late degrees of Aquarius. Uranus is in the late degrees of Taurus. There's a little reception baked in there with Uranus being in Venus's sign. Both of these planets are culminating in the final degrees of their fixed signs. So it's a pretty dynamic square, and one of a number of squares that's happening from planets in late Aquarius to Uranus before it leaves Taurus.
So we will also see Mars go through this square. We'll see the sun go through the square. We just today, as you're listening to this mercury is finishing its square to Uranus as well. So what I want to do today is give you that kind of standard five things to watch for archetypal list. I also want to reflect briefly on the final decans of both signs and their meanings, because, in case you don't know it, this year, I'm doing a masterclass on the decan. So they've been on my mind a lot.
And I thought, yeah, this would be a good time to refresh on some of the decanic imagery and meaning of the last decade of Aquarius and the last decade of Taurus, which could also be dialoguing right now. So that's our goal for the day. Remember to like and subscribe if you listen to this channel regularly. A part of how we grow as a company, as a business, how I support a staff of people, is through the people who watch regularly. Clicking subscribe if you haven't yet done that, but you watch regularly. It helps us so much, so we really appreciate it.
You can find transcripts of any of these daily talks on the website that's Nightlight astrology.com I'm going to take you over there to show you just a couple of things, and then we'll get rolling. Head over to the events page if you want to join us. Weekdays, Monday through Saturday, 830 Central, 930 Easter, and we meet for 20 minutes of daily meditation in the mornings. To start our days. I'm providing this as a nice it's a nice time with Saturn meeting Neptune to start a spiritual practice.
I keep saying the clay is wet. Leave an impression fired up in the kiln. You'll have a spiritual practice that'll stick a lot longer than you'd think, because the timing is so nice. So that's why we're meeting right now, but also just to provide a safe space for processing a lot of things that are going on on Sundays. We also meet 11:30am Eastern, 1030 Central, you know, just to process in a group together. It's all free. The Zoom links there, the passwords there.
Click on live talks, you'll see that my talk for the month of February is on the 19th. Psychedelics and astrology. Why they so often intertwine. You register for that talk, you can join the webinar, and then if you can't attend live, you get the recording afterward. Either way, our retreat to Mexico still has spots open in June. If you want to join us for an immersive retreat at a beautiful resort in Mexico, we're going there. It's like a yoga yoga resort type of place. But check that out.
And then, if you go to the readings, need based astrology readings offer tiered pricings to fit your budget. With our staff, I do horary readings, so you can check those out there as well. Okay, I think that's it. Year three, starting this month master class on the deccans. Not too late to join our guild membership. Not too late to join. Check those things out into the Courses page as well. Alrighty, let's take a look at the real time clock. What do we have? What do we have? Okay, hold on.
My epic pen is gone, unless it was missing somewhere, and then it won't draw a line for me. Let's see if it will. So here is Nope. I knew it. It's missing somewhere. Okay, hold on. Okay, there we go. So we have Venus moving into the square with Uranus. You can see it's about three degrees away today, Thursday, February, 5, while the square from mercury that we talked about yesterday is just now perfecting and finishing up Venus is going to hit that exact square on Sunday.
It'll be late Saturday that you'll feel it into Sunday morning, for sure. But that really means that between now and Sunday, within that three degree range, you're going to start noticing the symbolism appearing in your life as above, so below. So when these two planets get within three degrees, you're you're about to get your planetary freak on. That is, that's Venus Uranus. That means I have five things to watch for. Not all just about the kink, though. That's one of the that's one of the really fun parts about Venus square, Uranus. Let's talk about it.
Got five things to watch for given this square, first and foremost are what we will call value reversals. But before we talk about value reversals, let's talk about that word value. There are some words in astrology that make me want to scratch my nails on a chalkboard. That's one of them, values. Ooh, your values will change. It is talked about so generically, unfortunately conflated with the second house, though it has very little to do with the second house. Traditionally, you. Often associated with Venus and Taurus and but what does this word mean?
And first of all, let me just say something in ancient astrology, every sign can talk about things like values. Every sign can talk about emotions, every every sign can talk about sensuality or different aspects of life and psychology, it's almost always wrong to describe something as generic as as value, and, you know, ascribe it to one sign like it's value belongs to Taurus. This way of thinking astrologically, is not it's not okay. You could tell how much it pisses me off. Anyway. Why do I take myself so seriously? I don't know, because it's part of my values.
Value means in the etymological roots of the word, whether you trace it back through the Latin, back to the Greek, the equivalents are things like time and worth respect and price, honor and merit. So it's interesting, because in the ancient world, if we were to relate Venus to this idea of value in the Greek sense, it would essentially stem from the fact that things are not only true, but they also are beautiful. That was a link philosophically that was made by ancient Greek philosophers all the time, right understanding what is true is fundamentally connected to understanding what is beautiful.
And this is why, whenever we talk about the Renaissance, we're talking about in in history, historically speaking, we're talking about a return to that kind of interdisciplinary world of ancient Greece where math and music were part of the same way of looking at the world art and painting and sculpture, and you know, things like plays and poetry were connected to astronomy. It's beautiful, isn't it? I mean, I think most of us who are interested in astrology still sort of in habitat, in habitat inhabit a kind of like Renaissance worldview.
But what value really gets down to is, first of all, it's subjective. What we call valuable can be incredibly superficial and vain and shallow and not particularly intelligent, right? So, but what we're getting at when we talk about the kind of gnosis of this word value is really how something gleams with the beauty of its inner worth, how something gleams and shines, because there is a truth and a beauty in it at the same time. And what we value in everyday life, as we grow spiritually, is always evolving to reflect an understanding of those things that are not just beautiful, but true, and that, the the more we get down to, you know, kind of the bottom of things this, this is something's essence, and that essence is why it is so attractive and beautiful that you can't separate The two, right?
As opposed to what most of these wisdom traditions from around the world have told us lacks value, are things that are merely superficial but have no substance. But the word value has always been connected, at least etymologically, to that quality of something that makes it more than what it appears to be. It's, it's a it's, you know, when you see someone really beautiful, and it's coming at a stage in life where you've grown a lot spiritually, the beauty you see in them stems inseparably from the vibration of wisdom or peace or depth that you feel in that person, as opposed to say, an earlier stage in life, where you know we're all growing, you know we we don't know so much, and what we will find ourselves attracted to is very, very different, sometimes very shallow.
This is why people who marry younger are statistically shown to divorce more likely than if you marry significantly older. There's still a high divorce rate in general. But what that says to me is not so much that young people are foolish, but that values evolve. That value evolves from this ancient philosophical standpoint, means that how we come to see the connection between essence and appearance grows. It grows in sophistication and maturity over long periods of time. Thank God too. You know, it's like, man, the kind of stuff I was, God, I remember. I won't even go into it.
I have some ridiculous images in my head right now that are just too embarrassing to speak the kinds of things. That I thought were really attractive or cool when I was like, I don't know, 17 or 18 or just embarrassing. Now that's the short end of it. There's some things that I've always liked that I still like that I think are, you know, probably still you know that the so it's not like anything and everything you find value in when you're young is shallow or superficial, either.
The reason that I'm having this conversation right now in relation to Venus and Uranus is because when these two planets get together, what's so cool is how suddenly something that you've been looking at but not recognizing as beautiful, attractive, wise and interesting will suddenly appear that way, because your value, the way you understand value, is evolving. Similarly, things that you had assigned ugly can become attractive. Things that you thought were attractive can become ugly. The value reversals are natural to Venus Uranus connections, because there's a quick illumination of things that have been bound or limited or held back in understanding or wisdom or truth related to how we evaluate something's attractiveness its value, which means, how do we judge its appearance relative to its substance?
That's the meaning of value philosophically dating back 1000s of years within this, the tradition that holds the this kind of language. So again, like Venus Uranus, wherever, wherever you've been a little shallow, we're all going to get a little wake up call, and we can see something beautiful or interesting that maybe we couldn't see before, or something that we thought was really spectacular, turns out, is a little a little empty. Those kinds of reversals, as well as just being startled or surprised by the new things that we may find attractive or valuable.
Keeping in mind that with Uranus, it's always about a revolution in our understanding of how external beauty, pleasure, attractiveness, mirrors or matches with internal truth. All right, that was a long, winding conversation. You feel like the mercury square to Uranus is still there. Okay. Well, anyway, there's certain days where I just, you know, I just feel like I am an imposter. Oh, it's so true. Okay. Anyway, so number two relationship shock waves are so textbook, Venus Uranus. Venus is love. Venus is connection. Venus is harmony.
But imagine now that what you are attracted to in another human and how harmony is maintained with another human. Boy, it goes through a shake up when your values change. One person might want more space or experimentation or non traditional structures, all because they're going through a process of their values, how they assess what is meaningful, beautiful, true, desirable and attractive in relation to actual wisdom, evolutionary, you know, wisdom that's unfolding because of your spiritual growth, because of that, those insights and those changes of values, you may want more space or independence or experimentation or non traditional structure, or where there hasn't been reliability, touch rhythm or shared resources, that may actually be the revolution.
And you want more of those things. It doesn't have to go in some superficial looking direction of freedom or independence with Uranus, it's not like that. It has to do with a revolution out of habits, out of established norms and patterns. So whatever breaks that norm or pattern. Sometimes I've been really independent, but the revolution is I want to be touched more, or I want to, you know, develop more shared wave patterns of of living a life with someone when I've been relatively independent. The revolution can be surprising in any direction, is the point, but you can expect that conversation, sometimes even ultimatums around things like independence, exclusivity, what defines or creates security and a connection?
What find, what does one person versus another find attractive or enjoyable? And this isn't just casual, because these are taking place at the last degrees of the signs so the shock waves and the kind of bursts in relationships for the sake of revolution and freeing up creative and sexual energy can be really powerful. Number three Venusian disruptions, financial or Well, let me put it this way, the reason. In that I want to qualify this before I talk about money. It's not like money does not belong to Taurus, just like values, like values can be talked about through any sign of the zodiac, so Can money.
Every sign of the zodiac has been related to money in different ways throughout the entire history of astrology, there's no sign that owns money. That's okay. I'm so disturbed today. Anyway, let's go back to this idea that anything related to material things, so land, food, money, things that are used for the sake of establishing, kind of like a bio rhythm, a sense of material stability, physical, earthly, biological. When Venus comes through the the wave patterns that create those things can change, and this can look so practical a change in your diet, Venus, squaring, Uranus and Taurus.
Why? Because you saw, you saw a talk that was intellectual and scientific about what your body does with carrots, or, you know, whatever. And then you're like, Oh, hey, maybe I should eat more carrots, or I should get more, you know, vegetables on my plate. So you get more vegetables on your plate because of an idea, very Venus and Uranus, an idea that will create health and well being. There's Venus in late degrees of Aquarius, squaring, Uranus and Taurus. Sometimes when you first make a change, even if it's a change for the better, it disturbs or disrupts the system.
For two weeks, you have to figure out how to meal prep differently, because you're not used to having to chop vegetables or saute them or whatever. For two weeks, you have to shop a little bit differently, and you realize, gosh, I've got to get vegetables a little bit more regularly, because they go bad quickly. I can't stock up on them like I can bags of marshmallows at Costco. Oh, my God, I I'm in my own little world today, guys. So anyway, you can, you can set aside the marshmallows you can get, you can get some green leafy vegetables on your plate, and you can enjoy this transit as one that can recalibrate, but it may be disruptive while it does so, that's the point.
Venusian disruptions can also come through things that are Venusian women, sisters, friends, daughters, if you notice any, well, your daughter suddenly wants to get her nose pierced, or your daughter is going through a moment of, you know, like, like, mild but important rebellion or individuation. These are Venusian disruptions. You have a friend that really wants you to join a group or come along with them, you know, into some social adventure they're having, and you have to say no, and it causes maybe a rift in the relationship or the friendship.
These are the kinds of things you can also watch for, also any time that there's questions about something very ethical and social and sort of moral that's very Venus and Aquarius, but it's being pitted against very practical material concerns. Okay, let's go on to number four, emotional detachment versus sensuality. Venus and Aquarius can intellectualize feelings, and Uranus and Taurus can electrify the body with like, destabilizing pulses. Let's call them as someone who's had it in my first house for like seven years. That's that matches, yeah, which means that there may be conversations about love or relationships or even sexuality that are not able to be embodied like they're ideal, but not inhabitable physically.
So like idealism that doesn't match with the real world of the body, nervous systems can get overstimulated with a transit like this, and cravings for comfort can collide with restlessness. It's when you feel uncomfortable and you just, I just need something. And you go, I'm just gonna get a latte. And it's like, 7pm you're like, What the hell are you doing? You're not gonna be able to sleep. And then you can't sleep, and the next day, you get in a fight with a friend. It's very Venus square, Uranus. It all starts with feeling like I need something I'm feeling a little there's just like an unstable quality, and you think something pleasant, I'll go shop and you spend too much, or I'll go eat, and then, you know, you eat too much and you end up not feeling well.
So be careful about the conversation between the body and the mind when it comes to trying to stabilize and create a pleasant experience right now. On the other hand, this transit can be great when it comes to being experimental and having fun, like Venus Uranus can be like, let's go to a dance party and or, you know, let's, let's, let's do something really unusual, like take an aerial yoga class and flip. Around in silk. So, you know, whatever, whatever, whatever it is, you know, it can be a little destabilizing and a little tricky to figure out. What is a healthy version of pleasure, happiness.
On the other hand, this is just the kind of impetus you know that, like, Get your freak on. It is. It is very honoring of the experiments of creativity, of sexuality, even of the kind of people that you hang out with. All right, last but not least, I'm going to shut up because I feel like a drunk person today, I swear to God. All right, so the final one is breakthroughs that require releasing something that you've been holding on to out of habit, fear or convenience, you may have to let go of.
This is quite common with any kind of transit to Uranus, but especially with Venus, there's often this, like, you know what I would describe as you've ever been in a relationship, and I'm thinking of when I was dating back in my 20s, and you'd be like, this is nice, you know? Yeah, okay, so you you stick around in the relationship, maybe you keep dating, and you're like, well, there's nothing really super wrong here, and it's nice and it's comfortable, but you know, you should be taken to, like, another level if it's gonna last a really long time and you're not quite there, and you think to yourself, Well, God, you know, like, this is nice enough.
Why would I it seems almost extreme after two dates with someone where it's like, there's some chemistry. It's nice, but it's not great to just be like, sorry, not good enough. And so then we do the opposite thing, and we let it go on for four months until we get to this point where we go, yeah, I just need to be honest, this is not as much as I need or want. It feels so cruel when you get to that point. You know, most of the time, because we didn't listen to an original impulse that said, Good, not great. Watch for that kind of dynamic right now, good, not great has to be let go of you know what I mean?
So, you know. And sometimes the destabilization comes before the honesty, and sometimes it comes after the honesty. You're honest, and you think, Oh, this feels so natural and easy to be honest. And then immediately, like shit hits the fan, and everything gets a little destabilized. On the other hand, sometimes things get really unstable and wonky, and then you go, I have to tell the truth, and you tell the truth, and it stabilizes things either way. Just note that kind of Venus, Uranus, shiftiness, it's pretty normal, all right. Well, a couple of last things to consider.
Last decans are talking to one another, Aquarius three and Taurus three, the last decan of Aquarius is all has an association with the culmination of various social visions, ideologies, collective or social experiments or modes of participation. Sometimes there are themes of disillusionment with systems that promise progress but maybe didn't deliver as much as you thought they would. And sometimes the last part of Aquarius is also about the burden of carrying a vision of the future before it's quite ready.
So when we go to the last decan of Taurus, on the other hand, there are often lessons about the limits of growth or consumption or extraction of resources. How much can you get out of something? How far can you go? How much should you consume? And the body and the Earth Kind of responding to like prolonged stress, and so the last decade of Taurus often has to do with making adjustments so that something can be truly sustainable and not overdone somehow.
And it can be also about meeting challenges where something that's been growing and sustaining is faltering, a little bit like in a business goes through a difficult year and has to recalibrate in order to keep going positively into the future that can be a very last decan of Taurus kind of thing. The point is, with these last decans, there's something here about the viability of very earthy, basic, practical things, material things, alongside of ideals and visions, ideologies, social and collective dimensions of life that are meeting one another.
So those culminating energies really speak to asking questions about long term sustainability and viability. Between ideas and actual earthy materials, that's just another little take to put on it. I don't know if I'm tired. I feel like as I'm as I'm making this today, like, because I make these a week in advance, so I'm just kind of reflecting on why I feel so goofy today. Oh, well, yeah. Okay, so as I just for context, as I'm making this, the moon is squaring Saturn, which usually means I'm feeling tired.
And then when I'm feeling tired, I just getting, like, get a little punchy. But in the background, as I'm making this, Mercury is conjoined with Venus, so I guess I'm also feeling I'm feeling silly, but tired. So it just comes out sounding like a drunk person. Okay, anyway, no offense to drunk people. I love all of you. Hope you're having a great day. We'll see you again tomorrow. Bye.

All your caveats about feeling drunk etc are particularly amusing in the context of this series of reflections, each of which is extremely resonant with … i would have to write an easy of equivalent length to express it all… Thanks always, Adam 🙏
*i would have to write an essay, that is…
Thank you. Very interesting to think about the meaning of value.
I looked up the roots: The word “value” originates from the Latin valēre (“to be strong, be well, be of value, be worth”), rooted in the Proto-Indo-European (PIE) term \(\text{*wal-}\) (“to be strong”). It entered Middle English via the Old French value (worth, price, standing). Key details of its etymology include: Latin Roots: Derived from the Latin verb valere.Original Meaning: The root relates to strength, vigor, and being worthy or sound.Evolution: It passed through Old French value (feminine past participle of valoir, to be worth) before appearing in Middle English around c. 1300.Conceptual Connection: The underlying concept links worth (value) with strength (valere), a connection shared with words like “valiant,” “valor,” and “valid”.
Also curious about this: “I keep saying the clay is wet. Leave an impression fired up in the kiln. You’ll have a spiritual practice that’ll stick a lot longer than you’d think, because the timing is so nice.” What is that time parameter in relation to and what is its duration?
