Hey everyone. This is Adam Elenbaas from Nightlight Astrology [https://nightlightastrology.com/].
Today we are going to take a look at two of the major transits that are forming over the weekend. We will see Mercury conjoining Uranus in the sign of Taurus, while the sun in Gemini, Mercury's home sign, will be trining Pluto in Aquarius.
Those two transits are happening very close, back to back, and Saturn is entering Aries over the weekend. We've covered a lot of the Saturn Aries ingress over the course of this past week. So if you haven't yet seen those videos, you can go back and take a look.
The focus of today will really be on the Mercury, Uranus, and Sun-Pluto dynamic. Additionally, I'll be providing a little bit of context here on the very recent connection between Venus and Mars, who are also trining one another and playing into the backdrop, you could say, of these other planetary aspects over the weekend.
So I'll be saying a little bit about that as well, but that is our agenda for today. Hopefully this will prep you for some big transits over the weekend. Before we get into it, remember to like and subscribe.
We want this to be a place for your daily spiritual practice. If astrology is a part of your life daily, weekly, then we want this to be a safe place for you to develop and cultivate that aspect of your spiritual life. If you watch regularly and aren't yet subscribed, it helps us a lot.
Transcripts of any of these daily talks can always be found on the website, NightlightAstrology.com. There are a few free events coming up that I want to turn you on to, as well as the fact that we are obviously in enrollment season for our Year One program.
Go to the Events page. Click on In-Person Events. June 21, we're holding a Summer Solstice gathering in Minneapolis at the Grapevine Collective. We'd love to see you there. It's free to attend, just RSVP so we know you're coming, and we can bring the appropriate amount of snacks.
And then go to the Events page, click on Speaker Series, and you will see that our Summer Speaker Series is coming up. Gemini Brett, Marjorie Cottrell, and Krista Hamilton will all be giving talks in our upcoming Speaker Series.
So we're very excited for you guys to attend these talks. They're going to be fantastic educational talks, and they're free. They're facilitated through the Kickstarter every year. So if you'd like to attend, those are free. Just register. You get the link. If you can't attend live, you get the replay later.
Going up to the Events page, click on Live Talks. You can see my summer lineup of webinars. We just did a talk on Jupiter's exaltation in Cancer. You can purchase the replay if you've missed that one.
I'll be doing a talk on Uranus trine to Pluto in June. That's a major outer planetary configuration that I'm going to spend some deeper time on and present you my deepest and most focused research. And then in July, I'll be doing a talk on the Ninth House.
So check those webinars out. If you can't attend live, as always, they're recorded so you get the replay. Finally, go to the Courses page. Click on First Year Course. Our First Year program, our Second Year program, and Horary all begin in June.
I'll be doing a little promo for the Horary course coming up here soon, so you can learn more about that. You need to have a little bit of a background in traditional astrology to join the Horary program. Otherwise, we suggest you start with our Year One class.
It begins on June 22. You can learn everything that you need to know about the program here, or after I sign off today, there's an informational video that goes in-depth about what the program includes and how it all works—what you can expect to learn, stuff like that.
At the bottom, you will find that there are payment options available, although by the time you're—I'm recording this on the last day of the early bird sale—that has concluded by the time you're listening to this. But at the bottom, you will find that the need-based tuition option is there.
So if you're someone who really wants to take the program, you needed that sale price, you missed it because you're on a fixed or limited income, please just use the tuition assistance. We try to have affordable pricing options for everything we do.
We want to make sure that people who have really serious budgetary constrictions in life, which we know a lot of people are facing, have an affordable option, so that studying something sacred is not out of reach. That's an important value of ours at Nightlight—accessibility for spiritual topics in our business model is important.
Okay, on that note, let's turn our attention now to the real-time clock and see what's cooking over the weekend. I will, while you guys are listening to this, I'll be at NORWAC in Seattle, so I hopefully will see some of you there.
Come to my talks that I'm giving. Come say hello. I'd love to meet a few people who are maybe subscribers and Nightlight students. We're having a meetup in the atrium Friday night. That's tonight. If you're in Seattle at NORWAC and you are an enrolled Nightlight student, we're having a little meetup at 7:30 in the atrium, so we'll see you there.
But otherwise, I highly recommend, if you haven't ever attended NORWAC, that you consider it in the future. Alright, so here are the transits, and we can see that today we're in—we're basically in Dark Moon mode.
We're very close to the technical phase of the Balsamic Moon, typically the last 30 degrees of the lunar cycle. And by the time that we reach these transits that are coming through tomorrow, Saturday, May 24, we'll be in Dark Moon phase.
So that adds a little depth and nuance to the transits that I'll be explaining in a minute here. But let's look at the transits themselves. So you're going to see that Mercury is coming together with Uranus in that last degree of Taurus, and that's going to be taking place Saturday, May 24.
And then you'll be seeing it separate within a degree or two by Sunday. It's a quick-moving transit, but a very powerful one. You may be noticing it coming through today, within three degrees already, and then you'll see that it's going to pop tomorrow, Saturday, May 24, and then it'll be fading, and Mercury will enter Gemini quick enough.
So really, today through Sunday is the window that you'll be working with here. Now, if we back this up just a touch, the other transit that you should notice is tomorrow, Saturday, May 24, the sun will also be trining Pluto, from Gemini to Aquarius.
Now this is fascinating, because the sun is in Mercury's sign. And so the sun in Mercury's sign, trining Pluto, while the ruler or host Mercury is conjoining Uranus, means that the two transits are really intimately connected right now, so we can look at them together, which we will do here in a moment.
I've got five things for you to watch for, and those five things to watch for are going to be taking into consideration the pairing of these two transits acting as one, because Sun trine Pluto is hosted by Mercury conjoined Uranus. So we'll look at that dynamic.
In the background of this dynamic is the Balsamic Moon. So you're going to notice that tomorrow morning, Saturday, May 24, that the moon will move into Taurus. And in those first couple of degrees of the sign of Taurus, it is immediately now in the last 30 degrees of the lunar cycle.
That's that Balsamic Moon phase. We're going to say a little something about that. The other thing to notice here is, as we're hanging out listening to this, probably most of you on Friday, May 23, the other thing is, we have, just like yesterday into this morning, seen Venus trine Mars.
That is still very active, very present in the background, because Venus is acting as the host of the Mercury-Uranus dynamic in Taurus. So all of these things become really fascinating, and they're all connected together through the guest-host relationship.
So what I want to do now is just say a few things about the backdrop of the Dark Moon and the Venus trine to Mars, and then I'm going to get into a list of five things to watch for, given the sun's trine to Pluto and Mercury's conjunction to Uranus.
You know, that's a lot, but you know, my goal on this channel is to always give you the fullest context possible. Sometimes we put things in a vacuum and just focus, but when you have transits popping off all at the same time, it's important to try to map out the interconnections between them so that you get a sense of one cohesive thing that's happening, because that's usually how we experience it.
We don't—I mean, over this weekend, you're likely to sort of feel it all as one thing happening. If you notice it in your own life or internally, or maybe around you in someone else's life, you're going to not see it as like individual things, but as interconnected things.
So we need to take some time to explain how they're interconnected, even if it's a little bit hard to process sometimes, it's worth it to get in there. So first of all, the first thing that I want to say about this Dark Moon quality is that Dark Moons in general, usually what happens under a Dark Moon, if there's a lot of transits happening, there's the feeling of the final sloughing off of a cycle.
That may sound really generic, but it's important, because if all of these things were happening at the outset of a lunar cycle, you usually get the feeling of events that are happening as a part of the process of something new that is developing, something new that is taking shape, a new seed that's being planted.
The New Moon will sort of tone transits that are closer to that New Moon, or the Waxing Crescent Moon, or the First Quarter Moon, or even the Waxing Gibbous Moon, all have the feeling of things that are building, developing, gaining momentum, and usually a feeling of new patterns, new thoughts, new events, etc.
When you see a bunch of transits happening under the Waning Moon, usually Last Quarter down to New, you're really talking about the process of something old that's sloughing off. You're talking about this little nuance, or kind of undercurrent of things that have some history behind them, that are now being released or let go of.
I'm not saying that it's always easy to just make that subtle distinction, or that you will necessarily see how that's at play. Sometimes the patterns and cycles that are sloughing off are very subtle and, you know, almost unconscious.
So it's not always easy to identify that subtle dynamic, but keep your eye on what's happening this weekend as the resolution or completion of things that have some history. Things are happening differently, things are concluding, things are completing.
I'm reaping what's been sown. Even on a subtle level, look for this as resolution of things with some past, some history. Okay, so that's what we're going to say here about the Dark Moon. Now let's make some connections to the Venus trine to Mars.
This Venus trine to Mars, Venus hosts the Mercury-Uranus conjunction in Taurus. We're going to say a bunch of things about Mercury-Uranus and Sun trining Pluto, but it's important to note that Venus is in the superior position over Mars and in Mars's sign with reception.
So let me put it like this. Let's say that someone comes into my home as a guest. I'm now the house of Mars. Let's say someone comes into my home as a guest and they have a need or a want. Their need or want is very different from my own nature, but I'm very favorably disposed to them despite our difference.
So let's say they come in and they have a really strong need for cookies, and I'm like, You know what? I'm trying to eat healthy, so I'm not, I'm not eating so many sweets right now. No offense to anyone who loves sweets, because God knows I do.
And it could be a different day of the week, and I'd be eating them too. But you get the idea—I'm like, Well, I don't really eat sweets, but I really like this person and I want to help them out. And even though that need is different from my own nature, I'm very favorably disposed to using, you know, going to the grocery store and getting them something that they might like, or maybe even utilizing the Instacart, you guys know.
Okay, so anyway, Ashley is home, and Hilda is very interested in going to see her, so I'm going to pause and let her out. Okay, shows how much she loves me. Ashley comes home and I'm chopped liver. No, I'm just playing.
So with Venus in the superior position over Mars in Mars' sign, that's a very benefic, positive kind of connection between the two of them, because you're talking about, you know, the goddess of peace, love, sensual enjoyment, art, beauty, and the god of conflict, assertion, bravery, courage.
And they're not—I mean, they're lovers, you know, because they're kind of like opposites that like to tango with one another, and yet they're very different. But how nice is it that they're connecting in a trine, which is a very beneficial, flowing aspect.
It's of the nature of Jupiter, and Venus is in the superior position, which means that Venus's needs are really being inflected upon Mars. So Mars is going to sort of serve Venus and defer more of, quote-unquote, his nature to hers.
Think about that metaphysically—don't you know, don't be ever too literal with the genders that we talk about in astrology. Now, Venus is therefore going to be in receipt of some help and blessings from Mars.
So let's just say that Venus comes into your house and says, I would really like beautiful, sweet things. Now Mars can't help but give Venus something with a little bit of spice. So let's say Mars is like, Okay, here's some chocolate, but it's got some chilies in it, or it's, you know, it's got some, like, I don't know, something a little spicy chocolate, you know.
Venus is like, Oh well, you know, I can deal with that. So there's a little bit of a compromise going on between Venus and Mars, where there might be a little spice, but Venus and Mars getting along right now in the background is very important.
These are very powerful aspects happening over the weekend—to see a harmonizing trine between Venus and Mars, with Venus in the superior position, really does mean that whatever is resolving itself, if we use that Dark Moon, Balsamic Moon context, whatever is resolving itself, whatever these transits bring, that offers a kind of resolution, ending, sloughing off, completion, conclusion, et cetera, there's a feeling of it being harmonious—a little edgy, a little spicy—but harmonizing nonetheless.
This to me, it strikes me as a moment of the potential for positive, smoother resolution of very dynamic energies at the very end of a cycle. So I hope that makes some sense, trying to give you some larger sort of macro context for the Sun trine to Pluto and Mercury conjoined Uranus, which are big transits to come through at the same time, let alone at the same time that Saturn is entering Aries over the weekend, right?
So, alright, we have the conjunction of Mercury and Uranus and the trine between the Sun and Pluto. Let's break them down individually, and then I'm going to give you five things to watch for.
First of all, when the Sun trines Pluto, again, we have a very harmonious aspect that is of the nature of Jupiter. And so whenever a trine comes through, you can think of the two planets connecting in ways that are usually beneficial, or that have a sense of bringing forth benefits, blessings, resources, support, even if that support is for the doing of something difficult or involves a little bit of stress or tension, you're going to feel as though something is supporting the process.
Even so, while some people may not experience glowing good fortune, you may experience or take the time to notice—what I should say is, take the time to notice that things could have been worse, right? Or things—there's a level of support that's there with a trine like this now, where the Sun is generally related to things like purpose and ambition.
It has a connection to life's direction and aim, and even a process of spiritual illumination or enlightenment that's always taking place that never ceases. Little connections like this can bring about times of greater understanding—purpose, direction, ambition are being clarified, an understanding of the purpose of life itself, or a breakthrough in our understanding of something we're studying or learning, or the process of learning spiritually in general, can just experience a moment of depth and clarity.
Simultaneously, the depth is coming from Pluto. We're able to see more that has been hidden, that has been dark, that we have not understood, or that has been just inaccessible to us for whatever reason up until this point.
But now it's becoming clear—it's coming into a more illuminated, conscious level of understanding, so very positive for the sake of learning in any individual field, or just in life in general—also the clarification, deepening, intensifying of our sense of purpose or direction in life again, in general, or with regard to specific topics—look at the whole-sign house of Gemini or Pluto in Aquarius to get a feel for what topics might be involved.
The other thing that happens with the Sun trine to Pluto is people who are in positions of leadership or responsibility or power may feel like they're achieving a greater depth of ability, like I'm getting better at leading.
I'm getting better at executing whatever it is that I have to do within the sphere of my job or my activities or my leadership role as a parent or a spouse or like whatever it might be. So the sense of being empowered along the way, maybe through increased understanding, but also maybe because more responsibility is given to you and you're just ready to step into it a little bit more.
So I would watch for all of those kinds of things right now too. Now pair that alongside of Mercury and Uranus. The Mercury-Uranus pairing is inventive, revolutionary, creative—like sudden little lightning strikes that represent greater understanding or clarity, breakthroughs in our thinking, restructuring of thoughts and paradigms that happen quickly or suddenly through unexpected events.
It's a very inventive transit when it comes to things like business or how you teach or how you write or how you do art or anything, because it's in Venus's sign. It may have a connection to things like love, sex, sensuality, enjoyment, pleasure.
You may suddenly have a better idea about what feels good, or what tastes good, or how you can make your life simpler, easier, more stable, comfortable, and enjoyable. The breakthrough may be very Taurian in that sense.
You can also look at Mercury conjoining Uranus as just unexpected things that offer a liberation or a release of pent-up or creative energy. So you know, Mercury-Uranus, when it comes together, is often kind of like quick, sudden, unexpected, but often very powerful when it comes to delivering creative results, breakthroughs, freeing up of energy, and also the, you know, getting out of habits, norms, traditions, behaviors that are maybe sort of stubbornly fixed.
Now it's like boom, a different way of doing it, different way of thinking. The messenger can also come and deliver news or emails or correspondences or connections and communication that are very unexpected, maybe very exciting, a little destabilizing—always with Uranus—but I think there's a lot there to be excited about, too.
So okay, so putting that all together now, I'm going to give you five things to watch for. These things are happening just really close back to back. It's also interesting that they are basically again happening under this Dark Moon, with the Venus trine to Uranus and with Saturn moving into Aries.
If you missed the Saturn into Aries context, you might be like, Why isn't he saying more about that? Because I basically talked about that all week. So go back and watch those videos if you haven't yet. That'll provide even a little bit more context, because these transits could also be connected to the transition that Saturn is making if you really wanted to go in that direction.
But anyway, here are the things to watch for. The first one is super obvious. With the Sun in Mercury's sign, trining Pluto—both in air signs—and with the ruler Mercury conjoining Uranus, you have that tremendous signature of mental, intellectual, and communicative breakthroughs.
This could involve technology, commerce, business strategies, or different forms of learning and communication in general. Don't be surprised if you are suddenly thinking about things differently, or if the conversations you're entertaining, or the things you're learning or studying become very provocative and unexpectedly provide some creative inspiration or breakthroughs.
Also watch for the disruptive quality of Mercury and Uranus. Mercury obviously ruling the Sun-Pluto trine. So what comes up right now may be very unexpected and a little provocative, but all of the supportive energy behind this, to me, suggests, at the very least, maybe some resolution of old cycles, and maybe at the very best, an understanding that can wrap up something old and be the seed for something new.
Two would be powerful resources coming forth, perhaps surprisingly or suddenly. We've got a trine between the Sun and Pluto that is often a very enriching and empowering dynamic. And then we also have Mercury conjoining Uranus, which will often provide sudden breakthroughs and surprises.
I would think of this as the potential, again, maybe at the worst, for something to come forth that allows for resolution of old stuff. And isn't it nice to move on? On the other hand, powerful resources coming forth, perhaps surprisingly or suddenly, could be anything that just is a benefit or an aid or support that you weren't necessarily expecting to be there, but suddenly it is—so take advantage of it.
Three would be smoothing or mending rough or frayed edges—with Venus trine to Mars in the background. The harmonization of Venus and Mars suggests to me that if there have been places of misunderstanding, miscommunication, or clashes somehow with others, that you may find a supportive energy for greater understanding, greater flexibility mentally, emotionally, that allows for repair or harmonization to take place if things—if there have been hurt feelings or misunderstandings.
I think that's a great benefit of this connection. Number four would be new information that breaks habits, norms, or traditions. Look, new understandings, new experiences, new ideas can come forth very rapidly with these transits, given that you know, especially with Uranus in Taurus, we're talking about some of the more deeply, firmly entrenched patterns and habits that are capable of being broken open right now.
And for Taurus, that doesn't mean complete destabilization. It really means a change of what provides us with the most stable, peaceful, comfortable existence. But that change may initially be a little difficult, even though, in the long run, forming new habits, norms, traditions is a good thing.
Now, number five would be seeing things from an opposite perspective. Anytime—you know, we got Jupiter culminating in Gemini delivering its final lessons. We've got the Sun entering Gemini. We've got Uranus about to enter Gemini, with these trines to Pluto coming through.
I think one of the fascinating things to consider is that Gemini—Mercury in general—loves for us to consider the opposite of something. That could mean a million different things—the exploration of our own shadows compared to the image we project.
It could also be about owning or incorporating a part of us that we initially think of as bad or we have kicked out of our inner committee. Now let's bring it in. Let's give it a place. Let's give it a role.
The alternation of light and dark, the exploration of opposites, is a very natural part of what Gemini provides. There's a lot of emphasis right now on Mercury and on the sign of Gemini, and a lot of revolution that's about to come through with Uranus entering Gemini, while Jupiter concludes its final thoughts in Gemini.
So one broad way of thinking about this weekend would be: Consider a different perspective. Open your mind to looking at something in the complete opposite way that you're used to looking at it.
I will leave it there. These are the things that I've been thinking of, but add something to the list based on your own creative learning and understanding of astrology. That's what it's all about. My lists are sort of just there to get the jewel turning.
Keep turning it, keep contemplating. Add your own delineations as you notice and observe what's happening. That's the goal, right? Because by this practice, what we're really doing is we're entering into active, reflective, contemplative mode of life, where life becomes very prayerful—not in some ritualistic sense, but in the sense that we are meaningfully reflecting upon and therefore able to more meaningfully receive the multifaceted nature of life and experience itself.
What a gift, what a blessing. Life is like this beautiful jewel, if we take even a little bit of time with it—through the language of archetypes and astrology, our lives become multifaceted and become just as rich and beautiful as archetypes themselves.
So in my mind, there's nothing better. On that note, transitioning into promo for our First Year course—now, to me, there's nothing more valuable than taking some deliberate time to deepen, structure, focus your study of astrology, which I hope some of you will consider doing in our upcoming Year One program that starts on June 22.
You can learn more about it in this video I've attached, which will start up here as soon as I sign off. So I hope you have a great weekend. Look forward to seeing some of you at NORWAC this weekend, if you're there, and otherwise, we'll see you again on Monday. Bye, everyone.
